Why Is EDM Obsessed With Nile Rodgers?

You may recognize Tensnake from his popular 2010 hit 'Coma Cat,' but his latest album Glow proves that the German producer is in the dance music scene for the long haul.

A departure from Tensnake's dancefloor-ready instrumental tracks, Glow is a song-oriented album designed for the pop world and radio play. However, it's still influenced by his diverse musical taste — from '90s hip-hop to disco and boogie music.

Tensnake, a.k.a. Marco Niemerski, has always been a fan of disco, which is why disco legend Nile Rodgers' appearance on his wildly catchy single "Love Sublime" is not unexpected. As one of the most respected names in the industry, Rodgers' recent demand for features — from Daft Punk to Avicii — comes as no surprise. Which begs the question — why does EDM love Nile Rodgers?

Tensnake laid it out for MTV News.

"Mainly because he's up for it," he joked. "He's just a legend, really. There's nobody else who has produced that many hit records in the past, from David Bowie to Madonna...which was also commercially very successful. Apart from that he's a very nice person. He's very grounded; he makes it easy for you to be around him. You don't have to be very nervous."

The single "Love Sublime" supplies all of the elements we love from Rodgers' disco guitar and mixes it with Fiora's melodic vocals. To Tensnake, it's an "homage to the good times."

"It's referring to the days of disco where it's no worries, just dance and feel good. That was the inspiration," he explained.

Deadmau5 vs. Mickey Mouse: 6 More Musicians With Dopplegangers

It seems that Deadmau5 and Disney are currently playing a game of mouse and mouse — at least when it comes to both brands' signature rodent silhouettes.

Yup, Deadmau5 (a.k.a. Joel Zimmerman) has filed a trademark registration with the U.S. Trademark office, according to Billboard, seeking to put a lock on the image of his massive mouse head.

Disney, the progenitors of yet another mouse, are apparently less than pleased. The entertainment empire has asked for, and been granted, 90 days to look into Deadmau5's claim and to file a notice of opposition.

In the meantime, we over here at MTV News started thinking about other music world doppelgangers and came up with quite a few crooners who bear an eerily resemblance to well-loved characters.

Check out our six favorite below:

1. Kanye West And King Arthur

Kanye sported this Maison Martin Margiela mask during his "Yeezus" tour — among others. This one, however, bears a striking resemblance to another legendary hero's chainmail of choice. Hey, 'Ye, you might want to consider adding "King Arthur" to the list of luminaries you rival.

2. Daft Punk And Klaatu

Today's most famous bots look a lot like Klaatu, from the classic film, "The Day The Earth Stood Still." Let's hope Daft Punk's lookalike relinquishes his gripe on the globe, however, or else there will be no "night" to be "up all" to "get lucky."

3. Lady Gaga And The Heat Miser

Mother Monster is as benevolent as her doppelganger is stingy.

4. NOBUNNY And The White Rabbit

The White Rabbit's antics ...

‘Arrow’: Willa Holland Teases ‘Deathstroke’ And Her Superhero Future

When we last left Oliver Queen's sister Thea (Willa Holland) on "

"She's in a pretty, pretty scary state," Holland told MTV News on the phone in advance of tonight's (April 2) all new episode, "Deathstroke." "As we can see, she's definitely been kidnapped. She's definitely in an intense situation."

For Thea, this is just the latest in a series of blows for the character. The most recent was when her boyfriend Roy (Colton L. Haynes) hooked up with another woman in order to drive Thea away. Though Thea doesn't know Roy did it because he's hepped up on superhuman drugs that are driving him insane, she still knew the hook-up was more than just her man stepping out on her.

"Roy and Thea will always have an insane love for each other," Holland continued. "Right now she has an understanding that he needs his space. Not getting why he needs his space, but clearly he needs it."

Even with the space and the eternal love, there may not be much a chance for the duo.

"Both of them are going through so much the next few episodes, it's going to play out to be understandable why they needed to have a separation," Holland said. "Hopefully they do rekindle, because I love working with Colton."

And one of those things they'll have to deal with is Thea's abduction by Slade. Slade blames Oliver (Stephen Amell) for the death of his true love, and has decided to burn Oliver's world down around him. Step one in that plan is making Thea disappear.

"The main objective ...

How Much Does The Average Actor Make? Less Than You Think

Like the salaries of most working people, the sums that actors rake in each year — for the most part — aren't public knowledge. Forbes has made a yearly habit out of posting lists of the biggest earners in Hollywood, but what about the rest of the folks?

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, it's not nearly as much as what the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Channing Tatum make.

In their new report on employment and wages, the bureau revealed the average salary for a bunch of different jobs within entertainment, including actors, producers and directors. It shouldn't come as a surprise that the total doesn't come anywhere near RDJ's $75 million, but it might be lower than you expect.

Of the 155,740 actors, directors and producers included in the survey by the Department of Labor report, the average person made $89,000 in 2013, at the rate of $42.80 an hour.

The median is a good deal lower at $30.48. For actors specifically, the median moves down to $22.15.

(And for those of you looking to enter any of those professions, that figure takes 63,230 actors and 92,510 directors and producers into account.)

The really telling number here is that median, since there are an equal number of actors that make higher and lower. And it's also worth noting that people like RDJ and Tatum are the people driving the average up toward the higher end and making acting seem more lucrative for the average thespian than it really is.

So the next time you watch a movie and wonder ...

50 Cent Wants Drake And Rihanna For A Collaboration

There isn't too much that 50 Cent hasn't accomplished musically, but now that the G-Unit boss has a new deal in place, there are a few collaborations that he'd like to knock out.

"I haven't worked with Drake or Rihanna, and I'd like to work with them," 50 said Monday night when he took part in a special "Town Hall" interview that aired on SiriusXM's Shade 45 channel.

"They're artists that they do things that I don't do. It's a different thing. So we have to find the right song for us to be working with on each other," he continued.

Right now, neither Drake nor Rih are slated to appear on 50's upcoming June 3 LP, Animal Ambition, but with guests like Trey Songz, Jadakiss, Styles P and Yo Gotti, Fif has already created a great deal of excitement.

"I don't think anyone can beat Drake and creating relationship-based content. And then Rihanna, I think there is a shortage of female solo artists," he shared. "It's Beyoncé, Rihanna and those other people. That's the way the sh-- starting to feel me."

Asked if he thought he'd ever work with Beyoncé again, 50 said the chances are slim to none. The two first hooked up back in Bey's Destiny's Child days for "Thug Love," a track that appeared on 50's unreleased Power of the Dollar LP.

"Hell no, man. Jay is gonna be like, 'No, no, why would you do that?'" 50 joked, mimicking an imaginary conversation between the famous musical couple. "We had a song a long time ago: 'Thug ...

Scarlett Johansson In ‘Lucy’: Watch The Trailer Now

For her next action-packed effort, Scarlett Johansson is once again kicking ass. Unlike Black Widow, however, the title character of "

Okay, a few things before I dive into the trailer. The reason the premise sounds familiar is because it's essentially the same story from "Limitless" starring Bradley Cooper, expect with more punching.

Secondly, Morgan Freeman apparently plays the world's worst neurology expert because he mentions the "ten percent" thing in a lecture. The idea that humans only use a small portion of their brain is in no way true. We all use every part of our brain. That concept only works as conceits for sci-fi movies.

Good. Now I have that out of my system.

As I was saying, Johansson stars as Lucy, a woman who wakes up to find that some bad guys have hidden a bag of drugs inside her stomach. Whatever's in there leaks and slowly kickstarts previously inactive portions of Lucy's brain.

Because this is a Luc Besson movie, Lucy decides to use her new-found powers to beat people up in increasingly god-like ways. Or at least, that's what the trailer is focusing on.

By the end of the preview, Lucy has grown powerful enough to shape-shift and time travel. It doesn't make much narrative sense if all she uses those abilities to just take down a bad guy, so hopefully we'll move into some off-the-wall existentialism. The trail hints at that — as does the presence of the picky Johansson — so I have a good feeling about "Lucy."

"Lucy" hits theaters on August 8.
