Demi Lovato is proud to be an American. To prove it, she's picked the Fourth of July to release her patriotic Demi single,

"Well, it's no coincidence that it's being released before Fourth of July," she said on "Good Morning America" on Friday (June 28). "I just, I'm proud [and] I know it sounds really cheesy, but I'm proud to be an American. And I'm really proud of my country and how far we've come."

(Earlier this week, Lovato showed her support for the Supreme Court's ruling that overturned two laws restricting the rights of same-sex couples. On Wednesday it was ruled that ruled both Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California's Proposition 8 were unconstitutional.)

Lovato performed the new track during Friday's appearance on "GMA." Of her latest single, she added, "It's a great love song. It's basically about falling in love in the best country ever."

Demi co-directed the music video for "Made In the USA" and confirmed earlier this week it will be released sometime in July. She will also get into the Fourth of July spirit next Thursday when she performs at VH1's Philly 4th of July Jam along with the Roots and John Mayer.

Jay-Z gets deep on a pair of new Magna Carta Holy Grail previews, "Heaven" and "Jay-Z Blue."

In the "Heaven" teaser clip, which premiered late Thursday (June 27), Jay can be seen explaining to producer Rick Rubin that the song "is toying with the idea of [there] being heaven or hell on earth," and the uncertainties that idea raises: "Have you ever been to heaven? Have you ever seen it?" he asks, rhetorically.

"For me, my idea is heaven is in your daughter's laughter; hell could be if your child is missing for three minutes — you're in three minutes of hell," Jay continues, as Rubin nods in agreement. "It's just not my belief that a just God would make you burn or eternity for [the] free will that He gave you."

Earlier in the week, Jay revealed the lyrics for "Heaven," which see him shooting down those Illuminati rumors, and crib a few lines from R.E.M.'s classic "Losing My Religion."

As you can probably infer from its title, the second Magna Carta clip, "Jay-Z Blue" is also inspired by his daughter, though in a completely different manner. On the track, HOV ponders his past, lamenting that his absent dad didn't prepare him for fatherhood or manhood, and, ultimately wondering if he's able to handle the responsibilities of raising his daughter while also maintaining his marriage to Beyoncé.

Reunited and it feels so mean. Fans of Quentin Tarantino's should be pleased to find out that Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio will hit the big screen together again, in what sounds like a very different project.

"Mean Business on North Ganson Street" follows two police officers who team up to solve a string of attacks against the police department in a Missouri town. When the two detectives become targets, they take on the criminals for themselves, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The story is based on the upcoming crime novel by S. Craig Zahler, who will also pen the script. While a director has not been announced, DiCaprio will also produce the film along with his Appian Way production partner Jennifer Davisson Killoran.

The much-buzzed-about "Django Unchained" racked up all kinds of award nominations and wins, including seven MTV Movie Awards nods. Back in April, Foxx went home with a Golden Popcorn for Best WTF Moment along with Samuel L. Jackson.

The news of Foxx's latest role comes on the same day his new action flick, hits theaters. The flick finds Foxx playing the president alongside his pal, Channing Tatum.

Meanwhile, DiCaprio will next play a financial mastermind in Martin Scorsese's new biopic, due out in November. The film, which follows the rise and fall of financial prodigy Jordan Belfort, marks the fifth collaboration between Scorsese and Dicaprio.

Miley Cyrus shocked plenty of folks when her video premiered last week, but director Diane Martel wasn't worried about the backlash. Because to her, the clip isn't shocking ... it's a statement.

"We set out to make something we would love and we did!" she told MTV News in an email. "I don't see this video as shocking, it's creative."

As Martel explained, several of the video's key scenes — finger cutting, French-fry skulls, furry teddy bear backpacks, etc. — weren't intended to outrage or provoke ... rather, they were carefully selected by the director and her creative team, taken from blogs and pop artists and meant to pay homage to the creative spirit that Cyrus has been channeling on her new music.

And that meant Cyrus was involved with Martel's team every step of the way, because to her, "We Can't Stop" represented a whole lot more than just a comeback; it was personal.

"We spoke a lot and sent photos back and forth; we spoke about her love of her close friends," Martel wrote. "She is not a career-crazed kid. Her music is intensely important to her but so is her social life; [so] we spoke about the joy of tight friendships. To me, she is showing us, the audience, her playful, beautiful self, very freely. [It's] a music video version of what it must be like to bug out and act crazy with her in real life."
