Attention fashion lovers, gossip hounds and all-around pop culture aficionados! Monday night (May 6) is the annual Costume Institute Gala, and that means fashionistas of all types will be descending on the famed staircase at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to pay homage to all things punk.
We know that before the red carpet kicks off and the champagne begins to flow, you might have a few questions. Like, who will be there? What does punk have to do with it? This year's exhibit, "Punk: Chaos to Couture," runs at the museum through August 14. It will take a look back at the influence the punk movement of the '70s has had on fashion, right through today. That means that you can finally learn there actually aren't that many degrees separating Johnny Rotten and Joe Strummer from Avril Lavigne.
