Chris Brown Has Seizure

An ambulance was reportedly called to a Hollywood recording studio early Friday morning (August 9) after 911 dispatchers received a call that Chris Brown had suffered a seizure.

According to TMZ, the Los Angeles City Fire Department rushed to the Record Plant recording studio in Hollywood shortly after 1 a.m. in response to the call. But when they arrived, Brown reportedly refused to be treated or to be transported to the hospital.

The site cited unnamed sources that claimed Brown suffered from seizures as a child. A spokesperson for Brown could not be reached for comment at press time about the incident or the singer's alleged seizure history. A spokesperson for the L.A. City Fire Department was also not available for comment at press time and MTV News was unable to reach a source at the Record Plant for confirmation on the incident.

Brown's on-and-off girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, tweeted, "Prayers all day." She later added, "A lot on my mind today ... I need a hug," along with a pensive-looking selfie.

The health crisis for Brown comes in a year when a number of stars have been felled by seizures. Four months ago Lil Wayne told MTV News that he doesn't remember the series of seizures
that landed him in a hospital earlier this year; the rapper has acknowledged that he suffers from epilepsy Last April, Rick Ross' friend DJ Khaled dismissed rumors
that the Bawse suffered another seizure, just months after he had a pair of seizure-related health scares
.

‘Elysium’ Aims To Take Down ‘Planes’ At Weekend Box Office

Matt Damon is headed to the utopian space station known as this weekend, and Sony Pictures is hoping he will knock a few "Planes" out of the sky on his way into the box-office stratosphere.

The sci-fi class warfare tale "Elysium" will face its strongest competition from Disney's "Planes" as they enter theaters alongside the comedy "We're the Millers" and a second installment in the adaptation of the "Percy Jackson" series.

"Elysium" is filmmaker Neill Blomkamp's follow-up to his acclaimed "District 9." The dystopian story, set in a future where the rich live in luxury aboard a space station while the working class toil in squalor below, marks Damon's first foray into full-on, live-action science fiction. Damon expressed his fondness for the genre in a recent MTV News interview, in which he cited "Aliens," "Blade Runner" and as favorites (and said nice things about JJ Abrams).

The year's other big-budget, non-sequel sci-fi stories — Tom Cruise's "Oblivion," director Guillermo del Toro's "Pacific Rim" and Will Smith's box-office bomb "After Earth" — preceded Damon's R-rated picture. All things considered, industry watchers have predicted an opening weekend in the low to mid-$30 million range. That would put the $115 million fantasy at #1, though a few million shy of the debuts of "Oblivion," "Pacific Rim" and 2009's "District 9."

The #2 position should belong to Disney's "Cars" spin-off which features comedian Dane Cook in the lead voice role. While technically not a Pixar film, Disney Toon Studios' "Planes" does boast Pixar boss John Lasseter as executive producer. Nevertheless, critics ...

Fat Joe Returns To The Darkside With A Few Old Friends

Fat Joe isn't the same guy who dropped his debut album Represent 20 years ago. Back then, he went by Fat Joe Da Gangsta. He has since weight and some aggression — as evidenced by his Casanova-like singles "Another Round," "Pride N Joy" and most recent one

That doesn't mean Joey Crack has forgotten his roots though. His upcoming The Darkside 3 mixtape will drop on August 26, and it will feature production from an old friend. "I got beats from Diamond D — we just through it on, we just rocked," Joe revealed to MTV News.

For those unfamiliar, Diamond was a very popular rapper and producer in the early 1990s. He helped pave the way for artists like Kanye West and Pharrell Williams to be able to rock both the mic and the boards. Diamond also gave Fat Joe his start by adopting him into his Diggin' In the Crates crew. It's been a number of years since they worked together.

"When you go to Fat Joe Da Gangsta, I got Darkside 3 dropping at the end of this month and it's just straight boom-bap hip-hop. I don't even know how to explain it to you," he said. "I think some songs don't even got hooks."

On August 26, Fat Joe has to turn himself in on federal tax charges; he plans to drop The Darkside 3 on the same date. "I tried to avoid it, I tried to do the right thing, I tried to pay it back, but it is what it is," he said of ...

Jared Leto Reveals His Dream Date For The VMAs

Earlier this week, Jared Leto bemoaned his lack of a summer vacation, a fact due in no small part to his job as director on Thirty Seconds To Mars' "Do or Die" music video.

But, as it turns out, he can't put all the blame on that clip. After all, as is often the case with him, Leto was actually pulling double duty during the filming of "Do or Die," shooting a second Mars music video ... this one for the track "City of Angels." And, from the sound of things, this one's gonna be epic.

"I'm making two videos at once. I've been working on 'City of Angels' while I was shooting 'Do Or Die,'" he said. "It's our new single here in the states, it's a very important song, a very personal song, and I think a very personal song.

"It's also a longer song, and while I'm still figuring out what [the video] needs, it will certainly feature a couple of pieces of music, minimum," he continued. "So, yes, it's going to be another Thirty Seconds To Mars short film; it's going to be powerful and emotional and definitely something special."

And for a guy whose past credits include shooting a mini-movie for in China, pushing boundaries with the hyper-sexualized and employing an army of extras and animals for that's saying something.

What Leto wouldn't say was just when "City of Angels" would be finished — "sooner rather than later," was about as specific as he'd get — but he did let MTV News ...

Drake Says Autism Apology Was Not A ‘Cop-Out’

We learned this year that not all rappers are able to offer up adequate apologies when their lyrics come under serious fire. And while some argue that they shouldn't be apologizing in the first place, Drake disagrees, telling MTV News that "sometimes it doesn't pay to be that rebellious."

Last month, J. Cole was criticized for his unkind reference to autism on Drake's prompting both rappers to apologize for the lyrics. In this situation, the YMCMB rapper says that they both felt the need to take responsibility.

"I think we're just both genuinely good guys. I don't want anybody to be offended, and Cole is the nicest guy in the world, so I'm sure it was the worst day ever for him, as far as being attacked by people," Drake told MTV News.

"It's a shame that he got attacked like that because he's such a great guy and that's why I chose to step in and say sorry as well because I felt like — I'm not gonna let him sink by himself, like, 'Oh that wasn't me,' " he added. "It was my song and at the end of the day, I think everybody knows me and Cole are both young guys that stand for something positive."

"It was just important to reinforce that. A lot of people see it as a cop-out — 'oh, you're apologizing' — but sometimes it doesn't pay to be that rebellious. If an apology is what it takes, then [fine]."

At the same time, Drake understands the concerns of those who feel that ...

Justin Bieber And Ariana Grande Get Snuggly In Pic

Is Ariana Grande getting intimate with Justin Bieber?

Last night, before a Believe Tour stop in Tampa, Florida, Grande posted a snap on Twitter of the tourmates getting cuddly. Bieber gives singer a kiss on the cheek while she looks innocently into the camera with her signature smirk.

"@justinbieber you're crazy and nonna says thank you, she loves you," Ariana wrote on Thursday, with a flurry of tweets from fans swirling around her photo in the hours that followed.

She quickly responded to relationship rumors: "Everyone, girls are allowed to be friends with guys. I'm a lady. Chill out."

Ariana is currently on tour with Bieber, with one date left to go on August 10. After that, she's going on her own trek for the Listening Sessions for the rest of the month.

Justin had met Grande's grandparents, and he asked her to post the photo of them, writing, "@ArianaGrande post that pic and tell your grandma she is a cutie."

Fans still might be a little confused why Grande's grandma has a thing for Biebs, but the snuggly photo that followed caused even more jaws to drop. But actually, fans were really into the pairing.

"PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISNT THE CUTEST PICTURE EVER ❤," wrote one excited fan.

But mostly, fan reaction was just one large bowl of alphabet soup. Fans had a hard time forming words after seeing the photo, writing a bunch of jumbled letters. In ALL CAPS, of course.

What do you think of the photo? Tweet @MTVNews with your reaction!

Amanda Bynes’ Psychiatric Hold Continues Under Judge’s Orders

Amanda Bynes' psychiatric hold has been extended again, this time to 30-days, after a judge heard from the troubled actresses' doctors on her serious condition. The judge has also reportedly granted her parents' request for a temporary conservatorship that will allow them to take control of their daughter's finances and personal effects for 30 days.

According to TMZ, doctors at the psychiatric hospital where Bynes, 27, has been a patient for the past two weeks convinced the judge that she was not well enough to be discharged or attend a status hearing on Friday (August 9) at which her lawyer was expected to argue that she was ready to go home.

The site reported that Bynes' doctors asked the judge to come to the hospital for an emergency hearing, where the judge agreed to their request to extend her stay for 30 days. After setting a small fire
in a stranger's driveway last month, Bynes was involuntarily hospitalized for 72 hours
. Doctors then recommended that the stay be extended to 14 days
.

TMZ reported that, according to California law, doctors can only get a 30-day order if the patient is, "gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder." To date, no information has been released on what the diagnosis is for Bynes and the actress has not made any public statements about her forced hospitalization.

Read Nick Cannon's emotional open letter to friend Amanda Bynes.

The judge also granted Bynes' parents a temporary conservatorship, partially based on the findings of an investigator appointed to assess their daughter's mental ...

Macklemore Should Win VMA, Not Kendrick, Schoolboy Q Says

Top Dawg Entertainment runs a pretty tight ship and label stars Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q have a close bond, but when it comes to the Best Hip-Hop Video at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, Q is going against the Black Hippy grain.

K-Dot's "Swimming Pools" vid is going up against Drake's "Started From the Bottom," J. Cole's "Power Trip," A$AP Rocky's "F--kin' Problems," and Schoolboy's favorite, by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

"Of course I'm rooting for Kendrick, but Macklemore probably should win. I'm pretty sure Kendrick believes that too," Q told "RapFix Live" when he appeared on Wednesday's episode.

The epic vid for "Can't Hold Us" was shot on six different continents over the course of 16 days, before it premiered in April. "We appreciate good stuff and that video was crazy. I appreciate what Macklemore did with that video; I liked it better than Kendrick's," Q said with his all too familiar laugh.

On Wednesday, Q, who was inducted into MTV Jams' Fab 5 class of 2013, debuted his "Collard Greens." The psychedelic clip features Kendrick rapping, and his Best Hip-Hop competitor Macklemore dancing in the background. Schoolboy will also appear in Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' upcoming video for "White Walls," but refused to elaborate on that upcoming visual.

"It was fun. I don't want to say too much about it, give too much away. I don't know what he said and I don't want to be the one to give it away 'cause I'm featured on the song," he said. "But it's pretty cool, ...

Lady Gaga Is Marina Abramovic’s ‘Inspiration’

If there's one things we've learned by now it's that Lady Gaga doesn't do anything halfway. Whether it's wearing ankle-hobbling footwear or, literally, performing until she almost breaks her hip, Mother Monster is nothing if not committed to her art.

So, when Gaga took a trip upstate last week to study with legendary performance artist Marina Abramović — known for her endurance-testing works — it stands to reason that the singer didn't pull up short when Abramović put her through the paces for more than 20 hours of training in the rigorous Abramović Method. A sliver of the results can be seen in a NSFW video
posted by the Abramović Institute on Wednesday.

Abramović
told MTV News that she had never heard of Gaga before the singer showed up to her "The Artist Is Present" MoMA show in 2010. "I was not aware she was there," Abramović said. But after the singer showed up, Twitter exploded with activity and, all of a sudden, the young audience for the show "exploded."

They never ended up meeting, but when Abramović recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for an institute she is building in upstate New York, she called Gaga, and got a buzz back from the star a few minutes later. "Three minutes later she sent us an amazing cake," Abramović said. "I was very impressed with how humble and how incredibly determined and hardcore this kid is. She said, 'I want you to teach me. I want to be your student.' "

Who is Marina Abramovic?

Fast-forward a few months to last week, ...

Mack Wilds Made Wu-Tang Proud

Making the jump from Hollywood to the music industry isn't always easy, but Tristan Wilds is more than ready — and a co-sign from his hometown heroes can't hurt.

The actor, who got his start on HBO's acclaimed series "The Wire" and took his career to even higher heights on "90210" and films like "The Secret Life of Bees" and "Red Tails," is ready to let his music voice be heard. Later this year, he will be releasing his major-label debut New York: A Love Story under the name Mack Wilds, and the album will feature two very important guests.

"We have two people that have collaborated, right now it's Method Man and

Mack's current single "Own It," finds the 24-year-old Staten Island native singing his heart out over a drum pattern inspired by Eric B. & Rakim's 1980's hip-hop classic "Eric B. is President." Ne-Yo co-wrote the tune and Salaam Remi produced it. Like the majority of the album, the track has a vintage hip-hop grit to it. That's what attracted Raekwon and Method Man of the Wu-Tang Clan to come in and collaborate with the emerging singer, who also spends a portion of his time on the album rapping.

Wilds' fans have yet to see what he has in store, but Meth got an early preview and gave Mack his vote of confidence. "He just called me on the phone and he told me that he heard the rest of the album and he was so proud of me, like an uncle," Mack said. "It was great."
