Katy Perry Roars In a Cheerleader Outfit For Lucky Colorado High School

How did Katy Perry celebrate her 29th birthday
on Friday morning (October 25)? Not by popping bottles and wilding out with friends in Las Vegas (that might come later), but by slipping into a cheerleader outfit and performing a five-song mini-set for some high school students in Colorado. The special appearance at Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Colorado, was seen by 2,700 students and staff and aired live on "Good Morning America." The lucky high schoolers earned the honor over four other finalists after winning a contest for the best lip dub of "Roar." Oh, and, not for nothing, but the school's mascot is a Tiger, so that worked out pretty well.

"I'm 29 and I feel great," Perry told GMA's Sam Champion. "I still feel like I'm 13 sometimes. Obviously you can tell by my music and my spirit ... I just loved all the participation and the unification ... of all you guys coming together and roaring in one shot! That was so cool!"

Their winning, elaborate one-shot contest-winning video began with a student escorting the school's mascot into the gym and then through a gauntlet of the field hockey team, the pep squad, cross country and basketball teams, as well as the debate society, ultimate Frisbee club, volleyball crew and just about every other extracurricular at the school.

Wearing a spangly Tigers cheer outfit, Perry punched, flexed, jump roped and shuffled through "Roar," telling the students, and Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, "Let me tell you how much I appreciate your ...

One Direction Premiere ‘Story Of My Life’: Hear It Now!

One Direction slowed things down on Friday (October 25) when they premiered their new single, off their upcoming album, Midnight Memories.

While they opted for a peppy lead single, to set the tone for their November 25 release, the guys went for a completely different sound for their ballad "Story of My Life," which opens with a folkie guitar arrangement and some heartbreaking lyrics.

"Written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain/ I leave my heart open but it stays right here empty for days/ She told me in the morning she don't feel the same about us in her bones/ It seems to me that when I die, these words will be written on my stone."

The song builds to the chorus, which swells with an almost tribal beat as the guys sing, "The story of my life, I take her home/ I drive all night to keep her warm/ And time is frozen (the story of, the story of)/ The story of my life, I give her hope/ I spend her love until she's broke inside/ The story of my life (the story of, the story of)."

Prior to the release, Niall Horan spoke to radio station Capital FM in the U.K. about the single, which was written with Graffiti6's Jamie Scott.

"He's written a lot with us on this album too. We were in Nottingham on tour when we were touring the U.K. back in February and March, and we just came into a room one day and he was like, ...

Lindsey Gort’s Underwear Makes Her Feel Most Like Samantha Jones

"Maybe we could be each others' soul mates and then we could let men be just these great, nice guys to have fun with."

And that, at its core, was the ethos of HBO's beloved six-season series "Sex and the City." Forget men and Manolos: What would Carrie Bradshaw be without her tight-knit group of girlfriends to lean on and learn from?

In the upcoming season-two premiere of the CW prequel "The Carrie Diaries," our protagonist will begin to assemble that gal-pal gang with the introduction of the city's swingingest single, Samantha Jones, to be played by Lindsey Gort. And though she's a much younger Samantha than the one we've come to know and love, Gort said she's just as saucy as you'd expect.

"She's already as sexually free as one could hope for in Samantha Jones," Gort said. "The biggest difference is that the fashion is different. She doesn't quite have her Manolos yet. She's like most girls in their twenties, just figuring their life out, and you know, she's trying a couple different career moves and bouncing around a little bit. She still has some walls up, a little guarded, but she's definitely a Samantha people will recognize from the Samantha people know."

Speaking of the crazy fashions, Gort explained that it's the absence of apparel that really gets her in the Samantha mindset.

"My craziest outfit would be the lack of an outfit — probably my pasties and underwear combo that I have come to know and love," she said. "I think the first time wearing it was probably my third day. ...

Linkin Park’s RECHARGED Isn’t A ‘Remix Album,’ It’s A ‘Reinterpretation’

Remixes are nothing new for Linkin Park ... "Reinterpretations" are. So that's what they're calling the songs on the upcoming RECHARGED album, a collection of dramatically re-worked tracks courtesy of Steve Aoki, Pusha T, Rick Rubin and Tom Swoon (to name just a few) that's exclusively streaming right now on MTV.com.

The new album is most definitely LP's most audacious and adventurous to date. Though, as frontman Chester Bennington explained, he and his bandmates see it as less of a reinvention, and more of a logical extension of the territory they've explored on their last two albums, A Thousand Suns and LIVING THINGS.

"I think any of our songs lend themselves well to being remixed; I think it just comes down to being inspired to do it. There were some moments on the last record, where we kind of felt like we had come full circle," he explained. "We've established this identity of being a genre-less band, and so we figured we could take that even a bit further. We decided to let other artists come in and see where their vibe comes from ... and once we started working with artists like Steve Aoki and some of these EDM guys, it felt like a natural progression."

Truth be told, that progression actually began when Linkin Park released LIVING THINGS, as they offered free remixes to fans who bought the album through their official site. After reaching out to a host of artists, they began stockpiling tracks, some of which finally see the light of day on RECHARGED.

"We were ...
