Nitty Scott Shows Us ‘How We Do’ In Brooklyn

Don't let Nitty Scott MC's "Flower Child" video fool you. In the clip, which dropped in June, Nitty floats barefoot through Brooklyn in a flowing white dress with a string of lilies wrapped around her head like a crown. Yes, Scott is all woman, but she's from BK, and she's a beast on the mic.

Before MTV takes the 2013 Video Music Awards to the Barclays Center on Sunday, August 25, we hit the streets of Brooklyn to soak up some culture from the borough's emerging hip-hop talent, like eXquire and Troy Ave. Every day this week, we've spotlighted a brand-new artist for our Brooklyn Hip-Hop Week, and Nitty Scott MC is next up.

Where I'm From
"The borough of Brooklyn is raw, lively, full of struggle, but it's full of so much hope and heart as well. So this is Flatbush — you can get your hair braided, catch a taxi and pawn your jewelry all on one block, 'cause that's how we do in Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Influencers
"Mos Def, he's just so poetic and he's melodic as well. I consider myself kind of a melodic rapper, where you can sing some of the bars, and Mos is definitely one of those dudes, where he don't sing but he'll sing. [Then the Notorious B.I.G.] of course. I'll listen to a Big record and I don't feel like a character that he's falling into or anything like that."

The Brooklyn MC Is ...
"In order to be a Brooklyn MC, there's a lot of struggle around you, so a desire to work ...

Robin Thicke Hits The Football Field With Kendrick Lamar For ‘Give It 2 U’ Video

After creating a phenomenon with his VMA-nominated visuals for "Blurred Lines," Robin Thicke once again tapped director Diane Martel to make magic in the upcoming video for "Give It 2 U," which will premiere Friday (August 23) at 7:53 p.m. on MTV, immediately followed by a live interview with Thicke on MTV.com.

The singer filmed his new video with Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz in Los Angeles earlier this month, and MTV News was on set to capture some behind-the-scenes action. "Well, I can't tell you everything that's going on, but what I do know is we have a cotton candy lady [and] we have three gorgeous football players dropping it like it's hot," Thicke said on the video set, flanked by four women in costume.

The video was shot on a sunny football field, and our cameras caught Thicke and Lamar riding around on mini trucks with women on their laps. "It's a Diane Martel dream, and I'm just happy to be here," Thicke added, giving props to the director who dreamed up his sexy and controversial "Blurred Lines" video. "The thing about Diane Martel that makes it so amazing — besides just being a crazy genius — is that she combines all different parts of the world into one soup. She takes the cotton candy, she takes the beautiful football-playing girls and she mixes it all up into one beautiful pot. So we're all very lucky to have her and excited to be working with her again."

Which Batman Will Ben Affleck Be In ‘Man Of Steel’ Sequel?

Much like James Bond, Batman has become a role defined in part by the ever-growing list of actors who have answered its call. As of Thursday night, that list has another name: Ben Affleck. The Academy Award-winning screenwriter and critically acclaimed director will suit up alongside Henry Cavill's Superman in 2015's still untitled "Man of Steel" sequel — a film casually referred to as "Superman/Batman," or vice versa. This latest actor switcheroo — following Christian Bale's definitive retirement from the role — brings to light one longstanding Bat-fact: The Batman changes.

From his pulp serial roots in 1939 to Grant Morrison's recent psychedelic take on the detective, Bruce Wayne has weathered shifts in time, tone and temperament to become one of the most iconic pop culture characters of all time. With this in mind, here are five different Batman flavors that could combine to create ... the Batfleck.

Grumpy Old Batman
Director Zack Snyder used a passage from writer and artist Frank Miller's seminal comic book "The Dark Knight Returns" to announce the Batman and Superman team-up movie at San Diego Comic-Con International, leading many to believe that the film would draw on this source material. In the comic, a retired, 55-year-old Bruce Wayne takes up the Bat-mantle again to fight back a growing wave of horrific crime. This Batman is a physically imposing force of unrelenting vigilante justice, one that doesn't take too kindly to Superman's Boy Scout routine. Despite early assumptions that this would inspire the new film's Batman, Affleck's casting throws this a little out ...

‘Pirates Of The Caribbean 5’ Directors Tease ‘Dead Men’ Sequel

When Captain Jack Sparrow returns for a fifth time in the next installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series, he'll be doing so under the direction of a relatively unknown, but uniquely qualified set of directors.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," the title that directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg confirmed to This Is Infamous, will continue the Norwegian duo's adventures on the high seas. Their last effort, "Kon-Tiki," was the Oscar-nominated retelling of Thor Heyerdahl's voyage across the Pacific.

When MTV News spoke with Rønning and Sandberg for the Blu-ray release of "Kon-Tiki," which hits shelves Tuesday, they opened up about moving on to directing a studio tentpole and where they're finding inspiration.

The duo has been working on "Dead Men Tell No Tales" since May, when they were announced as Disney's choice to direct. "We've been on it now for a couple of months, so we are in preproduction. We are in our office at Disney in Burbank," Rønning said. "It's just great, working with Johnny Depp and the Bruckheimer camp. It's a dream come true, really."

This kind of directing gig has been a long time coming for the team, who have worked together since they were boys. "When we grew up in a small town in Norway, we started making little short films when we were 10 years old," Sandberg said. "What we were doing back then was trying to copy 'Indiana Jones' and 'Star Wars' and those movies. It is really a lifelong dream coming true now to make an epic ...

Can ‘The Butler’ Fend Off ‘You’re Next’ At The Box Office?

Last weekend, a hard-working White House worker was able to fend off a group of costumed vigilante teenagers while swiftly dispatching Ashton Kutcher and Liam Hemsworth at the same time. Box-office bombs "Jobs" and "Paranoia" didn't stand a chance against on the way to its $25 million weekend debut.

Forest Whitaker's historical drama may very well dominate moviegoer wallets for a second weekend, even against competition from young adult series adaptation and Edgar Wright's "The World's End." Bloody slasher flick "You're Next," with its ubiquitous and mysterious marketing campaign, could provide the strongest challenge to

Purchased by Lionsgate after its debut at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, "You're Next" is one of those small-budget horror flicks assured to deliver a healthy return. It has also benefited from a number of positive reviews, which certainly isn't always the case for the genre.

Industry projections differed more than usual amongst different outlets leading into the weekend, with the numbers for "The Butler" projected anywhere from $12 million to $16 million and "You're Next" estimates between $11 million and $14 million.

There are more than 24 million copies of the five different "Mortal Instruments" books out there, but it may turn out that the $60 million film adaptation based on the young adult series won't drum up sufficient interest to justify the already-announced second movie. Critics decimated "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," resulting in a lowly 14 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. It collected a reported $3 million on Wednesday, with Sony predicting a $15 million five-day total through ...
