Kree Harrison Hoping For A Studio ‘Go ‘Round’ With Pal Kacey Musgraves

Kree Harrison would love a little help from her friends on her debut album.

The country singer and just might ring up her bestie, up-and-coming Nashville superstar Kacey Musgraves, to help shape her post-"Idol" record.

Harrison and Musgraves worked together on the latter's breakthrough album, Same Trailer Different Park. Harrison sang backup vocals on the release and is hoping to enlist Musgraves' songwriting prowess for her own album.

"She's one of my best friends and I'm so proud of her, and vice versa," she told MTV News of the "Merry Go 'Round" singer. "So I'm sure we'll write for it. ... She's the epitome of class and so good for country to get that out there right now."

Harrison has a handful of country music's finest she could hit the studio with when the time comes. Fellow "Idol" alum Kellie Pickler is a friend of hers, and Harrison will take the stage with the "Dancing With the Stars" winner and "Idol" judge Keith Urban at the Grand Ole Opry on June 4. Harrison said Urban has helped her become more comfortable with wearing her "heart on her sleeve" during her time on the show.

Kree Harrison Weighs In On The Nicki/Mariah 'American Idol' Drama.

Non-country lovers should take note, though: Harrison says that just because she's got a strong country pedigree doesn't mean she's intent on only making music in that genre. And with past "Idol" success stories like Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson making music embraced by all audiences, it seems Harrison is ready to follow in their crossover footsteps.

"Of course, ...

Paris Hilton Joins Lil Wayne’s Cash Money Family?

Paris Hilton has found a new home, and some of her roommates include Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj. The heiress/singer/"Bling Ring" actress has reportedly signed with Cash Money Records.

Hilton broke the news to Showbiz 411, adding that she hopes to have her follow-up to 2006's self-titled debut out by summer. She added it will feature a number of hip-hop acts, including Weezy, and production from EDM superstar Afrojack. "This is a lot different than my first album," Paris told the site. "It's really going to be house music."

Reps for Cash Money confirmed that Hilton is onboard with the label, while Hilton's rep said nothing is set in stone: "Paris Hilton is in talks with a number of record labels right now but we can't confirm anything. When a deal is finalized we will make an official announcement."

Hilton has been rolling with the Cash Money crew for a while now. Last year, she released a song with Wayne, "Last Night," and he was even on hand at her birthday bash back in March. In May, she was also recruited to cameo in the Rich Gang's video for alongside Cash Money all-stars Wayne, Birdman, Mack Maine and Nicki Minaj.

Birdman opened up to "RapFix" about the relationships the label has cultivated over the years. And while he never brought up this reported deal with the hotel heiress, it seemed clear he's into working with all kinds of artists.

"We have other artists like Future, who is not signed to us but a part of us. French, ...

Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories Wows Porter Robinson, Steve Aoki

It's been eight years since Daft Punk's last album, and in that time, dance music has evolved (or, devolved, depending on your perspective) to the point where it's difficult to see where they dynamic duo fit. Or if they even fit at all.

We're beginning to think the answer is the latter. Because on their new Random Access Memories album, Daft Punk aren't concerned with competing with their contemporaries. Rather, they've become obsessed with re-creating the past, crafting an album that pays tribute to disco, funk, early electronic music, prog, psych and jazz. In a way, it seems they're determined to revolutionize dance music — and, in a sense, save it from itself — solely by remembering its roots.

And that certainly begs the question: Will today's EDM stars embrace Daft Punk's new effort, or dismiss it as nothing more than dated disco? Well, when MTV News spoke to up-and-coming DJ/producer Porter Robinson at the Hangout Festival, we asked for his thoughts on the album ... and though he's certainly read the criticisms, he's firmly in favor of the robots' return.

"My peers and I have had this email chain where we've been discussing this album a lot, and I'm definitely in the 'pro' camp. I think it's a success on a lot of levels," Robinson said. "I've heard some of the arguments against it; people say it won't stand against real disco, that this contemporary version of it doesn't match up to what was actually happening in the disco era. But I think, in the same way you can't ...

Can Kanye West Get The ‘Fresh Prince’ To Rap Again?

If anyone can persuade Will Smith to return to music it's Kanye West right? Well, not exactly.

"I've been messing around with Kanye. We were in the studio a couple of times," Big Willie confirmed to HipHollywood.com during an interview to promote his upcoming movie, He continued, "I might get the bug. I'm not gonna do it unless I'm truly inspired, but 'Ye's been pushing me a little bit."

Back in February, West and Smith were photographed together in a studio in Brazil. And it's been eight years since Will dropped his last solo LP, Lost and Found. The gold-selling album was led by the top 10 Billboard hit "Switch," which featured contributions from Snoop Dogg, Ludacris and Mary J. Blige.

If inspiration does strike Smith, though, he'll have to balance music with Hollywood. On May 31, the former Fresh Prince's "After Earth" will hit theaters. The M. Night Shyamalan-directed, post-apocalyptic adventure also stars Smith's son Jaden.

Though Smith said that West has been encouraging him to get back into music, the veteran actor/rapper didn't give any indication about whether Kanye was also pushing for a collaboration. It wouldn't be inconceivable: Yeezy referenced Will Smith and his 2006 film "The Pursuit of Happyness" on "Champion" when he rhymed: "We was sorta like Will Smith and his son/ In the movie, I ain't talkin' 'bout the rich ones." More recently, on Rihanna's "Diamonds" remix, 'Ye spit a few bars from the "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" theme song.

‘American Idol’ Runner-Up Kree Harrison Spills On Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj Drama

If viewers felt the much-hyped tension between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey during this past season of "American Idol," it didn't translate to the contestants in the studio. And, season 12 runner-up, Kree Harrison, explains just what it was like to compete during a season filled with Carey and Minaj trying to proclaim their queen-bee status with the cameras rolling.

"First of all, there's so much going on, the drama of whatever happens on or off camera, there's literally, it's chaos during the live show," Harrison told MTV News on Monday, just days after Candice Glover was crowned this season's winner. "So you don't pay any attention to anything but where you're supposed to be. I mean, I love Nicki; I love Mariah. We would get a kick out of [the fact that] they would talk to each other at all. So whether it was good or bad, we liked it. I'm a big fan of all of them."

And, if you're looking for some juicy tidbits about cat fights backstage, Harrison shares she just didn't see anything like that. "I mean I didn't really see a whole lot of anything. You literally go off stage and you're on to the next thing," she said. "They're not any different than they are on camera, off camera. I would honestly say that the good part about it was that they were all so different. So they brought such a cool thing to us and I like each one of them. There was never any drama, we feel, like ...

Seth MacFarlane’s Next Film: ‘Every Line Is Hilarious,’ Amanda Seyfried Swears

Any movie with a cast that includes Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Sarah Silverman, Giovanni Ribisi and Neil Patrick Harris is probably worth seeing. Add writer/producer/director/actor/singer/awards show host Seth MacFarlane, plus the production team behind his 2012 hit "Ted," and you've got a potential masterpiece.

"A Million Ways to Die in the West" is a comedy Western directed and co-written by MacFarlane (who also stars as Albert, a cowardly sheep farmer trying to win back his lost love). It's currently shooting and scheduled for release on May 30, 2014.

While promoting the animated film "Epic," Seyfried told MTV News about the fun she's been having on the "A Million Ways" set, with MacFarlane at the helm.

"Everybody's laughing all the time," she said. "It's like nobody cares about the fact that they've been shooting a 14-hour day. Every line is hilarious."

Seyfried, who plays Albert's ex-girlfriend, praised MacFarlane's ability to handle his duties as both director and lead actor. "It's amazing, he looks like a movie star," she said. "He's very focused on what he needs to do and he watches the takes, but then all of a sudden he's next to you in the scene, and you're like, uh, are you watching what I'm doing, or...? And then he yells cut when he's in the scene."

Seyfried is also thrilled with her other castmates — especially Harris, her partner in the film. "I couldn't imagine anyone better," she said. "I really love this movie. It's going to be amazing!"

Stone Temple Pilots, Linkin Park Fans Clash Over Chester Bennington Joining STP

Despite protests
from Scott Weiland earlier this year denying the news that he was booted from Stone Temple Pilots the band made the ousting even more official over the weekend when they played their debut show with a new singer: Linkin Park's Chester Bennington.

Not only did they hook up with the singer of the multi-platinum rock-rap act for a surprise weekend gig, they've also recorded a new song with him, the Led Zeppelin-style cruncher "Out of Time," which appears in teaser form on their site, along with new band pictures featuring Bennington.

"Chester has a one-of-a-kind voice that we've admired for a long time," said guitarist Dean DeLeo after the group played a surprise set at KROQ's Weenie Roast over the weekend. "We know Linkin Park will always be his priority, but we thought it would be cool to try something together. We managed to find the time to record a song and we're all really happy with the result."

For his part, Bennington said he's been a fan of STP since he was 13 and that they've had a huge influence on him, noting that his LP bandmates have been supportive of the side gig. No details have been announced yet on how the new arrangement will work and what impact it will have on LP's next album, or if Bennington will tour with STP; for now, the group has a second gig scheduled for Club Nokia in Los Angeles on May 30.

But how do the fans feel? Well, so far they're not so sure.

"Chester Bennington ...
