The Best Carlton Dances On ‘Fresh Prince,’ Ranked By Emotional Impact

by 7 mins ago

It’s been almost 20 years since Alfonso Ribeiro played Carlton Banks on “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” so when he brought his famous ’90s dance moves to “Dancing with the Stars” last week — complete with a recreated “Fresh Prince” living room set, a preppy sweater, and Carlton’s favorite song, Tom Jones’ “It’s Not Unusual” — the internet exploded with happiness overload:

No doubt, Ribeiro and partner Witney Carson deserved all those perfect 10s for the immaculately executed nostalgia factor. But this isn’t the first time his dancing has brought viewers sheer joy. Here are Carlton’s dance moments ranked from purely goofy to actually heartstring-pulling…

10. Carlton invents twerking?
Episode: S02, E24, “Strip-Tease for Two”
Emotional impact: Is “awkward” an emotion?

Will and Carlton pawn off Vivian Banks’ bracelet in a get-rich-quick scheme that doesn’t pan out, so they must raise $500 to buy it back. The quickest way to do that? Becoming male strippers! Carlton’s debut as an aspiring Chippendale comes to a sudden end when an unexpected guest shows up: His mom. It’s a ridiculous scene, not an emotional one, though you have to root for an uptight guy getting out of his shell for once — or, in this case, his cardigan.

9. Carlton boards the Soul Train
Episode: S05, E08, “Soooooooul Train”
Emotional impact: Just fun

Uncle Phil proposed to Aunt Vivian on the classic TV show, so they return for its 25th anniversary with their family. That’s an emotional moment for the characters themselves, but as for Carlton’s ...

Scientists Are Growing Penises In Labs, So Welcome To The Future

by 7 mins ago

We already knew that lab-grown meat is coming, but we didn’t realize that lab-grown meat is actually, uh, y’know.

Over the weekend, The Guardian reported on breakthrough research at North Carolina’s Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine. Scientists there have used cells to grow “half a dozen human penises,” with the ultimate goal of attaching such bioengineered phalli to men who’ve suffered “genital defects, traumatic injury, surgery for aggressive penile cancer, or even jilted lovers exacting revenge.”

It’s a project that has already led to successfully attached lab-grown human bladders in 1999 and human vaginas in 2005, as well as fully functional penises for a dozen rabbits, some of which even became bunny-daddies afterward. However, the scientists warn, this technology is many years away from hitting the commercial market for dudes.

“Even though we can make them in a very small mammal, we have to tweak the technology, the processes, the ratio of cells and so on, to get larger and larger structures,” lead researcher Dr. Anthony Atala told the Guardian, adding, “But we’re trying to get approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration so we know everything is perfect before we move to a first in-man test.”

Atala hopes to start by merely fixing damaged cells that cause erectile dysfunction in otherwise intact men. But eventually, he wants to make current methods of full reconstruction obsolete, since they date back to the 1970s and ...

Are Phillies Fans The Funniest Fanbase In Baseball?

by 21 mins ago

Philadelphia is known for a lot of things — the Liberty Bell, the cheesesteak, the hilarious TV show that (for the most part) isn’t actually filmed there — and, of course, its sports fans, who have a reputation for getting a little…um…passionate.

For example, during a game against Atlanta last Saturday, Phillies fans joined together to mock the bird-like stance of Braves closing pitcher Craig Kimbrel in the final inning:

kimbrel_philliesNBC/MLB

As MLB’s Cut4 blog put it, there’s “a new workout craze coming out of Philadelphia called The Kimbrel. It’s great for strengthening those shoulders and delts.” The trolling didn’t change the score — the Braves won 4-2 — but it did seem to throw Kimbrel off his game. Here’s the full video:

Even if you’re not from Philly, you have to admit this is pretty f—king funny. And it’s not the first time Phillies fans have brought a (grudging) smile to the faces of their sworn enemies.

We asked two comedians, Chris Distefano (from MTV2′s “Guy Code” and “Off The Bat From The MLB Fan Cave”) and Philadelphia’s own Sean Green (from the Sports Gambling Podcast) to weigh in with their own stories of Philly fans being hilarious…

Chris Distefano
“I haven’t been to Philly or even had any experience with any of the Phillies. I will say that I know they are crazed in any sport, and even their comedy audiences produce the most hecklers ever! I think it comes down to them being ...

Two Female Teachers Arrested For Threesome With Male Student

by 2 mins ago

They were supposed to teach English, but two public school instructors in Louisiana face jail time for a lesson on “ménage à trois.”

Earlier this week, police arrested 24-year-old Rachel Respess and 32-year-old Shelley Dufresne, both staff members at Destrehan High School, for group sex with a 16-year-old student (who has since turned 17), which allegedly took place after a football game last month. Dufresne is also accused of abusing the student on a separate occasion, though her lawyer insists that she is innocent.

After the alleged threesome, which may have been recorded, the student was “bragging to other students that he was having a sexual relationship with teachers,” police told the Times-Picayune. It didn’t take long for the story to reach administrators, who contacted authorities.

The teachers, now suspended without pay, have posted bond, though Dufresne is reportedly under house arrest. They’re scheduled to appear in court next month to face numerous charges, including carnal knowledge of a juvenile and contributing to a juvenile’s delinquency.

“No matter what sex the victim is, everyone should be outraged,” local police chief Michael Glaser said during a press conference. “You have an educator. Their responsibility is the safety and the education of children. … They should have known better.”

The arrest has made headlines all over the world. Dufresne is now the top Google result for “Shelley,” ahead of “Teen Wolf” actress Shelley ...

Grab Your Crotch To Raise Men’s Health Awareness With #FeelingNuts

by 1 min ago

We’re still a month away from Movember, when dudes are encouraged to grow mustaches to raise attention for men’s health issues, but there’s a new online campaign that — considering the potential embarrassment factor — takes even more balls.

Created in England by the organization Check One Two, the hashtag #FeelingNuts aims to “get everyone checking their love grenades.” It’s been going for a couple weeks, with 5 Seconds Of Summer and chef Jamie Oliver posting their pics…

But #FeelingNuts didn’t quite take off like the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge…at least, not until Hugh Jackman shared this epic crotch grab video yesterday:

(Granted, Wolverine would be impervious to testicular cancer, since his healing factor would keep his mutant balls lump-free, but it’s cool he’s looking out for the rest of us.)

Jackman nominated “The Office” mastermind Ricky Gervais to follow in his footsteps (handsteps?), who in turn nominated “Star Trek” legend William Shatner:

ricky gervais feelingnuts

“Arrested Development” and “BoJack Horseman” star Will Arnett also joined the fun:

will arnett feeling nuts

Oh, and these ones are kinda awesome…

Facebook and Twitter aren’t quite swelling with #FeelingNuts pics (yet), but even if millions of users don’t share their self-squeezes on social media like they did with ice water drenchings — though it’s possible to accomplish both challenges simultaneously — the important thing is that guys pay attention to the health message. Check One Two has you covered ...

Craigslist Won’t Let Man Exchange MLB Playoff Tix For A Threesome

by 2 mins ago

This is one trade that won’t be happening this season.

A guy in the Washington, D.C. metro area had an extra pair of tickets to Friday’s Washington Nationals playoff game against a TBD team. And these weren’t nosebleed seats at all — the Diamond Club “tickets include all you can drink beer & wine as well as all you can eat gourmet food,” he explained in a Craiglist post earlier this week.

Even though the tickets were listed under “all for sale / wanted > tickets – by owner,” and he could’ve gotten a pretty penny — similar ones are going for nearly $600 on StubHub — this guy was more interested in bartering: “I am willing to part with these tickets to you and a friend in exchange for a threesome (two women only).”

Now, before you go assuming this is some old gross dude, he assures potential partners, “I am not some old gross dude, actually 24 and athletic.” He’s also successful enough to not “really need the extra money”– sounding more and more like a catch, right, ladies? — and has “always wanted to take place in a threesome.” Here’s the full post…

This Is How Many Followers You’ll Lose By Tweeting About Your Breakup

by 20 mins ago

Aside from how much money you make, our society gauges your success in life by two main criteria: 1) Whether a fellow human being loves you, and 2) are you a big deal on the internet?

You might think these factors are independent of each other. For example, most of the people who seem like big deals on the internet fail to actually make any money in the real world. But a new study from the University of Michigan, Aalto University and the Qatar Computing Research Institute has linked romantic failure to social media failure, because nobody wants to read a bunch of weepy, emo status messages about how you’re a piece of s–t destined to die alone.

Psychological researchers examined 661 unmarried couples’ Twitter usage, after whittling the sample set down from 40,000. While they were mostly looking for how partners communicate before and after a breakup, they noticed “a previously undocumented phenomenon…where users who break up experience sudden drops of 15-20 followers and friends.”

Yep, tweeting about your heartbreak will cost you 15-20 tweeps, based on an average following of about 300.

One explanation is that the lost followers tend to be one of the partner’s friends, only following the other partner “due to social pressure.” Another is that an “increased usage of ‘depressed’ terms after the breakup” is intolerable to everybody else — here are word clouds comparing the most common ...

Are You Handling Your Breakup Like An Adult? A Quiz For The Recently Dumped

by 28 mins ago

“Let’s just be friends.”

Those four words sting, no doubt about it, but getting dumped can actually be a good thing. You’ll learn (and fix) some of your worst flaws; you’ll learn (and avoid) personality types you’re incompatible with; and you’ll learn (yeah, right) that you can walk away from rejection without acting like a complete jackass.

Unfortunately, though, heartbreak doesn’t always lead to the most rational decisions. It’s perilously easy to make a tense situation far more dramatic than it needs to be. So, before you do anything impulsive — especially on social media — take this quiz to discover whether you’re thinking about this breakup with a clear head…or, y’know, not thinking at all.

Pete Davidson Killed It On ‘Saturday Night Live,’ Says Everybody

by 40 mins ago

A lot of comedians — like, millions of them — spend decades hoping that “Saturday Night Live” will notice their talent. Pete Davidson graduated from high school just a few years ago, and he’s already being acknowledged as the long-running NBC show’s best new addition, thanks to his debut performance a couple nights ago.

Here at MTV, we already knew that Pete had a crazy bright future ahead of him. Over the past couple seasons of MTV2′s “Guy Code,” he’s delivered many of the funniest lines. Word got to “SNL” executive producer Lorne Michaels, and earlier this month Pete signed on to be a featured player.

So, how’d he do in his first bit? Dude killed it! Appearing on “Weekend Update” alongside new anchor Michael Che (another MTV vet), Pete mocked homophobia, pointing out that every guy has a price. “Pete, you must be gay?” he asked rhetorically. “No, I’m a businessman!” Watch the video below:

Everyone from “SNL” fans to TV critics called it the episode’s funniest moment — Just Jared even tweeted that Pete “stole the whole show tonight.” Here are other reactions from Twitter…

Matt Mitovich (TVLine.com):

Mike Ryan (ScreenCrush):

Dave Itzkoff (The New York Times):

You Can Now Watch ‘Girl Code’ And ‘Guy Code’ For College Credit

by 28 mins ago

Think of your future, kids. Enroll in Code College.

It was only a matter of time until “Guy Code” and “Girl Code” (which returns to MTV Wednesday, October 1 at 11/10c) officially entered the canon of Western civilization, and that moment is now. Arizona State University’s online school requires nearly 1,000 students per semester to critique the shows — which present comedic takes on modern gender and social dynamics — as part of its “Women & Sexuality” curriculum. Although a professor tells us that students’ reactions aren’t always positive, hey, at least they don’t have to buy another textbook, right?

We became aware of the homework assignment thanks to 22-year-old ASU Online student (and bikini model) Brandi Bondoc, who tweeted earlier this month…

Brandi explained in an email, “We had to watch an episode of the show and write a discussion board post afterwards.” Here’s the full assignment:

“Analyze the television show utilizing some of the following guiding questions: Does ‘Girl Code’ or ‘Guy Code’ perpetuate or resist heteronormative ideals? Does it perpetuate or challenge double standards? What does ‘Girl Code’ or ‘Guy Code’ say about normative female sexuality? What doesn’t it say? Please use this units readings to inform your analysis.”

From that wording, we kind of assumed the professor loathes the shows and considers them as progressive as a 1950s guidebook for housewives hellbent on cooking the perfect roast for their husbands, and then giving the perfect foot rub. But we called up Dr. Elena Frank, ...
