Shailene Woodley Gets Advice From J-Law, And So Should You

Picture this: You're a Hollywood starlet, just starting out, when the opportunity comes along to do a major motion picture franchise based on a beloved YA literary trilogy. But before you sign on, you need some Real Talk about what you're signing up for. Who do you call?

If you said, "Jennifer Lawrence!" then you've made the right choice; as did Shailene Woodley, before she officially made the decision to star in "E! that she emailed J-Law for advice on the pros and cons of teen film franchises, and got some excellent feedback.

"She was like, 'Listen, there are a few things that you should not do, like drugs and make a sex tape, or go to Whole Foods the day the movie opens, but it's gonna change your life in so many positive ways. Definitely do it," Woodley said.

Needless to say, Shailene took that advice, and rightly so since Jennifer Lawrence is a virtual treasure trove of information on all manner of subjects. In light of her useful tips on the ups and downs of stardom, let's look back on J-Law's history of advice.

On being in love, in public:
"You don't want your relationship to be in the press, but at the same time, and this is only a theory, the more you try to keep it secret, the more the media tries to crack it open."

On narrow beauty standards:
"You look how you look, so be comfortable. What are you going to do, be hungry every single day ...

Lena Dunham Has A Message For Hollywood: Change Or Die

Sure, "Girls" has landed Lena Dunham work on
a book deal and endless praise for her comedic smarts. But, it's still hard out there for a woman to get a good part in Hollywood and the fight is not nearly over.

During a well-received 45-minute keynote address at the SXSW Festival on Monday, Dunham took attendees on a trip through her unlikely climb to the pay cable mountaintop, with stops at babysitting money, her first taco-fueled trip to Austin four years ago and her total disregard for ratings.

"It's a rough scene," Dunham said about the casting choices facing women in movies and TV these days. "It's hard to always offer comforting words on that topic. I think about this in relation to the cast on my show, which consists of three very talented women and also some very talented guys."

For instance, her TV boyfriend, lumbering male lead Adam Driver, had a "bang-up" year in movies ("Lincoln," "Inside Llewyn Davis" and a rumored part in "Star Wars: Episode VII"), which she said he totally deserved because he's a "ferocious genius with an incredible work ethic."

But ... the women on "Girls," well, they're still waiting patiently for parts that are "going to honor their intelligence and their ability."

And while the world seems ready to see Driver as good guys, bad guys, sweet and scary guys, the same can't quite be said for "Girls" co-stars Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet or Jemima Kirke.

"They're all ready to stretch their legs in the same variety of diverse roles," Dunham said. But ...

‘The Voice’ Recap: Things Get ‘Crazy’ As Blind Auditions Continue

"Wait for great" was the name of the game as the third week of blind auditions on "The Voice" kicked into high gear Monday night (March 10) and Adam Levine, Shakira, Usher and Blake Shelton got closer to filling the last few slots on their teams.

As it came down to the wire, the contestants left their hearts on the blind audition stage, making it that much harder for the four coaches to selective while filling the few remaining spots. Here are a few of the night's highlights.

Goodbye Yodeling, Hello Rocking Out
When 33-year-old Kat Perkins hit the blind stage, she immediately grabbed the attention of three of the four coaches. Levine praised the former yodeling cowgirl's voice for "sear[ing] the entire audience," and Shakira encouraged the contestant to "be the architect of [her] own destiny" and choose to be with her. In the end, the rocker landed herself a spot on Team Adam, as well as a victorious lift by her new coach.

Pop Star Flashback
Flash back to 2006, when newcomer Paula Deanda ruled the radio airwaves with her hit songs "Doing Too Much" and "Walk Away {Remember Me)." She may have been dropped from her label, but has never lost her drive. She hit the blind audition stage with Ariana Grande's "The Way," and smooth vocals, killer falsetto and impressive whistle tones resonated with both Shelton and Shakira. Ultimately, the country coach's premonition of a victory in Deanda's future won the contestant's alliance.

Flying Falsetto
If he hadn't mentioned it before hitting the stage, it'd have been hard ...

Jay Z And Kanye’s SXSW Reunion: 5 Things To Expect (And Hope For)

SXSW just got a lot more interesting. Samsung announced Monday (March 10) that Jay Z and Kanye West will be descending upon the already star-studded festival Wednesday for a special, one-night-only performance at Austin Music Hall.

But here's the catch: wristbands for the epic Watch The Throne reunion will only be handed out to owners of Samsung Galaxy devices — with the Milk Music ad-free radio service downloaded on it — starting Tuesday (March 11) morning at 10 a.m. at the Galaxy Experience located on Second Street and Trinity.

The fact that Samsung is responsible for the hottest ticket at the festival this week should come as no surprise, considering the company helped Hov usher in his "new rules" with the release of his latest opus, Magna Carta Holy Grail with one million copies sold the day it debuted. A lot has changed in Jay and Ye's lives since they last toured together in 2012, so here's a few things we'd all like to see when they hit the stage:

1. Break Their 'Paris' Record
While in Paris, the pair performed their Grammy Award-winning "N---as in Paris" a record 12 straight times. For this one-off show, we'd love to see them go for the baker's dozen.

2. A Cameo From Kim And Bey
Since they went their separate ways to tour for MCHG and Yeezus, respectively, Kanye has found his own Bonnie to his Clyde, so it's only right that both of the rap kings' queens join them onstage.

3. And Another From JT
Kanye can squash his beef with ...

Hello there, good-looking reader. We know a few things about you, just by looking at you. You have a lot going on in your life, short on time but long on the need for pop culture savvy. When "Veronica Mars" was on the air almost a decade ago, you may not have found the time to watch it. After all, DVR wasn't really a thing then, and the show was only on for three seasons. (RIP, UPN.)

Now, however, what's a culture addict to do when a hotly anticipated, Kickstarter-funded movie is on the horizon, and there's no time (or attention span) to be found to watch the entire series before the Friday release date? Watch the first eight minutes of the film with our handy annotations, of course, and then sit back and enjoy the ride come this weekend. Welcome to Marshmallow-dom, reader.

You can check out the first eight minutes of the movie now on Fandango. Here are your study notes to bone up before the final exam Friday.

There Are Four Lily Allens In ‘Our Time,’ And They’re All Badass

There are many, many Lily Allens — the one with the pink eyeshadow in "Smile," the washed-up party girl in "22,," the bad bitch in "Hard Out Here" — and in her latest video, for "Our Time," we see what happens when four of them get drunk and team up for a wild night out in Londontown.

There's the most recognizably Lily Allen Lily Allen, wearing a white fur coat and her jet-black hair in a high ponytail. Then there's the more uptown-girl Lily, her hair in a posh updo. And finally, there's the rough-around-the edges blonde, who ends up getting into a fight with the one dressed up as a hotdog — apparently, the sausage product is having a moment. But worry not, they make up, and all four share a rather friendly cab ride home together — with the blonde and the raven-haired Lilys even sneaking in a steamy — and, if you think about it, a very weird —kiss in the back seat.

It's all fitting for the slightly hedonistic "Our Time," off Allen's May 5 album Sheezus. "And we can swing and dance the night away/ We don't give a damn what people say," Allen sings on the track. "We've had enough so turn it up/ Tonight we're taking over."

"Our Time" is the third single off Sheezus. In addition to the video, Allen also revealed the full track list for her May 5 album on Monday:

» "Sheezus"
» "L8 Cmmr"
»"Air Balloon"
» "Our Time"
» "Insincerely Yours"
» "Take My Place"
» "As Long As I Got You"
» "Close Your ...
