Katy Perry Charts Best Debut Ever With <I>Prism</I>

Katy Perry's roll just goes on-and-on. After killing the game with "Roar," KP is no doubt celebrating the #1 debut of Prism
, which gave the singer her best-ever first week thanks to sales of 286,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.

Dreams Come True
The #1 slot for Prism gives Perry two #1 debuts in a row, tying the open for her nearly triple platinum Teenage Dream, which also hit the top spot when it was released in August 2010 and sold 192,000 copies. Perry can also boast 2013's best-selling week for a female solo artist, beating out the first frame of Miley Cyrus' Bangerz (270,000).

Katy easily bested the week's other debuts (in fact she sold more than #2-9 combined), including Fifth Harmony's Better Together EP (#6, 28,000), DJ Khaled's Suffering From Success (#7, 27,000) and AFI's Burials (#9, 25,000). Over on the iTunes album chart, pre-sales for One Direction's Midnight Memories had the #2 slot locked down.

Drake Nears A Milli
The rest of the top 10 featured a shuffling of the deck from some recent chart toppers. Last week's #1 from Pearl Jam, Lightning Bolt, dropped 72 percent to #2 (46,000) and Cyrus was down two spots to #4 (43,000). Drake's Nothing Was The Same inched up a slot to #3 (44,000), putting him at more than 991,000, assuring platinum status by next week's chart.

Lorde also scooted up a bit, climbing two to #5 with her full-length debut, Pure Heroine, which moved another 40,000 for a one-month total of nearly 280,000. The week's biggest gainer was 20, the ...

Ke$ha’s Being A ‘Crazy Bitch’ On New Season Of ‘My Crazy Beautiful Life’

Ke$ha returns to TV tonight with the second season of her MTV series one she's been promoting for more than a month now with talk of and, of course,

In other words, it's business as usual for the wonderfully weird pop star, who welcomes fans back into her life — and shares the spotlight with family and friends, including her mom Pebe, younger brother Louie and assistant Tessa — on season two of the show. And while some might think she's going for sheer shock value this time around, Ke$ha maintains she's just being herself.

"I mean, I don't know what you call it, it's just my life. I have people following me around with cameras. I bring them everywhere," she laughed. "It's my TV show. I want people to watch it and go 'Did she do that? I can't believe she did that! What a crazy bitch!' "

The second season of premieres Wednesday night at 10:30 p.m. ET (9:30 CT) on MTV, and this time around, the craziness includes swimming with sharks, a whole lot of twerking, some family drama and, of course, that aforementioned vaginal exorcism ... and that's just in the first few episodes. We'll also get to see Ke$ha continue to work on her new album, deal with heartbreak — and go on epic rants about her , too.

And as for this season's finale? Well, Ke$ha's already got big plans for that, too.

‘Wolverine’ Writer Tackles ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’: Here’s How We Imagine It

The movie adaptation of E L James' erotic "Fifty Shades of Grey" novel has already seen its fair share of ups and downs, ins and outs, and back and forth. And now, the production is experiencing another slight hump in the road with the addition of yet another writer to the team (there's already three) — veteran action screenwriter Mark Bomback.

Bomback, who has been responsible for movies like "The Wolverine" and "Live Free and Die Hard," has been hired to polish the script one last time, adding his own distinctive, teasing touch to the script.

With that in mind, what could Bomback's add to the script? Linking back to his previous movies, we imagine his "Fifty Shades" would be a little unusual.

Runaway Train, Never Coming... Back
Bomback wrote a runaway train movie called "Unstoppable," and then had a runaway train fight in "The Wolverine." So chances are, you're going to get the same thing in his version of "Fifty Shades." Just think about all those trains going in and out of tunnels. In, and out... In, and out. Holy cow.

Way More Hacking
Picking up where "Live Free or Die Hard" left off, heroine Anastasia Steele could be a plucky hacker with a sidekick played by Justin Long. If you like "Fifty Shades" novel's slow, drawn-out bondage, you'll love the "Fifty Shades" movie's long scenes of slow, drawn-out computer hacking. Also, Kevin Smith is briefly there for no clear reason, which should really help everything feel way more sexy.

No Subtext
What made the 2012 remake of "Total Recall" so successful was the complete lack ...

Jonas Brothers Reveal The Real Reason Behind Their Breakup

One day after they officially announced they were breaking up, the Jonas Brothers sat down on "Good Morning America" on Wednesday (October 30) to address the cause for the split.

The trio all sat down together for the first time since canceling their fall tour and deleting their Twitter account earlier this month, and detailed why they felt like now was the right time to call it a day as a band.

"I was actually the one that initiated the conversation," Nick said. "You know, we're family first and that's always been our main priority and so honesty within what we do as a group was really important. So I came to the table with the guys just before we were prepping to leave for tour and I shared my heart with them, my feelings."

The Jonas Brothers In Better Times

Nick then recalled what he told his brothers during what he called a "tough conversation."

"I think in a nutshell I said, 'Look, I feel like we've had some complications with the new group for a long time without addressing them," Nick said. "I think this train will fall off the tracks without really getting real about some of the concerns and some of the limitations we may feel as individuals.' "

Older brother, Joe, then addressed, in more detail, some of the reasons they have decided to go their separate ways. "To just name a few, for us, as a band it was the music, for us, we kind of held on to it for so long. At one ...

Ariana Grande And Patrick Schwarzenegger Kiss Shakespeare-Style In ‘Right There’ Video

Who knew Ariana Grande was both a literary buff and a cinephile? Her new video for is not just based on William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" but, specifically, Baz Luhrmann's 1996 take on the classic tale, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes in the leading roles.

The video focuses on the story's giant masquerade party, with Grande as Juliet and her pals dolled up in massive gowns. And while it would have been easy to cast the song's collaborator Big Sean as the singer's star-crossed love interest, instead he plays the Priest, with Arnold Schwarzenegger's dreamboat son, Patrick, in the role of Romeo.

The video doesn't stray too far from the events written by Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet lock eyes at the masquerade gala, flirt and fall for one another after Romeo and his pals scale the gate and crash the fete. Sean doesn't ever interact with the young lovers; instead he only appears in cutaways chilling in the church in couture.

The clothes might be very old school, but blame that Grande's fascination with the '90s (she got very '90s in her ) in this clip. In fact, Romeo and his Hawaiian-shirt wearing pals look a lot like the bad boys from Lurhmann's version of the events.

Heck, there's even a guy dressed up like an astronaut, which might not only pay homage to the directors, The Young Astronauts (who also directed Grande in her "Almost Is Never Enough" video), but also Paul Rudd's costume in Luhrmann's flick.

In fact, much like in the ...

What’s Taylor Swift Cooking Up In The Studio?

After talking about getting ready to get ready to start writing her fifth album, Taylor Swift is finally doing the thing. Swift told fans on Tuesday that she's getting down to work on the as-yet-untitled follow-up to her multi-platinum smash Red. "Sitting in the studio writing the next album (!!!!)," she wrote.

She also thanked fans for voting for her at the upcoming American Music Awards, which take place on November 24. She's up for Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist Pop/Rock, Favorite Album Pop/Rock, Favorite Female Artist Country and Favorite Album Country.

Swift, who is currently filming
also racked up eight nominations for the fourth-annual American Country Awards (December 10), including Artist of the Year, Artist of the Year: Female, Single of the Year: Female, Single of the Year: Vocal Collaboration, Touring Artist of the Year and Music Video of the Year.

Swift recently told the Associated Press that she's planning to go into a new direction on the album, possibly teasing that fresh sound with the bright pop ditty
from the "One Chance" soundtrack. The synth-heavy song, co-written by Fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff, has some serious 1980s new wave influence and was inspired by the story of "Britain's Got Talent" winner Paul Potts, who rose to fame after appearing on the U.K. talent show.

"I think the goal for the next album is to continue to change, and never change in the same way twice," she told AP. "How do I write these figurative diary entries in ways that I've never written ...

Watch: ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Director’s Trailer Commentary

Yesterday's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" trailer satisfied and teased in equal parts. Fans got to see the entire team from both timelines together for the first time, but there seemed to be as much we weren't seeing as Wolverine traveled back in time to stop an apocalyptic future.

We got on the phone with director Bryan Singer yesterday to answer some of our lingering question about the first preview and what we can expect to see when the movie hits theaters next year.

Modeled on "Man of Steel"
"I asked for something emotionally driven for this first piece, to just reintroduce characters and the stakes. It's got plenty of action and scope, but I think at it's core to remind audiences of the world, the stakes, and the characters, so it was nice to lead with a piece like this. To be honest, I was very fond of the 'Man of Steel' trailer. I felt really felt that it captivated the heart of that character. I wanted something similar to that."

New Class
"They're part of a younger group of surviving refugees in the future that have been living moment to moment just trying to stay alive, so we find them confronted with the members of the original, few-remaining X-Men, who basically ask them help them with this plan. They're skeptical, but they also realize that there's no other choice.

"Most of the picture takes place in 1973, but in the third act, you got back and forth. I've created a way where parallel action can take place, so you'll be living with the ...

‘The Sandman: Overture’ Recreates Goth Culture With A New Take On Death

Writer Neil Gaiman created goth culture in 1989 when he introduced the Death character into his seminal comic-book series "The Sandman." Or maybe goth culture created Death?

It's a little confusing on the timeline, and we'll get to why in a second. But which came first, the chicken or the Death isn't as important as the fact that 25 years later, Death — and The Sandman himself — is making her comeback in a prequel series being released by Vertigo Comics on Wednesday (October 30).

The series, titled "The Sandman: Overture," is again written by Gaiman, and drawn by critically acclaimed artist J.H. Williams III. In the book, Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, is drawn into an interstellar conflict and may cause the eventual doom of his brothers and sisters, The Endless, in the process. One of those siblings? The soft-spoken, generally cheerful Death, a far cry from the skeletal figure depicted in most media.

"I don't know how much the artists early on in the series would think of this, but I always saw [Death as] being taken off of Siouxsie Sioux, from Siouxsie and the Banshees," Williams told MTV News on the phone in anticipation of the books' release. "In some ways, Death played off of that, and turned around and influenced goth culture, and the goth look for music. There's kind of like this circle going on there."

Williams may be an extremely well-respected artist in the comic industry, having worked on everything from "Batman," to "Promethea" for Alan Moore, but taking on interpretations of some of the most beloved ...
