Reminder: Birth Control Can Only Prevent Teen Pregnancy If It’s Used Correctly

by 05/30/14

By Lauren Mann of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy

When Aleah found out she was expecting on “16 and Pregnant,” it wasn’t something she could have ever imagined for herself, especially because she’d been on the birth control shot, Depo-Provera. Even though she hadn’t received a shot in a while, she hadn’t gotten her period, so she thought she was safe. So how did she end up pregnant?

First off, kudos to Aleah for choosing Depo. As one of the most effective methods, Depo-Provera (pronounced like Johnny Depp-oh), is long-lasting, private and a good hormonal choice for those who can’t take estrogen. You only have to go to the doctor or clinic for an injection once every three months — but, as Aleah learned the hard way, if you miss an appointment, there’s a good chance it WON’T work. With perfect use, the shot is more than 99 percent successful.

As for Aleah not thinking she could even get pregnant because she hadn’t gotten her period, that’s a side-effect of the shot: Irregular bleeding, especially for the first 6-12 months, is pretty common.

Aleah 16 and Pregnant

Depo is one of those methods that is easy to use, doesn’t interrupt the heat of the moment, doesn’t require daily maintenance and is super private. But it’s only one of many options. Justin Bieber Taps The Migos For ‘Looking For You’: Listen Now

by 05/29/14

By Maurice Bobb

Justin Bieber collaborating with the Migos?

Sure, why not?

On Thursday night (May 29), Bieber surprised Beliebers worldwide with a spankin’ new track, “Looking For You,” featuring none other than Atlanta’s hottest rap triumvirate.

The uptempo song starts off with the “Versace” trio imploring the Biebs to step out and stunt, “What up, JB? It’s time to go to the club. It’s time to pull them toys out, man.”

After asking, “where the party at?,” the Canadian crooner then stamps the track with his signature falsetto, with a noticeable amount of swagger, singing lines like, “Tonight might be the night, you might mess around and fall in love and I might be the guy, that’ll make you wanna fall in love again.”

Seasoned hip-hop aficionados might recognize the drums in the break beat at the 2:26 mark is very similar to Benzino’s 2003 hit, “Rock The Party.” As the percussions and synths pulse toward a crescendo, Quavo, Offset and Takeoff go to work, taking pop’s biggest superstar to the Trap.

“My bitch is go gorgeous, I might pay her mortgage/ I run to the money like Forrest, my life is historic/ Travel ‘round the world like a orbit,” they rap.

No word on whether this song makes the cut for Bieber’s upcoming LP, but one thing’s for sure, it’ll get quite a few spins at a club near you.

7 Fan-Made Costumes So Good They Deserve Their Own Movies

by 05/29/14

By Kristy Puchko

Seeking out enticing inspiration that might excite fans and launch franchises, Hollywood has turned to comic books, cartoons, and even board games. But so far they’ve totally overlooked an artistic outlet that has a fervent and widespread fanbase: cosplay.

This hobby dares fans to construct elaborate costumes, mash-up their favorite fandoms, and sometimes create all-new heroes. So why hasn’t Hollywood been scouring Comic Con for ideas for next summer’s blockbusters? Well, we have, collecting some cool cosplay pics and pairing them with promising pitches of our own.

Before she had the hairdo of a harried soccer mom in the “X-Men” movies, Ororo Munroe was a hard-edged heroine with a major Mohawk and an insatiable thirst for justice! We’d love to see Afropunk‘s badass version of Storm unleashed in a story of her own, perhaps one written by luminary comic book writer Gail Simone (We know she’s a fan). If not, could we at least loop this look into the 1980s set “X-Men: Apocalypse?”

Forget the “Ghostbusters News, we suggest a story of Mia Venkman and her half-brother Oscar Barrett-Venkman, who are both following in their father/step father’s footsteps with a cutup crew of their own.

‘Chelsea Lately’ Is Ending In August

by 05/28/14

By Maurice Bobb

The late night talk show circuit is losing its most rabble-rousing celebrity news gossipmonger, Chelsea Handler.

E! is turning out the lights on “Chelsea Lately” after a successful seven-year run with a month-long sendoff celebration of special episodes and surprise guests culminating in a live series finale on Tuesday, August 26.

“We are very proud of ’Chelsea Lately’s’ long-running success and the unique space that the series carved out in late night television,” said E! President Suzanne Kolb in a statement on Wednesday (May 28). “Chelsea brought a distinct voice to late night with her acerbic wit and fearless commentary and we look forward to providing fans with a memorable send-off that lives up to that tradition. Most of all, we are grateful to the ‘Chelsea Lately’ team for making this show so special for seven years.”

The comedian’s reign as late night’s top provocateur included numerous quote-worthy appearances by hip-hop’s biggest acts, including 2 Chainz, Rick Ross and former rumored boyfriend, 50 Cent. Despite her past complaints about the network, though, Handler is taking the high road ahead of her departure.

“I myself am more surprised than anyone that I was able to hold down a job for seven years, and it was a fantastic seven years,” said Handler. “I will always look back at my time on E! as most people look back at their time in college. I’m glad I went.”

New episodes of “Chelsea Lately” will continue to air each weeknight at 11 p.m. ET leading up ...

Kristen Bell Takes Us Behind The 2014 CMT Music Awards ‘House Party’

by 05/28/14

By Maurice Bobb

In exactly one week, Kristen Bell will host the 2014 CMT Music Awards, country music’s biggest “house party.”

“I think the way that they’re lining up the show this year and the amount of cool surprise guests and acts, I think that it should be a pretty cool show,” Bell told CMT Hot 20 Countdown while taking a break from shooting promos for the show. “I think country music is very much about the fans and that’s kind of how this show feels. It feels like it’s a big party with a lot of friends and a lot of love.”

The “Frozen” actress will return to Nashville and host the fan-voted show solo for the first time after co-hosting with Toby Keith in 2012 and Jason Aldean last year.

“It’s a safety net to have someone up there for sure, but it’s also far from the hardest job in the world cause I have a teleprompter and wonderful writers behind the show,” she said. “And the show is always produced in such a way that’s it’s so fun and fan-oriented that I think there’s kinda no way that we can go wrong.”

As for those all-important behind-the-scenes details about the live broadcast from Music City’s Bridgestone Arena, featuring performances from Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton and others, well, all you really need to know is that it’ll “definitely be as cool” as that third time she threw a house party.

“It’s a lot more fun,” Bell said. “I ...

Justin Bieber Still Won’t Take Sides In Lil Wayne/Scooter Braun Drama

by 05/28/14

By Maurice Bobb

Spread love, it’s the Justin Bieber way.

In the wake of the scathing comments Lil Wayne directed toward Bieber’s longtime manager, Scooter Braun, the “Boyfriend” singer chose to remain neutral, shouting out both men after leaving the Rainbow Bar and Grill on the Sunset Strip Tuesday night.

In the TMZ video, the singer can be seen taking pictures with a throng of female fans through the rear window of a black SUV. When security puts an end to the impromptu selfie session, the gossip site’s photographer asks Bieber about Tunechi’s vitriolic comments.

Bieber rolled up his window, but quickly rolled it back down to reply.

“Love you, Scooter. Love you, Wayne,” he said.

Earlier this week, Weezy released an expletive-filled video admonishing Braun in favor of his artist, Lil’ Twist, who was reportedly kicked out of his pal Bieber’s Calabasas, California, home last year amid a flurry of run-ins with the law.

“I heard this bitchass n—a Scooter talkin’ sh– about my little brother,” Wayne said, referring to Twist. “N—a this my motherf–kin’ brother, anything you got to say, when you see me say it to my motherf–kin’ face. And if you do happen to say it to my motherf—in’ face, I ain’t gonna make you eat them words n—a, I’ma put them bitches on your tombstone.”

Then, for added effect, he added, “F–k you Scooter!”

No further comment has been made by Wayne, but Bieber did post a stitched picture on Instagram of he and Scooter hugging side-by-side with the ...

Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ Series Finds Its Matt Murdoch

by 05/27/14

By Maurice Bobb

The search for the man in the dark red devil suit is over.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel and Netflix have found their new Daredevil: Charlie Cox.

While the official announcement hasn’t been made, THR reports that the “Boardwalk Empire” actor will play Matt Murdoch, the blind lawyer from Hell’s Kitchen who fights crime in the courtroom by day and uses his five remaining superhuman senses to battle villains like Bullseye and the Kingpin by night.

Cox’s casting as “the man without fear” comes just days after Marvel announced writer/director Drew Goddard’s departure from the planned series. Spartacus’ Steven S. DeKnight will replace him as the originally scripted drama’s showrunner.

Born in London, Cox is best known for his role as Tristan Thorne in 2007’s “Stardust,” and for playing Irish immigrant Owen Sleater on HBO’s juggernaut period crime drama. He’ll take on the role originally brought to life by Ben Affleck in the widely-panned 2003 feature film.

Daredevil, which will run for 13 episodes, is the first of five Marvel series slated for Netflix release. Shows centered on Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage are next in line for production, as well as a cumulative Defender series that will feature all five superheroes.

Production for Daredevil begins this summer in New York City, while the show is scheduled to premiere on the online streaming site sometime in 2015.

Lucy Hale And Shay Mitchell Relive Their Craziest ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Moments

by 05/27/14

by Shaunna Murphy

When “Pretty Little Liars” returns for its fifth (!!) season on June 10, Aria Montgomery, Emily Fields, and the rest of Rosewood’s dream team will once again face off with the oh-so-elusive A. With Ezra’s life in balance and Alison back on the scene, the action is sure to be crazier than ever, so Lucy Hale and Shay Mitchell took a trip down memory lane to remember the simpler times.

Err… maybe not.

“Aria Montgomery is such a fun role to play,” Hale explains. “And people are always asking me about my favorite scenes, so as we begin Season 5 of ‘Pretty Little Liars’ and are about to film our 100th episode, it seems like a pretty good time to pick out just a few of my own favorite Aria moments.”

Hale’s favorite Aria moments apparently include being terrorized via cell phone, fighting with Ezra and everybody’s favorite coffin on a train incident, so we take back what we said about “simpler times.” Mitchell’s favorite scenes are similar — we all remember Paige and that swimming pool — so buckle up, Liars. It’s going to be a wild ride.

What’s your favorite “Pretty Little Liars” moment? It’s Hanna being forced to eat the cupcakes, right?

The Many Faces Of Chelsea Houska

by 05/27/14

By Rebecca Stokes

You know who has an amazing face? “Teen Mom 2career girl Chelsea Houska, that’s who. I mean, she’s got amazing hair, an amazing personality and so many other amazing qualities (also, I like to say amazing.) But today I’m talking all about her mug. Seriously, have you ever visited her Instagram page? The woman tosses up selfies that are basically high art. I’d also posit that she’s single-handedly reinvented the photobomb. It used to be something funny and unflattering, and somehow she’s made it totally charming. Doubt me? Prepare to be proven wrong, royally.

Chelsea knows that the ability to take hilarious selfies isn’t something you’re born with, it’s learned. Check out the adorable face she’s pulling while instructing her too-precious baby girl, Aubree, how to give the camera what it wants.

What’s better than Kailyn Lowry-Marroquin taking a selfie with Dr. Drew? Kailyn taking a selfie with Dr. Drew not knowing that Chelsea is photobombing the heck out of them!

Only Chelsea could make glasses look this good — and I say this as someone who wears glasses. She is serving goofy, nerd-realness, and serving it well.

Kail makes her second appearance on the list! Doesn’t this photo fill you with a fervent desire to make Chelsea your bestie? I feel like she’d always be there, Instagram primed, ready to make you laugh no matter how bad your day has been.

You know who loves a snow day more than Chelsea Houska? NO ...

‘X-Men’ Update: The Weekend Box Office Belongs To The Mutants

by 05/26/14

by Katie Calautti

In between all those backyard parties and barbecues at the beach, Memorial Day weekend is a great time to hit the theater – which is why it’s one of the biggest movie-going weekends of the year.

So who emerged victorious in the battle of the box office titans? We had our suspicions yesterday, and Deadline confirmed them today: “X-Men: Days of Future Past” has totally crushed the competition.

Not only have the mutant superheroes bested the new Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore joint “Blended,” the radioactive monster of Gareth Edwards’ “Godzilla” and the shirtless wonder that is Zac Efron in “Neighbors,” but its projected $111 million four-day showing makes it the number 5 all-time Memorial Day opener.

Anyone up for reprising our game of “F–k, Marry, Kill” with the X-cast to celebrate?

Did you see “X-Men: Days of Future Past” this weekend?
