Ever since Twitter became a common method of online communication, fans have had direct lines to their favorite actors, musicians and other public figures, and many celebrities, like Tracie Thoms of “Rent,” have appreciated the chance to chat with their followers. On tonight’s “Catfish,” Thoms shared a story about a lovely young woman named Sammie whom she’d met through the social media site, and who won Tracie over with supportive tweets, encouraging videos and hilarious memes. But after a while, things between the two became strange, and soon, Sammie graduated from superfan into…something else.

Upon meeting Max and Nev, Tracie explained that Sammie had e-introduced her to Reese, Sammie’s supposed best friend and fellow fan of the actress’ work. After some pleasant back-and-forth between the new online pals, Reese suddenly announced that she had cancer, and that her time left on earth was limited. Before Tracie knew it, Sammie shared the news of Reese’s passing.

Understandably, things just didn’t add up for Tracie. She decided to do some “Catfish” sleuthing of her own and discovered that a photo Sammie had posted of Reese’s funeral was a fake after phoning up the facility’s director. When Tracie proceeded to confront Sammie via direct message, Sammie suddenly went radio silent, and Reese’s tweets began to mysteriously disappear. Tracie, Nev and Max concluded that Sammie must have cooked up the character to get attention and sympathy — what’s more, they also discovered that Sammie, all the while, had ...

For a moment on tonight’s “Faking It” episode, it looked like Karma had lost it all.

After storming out of the threesome-that-never-was, she decided to “break up” with her “girlfriend” Amy to spare her BFF-in-earnest any more pain. But in the process, her classmates — who had championed Karmy’s relationship — were furious. And when they pointed their collective finger at Liam for the girls’ split — well, yeah, the group sex was his idea — Liam severed all ties with Karma and fled to Hester High’s art room to escape scorn.

Racked with guilt, makeshift PR guru Karma tried to soften the blow to Liam’s reputation by using the school’s gossip Tumblr to blame herself and Amy for the fallout. First, she considered citing the girls’ different plans for colleges as the cause of their undoing. But when that wasn’t enough to sate the student body, she falsely (and publicly) labeled Amy a sex addict. After Jake gave the feisty redhead the heave-ho in embarrassing fashion — and proceeded to humiliate her in front of her peers — Tamara swore off her ex. On tonight’s episode, she vowed to move on by bedding a more sophisticated college guy at Southern Coast University, but when she, Jenna and Sadie made it to campus, Tamara didn’t get quite what she bargained for…

Instead of the picture-perfect Abercrombie models that had blinded T when she first visited the school, she was quickly surrounded by foul-mouthed zombies who were too consumed with studying for midterms to bathe. Dead Stacy‘s tragic drunk driving story may have become a cautionary tale for Palos Hills High School students, but getting behind the wheel is still an issue for Jenna, Matty and their “Awkward” pals. Every time one of the gang fires up his or her engine, disaster seems to follow in the form of breakups, drug busts, shattered glass and more.

But there’s still hope for the age 16-and-up crowd to safely get from Point A to Point B, because as Sadie Saxton proved earlier this season, public transportation is a reliable alternative to the hassle of hatchbacks, sedans and 4x4s. Having sex, especially for the first time, is a matter of personal preference: For some people, with the proper precautions considered, it’s not such a big deal. For others, the act carries a pretty remarkable weight. This summer, MTV will follow 15 young adults with one thing in common — they’re virgins — and whether they’re trying to lose their V-cards, or keep them safely tucked in their pockets for as long as possible, being pure is really starting to grate on them.

In this trailer for new docu-series “Virgin Territory,” you’ll get an early look at the struggles of celibacy — intentional or otherwise. Some of the show’s features feel obligations to stay chaste for their churches, some want to remain abstinent until marriage and, on the other end of things, some are ready to finally take the leap into officially being sexually active.

Four young adults will share their stories in each episode, and on the premiere, you’ll get acquainted with Dominque, Kyle, Lisa and Mikaela. Lisa and Dominique both intend to keep their purity rings fastened on tightly until they say “I do,” while Kyle and Mikaela are ready to leave their virginal selves behind…as long as they find the right partners first.

The standout baseball star officially graduated from pre-K this morning, his delighted mom tweeted, and her message couldn’t have been sweeter: “I’m so proud of the awesome boy he has become. Loss is never easy, but we can take solace in the fact that one beloved synthetic hairpiece is in heaven.

After being dragged through sand, thrust underwater and soured by tomato juice over the course of “Free Agents,” Devyn‘s favorite wavy friend, Tamara, sadly passed after last week’s “Sausage Party” mission, and on tonight’s episode, was officially laid to rest. Luckily, Devyn’s fellow competitors offered support, but neither Aneesa‘s shoulder, nor Leroy‘s assertion that “You can find another wig at another beauty supply” could properly console her.

Yes, Tamara surely went too soon — she had so many braided or bobbed days ahead of her — but the priceless weave’s memory will never be forgotten. Check out what her surviving (and adoring) owner, Devyn, told us earlier today about her fallen comrade, and be sure to offer your condolences.

When did you formally adopt Tamara?
Tamara Louise Wig was adopted October 12, 2014, from a local wig shop in downtown Kansas City.

What set Tamara apart from her companions, and why was her loss a particularly devastating one?
Tamara was actually a twin — she was purchased on sale, two-for-one. She had the ability to maintain her curl and fabulousness even when wet and wavy, and she was up for anything TJ threw at us.

What were some of your happier moments together?
I remember the first time I saw Tamara, she was sitting atop a mannequin on the corner of the weave shop. When the store clerk brought her down ...
