‘Cinderella’ Teaser Trailer Shoes Us Nothing

by 05/15/14

Imagine this, live and in living color on the big screen: a poor girl, her mother dead, reduced to scrubbing the floors under the care of her cruel stepmother until a magical encounter changes her fate.

Yes, “Cinderella” will once again hit theaters with a live remake in 2015, though you wouldn’t exactly know it from the teaser trailer Disney just released. Instead of any footage for the movie — which is still in post-production — it’s just a minute-long, fancied-up clip of a terribly uncomfortable-looking shoe, complete with crystallized butterfly. Talk about a reboot, right?

Disney also released a poster for the flick today, featuring the same foot-chewing accessory. Check it out below.

“Cinderella,” starring Lily James, Hayley Atwell, Helena Bonham Carter and Cate Blanchett, is due in theaters March 13, 2015.

Ansel Elgort’s Selfie With Ed Sheeran And John Green May Cause A Perfect Storm of Teenage Love

by 05/15/14

In every generation there comes a selfie that outselfies all other selfies. A selfie that stands apart in its quality, content and adorable factor. A selfie that is, simply put, the king of selfies. Let me take a selfie? No, don’t bother. You have no chance of winning.

Ansel Elgort just posted that selfie.

Elgort, star of the upcoming “The Fault in Our Stars,” snapped an arm’s-length pic of himself, “Fault” author and fan-favorite John Green and pop star Ed Sheeran, whose song “All of the Stars” appears on the film’s soundtrack.

Don’t mind the screaming, it’ll die down … someday.

Watch Taylor Kitsch Tell His Epic Drunk Tank Story

by 05/14/14

With reporting by Josh Horowitz.

There comes a moment in every long hang where people begin telling the story of the drunkest they’ve ever been. That one time they reached a point they may never reach again in terms of inebriation.

This happens even when that long hang is with Taylor Kitsch, who starred in TV’s “Friday Night Lights,” as well as “John Carter,” “Lone Survivor” and the upcoming “The Normal Heart.” Kitsch stopped by MTV News’ Josh Horowitz’s office to record an episode of Horowitz’s podcast, Happy Sad Confused.

“If you love honesty in a man,” as Kitsch says, watch the clip above to learn about the night that Tim Riggins Kitsch spent in the drunk tank.

Get Your First Look At Isla Nublar, The Ferry To ‘Jurassic World’

by 05/14/14

It takes a big rig to carry dinosaurs around, or so we’d imagine. So it makes sense that the producers of “Jurassic World” procured an enormous boat for use on the film’s Oahu set.

OK, so we don’t know whether dinosaurs will actually be ferried around, but we do know that Reel Tours Hawaii, an Oahu-based group that obsessively tracks films shooting on the island, caught some pics of a boat souped up with the “Jurassic World” logo.

Prior to this, we’ve only seen official stills of Bryce Dallas Howard giving A Look, a bashed-in truck and a director’s chair overlooking a Hawaiian landscape. Bring on the boats!

The crew applied “Jurassic World” logos to the boat and temporarily labeled it “Isla Nublar,” the name for the island that Jurassic Park was to have been built on, during filming. We assume that the boat, which is apparently a dinner cruise ship in its non-movie life, is being filmed as a ferry to the island in the flick. As you can see in the bottom-most photo, the crew took pains to drape the logo and name, but it can’t be covered all the time. Check out the pics, from Reel Tours Hawaii, below.

“Jurassic World,” starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, and directed by Colin Trevorrow, is set to hit theaters June 12, 2015.

How The Heck Will Will Forte Pull Off ‘Last Man On Earth’?

by 05/13/14

With reporting by Alex Zalben.

There’s not a lot more that Will Forte can tell us about his new Fox comedy, “The Last Man On Earth,” than what we already know from the title. It seems to be exactly what it sounds like: The “Saturday Night Live” alum plays a guy who just so happens to be all alone on the planet. The just-released trailer for the show plays like a dark comedy, with Forte wandering the aisles of an abandoned grocery store pantsless and trolling for porn, and, still pantsless, singing into a megaphone at an empty Dodger Stadium, acquiescing to an invisible crowd’s demands for just one more song.

As a short, the concept works tremendously. As a series, however, a potential audience member wonders just how much mileage can be had out of a one-man show.

At the Fox upfronts this week, MTV News had the chance to ask Forte exactly how the heck he planned to pull this off.

“We’re writing it for my family,” he joked. “My family’s gonna love it, my family’s gonna be really interested, and if we get other viewers, that’s alright, but we’ve got the Forte family locked up.”

“No, we’re actually very excited about it. We’ve come up with a lot of really fun, interesting things and twists and turns.”

Not that he can tell us about any of those twists: “I don’t want to say too much about it, but we’re really excited about it. It’s a really fun, dark, at times but mainly just ...

Battle At The Bank: See Pics Of The New Harry Potter Gringotts Ride

by 05/13/14

Step aside, other roller coasters, because this may just be the most magical ride yet.

As all wizarding wannabes know, Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida has announced plans for a major expansion. Today, we got some juicy details, including concept art, for Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts, the ride that will be the park’s new featured attraction.

As the name implies, the ride centers around the goblin-run wizarding bank in Diagon Alley, but it promises to be an enchanted bucket more fun than standing in line waiting for the next available teller. As usual, the details on the ride appear to be immaculate and in line with the expectations of devoted fans of the Harry Potter universe.

For example, the carriage for the ride mimics that creaky, antiqued carts that Harry and his pals ride through the underbelly of Gringotts:

HP and the Escape from Gringotts 2

Lifelike goblin tellers will be present, of course:

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

There’s no other way to say it: The Gringotts Bank that you’ll actually be able to walk into and enjoy looks just ridiculously cool.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

The plot of the ride seems as if it will be adapted from the episode in the final book in the Harry Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”

In the book, Harry, ...

Taylor Swift Is Looking Super Serious In This New ‘Giver’ Pic

by 05/12/14

Seeing Taylor Swift seated behind a piano is nothing new, but the circumstances of seeing her behind a piano this particular time are: This is a still from “The Giver,” the big-screen adaptation of Lois Lowry’s celebrated children’s book (and Swift’s latest attempt at conquering the silver screen).

Swift plays the small but important role of Rosemary, a past trainee for the job of Receiver of Memories, who has more going on than meets the eye. We only caught the slightest of glimpses of Rosemary in the film’s first trailer, leaving fans intrigued about Swift’s character.

For now, however, you can peep Swift in a still from the movie, sitting beside a younger version of Jeff Bridges’ character, the titular Giver.

THE GIVER

“The Giver,” which takes place in a strictly regimented community where individuality is discouraged and pain avoided at all costs, is set to hit theaters August 15.

‘Divergent’ Follow-Up ‘Insurgent’ Casts Its Johanna

by 05/12/14

Initiates, get ready to see Octavia Spencer‘s kind side: The Academy Award winning actress will appear in “Insurgent,” the follow-up to this year’s “Divergent,” as Johanna, a major player in the Amity faction.

For those of you who have only seen the film version of “Divergent” and aren’t quite familiar with what lies ahead, there’s plenty to be excited about here. Spencer can expect a lot of time in the makeup chair, as well as a lot of screen time, if the film version of “Insurgent” follows the book closely. The character of Johanna is described as nearly pretty, but for the very distinct scar that runs across her entire face, leaving her with one eye and a speech impediment from the damage. She’s a member of the Amity faction, and as close to a leader as the technically collective and headless faction has.

“Divergent” left off with Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) on the run with their friends. There’s nowhere to turn, until they find Johanna and Amity and have to decide whether to trust them to keep their rebel band hidden from the view of Janine (Kate Winslet) and her power-hungry army. Johanna also appears in the third book of the Veronica Roth young adult series, “Allegiant.”

“Insurgent” is due in theaters March 20, 2015.

You And Joe Biden Can Listen To ‘Drops Of Jupiter’ Together This National Train Day

by 05/10/14

May 10 doesn’t just mark a spring, non-Cinco de Mayo Saturday for you to enjoy margaritas. No, this year, May 10 marks National Train Day.

Established all the way back in 2008 by Amtrak, the holiday (non-federal) is meant to raise appreciation and awareness of rail travel among Americans. Why is it in May, you may ask? Well, Virginia, that would be because on May 10, 1869, the Golden Spike was hammered in Promontory, Utah, marking the official completion of the first transcontinental railroad system. As such, the Saturday closest to May 10 gets the honor of being National Train Day for the year.

But while Vice President Joe Biden may be psyched about traveling by train, we’d rather observe the holiday by contemplating the greatest hits of the soft rock band Train. More specifically, let’s all sit back, relax and listen to what is undoubtedly the very greatest Train song of all time, “Drops of Jupiter.”

Those of you who are like, “but ‘Meet Virginia’! And what about ‘Soul Sister’?” That’s enough from you. Any song that name-drops soy lattes, deep-fried chicken and tae bo is clearly the king.

But, like, can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken? Can you?

In addition to being a fantastic choice for any group sing-along, as well as a masterpiece with a range of lyrics that would be perfect for the margins of any middle school love notes you may need to write, “Drops of Jupiter” has transcended its four minutes-ish of 1998 goodness and breached ...

Ansel Elgort Recreated ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ Poster With Nat Wolff

by 05/08/14

In December, when the first poster for “The Fault In Our Stars” was released, the internet exploded. Oh, the feels people felt! As it turns out, Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort have a great gift for staring, lovelorn, at one another from very short distances, basically becoming the human version of MFEO.

Here’s the thing: Elgort apparently holds the secret recipe for that look that is somehow both tender and heated. We know this because he recreated the poster with a different “Fault” co-star, Nat Wolff.

And, hey, we’d watch that movie too. We’d probably even cry.

The Fault In Our Stars” hits theaters June 6. Prepare your tissues accordingly.
