Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie’s Next Movie Sounds Nothing Like ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’

by 05/20/14

By Maurice Bobb

When the announcement was made two weeks ago that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie would be joining forces for their first on-screen collaboration since 2005’s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” the only information available was the fact that Jolie was penning the script.

But now we know it’ll be a far cry from the action-packed motion picture that made “Brangelina” a household name.

“I really can’t say very much,” Jolie told Extra while doing promo for her new movie, “Maleficent.” “Except that it’s not a big movie, not an action movie. And it’s the kind of movie we both love but aren’t often cast in.”

So if they’re not dodging bullets as hired assassins or taking down clandestine agencies at the multiplex, what exactly will the two beautiful movie stars be doing for their onscreen reunion?

“It’s a very experimental, independent type film,” she explained. “Where we get to just be actors together and be really raw and open and try things.”

This movie doesn’t sound like your typical summer blockbuster, but one thing’s for sure: moviegoers will definitely be excited to see the Hollywood power-couple light up the big-screen once again.

“Maleficent” lands in theaters on May 30.

Mac Miller Has A Super Dark Idea For A ‘Lion King’ Spin-Off

by 05/20/14

By Maurice Bobb

Mac Milleris a bonafide cinefile. The Pittsburgh rapper has an encyclopedic knowledge of cinema, why else would he name his sophomore LP Watching Movies With The Sound Off?

But here’s something Macheads may not know: the Faces MC’s all-time favorite film is an animated classic.

“I actually can make my one statement of what my favorite movie of all time is, you ready?” Mac asked XXL in a recent interview. “’Lion King,’ bro.”

That’s right. The seminal Disney cartoon centered around Simba’s coming-of-age adventure to become King has all the crucial core values and life lessons, according to Mac.

“That sh-t is amazing — soundtrack, incredible, and the actual story and values it teaches a young person is f–king amazing,” he added. “For me, Lion King, that sh-t was crazy. I’ve been saying that all the music I’ve been making recently is all like that scene where the hyenas are all marching.”

The scene that troubled him the most, though, was Mufasa’s death.

“But that’s the other thing — if you moved that into, like, a human movie scene — that man got trampled, and this man Simba had to go up and watch his dad die,” he said. “That’s some f–ked up sh-t as a human being! If I had to see my pops get trampled by antelopes and then die? I can’t — and then say, ‘I can’t wait to be king’ — I would be able to wait to be king after that, you know? I’m gonna ...

‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’ Recap: Let’s Get Ready To Rumble!

by 05/20/14

By Maurice Bobb

There are all kinds of defective, maladjusted, flawed, wounded and, let’s face it, unfit relationships out there and somehow, within the span of an hour Monday (May 19) night, “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” managed to showcase them all.

Last week’s litany of lies, deceit and jealousy were trumped by last night’s messy gossip, gross derelictions of parental duty, ratchet wrestling and (excuse me while I throw up) finger-licking, crotch-caressing PDA.

First up was Stevie J, who took Joseline, his phonetically challenged bae out on the town to butter her up enough to co-sign postponing their “big white wedding” plans in order to focus on getting her bookings up. No romance without finance, right?

A tingling sense of foreboding crept in when they discussed dismissing Joseline’s booking agent, Dawn, because she’d apparently been slacking on landing her client plumb gigs.

While Joseline was breaking the Federal Communication Commission’s record for the use of the word “bitch” in one sitting (to describe her longtime agent), she didn’t she give any thought at all to the possibility of things going really, really bad after canning the one person that knows all her business.

I mean, with all the skeletons in Steebie and Joseline’s closet, Dawn could turn all of Atlanta into a gossipy graveyard.

Sure enough, jilted Dawn met with ATL’s resident sleuth, Mimi Faust, to spill the beans about Stevie’s allegedly fake marriage, fake finances and overall shady dealings.

In sadder news, Lil Scrappy pulled up to Bambi’s house only to learn that the ...

11 Celebrities Who Would Make Awesome Commencement Speakers

by 05/20/14

By Rachel Paoletta

Four years, hundreds of cups of coffee, a history major (don’t hate) and producing minor have brought me to this point: Graduation. On Wednesday, I’ll graduate from New York University with thousands of other students at Yankee Stadium. What I’m feeling can only be described as a cocktail of emotions: excited, terrified, eager, anxious — I am actually beginning to drive myself insane. (Is it weird that I’m 1 percent excited and 99 percent horrified I’m going to pull a J-Law and fall onstage at Radio City when our smaller ceremony goes down today?)

Watch: Sandra Bullock Blind Sides A High School Commencement With A Surprise Speech

While I’m extremely excited for graduation, let’s be real: Commencement speeches get a bad rap. They’re long, often tedious and a general *groan* moment. But there’s hope! MTV News takes pride in educated young people and knows they deserve exciting speakers for an exciting time. I humbly suggest the following celebs be considered by universities throughout the country. JUST HEAR ME OUT, HOLIER-THAN-THOU MEMBERS OF ACADEMIA:

1. Beyoncé

Let’s BEYON-est — there simply is no title or position to aspire to higher than Queen Bey.

^ all the proof you need.

2. Jennifer Lawrence
Because obviously. Her mere presence is a testimony you can be successful, adored by millions and still true to yourself. Her wisdom is inspiring and infinite:

Sorry J-Law. I know you don’t want to be a GIF. Love you, mean it. Xoxo

3. Diddy
While it’s true he was recently the ...

’16 And Pregnant’ Poll: Can Tony Step It Up For His Family’s Sake?

by 05/19/14

By Leslie Simon

On tonight’s episode of “16 and Pregnant,” we met Karley, an academic overachiever who was forced to put her college plans on hold upon finding out she was expecting TWINS with her boyfriend, Tony. After news of the pregnancy sunk in, Karley and Tony got married and moved into her parents’ house, much to the dissatisfaction of the young dad-to-be.

Throughout Karley’s pregnancy, Tony grumbled about his living conditions, and though his complaining seemed to stop once Amariah and Amayah were born — mostly because he and his wife were so busy taking turns feeding, burping and changing the babies’ diapers — it wasn’t long before he started venting about how much he hated not having his own space (one particular fight with his mother-in-law, Cindy, turned into a verifiable screaming match). But all hell really broke loose when Tony dropped his family’s entire savings on a used truck…that only sat three people.

16andPregnantKarleyandTony

“I can’t just go out and spend a bunch of money on something I want,” Karley said upon hearing about Tony’s purchase. “I’ve given up basically everything. Whenever I do anything, I take into consideration our family and our babies.”

Tony insisted that if he made the money, then he could decide how to spend it — and Karley could get her own job if she objected. But Karley explained that it would be impossible given their current situation for her to bring in an additional paycheck.

Karley didn’t ever think she’d have ...

50 Cent ‘Toasts To Success’ — With Tony Yayo — In ‘Twisted’ Video: Watch

by 05/19/14

By Maurice Bobb

It’s celebration season for 50 Cent, who dons a black tuxedo and an air of sophistication in the new visuals for “Twisted,” the final music video, released Monday (May 19), in his Animal Ambition series.

Set in a lavish nightclub, the Eif Rivera-directed clip begins with Fif surrounded by equally dapper male companions toasting to success with a parade of beautiful women as Dutch singer Mr. Probz croons over the smoothed-out track.

While smoking the finest cigars and popping bottles, Forbes’ #5 wealthiest rapper expounds on his comeuppance in the rap game with lines like “We done came so far, I mean look where we are/ If they don’t call us by name, they call us entrepreneur” and “I’m fond of the phrase ‘if there’s a will there’s a way’/ ‘Cause we come from the part where only killers get play.”

The biggest surprise, though, is the unmentioned cameo by Tony Yayo. Let’s all hope Yayo raising a glass with Curtis means the longtime partners-in-rhyme have ended their beef and have plans to collaborate again in the near future (Summer Jam 2014?).

Animal Ambition, which features guest appearances by Jadakiss, Yo Gotti and Trey Songz, is slated to drop June 3.

Joe Manganiello Wants You To Meet The Real Magic Mike: Watch The Trailer

by 05/19/14

By Maurice Bobb

You might want to leave those singles at home, ladies, because “La Bare,” a documentary about what goes on behind the stage at the world’s most popular male strip club is coming to the big screen this summer. Judging by the NSFW trailer, it’s more than just pelvic thrusting and baby-oiled studs. Hunky “True Blood” actoor Joe Manganiello makes his directorial debut with a film that gives a more realistic and, well, provocative look at the men who are “up all night to make a living.”

The nearly two-minute clip begins with two ripped “cowboys” knocking on a door in a very unassuming neighborhood before entering the house and becoming the G-stringed, gyrating main attraction for a bevy of shrieking women.

“Men want to see naked women,” the trailer’s narrator says, as behind-the-scenes footage from renowned Dallas strip club La Bare is shown. “What women want is the show.”

Several women give giddy interviews, with one explaining that “men are more like microwaves and women are more like an oven,” while cheek-baring male dancers share their stories of free enterprise, excitement and tragedy.

The film’s auteur, Mangianello — who most fans recall in his memorable role as “Big Dick Richie” in 2012’s comedic romp about male strippers, “Magic Mike” — wanted to venture into uncharted territory with this doc.

“With ‘La Bare,’ I had somehow sailed my way into uncharted waters and stumbled upon an island not recorded on any map … the completely misunderstood world of male entertainment,” Manganiello told Read More →

Robin Thicke Debuts Super Emotional ‘Get Her Back’ At Billboard Awards

by 05/18/14

By Maurice Bobb

Paula Patton didn’t rush the stage to embrace Robin Thicke at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 18) night after he debuted, “Get Her Back,” but hopefully she’s somewhere re-evaluating her “deep love” for him after hearing the singer’s emotional ballad to win her back.

Before performing the song he wrote specifically for his estranged wife, Thicke accepted the Billboard award for Top R&B song for the T.I. and Pharrell-assisted “Blurred Lines” and thanked his wife for “her love and support and putting up with me for all these years.”

Later in the live broadcast, as he dove headfirst into his new song, the Canadian-American crooner implored the audience at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas to hold their hands aloft in support, hoping to get all the help he could to the convince Patton to give him another chance since their much-publicized split earlier this year.

Backed by a six-piece live band and dressed in a black, python leather jacket and white T-shirt, Thicke made his heartfelt plea to Patton, with lines like, “All I wanna do is make it right” and “I should’ve kissed you longer/I should’ve held you stronger.”

The lyrics dripped with the Sex Therapy vocalist’s remorse for not showing more appreciation for the love of his life, with the chorus acting as his own call to action, “I gotta go get her, go get her, go get her back.”

Thicke didn’t close the song with an “I love you, Paula,” ...

Ariana Grande And Iggy Azalea Had A Bit Of A ‘Problem’ At Billboard Music Awards

by 05/18/14

By Maurice Bobb

Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea both hit the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas for the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 18) night dressed sexier than any burlesque show on the strip.

No one has a “Problem” with that, do they?

First to hit the raised rostrum was Iggy, dressed as a naughty cheerleader with the word “Rebel” emblazoned on her chest. Flanked by a cheering squad of dancing beauties, the Aussie singer served up “Fancy,” from her debut album, The New Classic.

Joined by collaborator Charli XCX, the blonde bombshell danced and pranced around while shaking her pom-pomed-sneakers, rapping lines like, “Hot girl, hands off, don’t touch that/Look at it, I bet you wishing you could clutch that.”

Next up was Ariana’s performance of her chart-topping hit, “Problem.” The Yours Truly chanteuse continued to explore her sensual side with a black and white leather mini skirt and knee-high go-go boots.

As she gyrated in front of biker jacket wearing male dancers to the song’s chorus, “got one less problem without you,” her new BFF Iggy came back out to run through her guest verse.

To close out her set, Ariana centered herself on the brightly lit platform to take in her monumental BBMA moment, which comes in the same week that her single exploded on the Digital Songs chart at #1 and #3 on the Hot 100.
