Jay-Z’s ‘Open Letter’ Gets Cuban-American Response From Pitbull

Pitbull's Cuban pride runs deep, so with all the talk surrounding Jay-Z's controversial visit to his motherland, Mr. Worldwide couldn't let the moment pass without weighing in.

On Sunday, three days after Hov dropped his Pit released a version of his own. The Jigga version came a week after he and Beyoncé spent their wedding anniversary on the island, where the U.S. holds strong economic sanctions. After the trip, Jay received a ton of criticism and a few republican lawmakers even called for a probe into whether or not the power couple had the proper clearance to travel to Cuba. "Boy from the hood, but got White House clearance/ Sorry y'all, I don't agree with y'all parents," Jay rapped on his version. (An Obama spokesperson later clarified that the president had to Cuba.)

On his own track, Pit educates listeners on Cuba politics and the island's delicate relations with the United States. "Born in Miami, right on time/ Scarface, El Mariel Cuban crime," the "Give Me Everything" rapper rhymed referencing the Mariel boatlift, which brought Cuban immigrants to the U.S. in 1980, many of whom who had criminal pasts. (The Mariel was also show in the opening scenes to the 1983 cult-classic film "Scarface.")

There are references to Elián Gonzalez, the Bay of Pigs invasion and the infamous Cuban Missile Crisis. It isn't standard fare for a rap song, but still Pitbull beats on. "It's the freedom that we ride for/ It's the freedom ...

Coachella Fans Brave Dust Storms For Wu-Tang Clan Reunion, Red Hot Chili Peppers

INDIO, California — Acquiring the nickname "Blowchella" on its final day, the 2013 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was pummeled by strong winds Sunday as obsessive music fans converged on the Empire Polo Club fields.

Rivaling 2012's "Coldchella," the conditions led some festivalgoers to skip out early, while others rode it out, seeking shelter while squinting and covering their faces with bandanas, scarves and anything else they could find.

Wu-Tang Clan, who performed a 20th anniversary show, dubbed the blinding dust storm "Hurricane Wu," and Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis quipped, "I feel like I'm in 'Lawrence of Arabia.' "

Check out performance photos of Wu-Tang Clan, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more.

RHCP started with a slow burn, going uncharacteristically light with "Monarchy of Roses" and "Otherside." But, of course, they soon picked up the pace, getting the crowd going with "Can't Stop" and Josh Klinghoffer's shredding guitar solos on "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" and "Tell Me Baby."

After the "Under the Bridge" singalong, legendary bassist Flea gushed, "I love you from the core of my f---ing spleen." "By the Way," backed by infrared images of the foursome, was an obvious crowd pleaser. Following Chad Smith's funky drum solo and Flea tearing up his crunchy bass, RHCP began their encore with "Around the World," followed by "Give It Away."

Wu-Tang Clan stormed the stage with their debut single, "Protect Ya Neck," and "Bring Da Ruckus." They slowed it down with "I'll Be There for You/You're All I Need to Get By," recorded with Mary J. Blige and featuring Method ...

How Did Taylor Lautner Get That MTV Movie Awards Beer Belly?

The inaugural presentation of Best Shirtless Performance at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards was a tad bittersweet, as it was the last time the "Twilight Saga" would be honored at the show.

Taylor Lautner was the lone wolf, taking home final honors for the franchise for his role in Since making its debut at the Movie Awards in 2009, "Twilight" and its stars have dominated, taking home 18 buckets of Golden Popcorn.

"It's exciting to represent it one last time, but it's really exciting to be here at the transition stage, thinking about the future," Lautner told MTV News backstage. "I mean, 'Twilight' was amazing. It's really cool."

Appearing onstage with a fake beer belly, he called the award the "Oscar" for the shirtless actors out there, but he looked quite different from his washboard-abs-baring character Jacob Black.

"I put on a little weight," he joked to MTV News after the show. "I turned 21, recently, a couple months ago. The drinking just ... it was overboard. Metabolism stopped. It just went straight to the abdomen."

But Taylor planned the stunt because, you know, it's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday, and he ...

‘American Idol’ Song I Wish I Had Written Night: What Should They Sing?

Complaining about lame theme nights on is kind of like griping about that know-nothing dork in your office who always wins the Final Four pool: go ahead, but it's just gonna keep happening the same way every year.

So far we've been spared disco night and haven't had to sit through songs of inspiration or an evening of Rat Pack retreads. Which means that Wednesday's (April 10) "A Song I Wish I Had Written" night could either be amazing or yet another stroll down cheddar lane.

The top six — Lazaro Arbos, Janelle Arthur, Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb and Angie Miller — will each sing twice (the theme for the other song had not been revealed at press time.) What songs do they wish they'd come up with? We have no idea, but that didn't stop us from guessing. (Keep in mind, we did this without peeking at each other's choices, that's how predictable this season is.)

Lazaro Arbos: Season 12's weakest link proved he at least kind of gets Queen last week, but he can't go to that well so soon again. Maybe he'll travel the Michael Jackson route and milk the emotional/inspirational vote one more time with "Man in the Mirror." Kaufman

He wishes he wrote every single song in the Mariah Carey back catalog, so he'll do something from her. Which one? Who cares. Then again, he had success with Queen last week, so maybe he does "The Show Must Go On," which is ironic since there's no possible way said show continues on past ...

Ed Sheeran, Thirty Seconds To Mars Battle For Musical March Madness Championship!

Well, it's come down to this: We've made it to the championship game of MTV's Musical March Madness ... after surviving a Final Four that spanned six days, several technical failures and one official re-start.

It'll be Ed Sheeran battling it out against Thirty Seconds To Mars in a title-game tilt that's sure to be one for the ages, especially given everything we've witnessed so far. Two bands remain out of our field of 64, but only one will be crowned the 2013 MMM Champion ... and it'll be up to you to determine who comes out on top. Voting in our championship game is now underway, and polls will close Friday, April 12 at noon ET.

Oh, and just like we've done in previous years, to build suspense, we're keeping the voting results secret until Friday afternoon, when we'll crown our champ!

And while we're not sure who's going to win MMM, there's one thing we do know: it won't be prohibitive favorites Tokio Hotel. They were knocked off by Sheeran in one of the most hotly-contested (and downright nasty) Final Four battles in tournament history, as fans of both bands crashed a pair of polling sites, forced us to implement a "one vote per hour" contingency plan, and basically called each other — and us — every mean name in the books. From the moment we re-launched the polls on Monday, this one went back-and-forth, first with Sheeran surging to a lead, then TH fighting back and holding an edge for most ...

Beyonce, Nine Inch Nails Lead Jay-Z’s Made In America Lineup

When you're an artist as prolific as Jay-Z, you're often faced with the task of having to outdo yourself. Last year Hov set the bar pretty high when he curated, headlined and shockingly brought out G.O.O.D. Music at the Budweiser Made in America in Philadelphia. Topping that is no easy task, but luckily for Jay, he knows a few folks.

On Wednesday (April 10), after an interactive announcement on the music-streaming site Spotify, Budweiser revealed that Beyoncé will headline the first day of the two-day festival on August 31 and Nine Inch Nails will hold things down September 1.

"One of the things on our mind was how do you top it? How do you go into year two and make sure that you're continuing to live up to the ideals of Budweiser Made in America," Paul Chibe, vice president of U.S. marketing at Anheuser-Busch, told MTV News. "Jay really did an amazing job curating the lineup."

Aside from pulling strings with the Mrs., Hov helped to gather a robust and diverse lineup that will play throughout the weekend. 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, Wiz Khalifa, Public Enemy and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will hold it down for the hip-hop set.

Queens of the Stone Age, Haim, Empire of the Sun, Imagine Dragons, Walk the Moon and Phoenix will give the festival its rock edge, while Deadmau5, Calvin Harris and Wolfgang Gartner will keep fans dancing. Miguel and Solange will also add some love to the event.

The public will be able ...
