‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Clip: Jamie Foxx’s Electro Arrives

If Peter Parker thought the Lizard was bad, wait until he gets a load of Electro.

The electrically-charged Max Dillon is at the heart of a new viral video for director Marc Webb's sequel to last summer's "Spider-Man" reboot. Oscar winner Jamie Foxx stars in the superhero movie as the blue-hued bad guy — and after seeing him in round after round of promotional images, we're now seeing the man in action.

"I can feel it in the walls. I can feel it in my veins," Foxx's villain drones in the video, his voice deep and soaked in pain, almost to the point that you can't understand what he's saying. "No matter what you do, you can't contain it."

The camera pans over various pieces of lab equipment and wires. Ultimately, the shot pulls back to reveal Electro strapped in a mechanical harness, eyes closed, as if he's just transformed into his terrifying and electrifying new persona.

"You want to know how powerful I am? Well, I want to know, too," he growls. "I'm Electro."

The video ends with the words "Electro arrives," and the promise of more information at the "Amazing Spider-Man 2" panel at Comic-Con's Hall H on Friday (July 19).

In previous interviews with MTV News, Foxx has explained that Electro isn't just a murderous mastermind. He starts out as Max Dillon, a geeky scientist with terrible hair and no recognition for his scientific genius. His confidence gets a boost when he first encounters Spider-Man.

"Spider-Man bumps into him and says, 'You're my guy. You're my eyes and ears on the ...

Lorde: More ‘Real’ Than Bieber, Cooler Than You

Lorde is cooler than you. Not only does she name-drop the likes of Nick Drake and SBTRKT as influences, her first song was inspired by Larry Clark's 1995 dark coming-of-age tale "Kids," which, coincidentally, was shot before she was born. That's right, this erudite and articulate songstress is no weathered and weary musician who's jaded by years in the biz — she's just 16 years old. And despite her soon-to-be-status as "the next big thing," she's no manufactured pop princess either.

"I've always written. I wrote short stories until I was about 13 and then messed around with songwriting until I got a bit better," Lorde, a.k.a. Ella Yelich-O'Connor, told MTV News of her budding and oh-so promising music career. "[My first song] was called 'Dope Ghost.' I had just watched that Larry Clark movie 'Kids' and I thought it was rad. I think it was poking fun at this girl in my year who was kind of going off the rails."

Yelich-O'Connor, who grew up on Auckland's North Shore with a Neil Young-loving father and a poet for a mother, first caught the ear of the music world at a talent show when she was 12 years old. "It was my intermediate school talent show, so it was very low-key, just in my school hall," Lorde said. "I sang 'Warwick Avenue' by Duffy."

Although she never posted a video to YouTube — this isn't a Justin Bieber kind of fairy tale — footage of the show somehow found its way to her now-manager, Scott Maclachlan, which led to the tween to ...

How Will Robin Thicke Top ‘Blurred Lines’ Video? Recruit President Obama!

How do you top a video as viral and as topless as Robin Thicke's VMA-nominated ? The R&B star knows that it's all about going big — like, White House big — or going home when it comes to prepping ideas for "Give It 2 U."

"We're gonna have to see if President Obama will be in it," Thicke joked to MTV News on Wednesday, the same day he found out for three Moonmen at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, taking place August 25, live from Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

"I don't know how you can top 'Blurred Lines.' Either that, or maybe we just won't make a video at all. Just disappear on top," he added. "It's like winning the championship in your last season. Why play again?"

The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards: Complete List of Nominees!

If the president is too busy to make it to the shoot (which, let's be honest, will likely be the case), Thicke does have 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar already locked in, calling their contributions to the track "exciting." And, if they want to make their turns in the "Give It 2 U" video as memorable as Pharrell and T.I. in the "Blurred Lines" clip, the crooner has a quite wet and wild idea. But, it likely means they'll be the ones shirtless this time around.

"We're thinking about coming up with a synchronized swimming thing, where 2 Chainz and Kendrick do some leg kicks and maybe some flips in the water," Thicke joked. "I don't know if they're down ...

Cory Monteith Remembered By ‘Glee’ Co-Stars Dianna Agron, Jane Lynch

The death of "Glee" star Cory Monteith has unleashed an outpouring of grief and support from fans of the show, as well as the late actor's castmates.

The latest to weigh in was Jane Lynch. The actress, who plays head cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester on the show, got emotional when talking about Monteith during an appearance on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on Wednesday night.

"Cory's one of the biggest hearts, was a real bright light. He was one of those guys that ... he knew he was breathing rarified air," she said, her voice breaking at times. "The gifts that this wonderful show gave us ... He was always aware that it was a gift and he was quite generous. He was one of those adventurous types of those people. I always admired how he would get up...you know, he would fly to Mexico, he'd throw parties for his friends. I don't think he left one day unlived. He was a real bright light in our family and we've lost a really great guy."

An autopsy report found that Monteith, 31, died of a mixed drug toxicity
involving heroin and alcohol. His body was discovered in his hotel room
at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver on Saturday after he missed his checkout time.

Monteith recently completed his second stint in rehab tied to an ongoing struggle with drugs and alcohol. In April, Monteith voluntarily checked into a facility to deal with an unspecified substance abuse
 issue.

‘Red 2’: The Reinvention Of Anthony Hopkins

The original "Red" boasted a phenomenal cast — Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Helen Mirren, Brian Cox and Morgan Freeman, among other great actors. But in "Red 2," even Willis and Mirren were dumbfounded by the performance that new recruit Anthony Hopkins gives while playing a nutso bomb inventor in the film.

"At a certain point, Helen and I stopped doing our off-camera work, and we were just in awe of what Tony was doing," Willis told MTV News. "[He] referenced like three or four imaginary characters that were in the room, and I went, 'Is that in the script?' And then we just went, 'Oh, that's fantastic!' "

"Red 2" picks up where the last film left off, as Willis and his fellow "Retired, Extremely Dangerous" operatives attempt to fade back into suburban anonymity. But when Malkovich's character uncovers information that Interpol is hunting them down, he, Willis and Parker set out on the lam for a reunion with their former teammates as they try to uncover the reason why they're being pursued, while also saving London from being blown to bits.

Hopkins, who plays the creator of the explosive device that threatens London, explained that he worked with director Dean Parisot to give the character some extra little idiosyncrasies to make him especially unhinged. "I was given carte blanche to invent stuff by the director," he revealed. "It was designed with the writing on the wall, and I said, 'Can I be playing opera?' He said, 'yeah,' and there were some books.

"I just sort of reinvented the script for ...

Demi Lovato Calls Her VMA Friends ‘Fierce Competition’

PHILADELPHIA — If you're Demi Lovato, chances are you're feeling good right now. The pop singer not only premiered her brand-new co-directed video for "Made in the USA" Wednesday, but she also just got nominated for "Best Female Video" at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

"I think that's amazing. My reaction is just so excited, it's an honor just to be nominated," Lovato told MTV News at the Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Summer concert in Philadelphia, hours after the nominations were announced. "And every time I'm nominated for something I get really, really excited. You never know what will happen, but I'm up against some fierce competition so I'm not getting my hopes up."

The singer is up for the Chris Applebaum-directed clip "Heart Attack," the lead single off Demi. The video showed off an edgier side of Lovato, who demonstrated the raw emotion of the song through visuals, by painting her hands black to almost mask herself from falling in love.

The talented ladies she's up against include Rihanna ("Stay"), Pink ("Just Give Me a Reason"), Taylor Swift ("I Knew You Were Trouble") and Miley Cryus ("We Can't Stop"). And because Lovato is friends with several of her fellow nominees, she doesn't expect there to be any hard feelings if her buddy takes home the award August 25 at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

"Since I've started in this business, we've all been up against each other, and at the end of the day, it's an award," Lovato said. "If you do win it you get really excited and ...

After Trayvon Martin: Wyclef Says There’s A Solution

The 2012 shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Florida left many wondering about race, the right to bear arms and Florida's stand your ground law. In the aftermath of the shooting and George Zimmerman's not guilty verdict, some Americans still had unanswered questions. Wednesday's (July 17) "RapFix Live" attempted to offer some perspective and suggestions on how to move forward.

Wyclef Jean, Prodigy, president of non-profit BK Nation and defense attorney Stacey Richman sat with MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway to discuss the fallout from Saturday's controversial jury decision.

At the end of the show, Wyclef performed his Trayvon-dedicated single, but before that, he urged frustrated youth to get involved in local politics and use their right to vote to help change the laws that could've changed the outcome of the trial.

"Are we really pushing the right laws in our communities? Are you really voting for the right senator in your community? Are you voting for the right mayor?" he questioned.

After "RapFix" audience member asked 'Clef how he will use his celebrity voice to fight for the cause, he messaged that the power is within the people. "The real celebrity is you... you authorize me and you give me the power and you make me famous and you are millions," he explained. "So imagine if you took that same energy and decided that you want to go change a law in congress. The power is not in the celebrity... the power is in the numbers and the communities."

Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran Will ‘Pretend To Be Rappers’ If They Win A VMA

We already knew that Ed Sheeran was planning to go thanks to an early-morning tweet on Wednesday (July 17) about his Best Male Video ("Lego House") nomination at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

The British singer/songwriter is a first-time nominee for the Sunday, August 25 show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where he'll face off against six-time nominee Justin Timberlake ("Mirrors"), four timer Bruno Mars ("Locked out of Heaven"), three timer Robin Thicke ("Blurred Lines") and fellow newcomer to the big show, Kendrick Lamar ("Swimming Pools").

"It's my very first [VMA] nomination, but I really haven't been nominated for that much stuff in America yet," Sheeran told MTV News. The singer has taken home a pair of Brit Awards and a prestigious Ivor Novello trophy in his native England, but the VMA is one of his first big honors on these shores. "So it's nice to have this sort of recognition."

The nod came for a "House" clip that mixes live performance and road footage with images of Sheeran strolling down a country lane, hanging in a room full of lamps, perfecting his bedhead hairdo and, yes, building various Lego sets. Oh, and in case you're not really that familiar with what Sheeran looks like, (spoiler alert) most of the clip features "Harry Potter" actor Rupert Grint playing a demented Ed-alike stalker with seriously crazy eyes.

"It's an idea I had from before we did the video and the opportunity came up and we did it," he said of the chance to mess with the many people ...
