On this week’s episode of “16 and Pregnant,” we met Jazmin, a high school senior who was the apple of her parents’ eyes until she broke their house rules with her boyfriend, Dell, and wound up pregnant. Her mother and stepfather were openly disappointed, and even after little Laila arrived, they refused to change any of their strict regulations to accommodate the young couple.

In this bonus scene, Jazmin, who is due any day with her daughter, visits a pumpkin patch with her friend, Kiki. When they spot a crying baby nearby, the mom-to-be gets real about whether she’s up for the new responsibilities life is about to bring.

“I’m not ready, but I have to be ready,” she tells Kiki.

Kiki says she’s looking forward to watching Jazmin mature once Laila is born, and while Jazmin admits that caring for her daughter 24/7 will be a daunting task, she knows “there’s no giving up with your own child.”

“You’re stuck with [Laila] for life,” Kiki says, possibly as if the idea suddenly just occurred to her. “This is a lifetime commitment, even when she’s 40 and you’re…about 50-something!”

Jazmin was a high school senior with her sights set on a career in medicine, but Monday’s episode of “16 and Pregnant” showed her struggling to follow her dreams after an unexpected pregnancy.

As Jazmin adjusted to her new role as a mother, her own parents faced fresh challenges as well: namely, dealing with their feelings of betrayal after Jazmin broke the house rules and became pregnant. In response, Jazmin’s mom Teesha and her stepfather Brad hunkered down and refused to change any of the regulations that were already in place pre-pregnancy. Among the most restrictive: Jazmin and her boyfriend Dell couldn’t be alone without a parent present, and Dell wasn’t allowed in the house after 10 p.m.

“It’s hard because me and my mom are best friends, and having her trust is important,” Jazmin told a friend. She also worried that her parents’ rigidity would affect Dell’s relationship with their newborn Laila. “I just hope he has enough time with her — that time he wants and time he needs to get to know his daughter.”

But that didn’t happen. Dell’s busy work schedule often kept him from making the house curfew each night, and Jazmin began to yearn for his help with Laila so she could devote time to schoolwork. She also realized her relationship with Dell was disintegrating since the baby’s arrival. “It went from romantic to business really fast,” she admitted.

And Jazmin’s parents? They still wouldn’t ...

On this week’s episode of “16 and Pregnant,” we met Aleah, a reformed bad girl who worked hard to continue her education despite the approaching birth of her daughter, Peyton, fights with her boyfriend, Shawn, and health complications stemming from her diabetes. All the while, she refused to give up on having a career in medicine.

In this bonus scene, we see Aleah meet with her school counselor, Dia, to discuss her goals after giving birth. “My original plan was to be a surgeon,” Aleah explains, “but surgeons don’t have very much time with their families; they don’t have very much time with their husbands. I wanna raise my kids, so that was something I had to give up.”

Aleah may have abandoned her dreams of being a doctor, but the teen has set her eyes on nursing, even though it might take her a long time to complete the requirements.

“Don’t give it up too soon because you are doing medical assisting, which is a plus,” Dia says, reassuringly. “You are one of those young ladies that have the endurance, you have the integrity.” She then encourages Aleah to take her time, stick with the program and she’ll be on her way to nursing school sooner than she thinks.

“I hope that I can still prioritize,” Aleah responds. “Even though, yes, I have this beautiful baby at home, I need to get my career straight to support this beautiful baby.”

“Never give up on that,” Dia adds.

Financial problems can cause any relationship to falter, and on tonight’s episode of “16 and Pregnant,” we’ll meet Aleah, who gets into an ugly fight with her daughter’s father, Shawn, about him owing money for unpaid traffic tickets.

In the sneak peek below, we see the dispute quickly escalate as the young couple battle over the mounting fines. Aleah is understandably upset by her boyfriend’s irresponsible behavior, but Shawn’s mom, Angie, tries to downplay the issue.

“It’s gonna happen, you guys are gonna have money problems probably the rest of your life,” she tells the new parents.

Aleah senses there’s no use in arguing with both Shawn and his mother, and starts to gather her things to leave, but Shawn’s temper flares up.

“I don’t need a second mom, I need a girlfriend!” he shouts at her. “I need a mother of my children, not of me.”

After Aleah unsuccessfully tries to explain that the money could have been spent on Baby Peyton, Shawn tries to reason that “that’s what tax time’s for.”

Exhausted and defeated, Aleah says she needs to move out, but Shawn and Angie won’t let her take Peyton. “You better go find something to do to cool your f**king head because I’m keeping my daughter,” Shawn says, antagonistically. “[Peyton’s] not going nowhere.”
