‘Paranormal Activity 5′ Gets An Intriguing Title

by 10 mins ago

Fans of demon-infused found footage movies didn’t get their annual dose of “Paranormal Activity” last year, thanks to a delay for the series’ fifth installment, and now Paramount has announced that the series is missing another Halloween.

The fifth “Paranormal Activity” movie has been pushed from October 24 to March 13, 2015, but the news isn’t all bad. The movie now has a title.

“Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension” will hit theaters next year, and from the sounds of that subtitle, it will advance the already mythology-heavy series.

SPOILERS

Those who checked out the spin-off movie, “Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones” will no doubt remember the crazy twist that came near the end. The series covered some new ground when it sent a character through a mysterious door and back through time.

Now, time travel and magic doors don’t exactly play right into the “Ghost Dimension,” but after “The Marked Ones” blew out the scope of the series, an alternate, ghostly dimension doesn’t sound that farfetched.

The fifth movie in the series will reportedly follow a new family. There’s no word on any returning cast members, but I wouldn’t be surprising if Katie Featherston showing up.

Personally, my fingers are crossed for Kathryn Newton, who played Alex in “Paranormal Activity 4.” We technically never saw her die, and it would be a good shake up for the series to add a heroine.

“Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension” opens in theaters on March 13.

The ‘Venom’ Movie Might Not Feature The Character You Know

by 14 mins ago

In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, Alex Kurtzman, the man set to direct a movie about the villain and occasional anti-hero Venom, said something that may have a surprising impact on the “Amazing Spider-Man” spin-off.

When asked how difficult it was picking a version of Venom to feature in the movie, Kurtzman said this:

“I would not say it’s an easy choice. I would say that there are quite a few things about Venom that are interesting. Venom had several different iterations, and there are several things that are very unique, interesting and specific. And so I think we all want to make sure that we’re making the right choices for a character that’s so beloved.”

Eddie Brock is by far the most well-known host for the symbiote, since he was the person who originally held the title “Venom” after Spidey ditched the living costume, but in a world where “Ant-Man” is about Scott Lang, his role as the main character in the movie is not a foregone conclusion.

So which Venom is most likely to show up in the movie? Let’s break it down.

Mac Gargan

The Venom symbiote took over Scorpion after abandoning the cancer-stricken Eddie Brock, and when combined, the two caused a lot of trouble with the help of Norman Osborn’s Sinister Twelve and Dark Avengers. The problem with a Venom movie featuring Gargan is that his story is too tied into a complex mythology to be compelling on its own. There’s ...

This Supercut Of Every Arnold Schwarzenegger Kill Ever Deserves Another Watch

by 18 mins ago

Arnold Schwarzenegger kills people in movies. It’s just one of the things people like to see him do on the big screen, and he’s been doing it for a long time. That’s what makes a mash-up of all of his kills so fun to watch… and 28 minutes long.

A version of this supercut got passed around a bunch back in 2013, but the lesser-viewed commentary version from the Auralnauts enriches the experience, just like a wonderful director’s commentary.

Exclusive ‘Fault In Our Stars’ Deleted Scene Breaks Our Hearts All Over Again

by 19 mins ago

The Fault in Our Stars” is finally out on Blu-ray, and on top of enjoying the story of Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters all over again, you’ll be able to check out the bevy of special features that are included on the disc.

For instance — just as an example — there’s the exclusive deleted scene we’ve embedded above.

The Blu-ray includes a bunch of deleted scenes that didn’t make the cut of the theatrical version of the movie, but that can be found in the extended edition. Here, Hazel attempts to get through airport security without her oxygen, a task that proves harder than she imagined.

“The Fault in Our Stars” is out on Blu-ray and DVD now.

This New ‘Interstellar’ Poster Is Great, But Can We Just See The Movie Already?

by 1 min ago

For being one of the most anticipated movies of the Fall, Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” is playing it really close to the vest. While the other big films coming out in the next few months are worrying about film festivals and early awards, “Interstellar” is just chilling and being like “Want to see a poster with Matthew McConaughey in a space suit?”

interstellar-poster

If you watched the last trailer, this isn’t a totally earth-shattering look at the mysterious new Nolan film, but if you’re like me, you’ll take any peek you can get.

So far, we know that McConaughey is a member of a crew that heads into space looking for another hospitable planet after humans went and screwed up the perfectly good planet they ended up on. (I’m talking about Earth.)

From there, who knows? There’s definitely a wormhole involved, since the concept is based on the work of physicist Kip Thorne, who also theorized about time travel, so that’s another possibility.

“Interstellar” will finally hit theaters on November 7.

After years of waiting, “Transformers” fans finally got to see Grimlock and the rest of the Dinobots on the big screen in Michael Bay’s retro toy franchise.

In the exclusive clip above, we get just a preview of the exhaustive work that went into bringing something new to the series. “New” just happens to mean “robotic dinosaurs” in this case.

Enormous ‘Hobbit: The Battle Of Five Armies’ Poster Has At Least Three Armies

by 53 mins ago

Whoa! That’s a lot of armies.

Up above, we’ve got the brand new, gigantic banner poster for “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies,” the conclusion to Peter Jackson’s prequel trilogy… for now.

Assuming that this is actually the last movie, “The Battle of Five Armies” will feature Smaug’s assault on Lake-town and the ensuing, titular fight over his treasure.

Hopefully there will be another trailer soon, but until then feast on this poster and imagine what it’s going to be like watching Galadriel, Elrond and Saruman come to Gandalf’s rescue, something only referenced in the Appendices. That’s what I’m showing up to see.

Also, this may help the time go by faster.

Go Behind The Scenes Of ‘Godzilla’s Amazing Final Fight

by 20 mins ago

I love “Godzilla.” There’s still a divide on whether Gareth Edward’s reboot of the legendary monster held back too much or just the right amount, but for my money, there wasn’t a more thrilling movie in theaters this summer.

And a lot of that had to do with the delayed gratification a lot of people complained about and how Edwards shot the kaiju. It’s old-school filmmaking, and it proved that the basic principles of directors like Spielberg still work.

In this exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette, Edwards explains his philosophy when it came to shooting the showdown between Godzilla and the M.U.T.O.s .

“Godzilla” hits Blu-ray and DVD on September 16.

How ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Is Making ‘Star Wars’ Better

by 6 mins ago

When Disney bought Lucasfilm, one of the comforting thoughts that fans of the series were often reminded of was that the company also owned Marvel Studios. The fact that the superhero house thrived under Disney in a way that pleased both investors and diehard fans gave a new hope to “Star Wars” fans.

The connection between Marvel’s success and “Star Wars” became clearer when Disney announced plans for annual trips to that galaxy far, far away, and now the studio’s CFO Jay Rasulo has made the link even stronger.

“We are doing what we do for our Disney franchises … with ‘Star Wars,’ and it is mirroring Marvel, but we already know the path, so it’s going to go faster, smoother, with the same goals,” Rasulo said (via The Hollywood Reporter), before mentioning that he hopes to attract more families and females like “Guardians of the Galaxy” did.

Now, Rasulo is coming from the corporate angle, which translates to “$$$,” but fans will hopefully benefit from this kind of talk.

Right now, Marvel Studios is doing something speculator for audiences. They’re making money through a model that rewards fans and respects the comic books. From Disney’s perspective, as long as the latter leads to the former, Marvel Studios is good to do whatever they want.

And we’re already seeing the positive effects from Marvel’s most recent success “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Even though Gamora was underserved by the story, the response from audiences means — hopefully — that going forward, ...

See The Full Batmobile In New ‘Batman V Superman’ Set Pics

by 9 mins ago

Filming on “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” has been going on in Detroit for a while without anything too scintillating leaking onto the web. A few weeks ago, we got a look at Superman’s new suit, but the Batman hasn’t appeared in public, just lame Bruce Wayne.

Well, finally someone has found something good near the set. Instagram user amacro13 took these pictures of the Batmobile, parked and dusty in Detroit.

The design isn’t all that surprising based on the looks we’ve gotten from Zack Snyder. The tires and angular design of the body screams of inspiration from Christopher Nolan’s tumblr (my new band name, btw), but it also borrows the longer, flatter look from Tim Burton’s movies.

Basically, the new Batmobile is designed as a happy middle ground between two very popular versions of the iconic ride, which seems like a good call on the production’s part.

“Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” opens in theaters on March 25, 2016.
