The Beygency Proves That Beyonce Really Does Run The World

by 05/05/14

Let the sketch on this week’s “Saturday Night Live” serve as a warning: Beyoncé is everywhere.

Andrew Garfield, who made his hosting debut on the May 3 episode, plays a character who makes the mistake of saying that “Drunk In Love” is anything less than transcendently awesome. This mistake, we shortly learn, could prove to be lethal. There’s one girl in particular, it turns out who run the world, and that girl is Beyoncé.

Check out the clip above to find out exactly what happens when you dare betray the Queen Bey, complete with a cameo from Jack Bauer. Spoiler alert: Even he can’t get away with uttering a word against her. As they say, you can’t have treason without a reason. Now put your hands up (oh oh oh) and come with us. Quietly.

The ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Scene Andrew Garfield Doesn’t Want To Think About

by 05/02/14

With reporting by Josh Horowitz.

When Andrew Garfield, who shoots his web out for a second go-round as Peter Parker in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ this weekend, had to shoot the finale of the movie, he didn’t even want to think about it, he told MTV News.

Death scenes are always hard to shoot, but we can imagine that for Garfield, it was an especially difficult process filming the scene depicting the death of Gwen Stacy, played by Garfield’s real-life girlfriend, Emma Stone.

‘It was horrible,” Garfield said of that portion of the shoot. “Absolutely horrid. I don’t want to think about it. It’s the worst. Your body doesn’t know it’s not real.”

Stone, for her part, told us that she was “morbidly looking forward to it.”

Watch the clip above to hear more from Stone and Garfield about shooting the tragic scene.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ is in theaters now.

You Have To Watch These Marines Get Super Into Singing ‘Let It Go’

by 05/02/14

Listen, I know you may think you’re all “Let It Go”-ed out, and you’re like, “but it’s spriiiiiiing, why are we even still talking about ‘Frozen’ haven’t you had enough snow, geeeez.”

And the answer is, no, no we haven’t. We thought we’d had enough, and then we saw this video of Marines doing their damnedest to sing along with “Let It Go,” and we realized that it was just what our cold hearts needed.

You probably need it too. Seriously. Be sure to keep watching until a) Princess Elsa raises her ice castle from the ground and b) She whips her hair sassily out of its braid. That, apparently, is a really big moment for these Marines, who literally ooh-rah with approval.

These guys not only serve our country, they delight our hearts as well.

Are We Finally Getting A ‘Sopranos’ Prequel?

by 05/02/14

It seems like poor David Chase, who’s done all kinds of other non-”Sopranos” things, can’t step out the door without someone yelling at him about his beloved, long-completed mobster series.

Nevermind the fact that it’s been seven years since the show’s finale aired on HBO, and that James Gandolfini, who starred as Tony Soprano, passed away in 2013, fans still want more, more, more.

At a panel at New York’s Museum of the Moving Image, Chase was reportedly asked about, shockingly, whether he would make a “Sopranos” movie. According to The Daily Beast, Chase is a little gun-shy about the prospect.

“A lot of people have talked to me about it, and frankly I still flirt with the idea sometimes,” he said. “But if I had a really great way to do it, I would do maybe a prequel. Somebody gave me a book about Newark in the 1920s about gangsters in Newark. That kind of interests me but not enough that I would have done it.”

So, um, that’s something. Not much, but something. As the infuriating final scene of “The Sopranos” would advise, hey, don’t stop believing.

Additionally, you may continue believin’, as well as theorizing about whether the fact that Tony and Co. ate onion rings at the diner really meant something, as fans at the panel reportedly did.

Who’s The Man In The Hat? ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Director Explains

by 05/01/14

Remember the mysterious man in the hat from the end of “The Amazing Spider-Man,” director Marc Webb’s first foray into the superhero world?

That was Electro, Jamie Foxx’s blue villain, who took center stage in this weekend’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” Or, it was going to be Electro. Until it wasn’t.

“There was an idea that the man in the hat at the end of the first movie was going to be Electro, in fact that was sort of how it was originally conceived, but we shot it quite differently,” Webb told MTV News at the New York premiere of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” “I wanted that character in that first movie to lead to another series of characters later on.”

By making that change, could Webb have paved a road that led straight to the Sinister Six movie?

“We left ourselves a little bit open but we had a pretty good idea of who that person was,” he said.

To find out more, check out the clip above.

Wait, Is Electro A Never-Nude?

by 05/01/14

The only way we can think to confirm or deny our suspicions that Jamie Foxx’s “Amazing Spider-Man 2” villain Electro is actually Dr. Tobias Fünke is to see whether he can make a realistic chicken sound. If he comes out with any “cha-chee-cha” or “a-doodle-doodle-doo” sounds, we’ll be able to prove what we’ve suspected all along: Electro is a never-nude.

The evidence is all there in the movie, staring us right in the face.

For one thing, the guy obviously blue himself.

He also wears glasses. Which, you know. So Tobias of him, right? Not to mention the thinning hair and mustache, similar to those of Dr. Fünke. And let’s not forget that Tobias is actually an albino black man.

It’s OK, we know. We’re a little spooked at this point too.

And since three strikes means you’re a never-nude, here’s the killer: Guy can turn into electricity and dissolve his physical form, coursing through the cords to reappear at a different point. And yet when he reappears, as below, he pops up wearing a little black bike short boxer brief type garment.

jamiefoxxelectroshorts

Do those shorts effectively hide his lightning thunder?

As if that wasn’t enough, we have two additional supporting pieces of evidence that Electro and Tobias are connected: In the most recent season of “Arrested Development,” Tobias plays The Thing in a “Fantastic Four” musical, which technically makes him part of the Marvel Universe. Ish. And “fünke” ...

Who Should Play Elvis In Baz Luhrmann’s Biopic?

by 05/01/14

It looks like we’ll be seeing another Baz Luhrmann spectacle again, this time to the mid-century strains of Elvis Presley.

The director, who brought us a technicolor “The Great Gatsby” and perhaps the original jukebox musical (with a twist), “Moulin Rouge!”, is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to direct an as-yet-untitled Elvis biopic, The Wrap reported.

Luhrmann, known for his modernized imaginings of classic tales, would surely bring those sensibilities to a biopic of The King. We’re thinking Velvet Elvis, but on film. And guess what? We’re not mad about it.

Ahead, check out our six picks for actors to don Presley’s iconic jumpsuits and muttonchops.

Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio
As we know from “Romeo + Juliet” and the more recent “The Great Gatsby,” Luhrmann loves him some Leo. With a little makeup and fabulous costuming, the 39-year-old DiCaprio would be a totally plausible ageing Elvis.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
As far as we’re concerned, JoGo would be the perfect pick to play the young, charismatic Presley. He isn’t a Luhrmann vet, but we can’t imagine he’d object to some hypersaturation and not-of-this-world effects. Plus, he can dance til the cows come home. Swoon.

Tobey Maguire
Tobey Maguire
Maybe we just want to see the erstwhile Spider-Man eat a peanut butter-banana-bacon sandwich, or maybe we just haven’t gotten enough of him in a onesie yet. Either way, it ...

The Greatest ‘Mean Girls’ Nail Art You’ll Ever See

by 04/30/14

Listen, my nails can’t help it that they’re so popular. It’s not their fault that you’re, like, in love with them.

In honor of the 10th anniversary of “Mean Girls” hitting theaters, it seemed only appropriate that we pair up with COVERGIRL to create a super-grool nail art tribute to the greatest movie that we’ve ever seen. The result, as created by nail artist Ria Lopez, is decidedly fetch.

IMG_3489_Zoomed_v1

These nail looks, inspired by key phrases and references from the movie, can definitely sit with us, even if they’re wearing track pants or jeans and it’s not a Friday.

Best of all, you can learn how to make the Burn Book nail of your very own. Check out the tutorial video below.

Can you spot all the references in the nails? More importantly, do you think my nail beds suck. Whatever, at least I don’t have bad breath in the morning.

Check out more closeups of the amazing manicure below. From left to right, in case you’re not Plastic enough to know, we have Damian in his hoodie, Army pants and flip flops (just like Regina George), on Wednesdays we wear pink, a cake made out of rainbows and smiles, and that’s so fetch. On the other hand, from left to right in the frame, October 3rd (“On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was.”), the infamous refrain of “you can’t sit with us,” a hot dog (“she made out with a hot dog”), “is butter a carb” ...

Watch Shailene Woodley Cry While Getting Her Hair Chopped Off

by 04/30/14

Stars, they’re just like us! They also tend to cry while cutting off several inches of hair. Just one little thing: We usually make the chop because we need a little change or need to get rid of damaged ends. In the case of actress Shailene Woodley, however, the choice to lop off her hair came for a role.

Woodley stars in the upcoming “The Fault In Our Stars,” an adaptation of the popular young adult novel of the same title, following teenaged cancer patient Hazel Grace and her romance with Augustus (played by Ansel Elgort), who is also recovering from cancer.

MTV News visited the set of the movie in Pittsburgh to catch up with Woodley and Elgort. While there, we had the chance to ask Woodley about her big leap into the short-haired world. Not only did she tell us about it, she did us one better and handed over the video of her getting her ponytail snipped.

“It was a super-fun moment,” Woodley said of the haircut.

In the video, Woodley certainly looks like she’s having fun — with a side of, “oh my god, what am I doing?” But mostly fun.

Check out the clip above to watch the infamous haircut and hear Woodley talk about the experience.

“The Fault In Our Stars” hits theaters June 6.
