Robert Pattinson Reuniting With ‘Cosmopolis’ Director For ‘Maps To The Stars’

director David Cronenberg may have found his new muses. The auteur has just enlisted Robert Pattinson and his "Cosmopolis" co-star Sarah Gadon for his next project, "Maps to the Stars."

The film, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will take place in Los Angeles and revolve around the celebrity-obsessed culture in Hollywood. Julianne Moore and John Cusack have also been cast in the flick, which is being described as an indie ghost story. Production is slated to kick off in July in Toronto and Los Angeles.

Pattinson stepped out of his "Twilight" shadow in Cronenberg's 2012 gritty thriller, "Cosmopolis." When he spoke to MTV News about hooking up with the director, he explained that working with him was "one of the first times I considered myself an actor."

"I had to come to terms with that," he added about getting the chance to hit the set. "That was one of my first questions: 'What do you see in me? Why? Why? Why are you hiring me?' Cronenberg is one of those people when you're asked who you want to work with, he doesn't even come into my head. Because that's like saying, 'Want to work with Orson Welles?'"

In addition to working again with the director and Gadon, Pattinson has a number of other films in production, including "The Rover," "Mission: Blacklist" and "Queen of the Desert."

This will mark the third time that Gadon has worked with Cronenberg. She also appeared in his film, "A Dangerous Method," describing the experience as "really exciting and liberating and, at ...

Public Enemy Bring The Noise At Rock Hall Of Fame Induction

It was the Rush fans who made the most sound in the audience at Thursday night's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony
at Los Angeles' Nokia Theater, but it was Public Enemy who brought the noise in a raucous set celebrating their place as the fourth hip-hop group to enter the shrine. Oh, and Oprah Winfrey made a surprise appearance to help celebrate legendary producer Quincy Jones and the Foo Fighters wore wigs and kimonos, so there was that.

From most accounts, it was the fans of Canadian prog rockers Rush who ruled the night, yelling out the band members' names and saluting their group at every opportunity, clearly overjoyed that the "Tom Sawyer" trio had finally reached the promised land after nearly 15 years of eligibility. The Foo Fighters performed the band's "2112" as a costumed trio and singer and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl praised Rush percussionist Neil Peart as "the most ripping drummer in the world," according to Billboard, adding that they built their loyal fan base with "no hype ... from the ground up without any help from the mainstream press." After jamming with the Foos on "2112," Rush gave the crowd what they wanted by playing their totemic hit, "Tom Sawyer."

One of the night's longest speeches, though, was from eccentric Public Enemy hypeman Flavor Flav, who ended with a salute to the rap group's leader, Chuck D. "I want to thank you for making great records," he said. "You've been the motor." Spike Lee, wearing a Mookie's Pizza shirt from ...

Tom Cruise Stages Return To Box-Office #1 With ‘Oblivion’

and have both made over $100 million, but seems to be the only true blockbuster of 2013 thus far. But this weekend, Tom Cruise and "Tron: Legacy" director Joseph Kosinski are looking to change that with a sure thing for the #1 spot with no other widespread releases hitting theaters.

Universal is estimating a $30 million opening for the sci-fi epic, which stars Cruise as one of the last people on a post-apocalyptic Earth. The Los Angeles Times cited pre-release audience surveys as the basis for their $37 million projection. But Exhibitor Relations box-office analyst Jeff Bock told MTV News he expects "Oblivion" to rake in more than $40 million, noting that it has already made half of its $120 million budget overseas.

"While Tom Cruise isn't the stratospheric star he once was, 'Oblivion' simply looks too grand and too gorgeous for genre fans to pass up, plus it likely sports enough amped-up action and adventure to satiate the multiplex masses," Bock told MTV News. "Without much competition next weekend, it's conceivable 'Oblivion' could take the #1 spot two weekends in a row. And as long as this makes over $100 million domestically, I'm sure Universal will be relieved."

Cruise recently gushed to MTV News about how making the movie brought out his inner kid. "I'm a fan of movies, and when you look at 'Oblivion,' it has the bubble ship, the bubble bike, we're shooting in Iceland and the mountains of California, and the story is so cool," he told Josh Horowitz ...

Coachella 2013 Do-Over: How To Make Most Of Weekend Two

INDIO, California — Do-over! With Coachella now spanning two consecutive weekends, music fans arriving to the Empire Polo Club fields Friday (April 19) for this year's second go 'round have all the details from the first weekend to help them form their game plan. Here's what MTV News learned on Weekend One of the 2013 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival: Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthing ta F' Wit
No one knew what to expect when the Wu-Tang reunion was announced. After years of in-fighting, it was anyone's guess which members would actually show up for Sunday night's performance celebrating the 20th anniversary of Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Exceeding expectations, all living members — RZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, GZA, and Cappadonna — united onstage. The MCs and the crowd were clearly thrilled by the feat, with one fan saying it was "like seeing a unicorn." Weirdest Cameo Ever?
The strangest moment in a weekend defined by the unusual came with an out-of-left-field cameo. Phoenix welcoming R. Kelly for a mash-up of his "Ignition (Remix)" with their "1901" was no doubt unexpected, but somehow managed to flow seamlessly. There's no telling whether the R&B crooner will pop in again this weekend, but if you're a fan, it could be worth keeping an ear out. 2 Crowded
Get to the Mojave tent early Saturday afternoon if you want to get inside to score some shade and a chance to see 2 Chainz in person. The rapper's draw was much larger than his low billing and early ...

The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes ‘Overwhelmed’ By Fan Support After Surgery

Talk about the worst birthday ever. Though The Wanted's Nathan Sykes was forced to spend his 20th in a Los Angeles hospital undergoing vocal cord surgery, the singer told fans he was stunned by the support from them during his health crisis.

"Not gonna lie, I have been completely overwhelmed by all of the love, support and birthday wishes from you guys," he tweeted Thursday evening. "You are all amazing!!"

The group announced this week that Sykes would be taking an
from the boy band after developing what has been described as hemorrhaged nodule on one of his vocal cords. He traveled to Los Angeles and underwent surgery on Thursday, tweeting a short time afterwards, "Out of surgery ... what a way to spend my birthday!"

Tom Cruise In ‘Oblivion’: The Reviews Are In!

Tom Cruise takes his impeccable hit-making ability back to the sci-fi genre with "

Though nearly every review credits director John Kosinski with the film's sleek futuristic aesthetic, most critics can't get completely on-board with the sci-fi epic they feel borrows too much from what came before it. "Oblivion" has critics split right down the middle, so take a look at our review round up to get a better idea if you should head out to the theaters this weekend.

The Story
"It's 2077. Earth has been devastated by a war with invading aliens. Most of the remaining populace has been relocated to a Saturn moon. Jack has recently undergone a 'mandatory memory wipe' and now goes about his work, a couple of weeks prior to his own exit from Earth. He's a security guard and all-around Mr. Fix-It living and working high above what's left of Earth's surface in Tower 49 with his lover/colleague Victoria (Andrea Riseborough)." — Michael Phillips,
Chicago Tribune

The Visuals
"OK, that's the plot of Pixar's 'WALL-E.' Minus the animation, it's also the motor that drives 'Oblivion,' a fantasy without an original thought in its sleek, empty head. Director Joseph Kosinski ('Tron: Legacy') knows from sleek. If looks were everything, 'Oblivion' — gorgeously shot by 'Life of Pi' Oscar winner Claudio Miranda — would be the sci-fi 'Citizen Kane.' It's not. With a script Karl Gajdusek and Michael DeBruyn adapted from Kosinski's graphic novel, 'Oblivion' is a scavenger, feeding off better material." — Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

Tom Cruise
"Really, though, all you need to know ...

‘American Idol’: A Lady Is ‘Straight Up’ Voted Out

For the first time this season, a female was voted off as country diva-in-training Janelle Arthur was sent home during Thursday's (April 18) results show.

Arthur's performances of Vince Gill's "When I Call Your Name" and Dolly Parton's "Dumb Blonde" on Wednesday landed her at the bottom of the voting pile. She sang the Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On" in her attempt to get the judges to save her, but it wasn't enough.

"There's two for and two not for, so unfortunately, baby, it's not unanimous. We're not gonna use it," Randy Jackson told the 23-year-old Tennessean, noting the debate was "tough." "We love you, though. We love-love you. Thank you."

Arthur was in the bottom two alongside Kree Harrison. "Idol" mentor Jimmy Iovine criticized Arthur's song choices on Wednesday, saying her choice of "Dumb Blonde" was a case of "right diva, wrong song." He called her performances a "strikeout."

Nicki Minaj predicted Arthur would struggle in the voting during Wednesday's performance episode but told her, "You need to know you were great." She added that the all-female top five had "superpowers" and that getting eliminated at this point in the competition wouldn't have "anything to do with how far you can go in the real world."

Arthur's elimination leaves a top four of Harrison, Candice Glover, Angie Miller and Amber Holcomb.

Thursday's show saw a pair of "Idol" vets return to the stage as Clay Aiken reprised his performance of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and Fantasia performed her new song "Lose to Win."

The episode also featured an appearance by Paula Abdul, ...

Jay-Z No Longer An NBA Owner, But Will ‘Always Be A Brooklyn Net’

Jay-Z has officially switched the plan up.

Weeks after news broke that the hip-hop mogul would need to divest his minority ownership stake in the Brooklyn Nets in order to pursue his NBA certification as an agent with Roc Nation Sports, Time magazine's "Most Influential People in the World" cover man erased any doubt with a formal statement. It all went down Thursday (April 18), just days before the Nets embark on their first-round playoff run against the Chicago Bulls.

"Being a member of the Nets organization surpassed some of my greatest ambitions," Jay said in the statement. "It was never about an investment; it was about the NETS and Brooklyn. My job as an owner is over but as a fan it has just begun. I'm a Brooklyn Net forever. It's been an honor to work with Mikhail Prokhorov, Dmitry Razumov, Christophe Charlier, ONEXIM Sports and Entertainment, Brett Yormark and all the wonderful people involved in making the Nets first class. My sincerest thanks goes to Bruce Ratner, who first introduced the idea of moving the Nets to Brooklyn. A thank you and deepest appreciation goes to the fans. You are the lifeblood of any team."

But just as he so boldly rapped in the incendiary track the Roc Nation CEO — who is reportedly working on his 12th studio album — will still "own the building" and be able to watch Brooklyn "keep on taking it" from his courtside throne.

"The Nets have made their mark on the NBA and as they enter a new ...
