One Woman Tells Us What It Really Feels Like When Your Nude Photos Leak Online

by 8 mins ago

Have you ever wondered what it feels like when a photo you thought would only be shared with the person you’re intimate with is instead shared with the entire Internet? That’s exactly what happened to Allyson Pereira in high school, and an event that’s shaped much of the rest of her life.

In the wake of a massive phone hack that saw the illegal release of photos from celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton and more, MTV News asked Allyson, now an anti-bullying and sexting expert, to share in her own words her experience, its aftermath, and what advice she can give to anyone – celebrity or otherwise – going through the same thing.

By Allyson Pereira

I remember what it felt like to wait up all night praying that my parents wouldn’t find out what I had done. I remember the crushing feeling when I realized my ex-boyfriend had forwarded my topless picture to everyone in his contact list. And I remember the shame; the deep, gnawing regret that I had done the unthinkable. I remember this clearly because when my ex-boyfriend forwarded my topless picture, I spent the whole night sobbing. I didn’t eat, I didn’t talk to anyone, and I felt completely and totally alone. But the feeling that was the worst of all, was realizing that everyone I knew and complete strangers had the potential of seeing me naked and there was absolutely nothing I could do to stop them.

Almost immediately the harassment began in ...

Harry Styles Shows Support For Gay NFL Player Michael Sam

by 17 hours ago

By Sasha Geffen

Update: Michael Sam has been cut by the St. Louis Rams.

One Direction‘s Harry Styles just made a big show of support for the first openly gay football player ever to be drafted into the NFL. At the UK group’s August 27 concert in St. Louis, Styles wore Michael Sam’s number 96 football jersey onstage during his performance.

Sam, 24, made national news this year when the St. Louis Rams picked him for the team in the seventh round of the NFL draft. The young player was with his boyfriend when he got the news on live TV. The celebratory kiss they shared quickly became an iconic image symbolizing the brand new intersection of professional sports and the LGBTQ community.

Styles wore the jersey onstage at the Edward Jones Dome on Wednesday just two days after Sam made it through the first round of NFL roster cuts. The football player soon got word of the singer’s support and tweeted him a quick thank-you.

One Direction is currently playing dates on the US leg of its worldwide Where We Are Tour. It’s great to see the boys show love for our local LGBTQ heroes while they’re here!

The Film Industry Just Had Its Worst Summer In 17 Years

by 43 mins ago

By Sasha Geffen

Even with the megaplexes packed with big-name sequels, Americans just didn’t seem to be going out to the movies this summer. The film industry has reported its worst numbers since 1997 as August draws to a close, according to the New York Times.

Between the first weekend in May through Labor Day weekend, box office revenues from movies in the United States and Canada have seen a definite drop from last year. This summer’s ticket sales added up to $3.9 billion, 15 percent less than sales from the same time period in 2013.

Why the dip? It seems like opening weekends for the biggest summer blockbusters just haven’t been seeing as big of a turnout as usual. The number crunchers at Vox.com added up the top opening weekends for the biggest summer movies of the last few years, and they found a $40 million difference between last summer and this one. In 2013, the opening weekends of the 11 top summer flicks earned a total of $877 million. This year, that number slumped to $833 million.

“Transformers: Age of Extinction” scored the biggest numbers of the summer with a $100 million opening weekend, followed closely by Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” with just under $100 million and the new “Godzilla.” But all three of this summer’s top movies underperformed 2013′s hottest flicks: “Iron Man 3″ opened with a $173 million weekend, while the latest Superman ...

Courtney Love Has A Draft Of Her New Memoir, But It’s ‘A Nightmare’

by 15 mins ago

By Sasha Geffen

Courtney Love is hard at work on her forthcoming memoir, but don’t expect to see it in bookstores anytime soon. The Hole frontwoman revealed in an interview with Paper Magazine that the current draft of her book The Girl with the Most Cake is presently “a disaster.”

“I never wanted to write a book in my entire life,” Love told Paper for a new feature in the magazine’s 30th anniversary issue.

But despite her reluctance to become an author, she’s already sitting on a manuscript of the autobiography, which she’s been penning with a co-writer. The book will cover Love’s life and career with the seminal grunge band Hole up until the year 2006; everything that’s happened since, she says, is nobody’s business but hers.

The widow of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, Love is currently working on getting the original lineup of Hole back together for a 2015 reunion. This past April she celebrated the 20th anniversary of her band’s critically acclaimed album Live Through This, which was released in 1994 just four days before her husband’s suicide.

Rustie Goes Back To The Future With Green Language

by 38 mins ago

By Andrew Maclean

Can lightning strike twice? Or for that matter, 13 times — on one record? When it comes to his sophomore album, Green Language, Russell “Rustie” Whyte definitely thinks so. The follow-up LP to 2011′s Glass Swords showcases the Glasgow, Scotland-bred dance music producer’s firm grasp on the balance between the futuristic tracks his fans love and a shift away from a sound he believes “a lot of people have been jumping on.”

“I tried to go into this album trying to make it more cohesive, take it a bit more serious, more deeper sounds then from Glass Swords,” Rustie told MTV News.

And though different, Green Language , out Tuesday (August 26), is in every way a continuation of Glass Swords. Rustie launches the record with “Workship” and “Glimpse,” two songs that can tell you everything you need to know about the eclectic Scottish producer. Large shining soundscapes with the textures of prog-rock, hip-hop, and video games are wrapped together to create the world of the new LP.

The album cover for Green Language

For most of the album, Rustie navigates between moments of explosive energy like the Danny Brown-featured “Attak” and “Up Down,” featuring U.K. MC D Double E, to the comforts of luscious ballads like “Lost,” which features Numbers labelmate Redinho, and “Dream On” with Washington D.C.’s Muhsinah.

This balancing act helps Rustie deliver an album thick with emotion and raw “shotgun-blast-to-the-face” instrumentals. That sonic approach, initiated on Rustie’s instrumental-heavy debut ...

by 6 mins ago

By Britt Julious

It’s high time for baseball season and the U.S. Little League Championship game was where it was at yesterday … just ask Chance the Rapper! The Acid Rap rising star tweeted about a visit to a Chicago community center with his father to watch Jackie Robinson West, an all-black team from Chicago’s South Side, take the championship title on a televised game.

The outpouring of support was little surprise for those following the team’s bulldozing journey. Yesterday’s win was not just any game — it was the first time a Chicago team has reached the championship game since 1967 and the first time Jackie Robinson West reached the playoffs since its inception 31 years ago.

“Just know we turnin up for y’all,” the rapper tweeted soon after at a block party, also celebrating the team’s win.

And Chance was not the only music star celebrating the momentous win. Former Chicagoans Flosstradamus , Young Jeezy, and even Lil Wayne threw in their support.

Michael Brown Sr. Asks For No Protests, ‘Moment Of Silence’ During Son’s Funeral

by 36 mins ago

By Britt Julious

After more than two weeks of protests in Feguson, Missouri, Michael Brown’s father has asked people to call off all protests on the day of his son’s funeral.

During an interview on Hot 104.1 FM, a St. Louis-based hip hop station, Michael Brown Sr. said, “I would like for no protesting going on. We just want a moment of silence that whole day. Just out of respect for our son.”

The Ferguson saga has gripped many inside and outside of the community. Celebrities too have voiced their concern and support for the protestors in the increasingly tense aftermath of the August 9 shooting of the unarmed teen. J. Cole and Keke Palmer made trips to the suburban St. Louis town to get a better understanding of the ongoing struggles. Lauryn Hill released “Black Rage,” a protest song, in response to the ongoing violence and rates of police brutality toward African Americans. Most recently, Cat Power announced a free benefit concert in support of the Feguson protesters.

Brown’s funeral will be held on Monday, August 25 at 10 a.m. in a St. Louis church. Expected attendees include the Reverend Al Sharpton and three White House officials.

Jessica Alba Would ‘Absolutely’ Return For ‘Sin City 3′

by 26 mins ago

by Charles Webb

“Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” is the fifth collaboration between actress Jessica Alba and Robert Rodriguez (who co-directed the film with “Sin City” creator Frank Miller). Between the green screen-heavy worlds and crazy action, MTV News wanted to know what kept Alba coming back for more – and during a recent L.A. junket for the film, we asked just that.

“How can you not, he’s so inspiring!” Alba said.

Ten years after the first “Sin City,” Rodriguez asked Alba to once again don the chaps of dancer Nancy – now a troubled alcoholic following the suicide of her savior/lover John Hartigan (Bruce Willis) in the first film. And that meant more timeon virtual sets, more time playing to the noir-infused dialog straight from Miller’s comic scripts – something even co-star Josh Brolin says he struggled with during his time on the film.

But for Alba, she saw working with Rodriguez and within the unique world of “Sin City” as an opportunity.

“He really creates a world and a universe that’s like nothing else,” Alba said of working with the director. “And as an actor, he doesn’t see any limitations on your capabilities or what you can do. He’s constantly challenging the status quo and pushing the limits, so it’s great to be part of it.”

Does that mean Alba would be up for a third go-round as Nancy (presuming she survives “A Dame to Kill For”)?

“Absolutely,” Alba said. “Hopefully, it won’t be in ten years. Hopefully, ...

Jessica Alba Explains How The Girls Are As Bad As The Boys In ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’

by 5 mins ago

By Charles Webb

Returning for her role as Sin City exotic dancer Nancy Callahan, actress Jessica Alba won’t let the guys be the only ones playing the badasses in the Robert Rodriguez/Frank Miller-directed “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.” This time, Nancy gets in on the action.

Speaking with MTV at a recent L.A. junket, Alba explained some of the changes that her character went through between the films, and how the women of Sin City get to be as dangerous as its men this time out.

“In the first ‘Sin City,’ the men are the leads and the characters that you follow,” Alba explained. “And in this one, you get to have a woman who’s part of it, which is pretty cool.”

Alba said that with Nancy joining Gail (Rosario Dawson) and Miho (Jamie Chung) on the action, “A Dame to Kill For” is, “an awesome mix of these really sexy, brooding, cool, awesome dudes and these hot, kick-ass chicks.”

When asked if she thought the women of “Sin City” were allowed a little more dimension than the men – usually hardened killers, bent on revenge – Alba defended some of the “good guys” among the gun-toting toughs.

“Josh Brolin [Dwight] isn’t a crazed killer,” Alba countered. “No! He believes in the greater good. And you know, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s [Johnny] character just wants to connect with who he really is. He’s got a heart of gold.”

Nancy was the heart and soul of 2004′s “Sin City,” the only character who ...

Selena Gomez Plays A Heartbroken Girlfriend In ‘Rudderless’ — Watch The Trailer

by 6 mins ago

By Ezra Marcus

Selenators, start your engines: we’ve finally got a glimpse of Selena in the trailer for this fall’s “Rudderless.” Directed by William H. Macy, the film tells the tale of a father (Billy Crudup) who attempts to find himself through music after the tragic death of his son.

Gomez plays the bereaved girlfriend in what looks like it’ll be a red-alert-sandbag-the-levees tearjerker. Selena already cried a river for her previous “Spring Breakers” character, and with a tragically dead boyfriend, she’ll have plenty of reasons to cry, then smile through the tears, and rediscover joy.

Selena will join an all-star cast that includes Anton Yelchin, Felicity Huffman, and Laurence Fishburne. Chip Esten also appears: if you’re not familiar he plays the illustrious Deacon Claybourne in ABC’s “Nashville”, and we can assume his twangy vocal chops and gut-wrenching portrayal of a recovering alcoholic helped him snag this singing role. While the movie will feature original material, there’s no word on whether or not Selena will sing herself. Fingers crossed. Just fyi, the songs so far sound like a cross between Ed Sheeran and Mumford & Sons.

In a slightly related detail, it seems William H. Macy made the executive decision to have his character rock a weird fedora, but hey, he’s the director of the movie and he can do whatever he wants. Also, the folksy singer-songwriter saloon where Crudup makes his triumphant comeback performance is called the “Trill Tavern.” A$AP Rocky cameo? ...
