Eminem’s Thank You Call To ‘Rap God’ Producer Made His ‘Knees Get Weak’

Eminem's may have just came out last week, but for producer DVLP, the track has been two years in the making.

"I was just trying to do whatever makes me happy. I never really make tracks with artists in mind," the New York beatsmith told MTV News on Monday of the track that he co-produced with his partner Filthy.

DVLP has logged in work with the Diplomats, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne; but when DVLP's manager Stephen Hacker began shopping around "Rap God," there were artists other the running.

"Before it got to Em, it was talked about for like T.I. — I don't know who else, maybe Fab or something. Even when they said those names, it was like, that's not really where I hear this record going. It's not that kind of record," he said. "Thankfully everything worked out where it made its way over to the Shady side."

The instrumental went to the "Shady side" last fall, DVLP estimated. While the producer spends most of his time in the studio, he wasn't around while Em was crafting the record, which will appear on November 5's The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Like the rest of us, DVLP heard the heard the finished product on October 14. It has since hit #1 on Billboard Digital Songs chart.

DVLP remembers being sick with the flu on the day the song dropped and couldn't quite bring himself to listen, but then he got a call from Eminem. "I still didn't even hear the record, so I don't know how that looks to ...

We Tasted Ron Burgundy’s Scotchy Scotch Scotch: Here’s The Scoop!

This just in from San Diego's Channel 4 News team: Ben & Jerry's has launched a limited-batch, "Anchorman 2"-themed ice cream flavor named "Ron Burgundy's Scotchy Scotch Scotch."

All together now: Great Odin's raven!

The new concoction is an ode to the newscaster's favorite spirit, featuring a butterscotch ice cream base swirled with a crunchy butterscotch ribbon of flavor.

"Scotchy Scotch Scotch is a delicious ice cream and I hope Ben and Jerry consider my other suggestions," Ron Burgundy said in a statement. "Malt liquor marshmallow, well liquor bourbon peanut butter, and cheap white wine sherbet."

While we contemplate those other tempting tongue-teasers, the folks at Ben & Jerry's were kind enough to send over samples of Scotchy Scotch Scotch for the MTV News staff to taste test. Here are the reviews:

"I love this ice cream? Damnit. Who put a question mark on the teleprompter?" — India Nicholas

"In the words of the immortal Ron Burgundy himself, 'I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly...' Find this flavor wherever you can. Then hoard it. You might be a little antsy from all the sugar, but you won't be sorry." — Jonathan Goldner

"It's no Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream, but it's a close second for the best ice cream flavor based on a fictional newscaster." — Kevin P. Sullivan

"I ate a big red candle." — Josh Horowitz

"My only regret is that it did not feature whiskey." — Brenna Ehrlich

"While I found it delicious and nutritious, I'm predisposed to praise anything "Anchorman"-related. Probably would have loved ...

‘Allegiant’ Author Veronica Roth Tries Not To Imagine Shailene Woodley, Theo James Making Out

Veronica Roth is having the kind of year most authors can only dream of. In addition to her debut novel, going into production with rising stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James cast as leads, Roth is wrapping up the trilogy that captured the publishing (and film) industry's attention with Tuesday's publication of "Allegiant."

Set in a near-future Chicago, the "Divergent" series tells the story of a civilization divided into five factions, each representing a different virtue: Abnegation (selflessness), Erudite (intelligence), Dauntless (bravery), Amity (peacefulness) and Candor (honesty). Teens are tested at 16 years old to determine which faction they will call their own. Our protagonist here is Beatrice "Tris" Prior, who leaves her Abnegation family to join up with the dangerous Dauntless — despite receiving inconclusive test results. In Tris' world, to be different is to be dangerous, and there are many who will try to take her down.

Following a cliff-hanger ending in Roth's second novel, "Insurgent," fans have been not-so-patiently waiting to learn the fate of Tris and her hunky love interest Four (otherwise known as Tobias). And with "Allegiant" now in readers' hot little hands, Roth is feeling all kinds of things.

"It's a really huge mix of emotions," she told MTV News' Josh Horowitz on publication day. "I'm nervous. I'm like, how are people going to react to this? I'm also really excited, but it's also really bittersweet to close out the trilogy. It's been a couple years of my life. It's been a huge part of my life and changed everything, and to have ...

Chloe Grace Moretz Wants To Capture Feeling Of Young Love In ‘If I Stay’

It's not hyperbole to say 17-year-old Mia Hall faces a life-or-death decision in Gayle Forman's 2009 novel "If I Stay." To wit, following a tragic car accident that claims the lives of her entire family and leaves her in a coma, Mia must decide whether to live or die. (Heady stuff, indeed.)

A big-screen adaptation has been in the works since Summit Entertainment optioned the young-adult tome in 2009, with Catherine Hardwicke originally slated to direct and Dakota Fanning set to star. The project eventually changed hands, landing at MGM with new director R.J. Cutler and lead Chloe Grace Moretz.

With Moretz in place, the search for her character's rock-n-roll love interest, Adam, began in earnest. "Snow White and the Huntsman" actor Jamie Blackley eventually landed the role.

Moretz recently stopped by MTV News and explained how Blackley charmed producers.

"It was so great. He just totally shined. We did an audition process with four to five boys," she recalled. "I don't know, just the way he walked in and the way he did the scene. He was just Adam. He's sexy and funny and sweet, and you can tell he's this rocker guy and at the same time he's got a heart. You're just like, 'Oh Jamie.' And he has an accent, even though he's not going to have an accent in the movie, but girls love accents. I'm like, 'Hey, you wanna read me a book? You want to sing a song for me?' "

Production begins in the coming weeks, and Moretz has been busy prepping for the role of ...

Eminem’s ‘God’ Stops Lorde’s Chart Reign

It took a
to stop a pop ruler on the Billboard Digital Songs chart.

After running the board for several weeks (while topping
the Billboard Hot 100 tally), "Royals" by New Zealand's Lorde fell to #2 (256,000), taking a back seat to the third promotional track to be released from Eminem's upcoming The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

Pearl Jam Score Lucky #5
