Fifty Shades’ Star Jamie Dornan Told Us He’s ‘Nervous’ Around Ladies… These Steamy Photos Prove Otherwise

A big congrats goes out to Jamie Dornan! The Irish actor has reportedly beaten out a number of Hollywood hunks to star as the lead in . His casting comes weeks after "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the project earlier this month.

The 31-year-old actor and former model is slated to star alongside Dakota Johnson as kinky billionaire Christian Grey in the big-screen adaptation of E.L. James' erotic bestseller. American viewers might know Dornan best for his role of Axel von Fersen in Sofia Coppola's 2006 film "Marie Antoinette" and his work later on ABC's "Once Upon A Time" playing the dual role of Sheriff Graham and The Huntsman. He currently stars on the BBC/Netflix thriller, "The Fall," with "X Files" star Gillian Anderson.

Back in October 2011, MTV News spoke to Dornan during the first season of "Once," where he opened up about his philosophies on love, dating and picking up women. "I've been on really bad dates," he confessed, also sharing that he doesn't have a go-to pick-up line that he uses.

"I run away. I promise you. I'm very nervous in that world. Do guys actually use [pick-up lines]?" he said. "Isn't that just in movies?"

Well, Dornan will be using some interesting lines in his new role.

Dornan, who previously dated Keira Knightley, has since married British actress/musician Amelia Warner, and they are currently expecting their first baby.

Following the abrupt departure of "Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam,

Dornan, 31, is best known to American audiences from his role as Sheriff Graham Humbert in ABC's "Once Upon a Time" and for an appearance as Axel von Fersen in Sofia Coppola's 2006 film "Marie Antoinette." He's also modeled for Calvin Klein, Armani and Christian Dior and was once part of the folk duo Sons of Jim. Universal, the studio behind "Shades," did not comment on the Variety report.

The film is due out on August 1, 2014. After a long search for the right actor to play Grey, things hit a snag earlier this month when Hunnam dropped out just a month after signing on to play the title role. Universal said at the time that the departure was due to scheduling conflicts with Hunnam's gig on "Sons of Anarchy" and the movie "Crimson Peak."

Variety also reported that despite the long list of potential Grey replacements,
, Dornan and Billy Magnussen ("As The World Turns") were the only two who tested with Johnson last Friday.

Throwback Thursday: Katy Perry Talks Thrift-Store Fashion With Miley And Taylor

It's Throwback Thursday, which means you're probably flipping through Polaroids of yourself in corduroy overalls and Keds. But here at MTV News, we're busting open our vault for vintage interviews with our favorite artists -- from way back when they were just blips on the music radar. This week, the year is 2008: Katy Perry had just kissed a girl, Taylor Swift was all-country and a brunette Miley Cyrus didn't even know what twerking meant.

It was a full five years ago that the three ladies — now royalty in the pop-music kingdom — were going head to head for Best New Artist at the Video Music Awards. (For the record, that fan-voted Moonman didn't go to any of them, but rather to Tokio Hotel.) Swift, who was co-hosting the VMA pre-show, admitted it might seem "a little awkward" to chat up her competitors about their red-carpet outfits, but promised to save the fighting until "after the cameras go off."

It was a time far before Katy Perry's Prism days, when she was still mucking through thrift stores for her wardrobes — "I don't really have a whole lot [of money]," she told Swift. But she still managed to put together a pretty award-worthy ensemble of tight shorts and a star-studded halter top — a very One of the Boys creation if you ask us.

Wearing a simple but elegant black dress, Miley looks nearly unrecognizable compared to the wild child who made a tongue-ridden entrance to this year's awards show.

What a difference five years can make

Linkin Park’s RECHARGED: Hear The Entire Album Right Now!

Linkin Park's desire for reinvention has never been a secret; ever since 2002's Reanimation — and their subsequent team up with Jay Z on Collision Course — they've been in the business of tearing things down.

But in recent years, with the release of the artful, adventurous A Thousand Suns and the equally oblique LIVING THINGS, they've only accelerated that destruction, largely abandoning their hard-riffing roots in favor of songs that explore textures and create atmospheres. That they've done so without fear of alienating their fans (or royally pissing off shareholders at the Warner Music Group) only speaks to a larger point: there truly is no other band of their stature so willing to push the boundaries, blow things up, and begin anew.

It's no surprise, then, that on the heels of LIVING THINGS, Linkin Park are set to release RECHARGED, their most adventurous — and ambitious — album to date. Featuring remixes from outsiders like Steve Aoki, Tom Swoon and Dirtyphonics — and re-workings of tracks by Mike Shinoda and LIVING THINGS producer Rick Rubin — it represents a near complete reimagining of the Linkin Park universe; and unlike Reanimation, the changes are more than cosmetic.

To wit, while there are no tracks with titles like "Kyur4 th Ich" or "P5hng Me A*wy" on RECHARGED, there are endless moments that take Linkin Park's signature sonics to the brink and back. Frontman Chester Bennington's yowls are smashed together with knotty, gnarly electro on KillSonik's walloping remix of "Lost in the Echo," rapper Pusha T contributes a biting verse to a ...

J.Cole Returns To Queens Crib For MTV ‘Life & Rhymes’ Special

With his sophomore album Born Sinner already certified gold, J. Cole isn't scrambling to pay his bills these days, but the struggle isn't too far in the rearview mirror for the Roc Nation rapper. In tonight's MTV special, "Life & Rhymes: J.Cole," which debuts at 7:54 p.m. ET, he's taking fans back to a previous life to dissect some of his current lyrics.

The North Carolina native will bring viewers to the apartment he lived in during and after his graduation St. John's University in Queens, New York, a location he frequently mentions in "Crooked Smile."

"We shot it crazy in Queens," he explained of the special on earlier this year. "We went back to Mohammed's crib--I talk about Mohammed's crib in 'Power Trip' and some of these other songs, because that was my last place in college."

"My senior year of college, and then the 'broke struggle period' of barely surviving and floating I was there. This man let me stack up my rent to the ceiling--thousands upon thousands [of dollars] that I owe for this crib. So went back to this crib, shot scenes there , talked about all about the song 'Crooked Smile' and all about how I made the song, because it really a journey to make that song."

Tune into MTV now to catch "Life & Rhymes: J.Cole."

Kanye And Kim’s Engagement: The First Footage Surfaces

Given that there were approximately 56,989 cameras on site (reality TV don't make itself!) it's odd that the first footage of Kanye West's epic proposal to Kim Kardashian comes from someone who looks like they were filming from the visitor's dugout at AT&T Park.

Yes, TMZ obtained video shot during on Monday night in San Francisco, when West popped the question to KK with the help of a 50-piece orchestra, a scoreboard, plenty of pyro, oh, yeah, and an engagement ring worth millions of dollars. And though the footage is blurry, it also reveals plenty.

Like, for example, the fact that Kanye got down on one knee in the infield — right around second base, for those scoring at home — when asking for Kim's hand in marriage, with the orchestra playing behind them in shallow center. Kardashian holds both hands to her face while he's doing it, and after presumably saying "Yes," the two embrace, while family and friends flock out of both dugouts to join them in celebration.

From the looks of things, the Kardashian Klan was representing in full — we can see Rob, Khloe and mom Kris! — as was Jaden Smith, who runs around in right field, freaking out for reasons apparent only to him (this seems to be his default reaction to everything these days).

Later on, we can see KimYe posing for pictures — while West ...

Will Rick Ross Team Up With Lorde? We Asked Him

Lorde may be smarting a bit today after her surprising hit "Royals" was knocked down to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 — courtesy of Eminem's "Rap God" — but she can take solace in the fact that a real-life rap god Rick Ross has churned out a remix of her hit. Oh, and he probably wouldn't mind collaborating with her, either.

In a conversation with MTV's Sway Calloway, Ross said that he chose to remix the New Zealand teen's song because "it was just a dope record," he said. "Hopefully, that's what she get from it coming from Rozay," he added.

Ross put his own spin on the jam, notably injecting his label's signature tagline, "Maybach Music," as voiced by model Jessica Gomes -- it's a spin on the Lorde lyric, "But everybody's like cristal, maybach, diamonds on your ten piece," which references the luxury car manufacturer.

He also moneys-up the anti-consumerist jam at bit, rapping over the Joel Little beat: "She wanna watch 'Scandal,' I wanna count a handful/Dead presidents sleep in the attic of the mansion."

"Royals" has had its share of remixes and covers over the last few months, including a fresh iteration from The Weeknd.

Ross has his hands full at present, readying for the release of his sixth studio album, Mastermind, in December, but we reckon a collaboration could be in the cards for these two. When Sway asked Ross if a pair-up is possible, the rapper answered cagily, "You never know." Yes, but we can certainly dream.
