‘Trans Teen’ Documentary Coming To MTV And Logo

by 04/29/14

MTV and Logo will take you inside the world of four transgender youths this fall in “Trans Teen,” a one-hour documentary hosted by “Orange is the New Black” star Laverne Cox.

See What Activist/Actress Laverne Cox Has To Say About “Trans Teen.”

The special will follow the four young people, ages 14-24, who, until recently, may not have felt safe sharing their lives with others. Hailing from all across the country, they each have a unique story to tell — not about feeling “other,” but about being human and living their lives authentically.

The special, executive-produced by Cox — recent recipient of GLAAD’s Stephen F. Kolzak Award — will follow the four as they overcome challenges like intolerance and bullying while trying to help their friends, family and, ultimately, America, understand what’s happening and why.

Emma Stone Crushed Jimmy Fallon In A Lip-Synch Off Last Night

By Kat Rosenfield

Emma Stone is the official lip-synching champion of the world, and the rest of us — including Jimmy Fallon — should accept defeat, pack up our lips, and just go home to Loserville where we belong.

The actress appeared last night on “The Tonight Show” to herald the release of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” and was offered a unique challenge by host Jimmy Fallon: to meet him onstage for a Lip Synch Battle to end ‘em all. Each competitor had two chances to prove his or her lip-synching supremacy, with Jimmy kicking off the contest with an energetic rendition of Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy.”

Emma, looking intimidated but game, volleyed back with Blues Traveler’s “Hook,” and crushed it as soon as she hit the first lyric (“Suck it in, suck it in, suck it in. If you’re Rin Tin Tin or Anne Boleyn!”) of the song’s rapid-fire bridge.

Jimmy then returned to the stage with “Mr. Roboto,” but even he seemed to suspect that he was outmatched — and was proved right in the final round. Emma opted for DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win,” and that was, indeed, all she did. This woman’s lip-synching skills are crazy good. So good that we’re not even totally sure that this wasn’t a performance by Ludacris wearing an Emma Stone suit. So good that it’s starting to look mighty suspicious that Emma Stone and Ludacris have never been photographed together, if you know what we’re saying.

You can see Ludacris in a lady costume Emma in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” in theaters ...

‘The Voice’ Recap: Did You Get Adam Levine’s Phone Number?

By Emilie Cruz
As the top 10 on “The Voice” continued to sing for America’s votes Monday night (April 28), Christina Grimmie proved herself to be a frontrunner in the competition while Blake Shelton answered all of our prayers by tweeting Adam Levine‘s personal cell number.

Before it got down to the nitty-gritty, though, MTV’s Artist-to-Watch Rixton made their U.S. television premiere with a performance of their current hit “Me and My Broken Heart,” getting a standing ovation — and an air drum jam session — from Usher and Shelton.

Then came the tweet that changed everything: Shelton, who threatened to leak Levine’s cell number earlier in the day, made good on his promise. Levine tried to call his bluff, but soon his phone was ringing off the hook. Unfortunately for us, the line was busy the six times we tried calling — but we promise we were only calling for a quote from either coach!

(Shelton’s tweet has since been removed.)

After it was all said and done, and the top 10 laid their hearts on their stage, we compiled our top three favorite performances from the night:

Hold On, She Ain’t Goin’ Home
Team Adam’s Christina Grimmie definitely put an impressive gap between herself and the rest of the pack after her stellar performance of Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” The 20-year-old took a completely different approach to the smash hit, opting to play the piano for an acoustic arrangement, and blowing the audience away with her high notes and incredible falsettos. She got a standing ovation from her coach who praised ...

See Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V Artwork, Courtesy Of Kobe Bryant

By Maurice Bobb

Lil Wayne has called Kobe Bryant his inspiration for life and music, which is why he got the Los Angeles Lakers great to premiere the cover art for his highly anticipated Tha Carter V on Monday (April 28).

“Carter V season begins #carterV,” Kobe tweeted, with a picture of the simple yet balanced artwork. The red Roman numeral V is centered on a white background with the phrase “Tha Carter V” shadowed all around it equidistantly. eezy’s name sits atop the numeral, with a lower case “lil” preceding an all-caps “WAYNE.”

The five-time NBA champ also posted the LP’s cover art on his Instagram page.

The fifth and final installment of Tunechi’s Carter series was originally slated for a May 5 release date, but another Bryant, Cortez (Wayne’s manager), denied those rumors, citing that the extended wait will be worth it.

“Gonna be f—in’ amazing,” he said. “It’s gonna be that good.”

“I say it’s different, because I’m older and wiser, and I know more things and I know more about myself now,” Wayne told MTV News last month. “I’m more careful about what I’m doing and trying to be more careful what I’m saying. It’s awesome; it’s coming together dope. I think the Wayne fans are gonna like it.”

Craig Ferguson To Step Down As Host Of ‘Late Late Night’

By Maurice Bobb

Looks like CBS is on the search for another late-night host.

Craig Ferguson, longtime host of “The Late Late Show,” has announced that he will step down as the show’s compere in December 2014, when his contract with the network expires.

According to a CBS press release, Ferguson broke the news to his studio audience during the taping of Monday’s (April 28) show, which features Candice Accola and LL Cool J.

The Scottish-born comedian’s announcement comes just one month after David Letterman announced his retirement from “The Late Show” and two weeks after CBS named Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert as his successor.

Ferguson has served as Letterman’s late-night companion in the 12:35 a.m. slot for nearly a decade. Variety reports that his decision to bow out was expected since CBS went in another direction with Letterman’s replacement.

Ferguson carved a nice latenight niche for himself with his zany one-liners and signature monoloques.

Ferguson was nominated for an Emmy in 2006 and won a Peabody Award in 2010 for his hosting talents and was nominated for a Grammy for his comedy album “I’m Here to Help” this year.

Ferguson is set to host a new game show called, “Celebrity Name Game”, which debuts this fall. The team-based game show is based on the board game “Identity Crisis” and was created by Courteney Cox and David Arquette.

Action Bronson’s Getting His Own Show: ‘F–k, That’s Delicious’

How did it even take this long?

After years of rapping about food, talking about food and making food, Action Bronson finally is finally starring in his own food-related show.

The series, wonderfully titled “F–k, That’s Delicious,” will air online through Munchies, a subsidiary of VICE. A trailer for the show, which will drop new episodes monthly, was released online on Monday (April 28).

“You always hear me rapping about things; this is a rare chance you get to actually see it,” Bronsalino says to the camera to open, before diving some 20 feet off of a boat and splashing into a body of water. From there, it’s all about food.

In the first episode, which will air in May, cameras follow Bam Bam as he eats his way through New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa during Eminem’s Rapture Tour. Plus, he hits some of his favorite New York eateries like Roberta’s in Brooklyn and Eddie’s Sweet Shop in Action’s native Queens.

There’s a gushing egg sandwich, perfectly cooked ribs, smokey barbeque, and plenty of other mouth-watering goodness.

Future episodes will document snacking stops along the southeastern United States, England and Eastern Europe.

“All I believe in is food and myself,” Bronson says in the trailer. Hey, not a bad motto.

Future Tells The Surprising Story Behind ‘Drunk In Love’

By Adam Fleischer, with reporting by Sway Calloway

He created some of the melodies on Beyoncé‘s smash “Drunk in Love,” but Future‘s name doesn’t appear anywhere in the song’s credits. How does something like that happen?

It has a lot to do with the song’s producer, Detail, Future told MTV News.

The producer, who has worked frequently with the Atlanta rapper, had the beat for what would become “Drunk in Love” and wanted Future to lay some vocals. (Detail he thought Bey would see the potential in the song if she heard the hit-maker on it.) The Freebandz MC was game.

“I know the direction people think she was gonna go,” he told MTV News’ Sway Calloway. “And for you to have ‘Drunk in Love,’ it’s a whole ‘nother direction; it’s like, that young and fresh. She do this, it’s over. I was excited about it.”

A few days later, Detail called Future to say that Queen Bey was in the booth, working on the song. That only got the Epic Records signee even more enthused.

Then, as he worked on his sophomore album, Honest, which hit stores on Tuesday, Future used the same melody he had created for “Drunk in Love” on a track called “Good Morning,” which was also produced by Detail. “‘Drunk in Love’ didn’t come out for about six, seven months,” he explained. “‘Good Morning’ [was] finished; done.”

When Beyoncé dropped her album in December, Future was just as surprised as the singer’s fans.

“I was like, ‘What I’mma do with ‘Good Morning’ now? This one of our favorite songs,” he wondered. ...

DJ Khaled Grabs Jay Z, Rick Ross For ‘They Don’t Love You No More’: Listen Now

Where is the love?

That’s exactly what DJ Khaled is wondering on his new single, “They Don’t Love You No More,” which dropped Monday night (April 28).

The posse cut, which features Jay Z, Rick Ross, Meek Mill and French Montana, will serve as the lead single for Khaled’s eighth studio album, I’ve Changed A Lot, which fans can expect at some point this summer.

“Every summer’s mine,” Khaled said in his characteristically confident tone when spoke to MTV News recently to announce the single. “I’m the king of the anthems. It’s been seven summers. Well now, it’s gonna be eight summers. Summer’s mine man.”

Sure, he’s doing the DJ Khaled thing ‒ but there’s truth in those words, too. Some of the We The Best Music Group honcho’s hits include “I’m On One,” “I’m So Hood,” “No New Friends,” and “We Takin’ Over.”

Where will “They Don’t Love You No More” stack up?

Game Ready To Rip Up Clippers Tickets

By Adam Fleischer

Donald Sterling’s alleged racist remarks that leaked over the weekend had everyone talking — including many of hip-hop’s notable names. Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg were a few of the MC who had words of ire for the Los Angeles Clippers owner, but Game hopes to take things beyond the talk.

“I had playoff floor seats for the next home game; you might see ‘em on my Instagram ripped in half, just as one of the voices of my campaign,” the Los Angeles native told MTV News on Monday (April 28), referencing his #EmptySeatCampaign. “I’m definitely not attending.”

What began as a call to action in an Instagram post on Saturday has since picked up some steam on social media, and Game hopes fans take this as an opportunity to make a point — by not attending the next home game and creating an arena full of empty seats on Tuesday.

“If we could stand as a human race and just not support that organization on the next home game, I think that would [make] a statement,” he said. “We go to the next one, or the next one after that, because it’s not about the players, and you wanna support Chris [Paul] and the whole team, but we gotta take a stand, so that things like this don’t go with no consequences.”

On Saturday morning, TMZ obtained a tape of what is reportedly Sterling, who has owned the Clippers since 1981, making racist remarks. In a conversation with his then-girlfriend V. Stiviano, the 80-year-old is critical of her for ...

Rihanna’s New Twitter Avatar: Let’s Discuss

By John Walker

Attention all serious media outlets dedicated to significant world happenings: STOP THE PRESSES. Sometime on Sunday, Rihanna changed her Twitter avatar from a photo of, like, her actual face to this blank-eyed, stick-figure rendering, which she also posted on Instagram.

The caption? “Say. My. Name.” Not to get all Nancy Kerrigan circa January 6, 1994 on all of you, but…

WHY?!

Well, according to many members of the Navy Nhevi, the “Can’t Remember To Forget You” singer might have been throwing shade at ex Chris Brown‘s current girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, who posted the following selfie only an hour prior to Rihanna’s mystifying Instagram.

In the caption, Karrueche added: “HELLO My name is…” So, we can see the connections that some of you are trying to draw between the timing of the ‘grams and their name-centric captions, but, um, internet? THIS IS KIND OF A REACH.

I mean, you’ve all seen Rihanna’s Instagram feed before, right? Sandwiched in between all the glamorous fashion editorials and questionably obtained slow lorises is literally just a string of memes, something this very Derpina-like drawing — which fans have dubbed “Rhenna” — is quickly becoming. Like, if Rihanna wasn’t this global, pop-music icon, she’d probably be, like, the biggest Reddit troll of all time, TBQH.

Or, who knows. Maybe our Queen just fell into her first-ever MS Paint-hole. (I can relate.) If you’ve got any other theories, no matter how conspiratorial, feel free to hit me up in the comments below.

I ...
