Zedd And Hayley Williams Haven’t Met, But Made ‘Stay The Night’

Back in 2010, Paramore's Hayley Williams made a departure from her punk-y path when she teamed up with B.o.B. on a song that become a massive hit ... despite the fact the two collaborators never actually met until the night before they performed the track for the first time.

Three years later, Williams is taking a similar detour, joining forces with rising EDM star Zedd on his new single "Stay The Night." And though this song definitely isn't "Airplanes," turns out, it was created in much the manner: without either artist being in the same room.

"The only time we've had a chance to talk was before we recorded the song; we did not get to actually meet yet," Zedd told MTV News. "I'm sure it will happen; hopefully we'll play a show together and perform it. Our schedules are obviously pretty busy."

Still, that doesn't mean the two were strangers. Zedd has been a fan of Paramore — and Williams' voice — for nearly a decade, ever since he began playing in the German rock act Dioramic. And once he had written "Stay The Night," he knew she would be a perfect match for the track.

"We had the topline written and we needed a singer, and we were kind of brainstorming on who would be a good fit; at first we thought it might be better to have a male singer," Zedd explained. "But then, since I know Hayley's voice, we had the idea to use her for the track ... I kind of think ...

Miley Cyrus Heading To ‘Saturday Night Live’ As Host, Performer

Miley Cyrus really can't be stopped. The "We Can't Stop" singer has confirmed that she will appear as both the host and musical guest during the October 5 episode of "Saturday Night Live." Another pop princess, Katy Perry, will also stop by the show later this season.

The appearance comes just days before Cyrus will drop her upcoming album, Bangerz, which will hit stores October 8. Cyrus previously hosted "SNL" back in 2011. On Monday (September 9), the same day the news broke, the singer dropped a new music video for her latest Bangerz single, The video, in which Miley cries and appears naked on a — you guessed it — wrecking ball, was shot by famed photographer Terry Richardson.

Another big name slated to drop by Studio 8H this season is former "SNL" star Tina Fey, who will host the September 28 season premiere (Arcade Fire are set to play that episode). Meanwhile, one week after Cyrus plays double duty, Bruce Willis will host the October 12 episode, joined by "Roar" singer Perry as the night's musical guest, "SNL" confirmed on Twitter. Perry will release her new album, Prism, on October 22.

Additional performers and hosts have yet to be announced. However, with those hosts and performers locked in, rumor has it that Lady Gaga may also serve as a host and performer at some point this season. "SNL" has yet to confirm the Mother Monster's appearance on the show.

Arcade Fire Cast You In Interactive ‘Reflektor’ Video

Arcade Fire are heralding the Monday (September 9) release of their new single and video for "Reflektor" with an interactive mini-film created in partnership with Google Creative Lab.

The single "Reflektor" is set to premiere Monday night at 9 p.m., the release coming on the heels of an elaborate, long-tail campaign replete with twists and turns: spray-painted tags featuring the single's title popping up around the globe, a mysterious Instagram account documenting said tags, and, finally, the news that the Anton Corbijn-directed video would drop on 9/9 at 9 p.m.

Sadly, part of the fun was spoiled this past weekend when the song, featuring David Bowie himself, leaked. However, the band proved that they still had some secrets up their sleeves when an interactive accompaniment to the song — directed by Vincent Morisset and created by Google Creative Lab — dropped Monday.

"Just a Reflektor," according to the official description, was filmed in Haiti and tells the tale of a woman who travels between our world and hers. If that sounds obtuse, that's because it is — the narrative and interactive elements intersect to create an experience that's both dizzying and immersive.

After navigating to the experience via a Google Chrome browser, users will be asked to go to a dedicated site via their smartphone, punch in a code and hold up their device to the webcam as the video begins to play. Your phone will dictate what you see on the screen and, at one point, will find you reflected in a ...

The Wanted Push Back <i>Word Of Mouth</i> Release

TWFanmily, you might want to brace yourselves: Even though the Wanted's third studio album, Word of Mouth, was previously slated to drop in September, the boys have announced, via a video message to fans, that the disc has been pushed back to November 4.

After reassuring fans that they have been hard at work on Word of Mouth, the band's Tom Parker said forlornly, "Unfortunately, and this is where the bad news comes in, guys ... unfortunately the album date for Word of Mouth has to go back to the fourth of November as our worldwide date."

Nathan Sykes quickly jumped in to assure fans that they won't be left empty-handed or, rather, -earred, this month. "We hear your frustrations and we see on Twitter and online that you're being so patient and to say thank you we want to give you a brand-new single," he said. "You can hear our brand-new song 'Show Me Love' on all your favorite radio stations from tomorrow morning."

The band then tweeted an image of the blinged-out album cover.

We've already heard singles like the stripped-down and the anthemic from the upcoming record.

"They had a bunch of records that wasn't them and now we have the album that we feel like is them," their manager Scooter Braun recently told MTV News. We'll just have to wait and see how "Show Me Love" fits into that equation when it drops Tuesday (September 10) morning.

Eminem Ropes In Detroit Homey Kid Rock For ‘Berzerk’ Video

Eminem and Kid Rock have repped hard for their hometown of Detroit for years. But other than a Slim Shady cameo on the 1998 song "F--- Off" from Rocks' breakthrough Devil Without a Cause album (just before Em blew up solo), the pair have almost exclusively flown their D-Town pride from frinedly, but neutral corners, rarely appearing or performing together.

That's all changed in the official video for "Berzerk," the first single
from Slim Shady's highly anticipated upcoming The Marshall Mathers LP 2
.

We got a teaser look at the clip on Saturday night
during Marshall's unexpected drop-in at ESPN's College Football Prime Time, but on Monday (September 9), the full video dropped and it had plenty more surprises in store.

A kind of mash-up of Beastie Boy visual call-backs, "Jackass" and "Bum Fights"-style snippets and cameos from some of Em's pals, the finished product definitely finds Slim Shady back in his playful old groove. As we saw in the teaser, the opening mimics the blue screen from an old-school VHS tape, before cutting to Em's hand putting down a giant boombox with the word "Beats" scrawled on the cassette carriage.

As the camera pans out, we see a two story master blaster that towers over Shady (in white t-shirt, khakis and his signature bleach blonde hair) and super-producer Rick Rubin (in all black and barefoot) approaching the fish eye lens.

A smash cut shows the rapper in a T-shirt featuring Run-DMC and the Beastie Boys, the first groups to use the hard rock-meets-rap sound that Rubin pioneered with Def Jam ...

Kate Winslet’s ‘Divergent’ Role: ‘I Wanted My Kids To Think I Was Cool’

Academy Award-winner Kate Winslet is entering new territory with her role in the dystopian drama — namely, Franchiseland. But don't use the "f word" around the 37-year-old actress.

"It's funny. I think I'm developing a kind of subconscious loathing of the word 'franchise,' " she told MTV News' Josh Horowitz while promoting her movie "Labor Day" at the Toronto International Film Festival. "I just think of something that's packaged, something you can buy on a shelf and is immediately disposable. I don't know. It's a really weird word for me."

Winslet's distaste for the term, however, didn't stop her from accepting the role of Jeanine Matthews in the film based on Veronica Roth's best-selling novel, which takes place in a society divided into five factions, each representing a different virtue.

"I didn't have any hesitation at all," she said of her role in what could be a three-part series. "It was such a great script. It's a fantastic book."

In fact, her part in the project has already earned Winslet a modicum of cool cred with her kids.

"My daughter is going to be 13, and my son is almost 10, and they're getting to that age where this is the type of literature they're going to be reading very soon," she explained. "In fact, my daughter, two days ago, came home from school and went, 'Mom! You're never going to believe it. Rufus came up to me at school and said, 'Is your mom really in 'Divergent'? Is there going to be a premiere? Can you get me a ticket?' ' ...

Miley Cyrus Strips Down (In More Ways Than One) With ‘Wrecking Ball’ Video

In Miley Cyrus's new "Wrecking Ball" video, she suggestively licks a sledgehammer and writhes nude atop a wrecking ball ... two scenes that, in any other context, certainly would rank right up there on the scandalous scale.

Then again, this is Miley, and fresh off her twerk-tastic VMA performance, she's seemingly lost the ability to shock us with her antics. So, in a bizarre twist, it's somewhat fitting the most jaw-dropping moment of her new video is also the most straightforward: the opening scene when a fresh-faced Cyrus stares directly into the camera, a single tear tracing its way down her face, and just sings.

It's an image that calls to mind Sinead O'Connor's iconic video, and it's starting in its simplicity. For all that's been made of Miley's VMA moment — and her unrepentant attitude in the aftermath — we sometimes forget that she is still; a) just 20 years old (though perhaps that's the point), and b) capable of genuine emotions.

Here, both of those things are readily apparent, and stripped of everything salacious, we are left with the reminder that Miley is actually a very capable performer, the kind of singer skilled enought to tackle emotive songs like Bob Dylan's "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" or

Of course, most folks will miss that point, and instead focus on the scenes where she strides around in her underwear, tongues tools and takes a naked ride on a wrecking ball. That's to be expected, given the sheer amount of media attention ...
