Drake Now Has His Own Lint-Rollers, And They’re Awesome

by 04/30/14

By Maurice Bobb

Last week, Drake used a lint roller on his pants in the middle of a Toronto Raptors vs. Brooklyn Nets game, and the results were GIF-tastic . Now, everyone can keep themselves extra crispy at the game thanks to Drizzy-inspired lint rollers.

NBA TV took to Twitter Wednesday (April 30) ahead of Game 5 between the Nets and Raptors at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre to post a picture of a special voucher, complete with the Raptors and OVO logo, for a limited edition OVO x Bounce lint roller.

“Last name: Roller. First name: Lint.,” they tweeted, in reference to Drizzy’s “Forever” verse.

Fans were told to visit section 117 after the game to redeem their vouchers for the rollers, which, of course, were excellent.

With a genius marketing move like this, there’s no doubt that the Raptors made the right decision when they made the YMCMB rapper their global ambassador.

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Trailer: Get An Up-Close Look At Your Heroes

by 04/30/14

By Maurice Bobb

The crime-fighting heroes in half-shells may not be roundhouse-kicking into theaters for another three months, but we were treated to up-close-and-personal looks at Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo and Raphael with a brand-new “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” trailer on Wednesday (April 30).

The new clip is similar to the first one in story structure and tone, but after the montage of the S.W.A.T. team assembling, helicopter chases and towers falling, the ass-kicking amphibians spring into action in a New York subway station, while Megan Fox’s April O’Neil captures everything on her camera phone.

All four of our pizza-loving heroes get close-ups, skateboarding, preparing to fight and, of course, tying on masks. There’s also an adrenaline-rush of a snow-skiing scene, with our heroes zipping down the mountain at warp speed before crashing into a military Humvee.

From the looks of the trailer, this reboot will feature that signature “TMNT” humor that fanboys have grown to love.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” flips, kicks and punches its way into theaters on August 8.

Zac Efron Opens Up About Addiction (And Kendrick Lamar) In New Interview

by 04/30/14

By Maurice Bobb
Zac Efron is in the middle of career comeback, especially with the buzz surrounding “Neighbors,” but his trek back to the A-list was almost derailed by alcohol and drug addiction.

The “High School Musical” star spoke at length about his substance abuse and his decision to join Alcoholics Anonymous in a very candid cover story in The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday (April 30).

“I just started going,” Efron said about AA, adding that he also sees a therapist. “And I think it’s changed my life. I’m much more comfortable in my own skin. Things are so much easier now.”

Efron’s addictions were the result of his self-imposed isolation from friends and family. He hid behind his work, lived out of a suitcase and eventually turned to alcohol and drugs to make sense of it all.

“I was just so deep into my work. It was really the only thing I had,” he said. “I clung to it in a way that became a little bit destructive.”

Efron entered rehab to curb his last spring, but found himself in a bit of trouble after his release when he got into a fight with a homeless man. Efron called the incident “the most terrifying moment in my life.”

“I had a friend come pick me up late at night and the car ran out of gas off the 110. It was ridiculous,” he added. “We had to pull over, and I called Uber. A homeless guy, or vagrant, tapped on the driver’s-side window. ...

Dane DeHaan Has Burger Feels On The Tonight Show

by 04/30/14

by Kat Rosenfield

When you’re watching Dane DeHaan terrorize New York as the lean, tough Green Goblin in the upcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” just remember: this man was recently reduced to tears by a hamburger.

In an appearance on the Tonight Show, DeHaan explained to Jimmy Fallon the challenges of taking the role as Spidey’s nemesis — not the least of which was transforming himself from a fairly skinny guy into a well-muscled villain. The actor spent more than eight months rigorously training, and eating piles of vegetables and protein, in order to develop the Goblin’s intimidating physique, and not only did he take the commitment seriously, he was delighted to do it.

“People are always like, it must have been so hard,” DeHaan said. “I was like, c’mon people, I’m the Green Goblin! Who cares if you have to eat a lot to be the Green Goblin? It’s the coolest thing ever!”

But as committed as he was to the role, his complete dedication to the Green Goblin diet and fitness regimen had some unexpected emotional side effects. About four months into the process, DeHaan’s trainer recommended that the actor at least occasionally give himself permission to indulge in a meal not on the “approved” list.

“So my wife and I went to brunch, and I ordered a burger, and it was my first burger in four months,” he recalled. “And I took a bite of it, and I literally started crying in the restaurant.”

Needless to say, Dane’s wife was ...

J.D. Salinger Biopic Will Be ‘Hunger Games’ Screenwriter’s Next Project

by 04/30/14

By Kat Rosenfield

Four years after the death of the reclusive J.D. Salinger, the man who made Holden Caulfield a household name is getting a biopic of his very own.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Danny Strong is set to direct “Salinger’s War,” a movie that follows Salinger out of early obscurity in 1940s New York, into the trenches of World War II, and through the process of writing a little novel called “The Catcher in the Rye.”

Strong, whose most recent projects include penning the scripts for the final two films in the “Hunger Games” franchise, is a Hollywood jack-of-all-trades — an actor and producer as well as an Emmy award-winning writer — but he’s saved his directorial debut for this film. It’s safe to assume that Salinger is a subject that Strong is passionate about; he paid personally for the movie rights to the Salinger biography this movie will be based on, and wrote the script himself on spec.

“Salinger’s War” already has a home at Black Label Media, but the one thing it doesn’t have is a cast — particularly a leading man to play its titular character. Who should producers tap to play the iconic, enigmatic author?

Ben Feldman
Ben Feldman
Because he sports a ridiculous, extravagant mustache on “Mad Men,” you’d be forgiven for not realizing that Ben Feldman is a very handsome fellow with a distinct resemblance to Salinger. But he is! And knowing how well he can ...

‘The Voice’ Recap: See Who Made The Top Eight

by 04/29/14

By Emilie Cruz

“The Voice” said goodbye to Bria Kelly and underdog Tess Boyer Tuesday night (April 29) as America chose to instantly save Team Adam rocker Kat Perkins.

Although the all-female bottom three were teary-eyed as they gave their last-chance performances, Team Shakira’s Tess Boyer, Team Usher’s Bria Kelly and Team Adam’s Kat Perkins pulled through with stellar vocals to receive standing ovations from all three of their coaches.

But before their backs were against the wall, Usher, Kelly and Josh Kaufman hit the stage with a rocking performance of Lenny Kravitz’ “Always on the Run” that was nothing short of powerful, and Shakira, Boyer, and Kristen Merlin gave a girl-power performance of Shakira’s “The One Thing,” a song off her latest album.

For her last chance performance, Kelly let her raspy voice rock the house with Heart’s “Crazy For You,” getting a standing ovation from Usher, and praises from Shelton. Boyer gave a heartfelt performance of Pink’s “Who Knew” that got a standing ovation from coach Shakira, and had Levine admitting that it’s “bizarre” that such a great artist as Boyer winds up in the bottom so often.

Perkins received enormous applause from the audience after her performance of Grace Potter & the Nocturnals’ “Paris (Oh La La),” and coach Levine assured the crowd that if America saves his singer, she will break the trend that typically finds the artist saved one week going home the week immediately after, and will instead go all the way to the finals.

It’ll be interesting ...

‘It’s True!’: Gwen Stefani’s Joining ‘The Voice’

by 04/29/14

By Maurice Bobb

It’s official: Gwen Stefani is taking her talents to “The Voice.”

The No Doubt singer took to Instagram to confirm the news on Tuesday (April 29).

Stefani will sit in the big red chair vacated by Christina Aguilera, who announced back in February that she’d be taking time off from the show to focus on her second pregnancy.

The blonde diva will join fellow newcomer Pharrell Williams (filling in for Cee Lo Green) as coaches for season seven of NBC’s juggernaut reality singing competition alongside confirmed returning veterans Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.

The announcement comes less than two weeks after The Hollywood Reporter, the two newbies will introduce themselves on the live May 5 telecast by way of performances. Skateboard P will perform his latest single from G I R L, “Come Get It Bae,” and Stefani will bless viewers with “Hollaback Girl,” which, not so coincidentally, was produced by the man known for wearing the big hats.

One Direction’s Liam Payne Had A Serious Moment At Machu Picchu

by 04/29/14

Somewhere in between sold-out shows in Lima, Peru, and Santiago, Chile, the guys of One Direction managed to take some time out of the South American leg of their Where We Are Tour to get a bit of a history lesson.

Or, at least Harry Styles and Liam Payne did. The two hit up the 600-year-old Inca city of Machu Picchu on Monday. The guys are down south to kick off their latest worldwide tour, which all started with a fireworks-filled affair in Bogota, Colombia on Saturday night.

One Direction At Machu Picchu
Wait! What are those cameras doing there?

One Direction At Machu Picchu

Judging from his rather lackadaisical scowl, it seems as though Harry hadn’t quite gotten the magnificence of the historic structure.

Liam, on the other hand, was absolutely, unequivocally feeling it — so much that he had a sort of Leo in “Titanic” moment next to a pile of rocks.

Next up, the guys are set to bring the Where We Are mayhem to Chile, where they perform at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago.

Kurt Cobain’s Note To Courtney Love Released By Police

by 04/29/14

Twenty years after Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was found dead in his Seattle home, police have unveiled a previously unreleased note from the scene, addressed to his wife Courtney Love.

In the note obtained by CBS— which was found in Cobain’s wallet and written on stationery from the Phoenix Hotel — is what appears to be a rather sardonic play on traditional marriage vows, written for Love, his wife of two years.

“Do you Kurt Cobain take Courtney Michelle Love to be your lawful shredded wife,” he wrote. “even when she’s a bitch with zits and siphoning all (your) money for doping and whoring…”

Last month, two decades after Cobain’s death, Seattle police decided to review the case — but did not reopen it or re-investigate it. There have been several conspiracy theories surrounding his suicide — even a book published in 1999 titled Who Killed Kurt Cobain?: The Mysterious Death of an Icon — and it was those lingering questions and “a lot of media interest” that led cold case detective Mike Ciesynski to take another look.

The detective didn’t discover anything new in the case, but he explained that “there were so many conspiracy theories out there, it was good judgment on their behalf to hold to this.”

8 ‘Game of Thrones’ Plotlines That Could Bring Back Ser Pounce

by 04/29/14

By Kat Rosenfield

Today, in the most upsetting news to come out of King’s Landing since Joffrey Baratheon chopped off Ned Stark’s head: yet another beloved “Game of Thrones” character has made his last appearance this season.

We’re talking, of course, about Ser Pounce, the impetuous cat who interrupted Margaery Tyrell’s secret nighttime tryst with the pre-pubescent Prince Tommen in the show’s most recent episode. According to Vulture, an HBO representative has confirmed that the scene was Ser Pounce’s first and last moment of screen time for the foreseeable future.

Which, let’s be honest, is obviously unacceptable. And with this season not even half over, it is time to dispatch a strongly-worded letter to HBO demanding that Ser Pounce be not just included in future episodes, but given a credit in the title sequence and featured in at least one episode that deals exclusively with his cat adventures in Westeros.

Oh, and we have some ideas about that, too.

Road trip! Let Ser Pounce ride off on horseback to join Brienne and Podrick in the search for Sansa Stark… and make a new friend in the process.

Or, he could go to the Wall, suit up for battle, and get ready to fight the Wildling armies!

Not to mention, after the way he leaped in between the seductive Margaery and the wide-eyed Tommen, this cat’s obvious talent for stopping sexual predators could be put to good use just about anywhere in rapist-ridden Westeros.
