Daniel Radcliffe In ‘Kill Your Darlings’: Watch The Trailer Now!

For 10 years, Daniel Radcliffe ran through the halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy with a tight-knit group of friends, but he's running with a very different crowd in "Kill Your Darlings," as we can see in the first official trailer, which just premiered at Yahoo! Movies.

In his first role as an American, Radcliffe plays Allen Ginsberg, one of the leading icons of the Beat Generation and a member of a literary crew — including Lucien Carr, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs — that ran around Manhattan's Upper West Side, challenging the poetic form and occasionally killing people.

"Kill Your Darlings" tells the true-life story of Ginsberg's and Carr's meeting, their relationship — which, as many breathless Sundance dispatches noted, becomes physical — and the murder of David Kammerer ("Dexter" star Michael C. Hall).

While the story might seem like a historical fiction spun out of the lives of several prominent literary figures, the history behind "Kill Your Darlings" is very much based on true events, circumstances that played a major role in many of the works produced by the group in the years afterward. It's worth reading up on — if you don't mind spoilers.

Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan, who plays Lucien Carr, earned raves across the board when "Kill Your Darlings" premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival. The film, director and co-writer John Krokidas' feature debut, is now set for a showing next week at the Toronto International Film Festival, before opening to the general public on October 16.

Demi Lovato Wants Kissing Naya Rivera On ‘Glee’ To Be ‘Inspiring,’ Not ‘Crazy’

Naya Rivera is bringing Demi Lovato to the "dark side" on "Glee," and the "Heart Attack" singer couldn't be more excited about it.

Lovato will appear in at least six episodes in the upcoming season of "Glee" playing the role of Dani, a New York friend of Lea Michele's character, Rachel, who falls for Rivera's character, Santana.

"The X Factor" judge called into Ryan Seacrest's radio show on Wednesday (September 4) to talk about her time on set — a "giant hangout environment" since she's been longtime friends with some of the cast. She also explained how proud she is to be representing the LGBT community on the hit Fox series.

"What I want people to take away from this isn't, 'Oh my god, Demi is kissing a girl, like this is crazy' or whatever; I want people to take from it [that] this is actually an incredible step in our generation today where I'm able to play a young lesbian on prime time TV," said Lovato, who guests on the show alongside Adam Lambert. "It's becoming the norm and I'm honored to be able to be hopefully inspiring people with my character to be who they are and not be afraid or ashamed."

Lovato shot her first episode last week with Rivera, giving Gleeks their first look at the two together after posting a picture on Instagram.

"I mean, she's playing my love interest, so I'm very, very excited about that," Rivera told MTV News at the 2013 Video Music Awards. "We get to sing a song ...

Lady Gaga’s Monsters Beg Her For ‘Sex Dreams’

Lady Gaga is going democratic for the release of her second single off of her upcoming ARTPOP album, asking fans to weigh in via Twitter and Facebook and choose which of four jams will be released to the masses next.

On Sunday (September 1), Lady Gaga unveiled seven songs from ARTPOP at the iTunes Festival in London, including her first single, "Applause," which the world has already heard and seen via the music video and her performance at the 2013 Video Music Awards.

Late last night (September 3), Gaga took to Twitter and Facebook to poll her fans post-iTunes fest, asking: "OK MONSTERS! Now that you've seen some of ARTPOP Live, what would be YOUR pick for 2nd Single?" Gaga is letting fans choose between "MANiCURE," a rock 'n' roll update of "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair"; "Sex Dreams," a sweaty, sultry jam about touching oneself; "Swine," Gaga's Nine Inch Nails-esque, industrial rocker; and "Aura," a growling, exotic, dark tune with an edge of violence.

On Twitter, Gaga asked fans to vote via RTs and favorites. Currently, "Sex Dreams" is in the lead with nearly 30,000 votes, followed by "Swine" with around 20,000, then "Aura" with around 19,000 and "MANiCURE" with nearly 17,000. Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus Get Major Post-VMAs Sales Boost

The 2013 VMAs were very, very good to the ladies. In the first full week of sales reporting since the August 25 blowout, hitmaking headline-grabbers Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus all had great weeks on the Billboard Digital Songs chart.

The VMA Bump
In addition to closing out the show with a knockout performance, Perry locked down the #1 spot on the Digital chart with "Roar," which sold 448,000 copies as sales went up by 14 percent.

Though he was part of the tongue-wagging, history-making moment that was Cyrus'
VMA takeover, Robin Thicke's summer smash "Blurred Lines" is finally starting to lose steam, dropping a spot to #3 as sales were down 3 percent to 244,000. Just behind was Gaga's "Applause," which rose 31 percent and one spot to #4 (213,000).

Cyrus' new ballad, "Wrecking Ball," rose eight to #5 (up 124 percent, 201,000) and "We Can't Stop" fell two to #9 as sales climbed 10 percent to 157,000. Rounding out the top 10 was another VMA performer, Drake, whose "Hold On, We're Going Home" moved back in at #10 as sales spiked by 57 percent to 141,000.

Eminem goes "Bezerk"

Slim Shady made a healthy return to the songs chart with the old-school jam "Bezerk." The Beastie Boys-sampling tune from Eminem's upcoming The Marshall Mathers LP 2 rushed into the #2 slot on sales of 362,000. Those numbers were around 17,000 units below the first single from Recovery, "Not Afraid," which debuted at #1 in 2010.

All Hail A7X

It was another trip to the top for ...

Lil Twist’s ‘Twerk’ Started As A Justin Bieber/Miley Cyrus Duet

Lil Twist's "Twerk" record may have seemed to come out of nowhere when it hit the Internet last week, but it sure came right on time.

The Young Money rapper says he doesn't know how his collaboration with Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus leaked on August 28, just three days after Miley shocked music fans with her twerk-tastic, booty-shaking performance at the 2013 Video Music Awards.

"When it started off, it was Justin's record," Twist confirmed to MTV News during a sit-down in Los Angeles on Friday.

According to the Young Money rapper, "Twerk" was originally intended to be a part of JB's a vague hashtag that the singer first used in April to tease a new project. His manager Scooter Braun told MTV News that Justin was writing up to two songs a day during his Believe tour, and he's been labeling them by the city he writes them in.

No telling which city he wrote "Twerk" in, but after a conversation over dinner at the popular Japanese restaurant Nobu, Bieber decided that the song would be better served in the hands of his friend. "He was doing 'Twerk' for 'Journals' with him and Miley and then once me and him had a conversation over dinner it was like, 'Yo bro, I think this should be your single and we should go with it'," Twist explained.

The record is produced by Maejor Ali and Chef Tone and features a catchy chorus from Cyrus, which only enhances Twist and Bieber's hyped-up performances. "I came up in this party time to ...

Happy Birthday Beyonce: Celebrate To Her 8 Most ‘Grrrl’-Power Tracks

She may not be the most punk-rock girl on the block, but Beyoncé Knowles has a touch of the riot grrrl to her — at least according to '90s punk icon and original riot grrrl Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill, Le Tigre and the Julie Ruin fame. In honor of Queen Bey's 31st birthday, MTV News is counting down the top eight lyrics that make her pop's ultimate "independent woman."

"I could really go on about Beyoncé forever," Hanna, whose album Run Fast dropped Tuesday, said in a VMA weekend interview with Grimes and Buzzworthy's Tamar Anitai. The artists went on to spend a good portion of their 15-minute chat talking about Bey and the inherent feminism and strength in her music, something Hanna knows a thing or two about.

The singer not only spent seven years in seminal female punk band Bikini Kill, she also curated an expansive archive of 'zines and other materials dubbed the Riot Grrrl Collection. That anthology of sorts got its name from the underground feminist punk rock movement of the same name.

"I love 'Survivor,' " Hanna gushed. "It's so good. And the whole [lyric] 'I'm not going to dis you on the Internet' — instead I'm going to dis you in a song that 1,000 million people are going to listen to? It's so good."

And "Survivor" (from Bey's Destiny's Child days) isn't the star's only stand-up-and-fight jam. Here's are 8 more riot grrl-esque lyrics. You won't find any directives to "suck my left one" up in this mix, but there's ...

Jon Stewart Dresses Up As Miley In (Terrifying) ‘Daily Show’ Comeback

Jon Stewart spent his summer hiatus directing his first film, "Rosewater," a true story about a London-based journalist who was detained and brutally interrogated in 2009 while reporting on Iran's presidential election.

So, you'd think that after his first summer off in nearly 15 years, Stewart would be eager to dig into some of the major stories he missed while on location. Which, of course, he did with a series of segments on the conflict in Syria on Tuesday night's return show.

But, first things first. When fill-in correspondent John Oliver went to greet Stewart in the show's opening bit, he found his old friend sporting a shaggy beard and speaking in unintelligible Arabic. Perplexed, Oliver attempted to bring back the "real" Stew Beef.

"Jon's back, but I think the Middle East has changed him," Oliver told fellow correspondent Jessica Williams. "He's not even acting American. Get a defibrillator ... and two Big Macs."

The shock to the chest seemed to do the trick ... except they went too far and Stewart popped back up as a redneck comedian in a sleeveless plaid shirt and camo hat ranting about Obamacare and Paula Deen. After several other attempts — which turned Stewart into an ancient Jewish prophet, a British scholar, Smurf and late Queen singer Freddie Mercury — it seemed like Oliver and Williams had the right formula.

That is, until Stewart emerged sporting pig tails and wearing a flesh-colored leotard, rubbing his nether regions with a foam finger ...

Lady Gaga To Pull Double Duty On ‘SNL?’

Lady Gaga may be boldly going where only Britney, Bruno, Bieber (and a whole lot of musicians whose names don't begin with the letter B) have gone before: pulling double duty as host and musical guest on "Saturday Night Live."

Yes, according to TVLine.com, Gaga is in discussions to return to "SNL" this season, and this time, she'd take on hosting duties in addition to performing.

It would mark the Mother Monster's third stint on show show — she's previously served as the musical guest in 2009 and 2011 — and, in her previous appearances, she acted in several sketches with hosts Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake (including "What's That Name?" and "Deep House Dish," which pitted her in a dance-off against Madonna).

Of course, her fans may not want to set their DVRs just yet: a spokesperson for NBC declined to comment on the report, saying that "SNL's" fall lineup is still being finalized (the show's 39th season premieres on September 28). Gaga's ARTPOP album is due on November 11, and she's been firing up the promotional machine in support of it, including the live debut of first single "Applause" at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

Over the show's lengthy history, everyone from Paul Simon to MC Hammer has served as both host and musical guest on "SNL," though in recent years, it's become even more commonplace: Taylor Swift did double duty in 2009, Bruno Mars pulled off the feat in 2012, and last year, Justin Bieber handled both tasks.
