‘Batman Eternal #2’ Writer Explains Who The Heck The ‘New’ Bad Guys Are

DC Comics continues its weekly exploration of all things Batman today (April 16) with the release of "Batman Eternal #2." Where the first issue teased a dismal future where Batman and Gotham City were in ruins, and showed how Commissioner Gordon accidentally causes the crime of the century; issue two brings on the bad guys.

What might be most surprising is that the comic book has yet to introduce the big Batman baddies like The Joker or Mr. Freeze. Instead we're getting a new villain, a mostly forgotten villain, and one of the most notorious Gotham villains fans haven't seen in years.

To break down what it all means, we once again talked to writer Scott Snyder, who also dropped a few hints as to where this is all going. Spoilers from this point on:

MTV: This week's issue seems to be all about the power vacuum in Gotham filling up, now that Gordon is gone. Let's talk first about the mysterious man who's eyes glow green, and seems to hypnotize Officer Strode.

Scott Snyder: One of the joys of writing this series is to create new villains, and bring back old ones. A lot of the fun, and tug of war in how much to show you guys, or tell has been, do we reveal this is a new character, do we reveal this an old character? And we wanted to show the least here.

There's going to be villains behind the political machinations that happen to Gordon, and the things that happen to Bruce, and ...

Hogwarts Forever: A Commencement Address For The (Internet) Class Of 2014

The Internet has been abuzz after the creation of a fan-made online Hogwarts, enabling legions of hard-core fans to live out their fantasy of immersing themselves in the same curriculum that Harry Potter and his magical pals did at the wizarding school. Considering that the volume of traffic to the site has overloaded the server space repeatedly, it's safe to say this unofficial fan tribute is gaining some real traction. We grabbed our Time Turner and traveled a few days into the future, to the graduation day of the inaugural class of Internet Hogwarts. Check out the transcript of the commencement speech below.

Well, Internet Hogwarts Class of 2014, it's here. We finally did it. Today is the day we go out into the world as full-fledged Internet wizards.

To clarify, we've already been out in the world, most of us for a few dozen years. But now, guys. Now things are different. Now, we have an internet degree in wizardry. And no, Mom, it's not from the University of Phoenix. [Pause for laughter.] Get it? Phoenix. Haha.

I kid, I kid. To be real, I can't believe it's been actual days since we read about the creation of a fan-made virtual Hogwarts on Twitter, signed up and self-selected our Houses — Hufflepuffs, what are you doing? You know you have a choice, right? — and then sat in helpless frustration while refreshing the academics page over and over again, hoping that a few of our fellow geeks would eventually give up so that the server could handle our teensy tiny ...

Who Tops ‘Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest’ List?

Plenty of rappers brag about their riches, but a few have true wealth. With the latest installment of their annual "The Forbes Five: Hip-Hop's Wealthiest Artists," Forbes highlighted hip-hop's top earners — and the cream of the crop may not surprise you.

The five names on the list — Diddy, Dr. Dre, Jay Z, Birdman and 50 Cent — are widely recognized as rap's most successful businessmen.

Diddy scored the top slot this year, with a reported fortune of $700 million. He earned $120 million of that this year, much of which came from business ventures like Revolt TV and Ciroc. But Diddy is back to the music, too, with his single out now and his album, Money Making Mitch, on the way.

Fellow producer/rapper/label head Dr. Dre trails Puff by a healthy $150 million. A large amount of the Compton native's $550 million is owed to the success of Beats by Dr. Dre, which he co-founded in 2008 and is now valued at almost $2 billion.

The gap between Dre and Jay Z is $30 million, with much of the growth on Hov's current $520 million fortune attributed to the expansion of Roc Nation. With Roc Nation Sports, the rapper and his company are helping to broker deals for some of the biggest names in the pros, including Robinson Cano (who signed a $240 million contract this year) and Kevin Durant. Touring doesn't hurt, either, and if rumors are true, Jigga may be headed out on the road with wife Beyoncé this summer.

Birdman's ...

Jenny McCarthy Engaged To Donnie Wahlberg

Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg are making it official!

On Wednesday (April 16), McCarthy announced her big news on her show, "The View," happily proclaiming "I just got engaged!" as she proceeded to jump around the set.

The bride-to-be proudly showed off her massive yellow sapphire rock and tearfully revealed to the audience how the New Kids On the Block singer — with the help of her 11-year-old son Evan Asher — popped the big question.

"This weekend I was sitting with Donnie and he went into the other room and out came Evan with a card that said 'Will.' And he ran away and came back with a card that said 'You,' and I knew what was happening and I just started crying. And then he came out with a card that said 'Marry,' but it was spelled 'Mary,' and the last time Donnie came out with Evan and Evan's shirt said 'Me?' and he was holding the ring," she said, clearly getting emotional.

"He asked, 'Will you marry me?' I of course said yes. And in that moment, Evan yelled, 'I have another dad! I have another dad.' And it was just — it made all of us cry. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. He's so wonderful."

Shortly after, the boy band vet came out on set to the surprise of his fiancée, and showered her with hugs and kisses, making everyone in the audience and at home tear up.

McCarthy, who began dating Wahlberg last summer, admitted that she and her fiancé don't yet know when ...

Batman And Darth Vader Celebrate Sideshow Collectibles Anniversay: See Exclusive Pics

For 20 years, Sideshow Collectibles has been taking pop culture icons and transforming them into collectible art statues. And now, in honor of their anniversary, Insight Editions is releasing a coffee table book featuring stylized photos of their creations called "Capturing Archetypes."

MTV News is pleased to exclusively debut pages from the book — which hits stores on April 22 — as well as the volume's introduction by director Guillermo del Toro:

Reprinted from Capturing Archetypes: Twenty Years of Sideshow Collectibles Art by Sideshow Collectibles, published by Insight Editions © 2014.

FOREWORD
Sideshow and Me
Guillermo del Toro

My relationship with Sideshow Collectibles has always been very special.

I contacted them early enough as a collector that I have seen them grow and expand, and I've watched, in awe, how they never relinquish their quest for perfection.

Their creations are in a league of their own and have created a mystique that many have tried to imitate without success.

And yet, their secret is simple: They think like storytellers and feel like collectors. They will not engage with a property unless they have a passion for it. They long to be part of the tale and not an afterthought. Sideshow is not into merchandising, but into mythologizing.

From the start, I viewed Sideshow as my storytelling partners. They are an intrinsic part of the way my films reach an audience, the way they attempt to leave a cultural footprint.

The ‘Gone Girl’ Trailer: What Was Missing?

I don't know about you, but I've probably watched the trailer for about 15 times already, combing through for clues as to how Gillian Flynn's amazing novel will look on screen. And although there's a lot in there to unpack, there are still a few things I hope will appear in the next teaser.

"Gone Girl" tells the tale of a couple of down-on-their luck New York writers — Amy (Rosamund Pike) and Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) — who relocate to Nick's hometown of North Carthage, Missouri, where their marriage starts to unravel -- and fast.

When Amy disappears — perhaps violently — Nick is forced to deal with the fallout, as well as accusations by the police and public that he is to blame.

The trailer does a wonderful job of setting up the drama and tension — depicting Nick's panic as the police and public find more and more reason to blame him for Amy's disappearance, all the while underscored by a superbly dissonant cover of Charles Aznavour's "She," as performed by Richard Butler from Psychedelic Furs.

Still, there are some aspects absent in the trailer that I'm aching to see — although they're likely absent for good reason.

SPOILERS AHEAD

For those who have read the book, you'll know that Amy isn't actually dead or missing — she framed Nick as part of some elaborate revenge plot. Still, Flynn has told press that the end of the film differs wildly from the end of the book, which means that the trailer is as mysterious to "Gone Girl" fans as it ...

Watch One Direction Chest-Bump And Wear Comfy Sweaters In ‘You & I’ Teaser

Get ready ladies: the boys of One Direction are about to show you their romantic side.

Leading up to Friday's premiere of "You & I," One Direction have been releasing Instagram teaser videos for their latest single off last year's Midnight Memories.

On Wednesday (April 16), we got an extended look at Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan, who all smolder in the black-and-white clip as they brave the cold temperatures at Clevedon Pier outside of Somerset, England.

The clip doesn't give away the premise for the video, directed by long-time collaborator Ben Winston, but Niall promises that they are "doing something very different" this time around for the song. Zayn describes it as a "romantic song for all those candle-lit dinners."

The teaser transitions from actual music video footage to behind-the-scenes shots, as the boys bundle up in warm sweaters, play soccer on the pier, chest-bump and show off their more serious side.

"Personally, I think it's one of our best songs," Liam said in an earlier teaser. "It's just such a big track and it's more grown-up for us."

In addition to their latest video, 1D have been asking fans for their help in remixing the acoustic ballad, with Liam — or as he calls himself, "Big Payno" — getting in on the mix, giving an EDM spin to the single. Fans can visit the band's Soundcloud page to get the vocal stems for their versions and check back every week to see if their version was added to Liam's playlist.

In just over a week the ...
