Still smarting from the most recent “Game of Thrones” character offing? We all know author George R.R. Martin has a tendency to do away with fan favorites on the regular, but that doesn’t make the super gruesome deaths any easier to stomach.
In an attempt to atone for his wicked ways (or, in reality, to raise money for two charities, the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary and the Food Depot of Santa Fe), Martin is offering two lucky fans a chance to be featured in a future book in his “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. There’s space for one female and one male. You’ll not only have a character named after you, but you’ll also get to choose your station (um, lord, much?) and will be gloriously murdered (because of course). The going rate for all that Westerosian goodness? $20,000.
If the idea of scraping together all those copper stars is a bit daunting, perhaps one of the more affordable fundraising perks on Martin’s Prizeo page will pique your interest. We think $7,500 for one of Martin’s well-worn sailor caps (it’s bedecked the cranium of a genius! It’s wonderfully jaunty!) is totally reasonable. And, because he’s a great human, every single donation gives you a chance to win a trip for you and a friend to fly into Santa Fe, New Mexico to meet Martin, have dinner with him, take a helicopter ride to the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary, and pick his brain about all things “Game of Thrones.” George ...
