I’m Confused: Justin Bieber ‘Shaved The Monster’?

by 27 mins ago

Earlier today, Justin Bieber revealed via Twitter that he “shaved the monster.” Because he posted the image via his always-promoted Shots app, the image didn’t automatically attach to the tweet, and you had to click through to see what he was referring to. It was, of course, his mustache, but I didn’t immediately know that, OK? In the four seconds it took me to decide whether or not I actually wanted to click through—I mean, I was on my work computer, so—a number of potential monsters raced through my brain. Basically my brain looked like this:

Did he mean Pikachu?

Or maybe the Loch Ness Monster?

Jennifer Lawrence Pool Hops In Diamonds And Gowns For ‘Vanity Fair’

by 23 mins ago

Vanity Fair released its November cover this morning and—whoa—not only did Jennifer Lawrence break her silence on the nude photo hack but looks totally stunning while doing doing so. VF released the cover and one photo from the spread, both shot by Patrick Demarchelier, which feature J.Law, a red lip, some bling, and her perfectly grown out bob in the jungle. Or at least, like, a pool surrounded by some foliage.

The photos, according to VF, were shot on July 29, a month before the photo leak. While Sam Kashner, the article’s author, met with Jennifer after the hack so she had a “a chance to have the last word,” they stuck with the originally shot photos. While the behind-the-scenes video describes Jen pool-hopping “in evening wear,” she is decidedly without any sequined or floor-length gowns in the two released photos.

In the lead photo from the spread, a cockatoo joins Jennifer and is so profesh he’s not even distracted by her shiny necklace or lipstick. Fellow bird models, take note.

The BTS video reveals a bunch of the evening wear promised in the description, including a sequined backless gown, a white satin mini dress, and more. Somehow, despite the seemingly humid temperatures, Jen’s hair looks perfectly undone.

The full spread and interview will be available digitally starting tomorrow, while the actual paper version will be on newsstands starting ...

Um, Did Beyonce Get Bangs And Not Tell Us?

by 20 mins ago

If you keep a close eye on Beyonce‘s website like we do, you become part of her inner circle. In between all her trips to beaches and museums, Bey seems to have gotten bangs and debuted them in a very low-key way. They didn’t get their own Instagram post, they weren’t even highlighted on Beyonce.com—nope, they just casually appeared under a hat.

BeyonceBeyonce.com

While B has had shorter layers in the front of her hair for a while, they’re not typically styled as ~bang-y~ as they are here. Because these are so deeply parted, we weren’t entirely sure they were, y’know, bangs when we first saw them.

BeyonceBeyonce.com

But then they came out in full force. They’re straight, across her face, and go very well with her blue croptop and skirt. Still, we weren’t convinced—maybe they were a one time thing, y’know? Maybe she just wanted to spice up the matching set, IDK.

BeyonceBeyonce.com

And then Bey posted this bright photo and the bangs are undeniable—with the rest of her hair pulled back in a ponytail, it’s clear that the bangs are for real.

This, of course, isn’t the first time Bey has worn her hair with a little fringe, but it’s been a while and most recently, they were way blunt and always joined by a high bun. Welcome back, BBs! We look forward to seeing you around.

Taylor Swift Reveals Her Hair Is A ‘Big Theme’ For New Album

by 17 mins ago

Last week, British Vogue unveiled their November issue starring Taylor Swift. We immediately noticed something was ~different~—but what was it? And then it hit us: Her forehead was visible for the first time in a long, long while. Well, it turns out the forehead-baring was an intentional move on photographer Mario Testino and Tay’s part—in fact, the pair worked together on Taylor’s first Vogue cover, and it was at that shoot that she decided to cut her Red-era bangs.

In a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot, Taylor and Mario discuss her hair and how her bangs “completely ended up changing the way that [she] looked for the next two years.” While the initial plan was just to have fake bangs under the hat, Taylor decided to cut them in the heat of the moment.

The duo go on to discuss the overall aesthetic she’s toying with for 1989, which, fittingly, mixes “’80s and ’90s styles” with classics. Taylor also casually mentions to Testino that her short hair is “a big theme in the album,” which, um, what?

Sure, that’s probably not quite what she meant to say, but I still want to know: Are there mentions to hair flipping made easier, or, like, entire songs dedicated to how styling short hair is different than long hair? Or, maybe, the references are more subtle with the words “chopped” or “flowing” thrown ...

You Can Now Wear Your Love Of Drake’s Emoji Tattoo On Your (Literal) Sleeve

by 16 mins ago

If you’ve been looking to pay homage to Drake‘s (supposed) new emoji tattoo but didn’t want to actually, y’know, ink your body forever with a tiny set of praying hands, today is your lucky day. Drake’s Emoji Tattoos—a Tumblr that imagines what Drake would look like with other tiny symbols etched onto his body—just released a long-sleeve Drake-inspired shirt.

The shirt features a large 6 on the front—Toronto 4eva, y’all—and the emoji hands on the right arm in approximately the same place Drizzy has his. Though the placement is accurate, the color of the actual emoji hands’ sleeves has been changed from blue to white—it fits in with the monochromatic color scheme better this way, OK?

The back features “#BLSSD” which, fittingly, ties in with the praying hands (THEY ARE NOT HIGH-FIVING—LET THAT FANTASY GO) and lets people know your life status when you’re wearing the shirt.

You can pre-order the shirt for $35 right now, and by November, you just might reconsider actually getting some emoji ink for yourself.

‘Faking It’ Fans, Here’s How To Get A #Karmy Shirt Of Your Own

by 21 mins ago

As you probably know, Faking It returned last week, and we’re excited. Like, so excited. After the premiere last week, I have very high hopes for the outfits this season, and that’s thanks to Beth Ann Hoppe, Season Two’s costume designer. I was lucky enough to chat with Beth about last night’s episode, including Amy’s overalls and those #Karmy sleepover shirts.

Faking ItMTV

While some Amy’s crippling guilt from last week has abated, her on point style has not, thankfully. Beth said she thinks of Amy as a “feminine tomboy,” which I’d agree with, especially given those overalls she wore last night. They were like normal jeans with a bib and suspenders attached and, um, kinda perfect. Beth revealed she actually found the overalls at Wet Seal on her first shopping trip for the show—talk about something Amy is meant to wear, right? Yeah.

Faking ItMTV

She expanded on her fondness for the ’90s style, saying, “The new ’90s silhouette is much more fitted, streamlined, and modern compared to the slouchy grunge overalls I wore in high school.” She also revealed who she looks to as inspiration for Amy, calling out “Alexa Chung, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Lou Doillon—women who can definitely pull off masculine looks without looking masculine.”

Faking ItMTV

The other noteworthy look from the episode—besides that fleeting glance we got at Shane’s Frozen costume, obviously—were the #Karmy shirts Leila and Lisbeth wore to crash Karma and Amy’s ...

Taylor Swift’s Forehead Makes Rare Appearance On ‘Vogue’ Cover

by 20 mins ago

There may only be three months left in 2014, but they’re gearing up to be huge for Taylor Swift. Her new album, 1989, is coming out on October 27 and she just landed her first British Vogue cover.

And what a cover it is. Her normally perfectly-coiffed bob is slicked back and—gasp—slightly undone. And then, acting as the G in “Vogue,” is her forehead—something we haven’t seen in many a moon. I wasn’t even sure if she still had a forehead, TBH. Below are quite a few freckles, which seem like they may be courtesy of a freckle pencil. Have you seen Taylor Swift with freckles before? Maybe all those beach trips with Lorde brought ‘em out? IDK. Either way, below her newfound freckles she wears a pale pink Miu Miu jacket and cable knit blue dress.

Taylor SwiftBritish Vogue

While the full spread isn’t out, Vogue UK shared another image from the shoot and—gasp x2—her hair is even more undone. Those bangs are going crazy, y’all. The color scheme remains the same, but here, Swift introduces a pair of purple paisley heels. The whole thing is very late ’80s, no? Pretty fitting considering the name of her new album, just sayin’.

While the interview isn’t out yet, you can head over to Vogue UK’s website for excerpts that will tide ...

Chanel’s Paris Fashion Week Show Ended With A Feminist Protest

by 8 mins ago

Last week, feminism had a pretty landmark week thanks to Emma Watson’s launch of the #HeForShe campaign (also, Lena Dunham doled out sage advice about pasties, but I digress). Well, feminism is about to have another great week (and on and on for every week in the future, please?) because the Chanel Spring/Summer 2015 show at Paris Fashion Week set out on a mission to merge feminism and fashion. The reviews are mixed, but the discourse it’s creating—a debate over whether the show is a display of genuine feminism or an attempt to capitalize on the at-the-moment “trendiness” of the fight for gender equality—is of benefit to everyone.

ChanelGetty Images

Chanel’s ties to feminism can be traced back to the Coco Chanel-designed collections. Coco was a pioneer in adopting fabrics, pieces, and silhouettes that had been previously reserved for men. While certainly not single-handedly (*cough*Katharine Hepburn*cough*), we very much have Chanel to thank for popularizing pants for women. Can you imagine life without pants? No gracias.

Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection called back to that, showing tweed suits with roomy trousers and metal #CCcertified attache cases, but it was the end of the show that has sparked a firestorm of conversation.

ChanelGetty Images

The show’s finale was led by a megaphone-toting (Chanel-branded, natch) Cara Delevingne, who was joined by the likes of Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls, Gisele Bundchen, and more. In addition to, y’know, ...

Holland Roden Slays In BCBGeneration’s Fall Campaign

by 3 mins ago

Life is hard when Teen Wolf is on hiatus, y’know? You miss your wolf pack pals, you long to hear a joke from Stiles, and you try (and most likely fail) to pair patterns like Lydia. Well Lydia IRL—a.k.a. Holland Roden—has eased the pain of missing our faves a little by starring in a campaign for BCBGeneration’s fall collection. Not only starring, but slaying, TBH.

Holland RodenBCBGeneration

Holland is fully ready for fall in a slew of sweaters, skirts, and jackets that have us ready for colder weather. A houndstooth skirt with a turtleneck? Yes, please.

Holland RodenBCBGeneration

Even offscreen, Holland reps Lydia’s love of florals. She pairs a flow-y, flower-y skirt and a similarly printed clutch with a waffle-stitch pullover. Hi, perfect Sunday outfit.

Even better than the images, though, is the accompanying video, which features Holland walking through the streets of New York in a bunch of different looks from the collection.

My hair is never gently tossed around like that when I’m outside, just sayin’.

Lady Gaga Reveals ‘Jazz Makes Me Not Care About The Way I Look’

by 17 mins ago

Last year at this time, Lady Gaga was all ARTPOP everything. There was face paint, Botticelli babe bikinis, merkin masks, and more. It was a lot of look and a decidedly different one from the one she’s been favoring during promotion of Cheek To Cheek, her jazz album with Tony Bennett. Gaga—err, “Lady,” as she introduces herself now—spoke with Yahoo about her relationship with fashion, her new look, and more. Below we’ve pulled a few of our fave excerpts from the interview—head over to Yahoo to peep the entire thing.

Related: Lady Gaga And Tony Bennett’s ‘Cheek To Cheek’: A Track By Track Breakdown

As far as fashion reflecting her mood, ARTPOP and Cheek To Cheek are on opposite ends of the spectrum: During ArtPop my mood was kind of a mess. It was erratic. I was shape shifting on a daily basis trying to find my happiness. With Cheek to Cheek, it’s totally different. I’m in a serene place. I feel I’m my peaceful, young musician self. I’ve been enjoying dressing up, and you know, feeling like a lady.

There’s a reason she’s mostly a brunette these days: I had been working with Tony for two years recording, and [when we started] I was quite blond, but I found the sexuality of it all to be quite distracting. It was unnatural in a way. So I began to experiment with the hair that I had back in ...
