Sound familiar? That's the basic premise of But it also is a handy synopsis of the relationship between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader in the saga.
Once we realized that, it only made sense to wonder what "True Detective" might look like if it took place in a galaxy far, far away. Thanks to this mash-up that puts "Star Wars" characters in the "True Detective" main title sequence, we never have to wonder again.
Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi take the place of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as both their younger and older selves, with appearances by Anakin's tortured wife (Padme) and his daughter (Princess Leia), who is quite literally a rebellious teenager.
But who, in this version, is the yellow king? C-3P0 probably wouldn't be a bad guess.
