Michael Fassbender Showed Us What ‘Prometheus 2′ Could Be Like

by 6 mins ago

The future of “Prometheus 2″ has been uncertain in the last few months, especially after director Ridley Scott chose “The Martian” as his next project. Based on what we’ve previously heard about the potential sequel, Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace would reprise their roles, but that’s pretty much all we know.

When I sat down with Michael Fassbender to talk about his new movie “Frank,” in which he wears a papier-mache head most of the time, I realized that his character in the indie film is essentially the opposite of where we last saw David in “Prometheus,” only head.

Fassbender agreed and then gave me a little preview of the sequel.

Essentially, his impression what David might be up to breaks down to this:

And just to prove how flexible Fassbender’s peepers are, here’s this:

“Frank” opens in theaters on August 22, and it’s really good.

Think Aquaman Sucks? Zack Snyder Has Some Words For You

by 23 mins ago

Everyone knows that Aquaman is the lamest member of the Justice League, but it’s not like that’s a really harsh insult. It’s like being the worst flavor of ice cream. It’s still ice cream.

Anyway, a Detroit radio station was “a little bit disparaging” toward the king of Atlantis (via /Film), so Zack Snyder, who’s currently filming “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” in the city called in to give the DJs what for.

“I don’t want to give anything away about the movie or anything like that, but Aquaman has some cool abilities,” Snyder said. “People are like, ‘Oh what? Does he talk to animals? Cause that seems like what he does. Or fish?’”

Don’t let the enthusiasm of “some cool abilities” fool you. Aquaman can kill Superman.

“The cool thing with Aquaman is he’s Triton, so you have to realize that could cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact,” Snyder said. “That’s a thing that’s in the canon. He’s super strong cause of course he can exist at these super deep depths, so when he comes up here he’s crazy strong.”

Snyder sure is strongly defending a hero that’s only rumored to be in his movie. What gives?

“Anyway, not to say he’s in my movie or anything like that but he has the potential to be bad ass. That’s all I’m saying,” he said.

You hear that, guys? Don’t say anything bad about Aquaman, or he’s liable to use his some cool abilities on ...

‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’s’ Practical Sets Were Incredible AND Thrifty

by 7 mins ago

One of the many things that sets “Guardians of the Galaxy” apart from its summer movie peers is that it uses more practical, physical sets than the modern blockbuster.

For director James Gunn, having those sets, especially the one for the enormous prison break sequence, made a huge difference.

“The prison in ‘Guardians’ is called the Kyln,” Gunn told us. “The Kyln was an actual practical set composed of 350 thousand pounds of steel. The only way we could afford to build the set was because we went in, we built it, and then we melted it all down and sold it afterwards back as steel.”

The extra effort was worth it, according to Gunn, since most summer movies wouldn’t have bothered.

“It was an amazing, practical set. I think most movies that you see that are big movies these days use sets like that are almost always green screen,” he said. For us, we tried to build as much stuff as we possible could.”

“Guardians of the Galaxy” is in theaters now.

What ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Changed From The Comics

by 1 min ago

For as weird as the original comic books are, it’s amazing that the new “Guardians of the Galaxy” film is as faithful to the source material as it is.

There’s the Kree, the Nova Corps. Hell, there’s even a severed Celestial head. But for every piece of the books that the movie incorporates, there are a few places where “Guardians of the Galaxy” diverts from the cosmic comics.

Here are the biggest changes made to the characters, setting and mythology in “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Minor spoilers!

Kyln

kyln2

Not that the cinematic version of Marvel’s space prison was a luxury resort, but the Kyln from the comics is a much darker place. The giant penitentiary on the edge of our universe is more of a city than a cell block, as we see in the movie. Inmates there are essentially receiving a slow-motion death sentence, since most don’t survive three years.

This is where Marvel reintroduced the world to Peter Quill. The cosmic hero had turned himself in after playing a role in the destruction of a lunar colony, a sacrifice that saved countless others. While in Kyln, Quill added cybernetic enhancements to his face, which the Kree later removed when forming the proto Guardians of the Galaxy.

But more on that later.

Ronan the Accuser

Though the earliest incarnations of the Kree enforcer portray him as the tyrannical villain Lee Pace plays in the movie, when Marvel revived the cosmic side of their universe with the ...

Angel Could Return As One Of The Four Horsemen In ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

by 1 min ago

The teaser at the end of “X-Men: Days of Future Past” not only set up the villain for “X-Men: Apocalypse,” but also his acolytes, the Four Horsemen.

Readers who know the rotating quartet of villains from the comic books are likely familiar with a few of the group’s most famous members, arguably chief among them, Warren Worthington III, a.k.a. Angel, who served as Death for Apocalypse.

But since Ben Foster appeared as Angel in “X-Men: Last Stand,” set during the modern day, does that rule him out of the ’80s-set “Apocalypse”?

Not quite, says writer Simon Kinberg.

When I spoke with Kinberg at San Diego Comic-Con, he first made clear that they haven’t announced who the Four Horsemen will be, but he did explain how the implications of “Days of Future Past” open up the possibilities for the roster.

“I would say in terms of making any character decisions on ‘Apocalypse’ is, we set back the clock on ‘Days of Future Past,’ so a lot could have changed from that point in 1973 forward, meaning people could have been born earlier,” Kinberg said. “The whole world changed after those events. Things that were represented even ‘X1′ and ‘X2′ and ‘X3′ wouldn’t have happened in quite the same way.”

So that means Worthington could have been born earlier after “Days of Future Past” or even look entirely different.

Either way, it means that Archangel could ride with Apocalypse when the next “X-Men” movie hits on May 27, 2016.

Daniel Radcliffe Doesn’t Think About His ‘Harry Potter’ Co-Stars Getting Naked

by 26 mins ago

Daniel Radcliffe shook off the image of being “the Harry Potter actor” when he dropped his cloak to go fully nude in a production of “Equus.”

But is he a little disappointed that his “Harry Potter” co-stars didn’t follow suit?

“I certainly look like the most enthusiastic nudist of the three of us,” Radcliffe told MTV News. “It’s not something that I think about particularly.”

The rest of the conversation is kind of a blur, but it ends with Radcliffe suggesting that the interview would be better in the nude.

Daniel Radcliffe’s new movie “What If” opens in theaters on August 8.

First ‘Jurassic World’ Poster Has A Couple Hidden Details

by 15 mins ago

Now that we’re officially in Comic-Con week, the number of very, very cool exclusives has gone through the roof, and “Jurassic World” director Colin Trevorrow has announced something special for his little, upcoming film.

Well, that’s pretty cool.

The poster comes from artist Mark Englert and will probably only belong to the most dedicated of San Diego Comic-Con attendees.

That being the case, it’s up to us to do what we can with the image on our screens.

If you take a look in the background, it appears that a thriving Jurassic World is expanding before our eyes, with construction equipment building up the attraction. But a sinister secret lies in the foreground, complete with eggs hidden in the wreckage of a Jurassic Park jeep.

This seems to hint that while whoever is reviving the theme park is building it up, the old threat of dinosaurs on the loose lurks in the shadows.

Because remember, kids. Life finds a way.

“Jurassic World” opens in theaters on June 12, 2015.

‘True Blood’ Actress Joins ‘Daredevil’ As Female Lead

by 7 mins ago

Marvel and Netflix’s “Daredevil” series has added a key character straight from the classic Matt Murdock books.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that “True Blood” star Deborah Ann Woll will play Karen Page, Daredevil’s greatest romantic interest from the books, dating all the way back to 1964, in “Daredevil” #1.

“Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo previously played Page in the feature film starring Ben Affleck, but that movie paired Daredevil and Elektra.

Woll joins Charlie Cox, who will play the title character, Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio and Elden Henson, who have already been cast in the series.

“Daredevil” is expected to debut on Netflix sometime next year.

Daniel Radcliffe Reveals His Biggest Fear For Last Broadway Performances

by 19 mins ago

Daniel Radcliffe is coming to the end of his latest stay on Broadway in Martin McDonagh’s “The Cripple of Inishmaan,” but just because the former “Harry Potter” actor has played through the same scenes dozens and dozens of times, that doesn’t mean he’s completely mastered the part.

As Radcliffe told us when we recently sat down with him, his last few shows of “The Cripple of Inishmaan” have come with the added difficulty of thinking that he no longer has to think about his role.

“I screwed up a line the other day for the first time weeks,” Radcliffe said. “When you’re doing a play for a while — and I don’t mean this to sound like you get terribly lazy and complacent — there comes a point where you’re just going on muscle memory, so you’re not really thinking about it overly and too consciously. When something does go wrong, you just hear the line, and you hear it come out wrong. You’re like, ‘That’s not right.’”

What Will The ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Post-Credits Scene Be?

by 26 mins ago

Guardians of the Galaxy” is less than three weeks away — believe me, I’ve been counting down for years — which means that any day now someone somewhere will see the movie early and reveal the surprise post-credits scene online.

It’s an unfortunate side effect of both the internet and preview screenings, but leaks have become an eventuality of Marvel Studios movies. So while the end credits stringer remains unspoiled, let’s take a look at some possibilities for “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” Preview

Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe established a precedent for the pre-”Avengers” post-credit sequence. Audience members who hung around to the very end of the movie were treated to a sneak preview of “The Avengers,” the first place to see such a preview. It stands to reasons that Marvel would want to plug their next team-up movie in the film directly preceding it once again.

Another factor to consider here that is San Diego Comic-Con takes place the week before “Guardians of the Galaxy” hits theaters. Marvel loves to show off footage in Hall H, so it’s very likely by that the time “Guardians” debuts, the company will have some “Age of Ultron” footage ready to show off.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” Sequel Tease

Marvel Studios

With “Guardians” already tracking to bring in somewhere between $60 million and $80 million, it seems more and more unlikely that Marvel would retire Star-Lord, Rocket, Gamora, Groot and Drax after one outing. It wouldn’t be ...
