Katy Perry’s Prism Inspired By Witches And Tacos?

As if Prism wasn't enough for her Katy Cats, Katy Perry treated fans to an impromptu Twitter Q&A in the hour leading up to the album's official Tuesday (October 22) release, answering questions about the tour and some key tracks.

Besides revealing that she shot her "Unconditionally" video in London last week, she gave fans a quick timeline of the writing process, writing, "I wrote and recorded the first song back 'By the Grace of God' Nov, 2012. Most of the record was written spring 2013." Then, she spilled on just what exactly Prism is all about: "self reflection, love & light..."

Perry said she loves all her albums, but "this one is SHINING!!!" and that it "represents so many different sides" of her. When it came time to explain why emotional power-ballad "Unconditionally" is her next single, she had just the right answer:

Continuing, she tweeted, "Dark Horse" is "like someone falling in love with a witch! Influenced by the movie The Craft!" and then reminisced about her inspiration for up-beat party anthem "This is How We Do."

Following the release of her last album, Teenage Dream, Perry embarked on a world tour, and while she didn't reveal too many details about what's ahead — even though she has a "few great ideas" for a tour name — she did, however, say this:

Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city: How K-Dot Found The Recipe For One Monstrous Year

There was an instant buzz surrounding Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city when it dropped a year ago on October 22, 2012. The LP, like most LPs in this digital age, had leaked a few days prior, and fans gobbled up individual tracks like the Drake-assisted "Poetic Justice."

The magnitude of the first coming-of-age story however, would grow over time. There were early whispers that Kendrick had crafted a classic album and now 365-days later, there is little to no doubt about good kid, m.A.A.d city's greatness.

The album works best when it is digested as a whole; try to separate the singles from the body and you may miss key vignettes centered around the temptress Sherane, or the homeys L Boogs, Lucky and Yan Yan.

It was July 2011, while he was out promoting his independent LP Section.80 when Kendrick first referenced good kid, m.A.A.d city to MTV News. It was a passing mention that went over the heads of most. He wasn't directly talking about the album at the time, but rather, his newly formed relationship with GKMC executive producer Dr. Dre.

"As far as the music we got a chemistry in the studio that's unmatched to me, alongside the music, we just talk about stuff, talk about life in general, because it's a side of Dre that the world's never seen before," he said. "It's really my story and my life which I'm putting out in my music. I think that's why we clash together so perfect because he sees a good kid, in a mad city, the ...

‘Fifty Shades’ Fallout: Charlie Hunnam Opens Up After Christian Grey Exit

Since Charlie Hunnam dropped out of "Fifty Shades of Grey" earlier this month, there's been a lot of speculation about who might fill in for him in the role of Christian Grey. But, that doesn't seem to be Hunnam's concern.

The "Sons of Anarchy" actor is opening up about what's next for him now that he's no longer tied up with .

"So when I wrap the show, I am going to go to England and see my people and then I have a film that I am doing with ['Pacific Rim' director] Guillermo [del Toro called 'Crimson Peak']. So I am going to go and do that and concentrate on the final seasons of 'Sons,' " he told E! News.

He added that his focus will be on the del Toro project as well as finishing up his FX series. "It's obviously going to be a really emotional time for us," he said. "We are like a family and have become very, very close and become dear friends to each other so it's going to be sad and finish up and say goodbye to everyone, but we've got like 13, maybe even a few more, episodes."

He added, "There's rumor that we might do a couple of more episodes and do a little bit of an extended season next year, so we will see if that happens. It may or it may not. But I just want to finish that strong and go on to a new chapter of life."

With Hunnam looking to his own slate of ...

‘Catching Fire’ Soundtrack Exclusive: Listen To Of Monsters And Men’s New Song

Of Monsters and Men may have never been cast into a brutal arena and forced to fight for their lives — but they have been on tour. And according to band member Ragnar þórhallsson, the band was able to draw on that experience to pen their contribution to "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" soundtrack, "Silhouettes." A preview of that track premieres exclusively Tuesday (October 22) on MTV News.

"We had been traveling for a long time and away from our family and doing something we had never done before, so that was kind of how we related to the story," þórhallsson told MTV News. "So this is all based on our experience."

Although they are fans of the "Hunger Games" series, the band chose to write "Silhouettes" not to match any specific scene in the book/film, but more the overall feeling of the second tome in the series, in which Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are cast back into the Hunger Games arena to fight against former victors in the midst of a burgeoning revolution.

"I think that's stronger than digging into and dissecting the book and writing a song about one scene or something," þórhallsson said. "It's more about the feeling of the whole story."

A bittersweet song that's delicacy hides a kind of throbbing tension, it's easy to see how the tune could fit into the film — or serve as the inner monologue running through Katniss's head as she recalls all the people she has lost in her dystopian world: "A thousand silhouettes/ Dancing on my chest/ No matter where ...

‘The Voice’ Leaves Cee Lo Green With The Last Steal

The battles continued on last night as coaches pitted contestants against each other for a coveted slot on their team.

Coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green had a tough time selecting the cream of the crop with such stiff competition. But the decisions had to be made, some which proved surprising.

Words Are Hard
Kicking off the night was Team Christina's pop rocker Josh Logan and Latin-influenced Michael Lynch who took on Maroon 5's "Harder to Breathe." The wordy song proved tough for both contestants who struggled with lyrics during rehearsals. When it came time to hit the stage, though, both were ready for battle with Logan taking the laid-back approach and Lynch just trying to keep up. Green enjoyed their "confidence" but Adam Levine, whose song it was, gave the battle to Logan. Xtina agreed and gave the competition to Logan.

Miss Congeniality
Returning singer George Horga Jr. and 16 year-old Juhi repped Team Cee Lo, duetting to Gavin DeGraw's "The Best I Ever Had." Juhi (a.k.a. Juju) had an indie style all her own but guest mentor Miguel said she needed to enunciate; George exuded pop presence but lacked personality. When the battle began, both put their raw talent on the line. The coaches sang praises for Juju with Shelton saying, "there's something that really jumps out at me," and Xtina noting her interesting "vibrato." But in a surprise move, Green chose Horga Jr., for his resilience in returning for a third time, leaving Juhi heartbroken. Levine didn't let the ...
