Afrojack, Calvin Harris, Porter Robinson ‘Take Over’ Electric Daisy Carnival: Day Two

NEW YORK — The second day of Electric Daisy Carnival New York kicked off with cloudy skies and rainfall, but that didn't seem to affect the sold-out crowd of 50,000, who, despite the weather, danced to a slew of DJ/producers who brought the Mets' Citi Field parking lot alive on the otherwise dreary weekend day.

Day two's DJ roster included a diverse group of acts, from the punk-rock electronica sounds of the Bloody Beetroots Live to underground duo Art Department. The self-described "house and techno Kung-Fu master," Loco Dice, played solo and then returned later to close out the Neon Garden stage, where he joined legendary British DJ Carl Cox for a back-to-back set. AN21, the younger brother of Steve Angello, held down the family name Saturday as he played into dusk with his longtime collaboration partner and Size labelmate, Max Vangeli.

EDC-NY may not have hosted every big-room act this year (as it seemed to do last year), but the evening lineup on the Kinetic Field Stage definitely lived up to expectations in the A-list DJ department: Smashing sets came courtesy of superstar DJs Thomas Gold, Calvin Harris, Afrojack and festival-closer Porter Robinson.

Thomas Gold started the evening roll call off nicely, mesmerizing fans with his powerfully bold production. The German DJ played his remix of Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain," along with his stellar hit "Sing2Me." Gold's set was marked by a continuous, loud thumping as he played popular hits from other artists like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, One Republic and Otto Knows; he artfully ...

Kendrick Lamar Inspired By Kanye West ‘Yeezus’ Rollout

GULF SHORES, Alabama — Just after he came off stage following a triumphant set
on the Boom Boom Stage at the Hangout Festival, Compton, California, MC Kendrick Lamar switched from world-beating rapper to hip-hop fan.

Speaking to MTV News' Sway Calloway, Lamar offered his thoughts on one of the year's most anticipated albums: Kanye West's as-yet-untitled sixth album. Like most of us, Lamar checked out West's
when it dropped on Friday, but, also like us, he said he "couldn't quite get the quality right" on the song that mysteriously appeared as part of a global stunt during which it was screened on 66 buildings across the planet.

"It sounded crazy," he said of the tune. "That whole marketing scheme is crazy. It's very inspiring. After a while you get to a point in hip-hop where certain tactics get watered down. How much music can you release on the internet to get it hot? How many singles can you put out. How many videos can you possibly do."

So, Kanye doing things the way he did is just West being the genius that he is, Lamar said, challenging the game and raising stakes once again with an album that's rumored to be titled Yeezus. "That's crazy, I want to hear that," Lamar said. "That's that creative Kanye genius stuff out the box ... whatever way is his way of being creative and getting his message across through that album, that's the culture. I can't wait to hear it."

MTV, VH1 and CMT are live from Hangout 2013, ...

Hangout Fest, Day Two: Kendrick Lamar, Dream Dates And Supermodels On Slides

GULF SHORES, ALABAMA — Day two of the Hangout Festival kicked off much like day one — with beautiful blue skies, white-sand beaches and a bill loaded with can't miss sets.

But what happened in the 12 hours that followed after gates opened at 11 a.m. on Saturday was unlike anything this town (or this festival) had seen before: an MTV star and a supermodel engaging in a "Selfie Challenge," an up-and-coming EDM star patrolling the beaches in a suit, and plenty of big-time sets from big-time talent, of both the new and established variety.

There was the hit-packed, free-wheeling set from the night's headliners, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, full of tried-and-true fist-pumpers and expansive, expressive jams, to the cooly-confident effort from Kendrick Lamar, who packed 'em in at the Hangout's Boom Boom tent, despite the fact he didn't make his set time. Bassnectar was true to his name, delivering with gut-massaging low end, Public Enemy were just as furious as always, the Roots killed in the afternoon sun, and DFA upstarts Holy Ghost made the most out of their early-evening stage with moody, Disco-tinged pop.

As for the action down by the shore, well, MTV's guest correspondents kept things hot. Vinny ...

Bassnectar Showers Hangout Fest Fans With Lights And Beach Balls

GULF SHORES, Alabama — As if a typical Bassnectar show weren't epic enough, the ante was officially upped Saturday night (May 18) at the Hangout Fest.

After showering the beach with heavy bass and a light show, the dubstep master's set was given a surprise ending.

"Lucy in the Sun With Diamonds" filled the air as everyone's favorite freestyle DJ ended his ocean-side performance. After his performance sampled the likes of Jay Z and the Beatles, the die-hard fans were engaged and grateful for whatever Lorin Ashton wanted to play for them. As his closing track dropped, so did dozens of beach balls across the thousands of hands in the air. Some bigger than the fans themselves, the balls rolled across the crowd, creating an incredible spectacle with Bassnectar's infamous light show as a fitting backdrop.

Hangout Fest has been no stranger to inspiring electronic presentations, hosting Afrojack last night and Wolfgang Gartner earlier Saturday. On Sunday, they will end the three-day festival with a bang, with sets from Steve Aoki and Porter Robinson in the Boom Boom Tent.

Even with Hangout Fest behind him, Bassnectar is far from finished bringing his hard-core fan ...

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers Turn Hangout Fest Into Karaoke Bar

GULF SHORES, Alabama — Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers closed out Hangout Fest day two in strong fashion, ripping through a hefty two-hour set on the beaches of Gulf Shores.

The band worked through a number of classics from their extensive catalog, including "I Won't Back Down," "Free Fallin'," "Last Dance With Mary Jane" and "Running Down a Dream," all of which prompted huge sing-alongs. "We got a lot of good singers out there," Petty remarked after "Mary Jane."

The set capped a day that featured performances from Kendrick Lamar, the Roots, Public Enemy and many more. But there's a reason why Petty's All-American brand of rock and roll was a perfect headlining choice; aside from some muffled vocals on "Love Is a Long Road," he worked rather flawlessly through his set, often playing off lead guitarist Mike Campbell. The two dueled ferociously throughout, whipping the crowd into frenzies on "American Girl" and "You Wreck Me," and calming them down on excellent covers like on the slow, bluesy "I Just Want to Make Love to You," made famous by Muddy Waters, and the Grateful Dead classic "Friend of the Devil."

Saturday night's performance was the second stop on Tom Petty's summer tour, which continues through ...

Kendrick Lamar Jets In For Huge Hangout Festival Set

GULF SHORES, Alabama — It took a lot more than a missed flight to stop Compton, California, MC Kendrick Lamar from missing his headlining set in the Boom Boom Tent on Saturday night (May 18) at the Hangout Festival.

Yeah, he might have some problems, but this one was solved by hopping a private jet, which got him to the stage about 25 minutes late. He didn't have to worry about losing the crowd's attention, though, since one of the biggest audiences of the weekend at the home of EDM and hip-hop (where Macklemore & Ryan Lewis shut it down
on Friday night) crushed into the tent and waited patiently for their man.

Lamar gifted them with a laid-back set of songs from his smash breakthrough, good kid, m.A.A.d city and his Section.80 mixtape, including "Hol' Up" and "A.D.H.D." He wasted no time getting the crowd into it, as they shouted along to the booze and sex chorus to "P & P," bringing a smile to his face as he bounced on his toes. Wearing a polo with exotic birds on it and camouflage pants, Lamar let the audience do the heavy lifting again on his hit "F---in' Problems," which had a bottom so heavy it felt like it might shake your fillings out.

The relentless bass keep coming for "Money Trees," and it became clear that this crowd wasn't strictly there for the party anthems, but knew the lyrics to the whole catalog. Because of his laid-back vibe, Lamar didn't have to do much to get the room hyped, ...

‘Anchorman 2’ Trailer Had Us At ‘Hello’: Watch Now!

Will Ferrell's latest "Legend" doesn't arrive until December, but he's keepin' it classy until then. In a brand-new trailer for that arrived Saturday (May 18), your favorite San Diego news team picks up right where they left off.

The trailer starts with a dramatic voice-over name-dropping some of the greatest men of our time — "Jesus, MacArthur, Jay-Z" — insisting that "the great ones always return. And when they do, one thing's for sure: Their hair will be perfect."

The lights go up on Ron Burgundy (Ferrell), Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), Champ Kind (David Koechner) and everyone's favorite dim-witted meteorologist, Brick Tamland (Steve Carell).

"We haven't seen you in a while, America," Ferrell says with his trademark smirk. "You haven't changed a bit."

"I've got liquor breath, and I wanna be your friend," Koechner chimes in, followed by Rudd revealing his favorite new scent: "I got a new cologne; it's called Venom. It's pretty much 100 percent snake venom."

"Happy Easter!" Carell exclaims.

"No, Brick," Ferrell instructs. "You have to say something fun about the movie. We're all saying a little individual thought, almost like a little fun catchphrase."

"Always make sure the parents are around if you hug a child!" Carell offers.

"Just say 'hello,' " Ferrell instructs, followed by Carell's compliance: "Hello!"

Every Week Is Shark Week On The 'Anchorman 2' Set!

But we couldn't end this reintroduction without Ferrell's most famous line from the 2004 original, "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy." "Hey! Fat face! You! You stay classy."

Back in March of last year, Ferrell appeared in character on "Conan" to officially announce ...
