Robinson Cano, David Ortiz, Sway Team Up For MTV2’s ‘Off The Bat’

Major League Baseball is letting its biggest stars pinch-hit for MTV2 on a brand-new series called

Hosted by Sway, Fat Joe and "Guy Code" and "Girl Code" stars Chris Distefano and Melanie Iglesias, "Off The Bat" brings fans inside the lives of All-Stars like Robinson Cano, Adam Jones and Craig Kimbrel, 2013 Rookies of the Year Jose Fernandez and Wil Myers, plus reigning World Series MVP David Ortiz, who has signed on as executive producer.

"Off The Bat" will launch in April on MTV2 as a weekly, 30-minute series, and will broadcast from the MLB Fan Cave in New York City ... and while some shows focus on stats, this one is all about the stars (though it would be pretty amazing to hear Fat Joe talk about WAR and BABIP): "Off The Bat" will not only feature MLB players and famous fans — maybe Mac will be there! — but each episode will also spotlight the stars' personalities and passions.

Each episode features on-location segments with players, diving deeper into their off-the-field interests that fans don't normally see, whether it's a tour of their favorite restaurants or a look at their sneaker collection. In short, "Off The Bat" will focus on the sweet-spot where baseball and popular culture meet, presenting the game in a whole new way.

"Off The Bat from the MLB Fan Cave" is set to premiere in April on MTV2. Get ready to play ball.

8 Reasons Why Paul Rudd Is Just A Perfect Human Being

When Paul Rudd busted out his rendition of Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" during his "Tonight Show" lip-sync battle with Jimmy Fallon, our hearts grew two sizes too big.

Why? Because Paul Rudd is obviously a perfect human being and the only thing I can find wrong with him is that he is mortal, and will therefore not be able to bestow his many blessings upon future generations.

Check out some very persuasive evidence of this fact below:

He Guest-Starred On Shows That Everyone Loves

From "Parks and Recreation" to "Veronica Mars" to "Friends," Rudd has the guest star game on lock. Now all he needs to do is show up on "True Detectives" and I can die covered in Netflix DVDs and smiles.

He Looks The Same Now As He Did In 'Clueless' — Or Better

Someone's been drinking from the Tuck Everlasting spring and his name rhymes with "Doll Bud."

He Was The Best Part Of 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall'

What else happened in that movie? Puppets? Russell Brand? Who even knows.

He Co-Created 'Party Down'

Like all things good, according to Billy Joel, this show died young. But did it burn bright. Did it burn bright...

He Can Pull Off A Beard

Naked, no less!

His Was The Only Super Hero Casting To Bring Total Delight

While some super hero casting choices had comic fans Hulk-smashing, when Paul Rudd was cast as the leading role in 2015's "Ant-Man" the only thing busting to pieces around these parts was everyone's collective heart.

Slappin' Da Bass Mon!

I mean, just, I can't.

Pharrell Glides Into Oscar Sunday Holding Down #1 Singles Spot

It's good to be Pharrell Williams. Just days before he makes his Oscar telecast debut Sunday night, Skateboard P can celebrate the second week
at #1 for his "Despicable Me 2" smash "Happy."

The song, also #1 on the iTunes singles chart, will be included on P's G I R L
album, due out Monday and streaming now on iTunes.

"Happy" Sales Are Snappy
With sales up 22 percent, "Happy" sold 402,000 copies, according to Billboard, easily keeping Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" at #2. Sales for KP's latest hit dipped 9 percent to 251,000 during the same week that she finally released the Egyptastic
video for the hit. Among the only climbers in a mostly static top 10 were Aloe Blacc's "The Man," which was up two spots to #6 (133,000) and Idina Menzel's "Let It Go" from "Frozen" (up to #7, 125,000).

Deep Freeze Sets In Again
The polar vortex is endless and, let's face it, who can get enough of Menzel's Oscar-nominated smash "Let It Go"? That might explain why the soundtrack to "Frozen" will be back at #1 this week on the Billboard 200 album chart after selling 89,000 copies, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.

It was the fifth trip to the top for the 1.1 million-selling album from the nearly billion dollar-grossing animated winter wonder. "Frozen" has been on the charts for 13 weeks and has notched more weeks at #1 by any soundtrack since "Titanic" in 1998.

Otherwise, though, the majority of the top 10 releases suffered double-digit drops. The only debuts came from ...

Oscars 2014 Predictions: Best Visual Effects

Every Oscars ballot needs a "gimme," right? For the 86th Academy Awards, your best bet for a guaranteed picked is Best Visual Effects. It's usually the part of the evening where your favorite blockbuster gets a chance to shine, but 2013 was not any old year.

Last year, the "Hobbits" and superhero movies of the world had the misfortune of coming out within the same 12 months as "Gravity," the awards powerhouse that's one of the two favorites to win Best Picture. It's also the film that was heralded as a huge step forward for special effects. Director Alfonso Cuarón had to wait four years and invent certain techniques in order to even make "Gravity."

Does anyone stand a chance at bringing "Gravity" back down to Earth?

Who Will Win: "Gravity"
To answer my own question: no. No one has a shot at beating "Gravity." It's not often that a Best Picture frontrunner is up for the special effects category, but in this case, one of the two movies vying for the top prize is almost entirely computer animated. Sorry, Bilbo.

Oscars 2014 Predictions: Best Visual Effects

Who Should Win: "Gravity"
There's a reason that a win for "Gravity" is guaranteed. It's because there was simply no better use of visual effects this year. Even if you take away all of the innovative techniques Cuarón and his team used, the overall effect of "Gravity" relied more on CGI than the other nominees, and it's the best film of the bunch. This one is already over.

Marvel To Film Netflix Series In NYC

Marvel, in a joint press conference with New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced today that their Netflix series — starting with "Daredevil," and continuing with "Luke Cage," "Jessica Jones" and "Iron Fist" before ending with a "Defenders" team-up event — will all film on the streets of New York City for the next few years.

Not a ton is known as of yet about the four series. "Cabin in the Woods" director Drew Goddard is taking the writing and directing reigns on at least the pilot of "

Why is this location-based announcement exciting? Because Marvel Comics, and the characters being adapted for Netflix in particular, all got their start on the streets of New York. Unlike Marvel's DC Comics counterparts, Marvel set their superheroes in a simulacrum of the real world... And no location is more populated by their heroes than NYC.

Granted, many TV shows set in New York don't film in NYC, instead choosing to get selected exterior shots in the city while sticking to a soundstage in Los Angeles, or Vancouver for the majority of shooting. With these five series shooting in the city proper, not only will they have the authentic feel fans have been asking for but they'll also create a multitude of jobs for NYC residents. Specifically, according to Cuomo, $200 million and 400 full time jobs over the next three years.

And that adds a timeline for the series. We know that "Daredevil" is first out of the gate, launching in Fall 2015. But assuming we start filming in 2015, that means we ...

‘Ghostbusters III’ Is Still Happening, But It Really Shouldn’t

The world lost a comedy legend when Harold Ramis passed away earlier this week. The writer, director and actor had a hand in many — if not most — of the '80s comedies that people generally consider classics. This, of course, includes "Ghostbusters" and "Ghostbusters II," in which he starred and co-wrote.

Before he died, Ramis was set to make a cameo appearance alongside Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in "Ghostbusters III," Sony's quasi-sequel/reboot that has been developing for years. On Tuesday, The Hollywood Reporter followed up with the studio to see how Ramis' death would affect the movie, and the answer, unfortunately, was "not much."

With Ramis gone, that leaves Aykroyd and Murray, who has previously gone back and forth on whether a sequel was a good idea at all. "They just don't have a really good script. It's hard," Murray told David Letterman in 2012. "Even the second 'Ghostbusters' wasn't as much fun for me as the first one. It's hard to make a sequel. That first one was really funny. It was just so darn funny, it's hard for me."

Not exactly a vote of confidence.

So who would "Ghostbusters III" be for? In light of Sony's willingness to move forward without Egon, it makes me wonder why — aside from obvious financial reasons — anyone would be interested in seeing another movie in the series.

To get a better idea of what's going on here, let's break down the hypothetical audience for any potential sequel. There are the people who want to reunite with the ...
