Independent Spirit Awards 2014: Winners List

The 2014 Independent Spirit Awards have come and gone, and like always, were a treat for those who love the more laid-back setting and diverse films than you see at the Academy Awards. Like past shows, this year's Spirit Awards lined up Oscar fare like "12 Years A Slave" alongside some films Oscar snubbed in the major categories, like "Inside Llewyn Davis" and "All Is Lost." The show also gave lesser known filmmakers a chance to strut their stuff alongside some of Hollywood's best and brightest.

This year's show was hosted by fan-favorite and nerd extraordinaire Patton Oswalt, and it was definitely, well, different from what we'll get when Ellen hosts the Oscars. Oscars 2014 Predictions: Best Actor

Could it be? Is this finally the year that Leonardo DiCaprio becomes the King of the Oscar World?

It's certainly a possibility, as DiCaprio finds himself nominated for Best Actor at the 2014 Oscars, up for his role as crooked money-man Jordan Belfort in "The Wolf of Wall Street." But it won't be a walk in the park for DiCaprio's drug-fueled Belfort, as he's up against a talented roster of all-star nominees including Christian Bale ("American Hustle"), Bruce Dern ("Nebraska"), Chiwetel Ejiofor ("12 Years a Slave") and Matthew McConaughey ("Dallas Buyers Club").

Here's who we think will win on the big night — as well as who we think should win.

Who Will Win: Leonardo DiCaprio Honestly, it's about time. DiCaprio has gone zero-for-three in his previous Oscar at-bats. (He was nominated for 1994's "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," 2005's "The Aviator" and 2007's "Blood Diamond.") With "Wall Street," four looks like it'll be the lucky number. DiCaprio's Belfort could have been just another of cinema's many drug-addled monsters, but he brought a certain humanity and undeniable energy that separated this particular wolf from the rest of the pack.

For legacy reasons and for his work on "Wall Street," it looks like it's finally DiCaprio's year. Besides, isn't that what the spoilers say?

Oscars 2014 Prediction: Best Actor

Who Should Win: Anyone of Them Oh, that's such a boring, kneecap-sucking answer, but it's also true! Like just about every category at this year's Oscars, the Best Actor contenders are all worthy of the statuette.

DiCaprio is worthy for the aforementioned reasons; Dern for his ...

Kendrick Lamar Finally Responds To Macklemore’s Grammy Text

Drake said it was "wack as f--k," but Maino said he respected it. Almost everyone has had something to say about Macklemore's infamous post-Grammy text to Kendrick Lamar after he "robbed" the good kid, m.A.A.d city MC of Best Rap Album — except K.Dot.

Until now.

In a cover story with Billboard, the TDE rapper finally addressed the apology.

"That text surprised me, but Macklemore is a genuine dude," Lamar said, diplomatically. "However it panned out, I wish him much success. He touched people's souls, and no one can take that away. Really, the whole Grammy moment was incredible. Not everyone gets that shot."

Not quite the response one might expect from the man who lobbed lyrical grenades at all of his rap peers on last year's most-talked-about battle cry track,

For those living under a rock or somehow missed the copious amounts of hilarious memes, the "Thrift Shop" rapper's apology basically acknowledged that he felt Kendrick should have won and that it felt weird to sweep every hip-hop award that night.

"You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have," Macklemore wrote. "It's weird and sucks that I robbed you. I was gonna say that during the speech. Then the music started playing during my speech, and I froze. Anyway, you know what it is. Congrats on this year and your music. Appreciate you as an artist and as a friend. Much love."

For his part, though, Kendrick has moved on from his Grammy snub. The "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" rapper has been busy in ...
