‘Man Of Steel’ Star Henry Cavill: His Journey To Superman

"Man of Steel" isn't just the latest film about Superman, it's the latest chance for an actor to become an icon — in this case, it's Henry Cavill. While the actor straps into the character's red and blue super-suit, MTV News takes a look at his transformation into the last son of Krypton.

Cavill began his professional acting career with a small role in director Kevin Reynolds' "The Count of Monte Cristo," leading to a series of British television opportunities. Before he landed his biggest role to date as Charles Brandon in Showtime's series "The Tudors," he actually courted Kal-El in a 2004 production titled "Superman: Flyby," which was to be directed by McG ("Charlie's Angels"). He was eventually replaced in the role by Brandon Routh when Bryan Singer took over directing duties and redubbed it "Superman Returns," but it was his first brush with blockbuster filmmaking.

His subsequent work in films like "Stardust" gained him a fanbase. They wanted high-profile roles for him, like the Cedric Diggory character in the "Harry Potter" series, which eventually went to Robert Pattinson, and Pattinson's own iconic role of Edward Cullen in the "Twilight" films. (Reportedly, Stephenie Meyer thought he would be perfect as the sparkly bloodsucker, but he was too old to take the role by the time that an adaptation of the first book went into production.) He was also one of the finalists to play James Bond before Daniel Craig landed the role in "Casino Royale," which earned him the designation of "Unluckiest Man in Hollywood" by Empire Magazine.

Steve Angello’s ‘I/O’ Video Makes Fans ‘Director For The Day’

When former Swedish House Mafia member Steve Angello began filming the video for the solo track "I/O," he knew he wanted to get the EDM giants' rabid fans involved somehow. And, judging by the footage he shared with MTV News from the set of the clip, he wasn't kidding.

"The video was based on the story of a person who meets me and along this little journey they do together you can change the outcome of specific scenarios," he said of the clip that will let viewers choose different storylines. Throughout the video, there are five different points where fans will have to click an action for the video's subject. The first decision: pick up the hitchhiker or keep driving.

"My guys on the creative side came up with a very interactive video that is pretty much controlled by whoever is watching it. It lets you, as a fan, or a director, choose the storyboard a little bit and just be the director for the day."

Earlier in the year, Angello had fans submit Instagram photos with the theme "capture the night." After hundreds of pictures were posted, Steve chose 17 to appear in the video. They're subtly placed in the action — like on Angello's plane or on the walls of the club where his fans are partying.

Getting fans involved was a bit of extra work, but Angello said it was worth it to come up with a fresh approach. There are, of course, party scenes in the video for the one-off single credited to Steve Angello vs. Wayne & ...

Kings Of Leon Says Governors Ball Set ‘Wasn’t Meant To Be’

Kings of Leon had big plans for their Friday night headlining slot at the Governors Ball festival — namely, revealing the title of their upcoming Mechanical Bull album via a video starring Jimmy Fallon, and premiering the first single, "Supersoaker" for the folks in attendance.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature had plans of her own, and a day of heavy rain and wind forced organizers to pull the plug on Friday's festivities before KOL took the stage. Much to the disappointment of the Kings themselves.

"We were so bummed that the show couldn't go on, and we were like 'Should we go out there and at least tell them we're so sorry, it's out of our hands?' But then we thought that would make things worse," drummer Nathan Followill told MTV News. "We had this whole thing planned out, but it just wasn't meant to be. But as soon as we heard we weren't going to play, the wheels started in motion, and we were trying to figure out a way to get back there Saturday."

And so, their management got to work, talking with both festival promoters and New York City officials about finding a set time for the band, or possibly pushing back city-mandated curfews. There were also some logistical snags ("Our gear was supposed to be shipped to London, which was a bit of a dilemma," Followill said) and a bit of politicking, but, as anyone who braved the mud at Governors Ball on Saturday can attest to, the Kings ended up taking the stage ... ripping through ...

Austin Mahone Flexes Muscles, Reveals Celebrity Crushes: Watch It Here!

It was a very physical day for Austin Mahone, but at the end of "Live From MTV," he got rewarded with a meet-and-greet with his celebrity crush: Mila Kunis.

Now, if you just forget that Mila was just a cardboard cutout, Austin got a lot of things accomplished Monday (June 10). Along with releasing the video for "What About Love" and having his song reach #5 on the iTunes charts, the pop singer killed it in a game of hoops with his fans and showed off his guns by doing 30 pushups in 30 seconds.

MTV's 30-minute live stream kicked off by talking about the new video. In his signature beanie, Trukfit chain and a "Where the Wild Things Are"-inspired T-shirt, Mahone explained the vibe he was going for in his latest clip. The video displays his Chris Brown dance moves, which he demonstrated to his cheering Mahomies in the audience. "I wanted to have a little old school, but a little new school in there," he said, revealing his musical influences of Backstreet Boys, David Guetta and Trey Songz — quite the mixed bag.

Fans in the audience and on Twitter got to ask Austin questions, but there was one question that host Christina Garibaldi wanted answered first: If the video was shot in Miami, and he's hardly seen without a hat, didn't he get hot with all the dancing?

"It was tough. I definitely lost a couple pounds," he joked.

Yeesh, then it might've been a bad day to come to the MTV Newsroom, where we had him get ...

Little Mix Top Spice Girls ‘Idols’ With Sales Record

Little Mix are taking America by storm. Not only do they have Mixers lining up to catch a glimpse of them at signings and appearances across the country, they are also leaving their mark on the charts thanks to girl-power anthems like

Their debut album, DNA, which they released May 28, just broke a record: They are the first British girl group to debut in the top five with their debut album release, according to their label, Sony. The group topped the legendary Spice Girls. Debuting at #4 on the Billboard albums chart in its first week, DNA beats the Spice Girls' 1997 debut, Spice, which landed at #6 in its first week.

"It was amazing. I don't think any of us ever expected to ever get in the top five. And to beat the Spice Girls was even more incredible 'cause they are like our idols," Jesy Nelson told MTV News. "We looked up to them when we were younger. They've led the way for British girl groups to crack America, and it feels lovely that we've done it as well."

The foursome has been spending time Stateside promoting their debut, and were busy spreading the gospel of DNA when they heard about the news. Leigh-Anne Pinnock recalled, "We just finished a signing, and we got a phone call from a member of the label, and literally we screamed. It's just mad. It's crazy."

In fact, their success has been noticed by the Spice Girls themselves. Shortly after the news broke of Little Mix's hot chart debut, ...

360 Links With Wyclef, Waka Flocka To Start Beginning Of Forever

Main Pick
Headliner: 360

Representing: Queens, New York

Mixtape: Beginning of Forever

Real Spit: Not everyone gets a chance to see their dreams pan out. Queens, New York rapper 360 took a leap of faith last year when dropped his Everywhere and Back for free. Today, 6-0 is a full-time rapper and after he drops his new project Beginning of Forever on Tuesday, he doesn't plan on ever looking back.

"When I wrote the first song 'Vision,' I started writing from a whole different perspective as from my last project Everywhere and Back," 360 told Mixtape Daily of his upcoming BOF. "When I came off that I'm writing for the purposes of, just coming into music period; now I'm writing from a perspective of competing with other rappers."

Not all rappers are 60's competition however, he has made some well-known friends along the way. Freddie Gibbs and Jadakiss lend a hand on 360's "Own Thing" remix, while Waka Flocka jumps on the aspirational "Vanity."

"I want it all, I want everything in this life," 60 sings on the hook.

There are a number of street-centered records like the chest-pounding "Realest in America," but on "Gotta Get It" 360 links with Wyclef Jean and shows his versatility on a song that proves he's thinking bigger than the block. "So when you first come into the game they try to label you/ Pave my own lane, 'cause that's what hard labor do," he spits before 'Clef sings a motivational chorus.

Chances are 360's dreams don't stop at releasing online albums free of charge, but if he's truly focused on forever, then ...
