Hood By Air And Off-White Teamed Up For The Ultimate Cozy Boy Collaboration

by 20 mins ago

“This is what dreams are made of,” is probably your first reaction to seeing Hood By Air and Off-White‘s bed set, newly available at VFiles. Two of streetwear’s most gifted designers teamed up on a capsule collection for VFiles that you can sleep in—and you’re never going to want to change come laundry day. It’s all part of a collaboration to coincide with the release of NYC photographer Kevin Amato‘s first book, called, of course, Cozy.

HBA and Off-White took that title and ran with it, creating a massive 90″ x 90″ duvet and pillow set (for your reference, a California king-size bed is 72″ x 84″). And HBA’s Shayne Oliver and Off-White’s Virgil Abloh are fitting designers to tackle a capsule collection inspired by Amato’s work, since he too is known for blurring the lines between streetwear and art.

As for the graphic HBA chose—a man sitting in the dark in bed, illuminated by his computer screen—Amato has an eloquent explanation for it.

He believes that social media platforms are the new museums and fashion and retail are “the new currency.” “Young kids can’t relate to the formal institutionalized museums. They relate more to Tumblr and Instagram for art references and inspiration,” he says. “The platform has evolved, which inspired the capsule. A way to introduce fine art in an accessible and culturally relevant way to a whole new generation. A generation that absorbs information via blue glowing ...

Pharrell Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop Adding New Colors To His Adidas Collection

by 11 mins ago

Pharrell can’t stop, won’t stop. In the midst of Pharrell Week at Colette in Paris, Skateboard P is gifting us with even more of his designs. This time, he’s remaking his three track jackets for Adidas in brand new colors. The latest additions, which come in new perforated leather—a move that makes it feel a little more like an athletic garment (baby steps)—have a tropical feel.

If you’re up for a challenge, there’s a kiwi green jacket which will keep you entertained for hours as you try to find a place for it in your current wardrobe.

Then there’s a bright orange one which would go great with jeans.

And, for all of our summertime and springtime leather needs, Pharrell made the jacket in white.

Considering Pharrell recently shared a colorwheel of Adidas sneakers with the #Supercolor, we’re guessing the matching shoes are on the way. And we won’t be surprised if Pharrell has even more Adidas jackets and sneakers in the works.

Pharrell Poses In A Rainbow of Stan Smiths, But What Does It Mean?

by 39 mins ago

Pharrell has done just about everything one can do to the Stan Smith. He’s doodled and painted on them, used them as a platform for his political beliefs, and blinged them out. But he’s not done yet. Pharrell has now dyed them in them in every color imaginable. It’s almost as if he looked at every shade Lupita Nyong’o’s worn, took that rainbow to Adidas and said “Go.”

Skater P posted a pic of his crayon box of a sneaker collection on Instagram with the hashtag #Supercolor which sounds more like a code name for his next collaboration with Adidas. Maybe Pharrell will release matching leather track jackets to go with them, like he did with his recent Stan Smith collab? Or that could just be wishful thinking on our part and in reality Adidas produced all of the shoes just so P could visualize and pick out his next batch of shoes. Either way, Pharrell has something new coming up because Adidas reposted his picture with a March 2015 release date promised. Our calendars are officially marked.

If he needs a model, we know a woman who pulls off every color well.

Been Trill Already Has A Response To A$AP Rocky’s ‘Multiply’ Dis

by 16 mins ago

It hasn’t even been 24 hours since A$AP Rocky dropped his shade-throwing “Multiply” video, where he calls out Been Trill and Hood By Air, and someone is already cashing in on his beef. That someone is Been Trill designer Heron Preston, who is proving to be one of the smartest people in streetwear.

Heron is now selling t-shirts printed with a screenshot of A$AP’s Been Trill dis for $50, as part of his Heron Preston Bootleg series. As eye-catching and lightning fast as the design is, the real genius behind it is how he’s subverting and reappropriating A$AP’s critique—”I ain’t really f****** with that Been Trill, swear that s*** is booty like Tip Drill/ And I ain’t really into throwing shots, but these motherf****** better gimme my props!”—into his own profit.

It’s an interesting move for a couple of reasons: Heron is not only turning coin on Rocky’s shots, he’s also making a smart commentary on how fashion and rap have become intertwined. In another Instagram post, he writes:

“what happened to rapper on rapper beef? the days of biggie vs tupac & jay z vs nas are over. Remember how Nas’s ‘Ether’ or Tupac’s ‘Hit Em Up’ made you feel? Remember what that meant for rap music? The fact that a rapper dissed a clothing company is a ...

A$AP Rocky Takes Shots At Hood By Air And Been Trill In ‘Multiply’ Video

by 30 mins ago

While you were sleeping, A$AP Rocky made his return, running out of the gates and swinging with “Multiply.” “I’m the motherf******* lord of this fashion s***/don’t I deserve just to brag a bit,” Rocky declares, chest fully puffed up.

But this isn’t the Fashion Killa we’ve come to know, because unlike Rocky’s previous fashion-packed tracks, he’s taking shots at designers on his new one—namely Hood By Air and Been Trill.

If you paid close attention to Rocky’s Coachella cameo this year during A$AP Ferg’s performance, you won’t be surprised by his Been Trill dis. He called out the art collective, helmed by Kanye’s right-hand man Virgil Abloh, while first unveiling the verse: ““I ain’t really f****** with that Been Trill, swear that s*** is booty like Tip Drill/ And I ain’t really into throwing shots, but these motherf****** better gimme my props!”

But Rocky’s attack on Hood by Air—”HBA s*** is weak, you can keep that/ I’m a trendsetter you ain’t even peeped that”—comes completely out of the blue. Flacko has been championing HBA from its humble beginnings, repping the brand on stage and in his lyrics and even closing one of designer Shayne Oliver’s very first runway shows. Rocky’s early support was arguably one of the reasons the brand landed on the radars of Kanye, Drake, ...

Soon You’ll Be Able To See Pharrell’s Collaborations All In One Place

by 5 mins ago

At some point in between designing a lamp and making jeans made out of recycled plastic from the ocean, we lost count of all of Pharrell‘s collaborations this year. But luckily, Colette—the upscale French retailer with the most empathy for our memory loss—is holding a special installation where you can grab all of Skateboard P’s collabs in one place. Thank you based Colette—first you brought us the Apple Watch and now this.

If you happen to be in Paris between October 13 and 18, you can drop by the store to find Pharrell’s train-shaped handbags for Moynat, the leather Adidas track jackets he designed, his red six-inch Timberlands, and his Kaws-designed Comme des Garçons GIRL fragrance.

Perhaps the sweetest part (heh) of the event, though, is the food that’ll be served. Ladurée, the famed Parisian macaron and favorite of fashion people worldwide, has prepared a special box of six exclusives flavors for the event. Because collaborating with, like, every brand on the planet isn’t enough, you know you’ve really made it when you have exclusive cookie flavors, right?

Hey, P, your friends in the U.S. would like some cookies, too. Thanks!

Who Wore A Super Huge Hat Better: Zendaya Or Lorde?

by 20 mins ago

We are officially living in the era of Pharrell’s hat. Since Skateboard P became a contender for most unforgettable Grammys outfit of all time, his Vivienne Westwood number has become so embedded into culture, designers like Donna Karan, Karen Walker, and Ryan Roche put their own spin on it during New York’s spring 2015 fashion week. Now, both Zendaya and Lorde are getting in on the big hat trend with nearly-identical oversized black toppers.

Both stars went with a similarly minimal all-black approach, but Lorde had a little more fun with the comical proportion of the hat, pairing it with an oversized V-neck shirt.

ZendayaGetty Images

Zendaya, on the other hand, went for a sleeker, more avant-garde look at Teen Vogue’s Young Hollywood party by sporting her hat with an Emporio Armani wide-leg jumpsuit that we need in our closets ASAP.

Related: Lorde Or Pharrell: Who Wore The Giant Hat Best?

Picking between the two literally feels like splitting hairs since their hairstyles—Lorde’s tousled long curls and Zendaya’s up-do, hidden beneath her hat—were the biggest difference. So, what do you think: who wore it better?

A Brief History Of Kimye’s Matching Outfits

by 1 min ago

The #WORLDSMOSTTALKEDABOUTCOUPLE have been living up to their reputation this Paris Fashion Week. From bringing North to her first fashion show (Balenciaga) to parading around the city in regal outfits, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been doing victory laps in the City of Light. But yesterday Kanye and Kim made their most PFW headlines yet when they sat front row and showed off their, um, matching cleavage (kleavage?). This isn’t the first time Kimye’s matching game has been on point, though. We rounded up a bunch of the times they’ve been sartorially in sync.

While on the way to pick up their outfits for their engagement dinner at Versailles, Kim and Kanye visited the Martin Maison Margiela showroom in opposite camel and black outfits.

Fittingly, their Margiela engagement dinner outfits were just as coordinated. Kim put her spin on Bianca Jagger’s all-white wedding suit and Kanye wore a similar spirited look. They not only matched their satin lapels, they also matched, for the first time, their cleavage.

Kim Kardashian, Kanye WestGetty Images

They tested out coordinated suits back in 2013, in these monochrome Spy vs. Spy looks.

On their honeymoon, Kimye kept up their matching game and sipped tea from the fanciest couch I’ve ever seen on grass while wearing all-white outfits.

But Kim and Kanye do casual matching just as well. Their matching game is even strong when they’re ziplining! Just look at their matching black tanks, helmets, and sneakers. OK, ...

North West Sits Front Row At Paris Fashion Week

by 31 mins ago

The Wests have arrived at Paris Fashion Week. We had a feeling they wouldn’t miss it. What we didn’t realize, though, is that the #WORLDSMOSTTALKEDABOUTBABY would be sitting front row at shows.

And silly us, because OF COURSE she would be. Today marks North West’s first Fashion Week and, of all the shows she could have gone to first, she chose Balenciaga. Baby girl has good taste. But we already knew that.

In addition to already having her own Vogue spread, CR Fashion Book feature where fashion’s overlord Karl Lagerfeld proclaimed she’s the future of fashion—or something like that—and a wardrobe that rivals her dad’s, North West is now a sitting front row at one of the biggest fashion shows on the calendar. TBH, I won’t be surprised when she replaces Anna Wintour as the editor-in-chief of Vogue on her 18th birthday.

So, what does fashion’s favorite baby wear to Paris Fashion Week? You know it’s not going to be a onesie. North showed up in a leather skirt and a custom Wes Lang-designed Yeezus tee.

She’ll be going to more shows, right? What will she wear? Wow. I can’t wait to see how Nori’s first Fashion Week plays out. I just can’t.

Coach Taps Banks, Zoe Kravitz, And More For Its Latest Campaign

by 38 mins ago

After scoring a V magazine cover and, more recently, playing a handful of New York Fashion Week shows, it looks like Banks has officially become fashion’s newest music darling. The long-haired L.A. R&B siren just landed her first campaign—for Coach—and, not surprisingly, it’s a stunner.

BanksCoach

Banks makes hat hair look like it’s a blessing in the new Coach images. Posted up in a ’70s-styled outfit with a fedora, she manages to add a romantic, feminine feel to a leather skirt, which is not an easy feat to pull off.

Zoe KravitzCoach

She’s joined in the campaign by fellow musician, Zoe Kravitz. IMO, she deserves the campaign just based on her rain face alone—and the fact that she’s managed to take any creepiness out of a sweater that refers to The Shining.

Charlie AbbottCoach

Christopher Abbott, aka Charlie from Girls, also gets caught in the rain and looks equally unbothered, despite wearing a shearling-lined leather jacket. That’s gonna take so long to dry, Chris! So, so long.

Odeya RushCoach

Actress Odeya Rush, who just starred in The Giver, actually has us excited for colder weather, looking super cozy in an oversized shearling coat.

Coach’s new ads are another step in the company’s ongoing rebrand at the hands of Stuart Vevers. Even though these ads haven’t hit yet—they’re due out this holiday season—we’re already excited to see who they tap for spring.
