Jamie Campbell Bower Loves Playing A ‘Douchebag’ In ‘Mortal Instruments’

Jamie Campbell Bower is here to prove that not every Prince Charming is, well, charming.

In his upcoming film Campbell plays the always snarky, rarely snuggly Jace Wayland, a demon-destroying Shadowhunter and the love interest of Brooklyn teen Clary Fray (Lily Collins).

When MTV News visited the set of the urban fantasy (based on the best-selling novel by Cassandra Clare), the actor was quick to affirm that while his character is something of a jerk, it's a role he's relishing.

"What I love about him is the fact that he's actually a bit of a douchebag," Bower said during a 3 a.m. interview on the Toronto set. "He's not like a meathead, he's just sarcastic and rude."

And for good reason, as fans of the series can attest. Jace has a complicated background (one we'll leave vague to avoid spoilers), but suffice it to say, this history has gone a long way towards making him the oft-prickly character he is today. Bower commended director Harald Zwart for capturing not only Jace's moodiness, but that of the monster-ridden world in which he and his fellow Shadowhunters exist.

"I think there is a darkness that Harald has brought to the piece that is easily lost in adaptations, particularly of YA novels," Bower said. "And there's a reality to it, as well, which is nice. You know, it's very easy to go into fantasyland too quickly — he says wearing a dress, effectively. Every girl's got to have a little black dress — that's how I look at it."

Of course, it takes a lot more ...

Amanda Bynes’ Wild Weekend: Threatens NYPD Lawsuit, Rihanna, Rap Career

While you were lounging at the pool or grilling up some dogs over Memorial Day weekend, Amanda Bynes was busy prepping lawsuits, threatening Rihanna and romancing fellow Nickelodeon child star Drake Bell.

The action came after the actress was arrested
by the New York Police Department on Thursday for allegedly throwing bong out of her 36th floor apartment window following reports that she was smoking marijuana in the lobby of her building. That set off a series of odd incidents over the weekend that included her threat to file a lawsuit against the NYPD.

A run-down of Bynes' latest
 wild weekend:

»Saturday: Bynes tweeted to her fans not to believe the "lies" about her arrest, claiming that officers were inappropriate during the incident. "I was sexually harassed by one of the cops the night before last which is who then arrested me," she wrote. "He lied and said I threw a bong out the window when I opened the window for fresh air. Hilarious. He slapped my vagina. Sexual harassment. Big deal. I then called the cops on him. He handcuffed me, which I resisted, quite unlike any of the reports stated."

She added that her trip to a mental hospital before processing was "offensive" and that the police acted "creepy" and that they didn't find any pot on her or any bong
outside her window, which is why the judge released her on her own recognizance. An NYPD spokesperson said the department is investigating Bynes' claims. Amanda also told her million-plus followers to "believe everything I say on ...

98 Degrees’ Recipe For Package Tour: A ‘Hot And Steamy’ Boy-Band Casserole

Break out your vintage homemade signs and t-shirts, the Package Tour kicks off this week. And with the New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men ready to belt out some of their biggest hits, it's bound to be every fan's dream.

It all kicks off Tuesday (May 28) in Uncasville, Connecticut, and will circle around North America, before wrapping up August 4 Indianapolis, Indiana. 98 Degrees are pretty stoked to be in the middle of a BIIM and NKOTB sandwich night after night.

"Well, we like to say, if New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men had a child, it would be us," Drew Lachey told MTV News of playing second every night. "We kind of, in a lot of ways, took our inspiration from Boyz II Men — their harmony sound and things like that — [and] obviously New Kids On The Block, the way they pioneered the genre. So it really is just an honor to be on this tour in general. We said this tour is all about the fans coming out, giving them a fantastic show. It's gonna be basically three hours of hits. It's our job to come out and make sure you leave with a smile on your face."

Nick Lachey added, "We feel like we're part R&B [group] and we ended up being part boy band. We were kind of caught in the middle, so it's almost symbolic that were sandwiched between these two groups on this show." (Each night BIIM will take the stage first, ...

Is Beyonce ‘Crazy In Love’ With Emeli Sande’s ‘Great Gatsby’ Cover?

Emeli Sandé's "Next to Me" is one of the most inescapable songs of the moment. The lead Stateside single from Sande's debut, Our Version of Events, has quickly landed her on the pop A-list.

Needless to say, it's been quite the whirlwind for the 26-year-old former med student. "That was a big breakthrough single for me back home in the U.K. Things change a lot when people listen to your music and your life completely changes," she told MTV News. "So the past two years have really been a fast ride for me."

In fact, the feel-good ditty has even given her the kind of recognition that leads to calls from showbiz heavyweights like Jay-Z and Baz Luhrmann, who enlisted the Brit R&B singer to cover Beyonc—'s "Crazy in Love" for soundtrack.

"It was initially quite daunting, especially because Jay-Z is the executive producer," she said of re-recording Bey's single from her 2003 solo debut, Dangerously in Love, with Roxy Music's Bryan Ferry. "But [it's] a big honor to be involved, and it was really, really fun going to the premiere and seeing it all come together."

Listen To Emeli Sandé's Version Of 'Crazy In Love'!

When we caught up with Sandé earlier this month, she had yet to hear from the Queen Bey about her cover, but did get the approval of her hubby. "I haven't met Beyoncé, but I met Jay-Z afterwards and he was digging it," she said. "So that's good."

Next up, Sandé is working out what her next single will be, and she promises it's ...

‘Arrested Development’: First-Episode Cameo Had Jason Bateman Frazzled

Ever wonder if the cast of your current favorite zany workplace sitcom wandered onto the set of an already cancelled but still beloved sitcom? Well, that's what happened for a brief moment when the trio from Comedy Central's "Arrested Development."

Back in August, word first leaked that the boys from "Workaholics" would make a guest appearance on the show when Jason Bateman tweeted a picture from the "Arrested" set.

Since then, the twitpic left many fans wondering what exactly the trio were up to. Along with Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Ron Howard, Isla Fisher, Terry Crews, John Krasinski (just to name a few) as guest stars, fans were pleasantly surprised to find the crew from Rancho Cucamonga included in the "Arrested" mix.

That question was finally answered when the new season of "Arrested" premiered early Sunday (May 26) on Netflix. And even if you didn't stay up watching the entire 15-episode season, you only had to catch the opener to see what the "Workaholics" were up to.

SPOILERS BELOW

With their trademark cracks and off-the-cuff dialogue, the boys didn't disappoint as behind-the-counter airline employees. They pop up toward the end of the episode giving down-on-his-luck Michael Bluth a hard time for trying to snag a copy of their in-flight magazine, which he's featured in, sans airplane ticket.

"They were great. I really enjoyed them a lot," Jason Bateman told MTV News about working with the comedy threesome. Bateman, who was shooting at the Burbank airport at the time, was unfamiliar with the show and confused at the ...

‘Star Wars: Episode VI’: What’s Its Legacy… And Its Future?

Thirty years ago, on May 25, 1983, George Lucas presented his third "Star Wars" movie — "Episode VI - Return of the Jedi" — to his legions of fans. They'd been waiting three long years since the previous film. Many of them were disappointed.

Directed by Richard Marquand and exec produced and co-written by Lucas, "Jedi" completed the trilogy-spanning conflict between the evil Empire and the noble Rebel Alliance. It ended with an epic battle fought in space and on land (the forest moon of Endor) that culminated in the deaths of both the Emperor and his fearsome protégé Darth Vader.

Eric Geller of TheForce.net theorized that "Star Wars" fans' disappointment in the third film had a lot to do with their love of the second one. "A lot of it is attributable to the post-'Empire Strikes Back' high and the expectations that movies would continue to be like that in 'Star Wars,' " he said. "I think it's really hard to even meet the expectations for a 'Star Wars' movie after the one that most people enjoy the most."

And then of course there's the Ewok issue. Many people just couldn't accept these new fuzzy characters into their Vader-hardened hearts, but they did play an important role in the "Star Wars" story. "It's a lesson about judging a book by its cover and about the expectations that you have when you're the dominant player in a particular area and how that pays off for the underdog," Geller explained. "In this case what we saw was, the Empire — the dominant ...

‘Arrested Development’ Season Four: Eight Things To Remember

Perhaps no other sitcom in television history has attracted as devout a following as "Arrested Development." The show followed the exploits of the chronically dysfunctional and morally iffy Bluth family... while trying to find an audience. The tight-knit group of viewers it did find loved the show passionately, quoting the many one-liners and laughing at every in-joke. But having an audience filled with people who could accurately recreate the family's many chicken imitations wasn't enough to please Fox; they wanted big ratings, so "Arrest Development" was canceled in 2006 after just three seasons and 53 episodes.

Times have changed over the last seven years, though, and now the entire cast has returned for a 15 episode fourth season, available all at once via Netflix starting on May 26th. Since it's been so long since we saw the Bluth clan in action, here's a list of eight things you need to know going into the show's very long-awaited fourth season. This is your refresher course on all of the seals, yachts, lies, secrets and illusions that will most likely prove integral to season four.

Michael And George Michael's 'Escape' To Cabo
Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman) ended the series fleeing from his family on his brother's yacht with his son, George Michael (Michael Cera). The two escaped to Cabo, where, upon waking up the next morning, they discovered that Michael's father George Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor) had stowed away on the yacht (which was merely the latest in a long line of elaborate escapes the patriarch had made throughout the series).

Don't Forget About The SEC
But what ...

Nervo ‘Keep Changing’ Their Mind On Debut Album

NEW YORK — They are responsible for some big hit singles in recent years, but now twin sisters, Liv and Mim, otherwise known as Nervo, are focusing on one thing: themselves.

The Australian DJs, who are CoverGirl brand correspondents, are gearing up for a very busy summer, which includes traveling the world, a Las Vegas residency and working on their much-anticipated debut album.

"We are working on so much. We are trying to finish our album, so we are constantly in the studio," Liv told MTV News at the CoverGirl's BeautyREMIX event in New York City. "We also have a bunch of residencies around the world."

Those residencies include one in Ibiza and another at Las Vegas hot spot Hakkasan at the MGM Grand where they will no doubt be spinning their new single, "Hold On," a track made to get people on their feet and into the clubs.

If you're expecting to see what else the sisters have in store for their new music, you may have to wait a few more months because the duo is a bit indecisive when it comes to their tracks.

Afrojack, Baauer, Steve Aoki: The Best Of EDM At Hangout Fest!

"Well, it's the never-ending album. We keep changing our mind," Liv said. "We feel like we have a bunch of material, and we'll write something else, and we are like, 'OK, this is where we want to take it.' So, I think there will come a time and be like, 'OK, these are the records, let's now finish them,' and hopefully we will ...
