Ariana Grande Invites You Back To The ’90s In ‘Baby I’ Video

Ariana Grande is throwing a '90s block party, and you're invited!

On Friday (September 6), the former Nickelodeon star released the fun and flirty video for that takes a page straight out of the '90s, from the overalls to the graphic T's and mismatched prints. All they missed were the snap bracelets!

The video follows Grande and her crew shutting down the block as she rocks a pair of short shorts and a midriff-baring top, reminiscent of Mariah Carey's ensemble in the 1995 "Fantasy" video.

Grande, who promised the clip would make her fans smile, tosses her signature locks and sings sweetly to the camera as she takes her party from the streets to the rooftop to the bus. Eventually, Grande trades in the short shorts for overalls and the sky-high heels for sneakers, as she shows off her adorable running man moves flanked by her back-up dancers. Eventually Grande makes her way back to the house party, which is complete with inflatable microphones and boom boxes.

"Baby I" is the latest single off Yours Truly, which was released this week, and follows her massive hit and featuring The Wanted's Nathan Sykes.

Even though she was only born in 1993, Grande has made it no secret that she's been channeling '90s R&B on her album, and on "Baby I" in particular.

"I love that. It felt like '90s, Aaliyah, Destiny's Child. I like that it has that throwback feeling to it," she told MTV News in July about the track. "And that's when I grew up ...

Katy Perry Was ‘Game For Anything’ On ‘Roar’ Video … Even Face Tarantulas

Katy Perry may reign as Queen of the Jungle in her new video, but according to directors Grady Hall and Mark Kudsi, she was more than willing to step down off the throne ... almost too willing.

"She was game for anything. We'd say to her 'Alright what about tarantulas?' and she'd perk up, say 'Hey I can put one on my face!'" Hall laughed. "The vine swinging, getting up there in the trees, standing on top of a water fall, there was no hesitation."

"It was amazing, she jumped at the opportunities and loved it," Kudsi added. "It was great; after the first time we threw out some ideas to her, we got a sense she was game and we tried to up it, and there wasn't one thing she said 'No' to."

And for the directors, both members of the Motion Theory collective, that made "Roar" extra challenging ... they knew their star was willing to push the boundaries, which meant they had to go as big as possible. Beginning with the video's singular concept.

"It was simple; we started with the idea of 'Katy Perry: Queen of the Jungle,' and that just lit a fire," Hall said. "From that first sentence everyone was like 'Of course!' And then we went from there, thinking of things like 'What's the biggest way to roar? We started using words like 'Glamazon.' We sort of invented our own language for it."

"We jumped in to older pulp-type movies, like 'Sheena, Queen of the Jungle,' Bettie Page pinups, but at the same ...

Katy Perry’s ‘Simple’ Prism Album Art: Do Fans Like It?

It's a big week for the Katy Cats. In addition to unleashing her video for "Roar" on Thursday, Katy Perry revealed her lo-fi album cover for Prism on Friday (September 6).

And whereas she's opted for high-concept covers in the past, the Prism image is of just Perry's face, wearing little to no makeup, standing in the glow of the sun.

One fan, Marie from Connecticut, told MTV News about the image for the October 22 release, "I absolutely love that about her. It's like finally she's like unlayering herself and showing us more sides of her and I really love the no makeup thing because, honestly, it's extremely beautiful."

"I liked it compared to the ['Roar'] video," Chris from New York added. "It's not as like colorful and vibrant, but it relates to the concept of Prism and letting light in and she's gonna burst it out on all her fans."

It's a major change in tone for the colorful "Roar" singer. For 2010's Teenage Dream cover, Perry opted for candy chic, appearing naked covered up by cotton-candy pink clouds. And for her previous effort, 2008's One Of The Boys, Katy paid homage to vintage pin-up girls while lounging in a garden and listening to some old records.

"I loved it so much because I don't know, it was just very different from like Teenage Dream when she's just posing like at the camera," Marie added. "I think it's so beautiful and really different and she works it."

This time, it's just Katy, and she's not playing ...

Are Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Days Over? We Asked!

If Hugh Jackman's tenure as Wolverine is coming to a close, then the actor is making sure he goes out with a bang. Next summer, Jackman will follow up 2013's "The Wolverine" with "X-Men: Days of Future Past" — a film that reunites the star with director Bryan Singer and the rest of the original X-Cast, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry and Anna Paquin.

The film marks Jackman's fifth outing as the hirsute hero — sixth if you count his memorable three-word cameo in 2011's "X-Men: First Class" — and the fact that this new film could be Wolverine's swansong was not lost on the actor.

"It may be the last," Jackman told MTV News' Josh Horowitz while promoting "Prisoners" at the Toronto International Film Festival. "By the way, it didn't hit me until three weeks before the end [of shooting 'X-Men: Days of Future Past], because we promoted 'The Wolverine' and I came back on set with three weeks to go, and that's when I went, 'Well, who knows? Maybe there's no more Wolverine. Maybe this is it. Who knows? Maybe.' So I really made the most of those last few weeks. I enjoyed every time I put the claws on."

This film also marks the quickest turnaround Jackman has made between X-films. With "The Wolverine" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past" coming right on top of each other, Jackman promised that the events of 2013's solo film will have ramifications for the next big X-Men epic.

"Definitely. Even more, I think, than in 'X-Men 3,' where he was reluctantly ...

Kanye West Hitting The Road With Kendrick Lamar For Yeezus Tour

Kanye West is ready to take his show on the road. On Friday (September 6) 'Ye created quite the stir when he tweeted a promotion pic for his upcoming Yeezus Tour.

It's his first solo run since 2008's Glow in the Dark Tour. (On his last tour Yeezy shared the bill with Jay Z to promote their 2011 album Watch the Throne. ) The seven-week, 23-city North American run will also feature Kendrick Lamar. It all starts on October 19 at the KeyArena in Seattle, Washington and end on December 7 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Tickets will go on sale September 13.

West made waves earlier this year when he dropped his now gold-selling Yeezus album. The 10-track LP disregarded tradition as Kanye embarked on a mission with new sounds and new rules, even before Jay Z made it a hashtag. There was no lead-up single, and West premiered the clip for "New Slaves" on the sides of buildings in various cities across the country.

There was no album art, and the physical CD simply came in a clear jewel casing; then of course there were the sonic components. Yeezus, with all of its buzzing bass and electro bleeps and blips made it stand out from every album in Kanye's catalog — or for that matter, any hip-hop album ever recorded. The innovation was intriguing to Kendrick, who dropped his critically acclaimed debut good kid, m.A.A.d city late last year.

"It was hard for me to grasp it on the first take," K-Dot told MTV News in June, ...

Hugh Jackman Weighs In On ‘Tough Guy’ Ben Affleck As Batman

If anyone's an authority on bringing comic book superheroes to life, it's Hugh Jackman. With six appearances as Wolverine — Marvel's most ferocious mutant — Jackman was partially responsible for bringing about the modern comic book film Renaissance with 2000's "X-Men." And after more than a decade in the comic book biz, the actor knows a hero when he sees one. So we had to ask him to weigh in on fellow actor Ben Affleck, who's about to answer the call of the bat signal.

"He's a tough guy," Jackman told MTV News' Josh Horowitz while promoting his new film "Prisoners" at the Toronto International Film Festival. "He's a Boston kid, right? He's a tough guy."

Affleck became the center of a comic book controversy when he was made the heir to Batman's cape and cowl in 2015's Superman/Batman team-up movie. Seemingly everyone from celebrities to die-hard Batman fans made their opinions known via Twitter, with many of them being less than kind. But Jackman said there's no need to worry.

"I think Ben is a great actor," Jackman explained. "I think he's been underrated for a long time. He's obviously a great director. He's a very smart guy. That guy doesn't make decisions that aren't well thought out, that aren't great."

To the haters, Jackman hinted that their criticisms won't so much deter Affleck from doing his best work — they're just adding more fuel to the fire. "I think probably, deep down, he doesn't mind taking on something that's a little controversial."

Affleck has his work cut out for ...

Katy Perry Premieres Prism In New York: Here’s Our Take!

Katy Perry made sure everything was polished to perfection on Thursday night, as she previewed her upcoming Prism album to members of the New York media ... except, oddly enough, the songs themselves.

"Some of these are still rough mixes," she told the crowd. "Very rough mixes."

Of course, it's not like you could tell. Because from the venue (an artfully minimal event space in the Financial District) to the victuals (canapés galore), this was a very slick event, a trend that more than carried over to the music itself. Sure, Katy played just 10 of Prism's 13 tracks — the deluxe edition features 16, she informed us — but based on what we heard, it seems that her new album is destined to pick up where her last left off.

In fact, it doesn't seem as if she's strayed very far from her Teenage Dream formula, at least sonically (and really, why would she?) Like she told MTV News last month, there's really no darkness on Prism ... instead, the new songs are voluminous, playful, packed with hooks and brimming with studio shine.

"Birthday," which Perry described as her attempt at writing "something Mariah Carey would have put on her first record," is an upbeat jam that features her cooing "let me get you in your birthday suit," and ends with her coyly whispering "Happy birthday." The roller-skating jam "Walking On Air" — she actually wrote it after watching skaters in Central Park — pumps and struts on an actual Deep House groove, like something lifted from a Crystal Waters track, ...
