Demi Lovato’s Fourth Of July Single ‘Made In The USA’ Is About ‘Real Love’

Demi Lovato has got the perfect jam to add to your Fourth of July playlist, her latest Demi cut, which celebrates red, white and blue-hued true love.

Just in time for the holiday, MTV News got the inside scoop on the up-tempo, Independence Day release from songwriter, Jason Evigan, who recalled what it was like crafting the tune with Demi. "These American romantic love stories [inspired it] and I feel like they're unbreakable through the years, through time, since the 30s and 40s and 50s, they still hold up. Real love, if it's made in the USA, it's never gonna break," Evigan explained of the song's patriotic lyrics.

Evigan, who also worked with Demi on her single shared some of the history of the song. It was originally written for R&B singer, Blair Perkins, two years ago but after Ne-Yo, who helped to A&R Demi's May album release, heard the song, he knew it was meant for the former Disney actress.

Jay-Z, Sky Blu Have Some Jams For Your Independence Day Party!

So, they tweaked the production to fit Demi's aesthetic, throwing some guitar on the track. "It was [always up-tempo], but it was 808s and trap drums and sounded almost like a young Chris Brown record. It's funny because if you listen to it, if you put a swag on it, it actually has a pretty R&B feel to it," he said. "[Now] it's got like a country vibe mixed with this R&B feel, which makes it kind of pop country rock thing."

Once the production was Demi-fied, ...

Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail Is ‘Incredible,’ Roc Nation Star Gushes

LOS ANGELESJay-Z fanatics finally have Hov's Magna Carta Holy Grail in their hands, but a few lucky ones close to the star rapper got an advanced listen.

"It's incredible," gushed Roc Nation singer Bridget Kelly when she walked down the red carpet at the 2013 BET Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Kelly is getting set to drop her debut album Something Different later this year and her current single "Street Dreamin' " features Kendrick Lamar. What Kelly also has is some pretty cool inspiration from her Roc Nation boss and his unique Magna Carta roll-out. "[He's] changing the game," she said of Jay. "He is a marketing genius, but he's also really convicted in what he wants and I respect that about him. He's an artist. Apart from being a businessman, he's an artist, so he knows exactly what he wants to present, what image he wants to be a part of his name and I think that's really dope."

Jay-Z's Magna Carta Samsung App: A How-To Guide

On Wednesday, Jay dropped the artsy album cover for MCHG, which is now situated at the Salisbury Cathedral alongside the Magna Carta itself. "We know how important Magna Carta, and all it represents, is to people across the globe. The ideals it embodies are still relevant today. Jay Z, through his album, is creating a huge awareness of this historic document and its modern significance to a huge audience in the run up to its 800th anniversary in 2015. We hope to welcome many of his fans ...

Jay-Z’s Daring Magna Carta Holy Grail Reaches Back For A New Sound

With the sudden announcement of Jay-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail came promises of new rules and digital innovation, but when all else failed all fans were left with was the music.

By the time the Samsung MCHG app counter hit zero at midnight on Wednesday and July 3 turned into July 4, disappointed fanatics hit Twitter crying foul with a exciting rollout that didn't work as advertised. Many Samsung users were left without the album they were expecting, but like all LPs Magna Carta, found its way onto the Internet via pirated links that were shared through the ante meridiem hours on Tuesday.

The 16-track trip begins to unravel with the Justin Timberlake-assisted "Holy Grail." Remarkably dissimilar from the groovy "Suit & Tie," the Legends of Summer new collab doesn't inspire dance moves as much as it does deep thought and emotion. "You take the clothes off my back and I let you," Timberlake wails before he ponders: "And I still don't why I love you so much."

With his verses Jay mulls over the pitfalls of his fame atop somber piano keys and a steady drum knock. That's not to suggest that Holy Grail is an over-intellectual affair. There is a ton of dual meaning packed behind each Jigga rap, but it works just as well with a surface listen. "Picasso Baby" starts off with nods to the MOMA, the Met and the Louvre, but two-and-a-half minutes into the Timbaland-produced gem, the tempo switches and so does Hov's subject matter. "I never stuck my c--k in a Fox's box/ ...

Mac Miller Toasts His Indie Cred On Independence Day

Sure, Mac Miller can partner up with a major label — who wouldn't want a #1-selling, reality-show-starring, 21-year-old rap machine on their roster? Sadly for the majors, Mac loves his independence.

"I got no hatred towards major labels or anything. I never got a chance to hear what they had to say. We just really wanted to stick with our home team and keep it in the family," Mac told back in 2011 right after his debut album Blue Slide Park hit #1 on the Billboard 200 albums, making him the first indie artist to accomplish the feat with a debut since Tha Dogg Pound did it in 1995.

Since BSP Mac has gone on to sell out world tours, release his critically acclaimed Macadelic mixtape and star in his own reality show, "Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family" on MTV2. On June 18, Mac dropped his sophomore album, Watching Movies with the Sound Off, and while he didn't hit that #1 spot, he proved that he had what it takes to go up against musical heavyweights J. Cole and Kanye West. Yeezus hit #1 with over 325,000 copies sold, while Cole's Born Sinner earned the # 2 spot moving 296,000 units. Mac hit #3 selling an impressive 101,000 copies in his first week — not bad for an indie.

Miller's independent winning streak makes him a fitting representative for MTV's July 4 Music Independence Day Blow Out, a 12-hour celebration of music from superstars and emerging artists alike on Thursday (July 4). From now until 6 p.m. ...

Birdman Surprises Ace Hood, Future With Gold ‘Bugatti’ Plaque: Watch Now!

LOS ANGELESAce Hood has a handful of unforgettable singles in his discography, but none bigger than "Bugatti," his aspirational ode to luxury rides.

The record, which was produced by Mike Will Made It and features Rick Ross and Future has been a staple on radio and in the clubs since it was first released in January. The infectious ode has kept sale registers ringing and has been certified gold by the RIAA, making it Ace's most successful single to date.

On Saturday, Cash Money CEO Bryan "

Birdman also invited Future, who arrived with Mike Will, neither had any idea that when they arrived at the studio that they would be greeted with a plaque or by our cameras. Future, who contributes the song's energetic hook, was taken back by Baby's gesture. "It takes your breath away sometimes when you look at things like this plaque and knowing where you come from," he said. "You start reminiscing about days when you were down and out."

Ace's mentor and We the Best label CEO DJ Khaled helped put the record together and Birdman told us that his plaque will be sent him, as well Rick Ross'. The track is driven by Ace's frantic rhyme pattern, Rozay's patented gruff, Mike WiLL's pounding beat and Future's raspy wail. "I woke up in a new Bugatti," he shouts after bragging on his lavish marijuana habits, foreign girlfriends and menacing gang of islanders.

It's all a recipe for a quality rap hit.

"We always knew the record was going to be big. We knew the ...

Taylor Swift Relives Red Tour With Glitzy New Video

Put down that hot dog — Swifties have a new Taylor Swift video to watch. TSwizzle got inspired by the red, white and blue of the impending Independence Day to debut her colorful clip for the live version of "Red."

For those who haven't been to the singer's Red tour, which has been making its way around the globe for months, the new video pastes together highlights from the show. As if you were seeing her live, Taylor emerges onstage in her lacey white top, high-waisted shorts, red oxfords and a glittery guitar. But first, viewers are taken backstage, where fans hung out with the superstar before the concert in Club Red. Taylor toasts to a good show with Swifties, gathering around in a circle to wish her luck.

With lens flares and flashes of red abound, the video pans out over one sold-arena to another. The banjo twangs and Swift sings smoothly while fans raise their hands and belt the lyrics out. An electric guitar takes an appropriate, high-energy solo.

Taylor shared some of her favorite moments from the Red tour to MTV News, but also said she can't peg one moment as a highlight.

"As far as you look there are people. It was just crazy," she said. "We've been doing a lot of stadiums on this tour and every time we play a new stadium, I'm like, that's the highlight of the tour."

And no matter where she is — as we see in the video — she's bold and confident, although she admits she only looks the part ...

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Help MTV Celebrate Music Independence Day!

When Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's The Heist debuted at #2 on the Billboard albums chart last year, people were surprised. When "Thrift Shop" went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 2013 — just the second time an independent song had ever reached the top spot in chart history — people were shocked. And when "Can't Hold Us" went to #1, then held on for six-straight weeks ... well, there really wasn't anything left to say.

After all, at this point, it's not exactly news that Mack & Lew have achieved monumental success without the help of a major label; but what is noteworthy is the fact that they have no plans of changing their independent ways any time soon ... no matter how often the majors come calling these days.

"There's been interest from everyone; I'm not going to say names, but there's been a lot of flattering feedback in terms of what we've been doing," Macklemore told MTV News. "Any time there's a group going against the grain, there's going to be people that are like 'Wow, you did it by yourself.' In 2012, that's impressive ... we talk to a lot of labels, had some great conversations [but] right now, we're doing it ourselves; and that's what makes the most sense with this project."

And Macklemore & Lewis's independent status makes them the perfect poster children for MTV's July 4 Music Independence Day Blow Out, a 12-hour celebration of music from superstars and emerging artists alike. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on MTV, ...

‘Lone Ranger’: The Reviews Are In!

"Hi-yo Silver, away!"

That's what critics are saying about Disney's attempt to reboot the Western hero as a summer blockbuster hero — but what many critics really mean is "Hi-yo Silver, go away."

The Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer-starring action flick is experiencing a rough ride as it rolls into theaters. Some reviewers are charmed by Depp's turn as Comanche warrior Tonto, while others are left cold, or worse. Likewise, many have praised the film's final action scene — a sequence involving two runaway trains and multiple shoot-outs — but many of those same champions admit that the fun comes far too late in the game.

Read on for more of what critics are saying about "The Lone Ranger," in theaters today.

The (Mildly Spoilerish) Story
"The plot, though overly complicated in the telling, is actually quite simple. Educated lawyer John Reid (Armie Hammer) returns to his hometown of Colby, TX, on a train that's carrying the fearsomely violent bad guy Butch Cavendish (William Fichtner), who is being hauled in by the local civic bigwig Latham Cole (Tom Wilkinson) so that the killer can be publicly hanged in order to assure the townsfolk of their safety. Also on the train bringing Butch and John to Colby is Tonto (Johnny Depp), a mystical, deadpan Comanche whom we eventually learn has been shunned by his tribe and has revenge on his mind due to events from his past. After Cavendish pulls off an elaborate escape with the help of his gang, a posse led by John's older brother Dan (James Badge Dale) hunt ...
