‘NSYNC Meets Sex Pistols In New ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ Musical

Michelle Williams, Brandon Boyd, Johnny Rotten and 'NSYNC's JC Chasez — what does this list of seemingly disparate musicians have in common? That would be Jesus. "Jesus Christ Superstar," that is. The aforementioned acts are taking to the road for a 50-stop North American tour of the rock opera.

Boyd and Williams, who play Judas and Mary Magdalene respectively, hit "Good Morning America" Friday (April 4) to announce their participation in the show, which kicks off June 9 in New Orleans. They also performed the titular song from the musical.

In addition to the Incubus frontman and former Destiny's Child singer, the cast also includes Chasez as Pontius Pilate, The Sex Pistols' John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten) as King Herod and U.K. reality show star Ben Forster as Jesus, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"It's completely new, and it's incredible," Boyd said on "Good Morning America." "It's an arena rock show."

Musicians have been storming the theater world of late, with Carly Rae Jepsen starring in "Cinderella," Carole King getting her own Broadway show and Courtney Love confirming that there could be a Nirvana musical in the works.

Last time Boyd spoke with MTV — about his side project Sons of the Sea — he told me that he was taking singing lessons. I guess we know now what he was warming those pipes up in preparation for.

What do you think of this all-star lineup? Who would you have cast in the show?

Bullies Beware: 50 Cent’s ‘Playground’ To Become Animated TV Series

After five years, 50 Cent will finally release his fifth album in June, but that doesn't mean the businessman has put his other ventures on hold. In fact, he's continuing to branch out, with plans for his anti-bullying book, "Playground," to become a show on FOX.

"I realized that the animated stars are bullies — like Bart Simpson, Dennis the Menace, and those different things," Fif said during an interview on Atlanta's V103. "I went and met with [film producer] Brian Grazer, and Brian Loucks over at CAA, he helped me create the actual meeting and put me with the right people. And I got the show picked up on FOX. So, I got an animated show coming there."

This isn't his first foray into producing. In 2010, 50 landed a 10-film, $200 million deal with Lionsgate and Grindstone for his production company, Cheetah Vision. In 2012, he scored another — this one for $250 million and 10 films. On the TV side, he's executive-producing "Power," which began filming last year and is set to air on Starz.

"Playground," first published in November 2012, tells the story of a teenage bully who ultimately questions his actions and sees the errors in his ways. The Queens rapper said it was inspired by his now-17-year-old son.

"He was telling me a scenario one time about something that was going on in his school, and I found myself trying to explain it," 50 recalled. "We understand the difference in right and wrong as adults. So, while I'm explaining it to him, I'm ...

Johnny Depp Finally Explains That Sparkly ‘Chick’s Ring’ He’s Been Wearing

Johnny Depp never makes it easy. During an appearance on "The Today Show" on Friday (April 4) promoted as the big reveal of his engagement, when asked if the sparkly diamond bauble on his left hand was an engagement ring, he told host Savannah Guthrie, "That's a chick's ring."

"Does that mean you're engaged?" she asked.

"That means I'm wearing a chick's ring," Depp responded, demurring again. "Well, wearing a chick's engagement ring on my finger, being a fella, as far as you know, because I might be a woman, who knows? ... What would you consider?"

Guthrie definitely thought the ring made him look engaged. And, again, being JD, he didn't say the words, but snapped his fingers and winked in response, accepting the host's congratulations.

"She's a wonderful girl," Depp, 50, said of actress/model Amber Heard, 27, to whom he reportedly got engaged in late 2013
. "She's sharp as a tack. A southern belle and sweet as can be, and very good for me."

When Guthrie further pressed on reports that Heard might be pregnant, Depp quipped, "Expecting what? A child? Good God, what do you think I am, a savage?" He said son Jack and daughter Lily-Rose — with former partner of 14 years Vanessa Paradis — shouldn't expect a new sibling anytime soon. "No, no it's not a shotgun affair," he said to Guthrie, who recently announced that she is pregnant and had secretly gotten married.

Austin Mahone’s Secret Is Out: Here’s His Album Release And Tour Dates

It may be Austin Mahone's 18th birthday, but he decided to give his Mahomies the ultimate gift: an album release date and an upcoming tour.

On Friday (April 4), Mahone not only announced that he will release his debut album, The Secret, on May 27, but he will hit the road on his "first big headline tour" kicking off July 25, with special guests Fifth Harmony.

"This is for my Mahomies. Thank you for supporting me and sticking with me all this time," the singer said in a press release. "I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than to be able to announce new music and a huge tour for all you guys!"

Mahomies have been anxiously anticipating the pop star's debut, which he promises will be well worth the wait.

"My new album, I'm still putting it together, you know the reason why it's taking so long is because I just want to make [sure], you know, every song on there is perfect," the singer told MTV News in December of 2013. "I want my first album to just be crazy, like, 'Aw man this kid is like, this came out of nowhere, he's got an insane album,' so, I mean, I've worked with so many talented producers and so I just want to pick the right songs for it."

Mahone hooked up with producers Max Martin, Red One and Sean Garrett for his album, which will feature his single "MMM Yeah," and quite possibly that collaboration with Justin Bieber.

Just two months after the release, ...

The Orwells Frontman Won’t Be Taking His Pants Off On Stage Anymore

"I'm not that old, but I'm getting pretty wise" — the lyric leaps out, somehow incongruous in The Orwells' new single "Southern Comfort," a rock 'n' roll thrummer replete with girls, booze and other thoroughly fun/debauched pastimes.

According to lead singer Mario Cuomo, however, it encapsulates his experience being part of an up-and-coming band — one that's composed of a bunch of kids barely out of high school.

"I'm a pretty young-ass dude, so just being on the road and dealing with people and going to f—ing different countries and states and meeting these all people, you just learn a lot about people and street smarts," Cuomo told MTV News. "I probably learned more on our first tour than I ever did in high school, I feel. More things that I think are going to help me. Now I know how to deal with a lot of situations. I f—ed up a lot. That's the only way for me to learn, I think."

If you've ever seen the Orwells live, you'll know that Cuomo will try anything once on stage — convulsing into the crowd, sitting in the sacred "guest chair" during the band's epic Letterman performance and, for a while there, taking off his pants. Sure, he covered everything with a towel -- gym class change style — but he still was apt to stand in front of a teeming crowd, everything hanging out in the breeze. The kids loved it, too, plucking off their own clothes and careening into the pit.

That's something the frontman won't be doing anymore, however.

"It's not ...
