‘Star Wars: Episode VII’: Details About New Characters Revealed

When it rains in a galaxy far, far away, it pours, I guess.

After months of official radio silence, a Disney investors call opened the flood gates on small updates about "Star Wars: Episode VII." While the info isn't exactly earth-shattering, it does have some serious implications for the upcoming installment.

It's not casting news, but I'll take what I can get. This is everything we learned about "Star Wars: Episode VII" today.

30 Years After "Return of the Jedi"
It was something that many fans just took as a given, but we now know for sure that the storytelling frame has jump forward in real time. The best part of this news is probably that there won't be any (or much) terrible aging making Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford backward or forward — if they actually appear, that is. Their children are said to be the focus of the story, and based on the casting lists so far, the 30-year leap forward works with that theory.

A Trio of Young Leads
That's right. There will be three new, young characters at the center of this trilogy, in addition to whoever comes back from Episodes IV, V and VI. From what the public has been able to piece together from casting rumors, my guess is that these roles are the parts that Jesse Plemons is up for, the one Saoirse Ronan met about and the one Lupita Nyong'o is being considered for. But there's room for error within that, like if Ronan and Nyong'o audition for the same part, or the Ronan role ...

Zedd’s ‘Find You’ Video Finds Love In A Hopeless Place

MTV News caught up with Zedd last month on the set of the video that he said was his biggest, most elaborate production to date. And he wasn't kidding.

Working with a treatment cooked up by "Clarity" director Jodeb, the "Find You" clip mixes the real world with a surreal one, much of it shot in front of a green screen with the EDM star at his keyboard on a rotating platform. "It's ... very similar to the way I approach my live shows," Zedd said of the futuristic feel of the song from the
. "I'm usually in the middle of a big image which is visuals and impression that you get, surreal stuff and beautiful colors."

The video opens in a sleek white house with lots of windows, with singers Miriam Bryant and Matthew Koma performing their parts in front of plain backdrops pulsing with geometric line drawings. But things get very colorful when the song's beat kicks in, as a riot of reds, yellows and orange burst onto the screen and the house's windows fill with flickering light pulses.

The soft-spoken star wasn't afraid to say that filming his biggest video to date made him a bit nervous. "I want it to be amazing."

And, well, it kind of is, especially when the action shifts to a concert, where the video's sad-eyed star catches a glimpse of a fellow hot female club goer and chases her on a BMW motorcycle while being trailed by a murder of crows.

The good news is she finds her in a snowy cave and ...

Jason Derulo Gives Us ‘Everything’ On New Album Talk Dirty

In early 2012, Jason Derulo suffered a "near death experience," fracturing his neck while rehearsing for an upcoming tour.

Thankfully, he recovered, and though he'd end up canceling all his dates, he still managed to release a new collection of songs last year — Tattoos, which was paired down to an EP here in the U.S.

Now, fully healed, he's just announced plans for a brand-new album, which shares its name with his biggest hit, But most importantly, after his accident, he's got a whole new outlook on life, one that springs from a seize-the-day spirit ... and one that's readily apparent on his new tracks.

"After I fractured my neck, I was like 'Man, life is too short, I just gotta be myself and live my life' ... I'm gonna have a good time and not take everything so seriously," Derulo told MTV News. "I love what I do, but for so long, I was trying to be somebody that I wasn't. When it was show time, I had to put my Jason Derulo mask on ... it was like 'Okay, now it's Jason Derulo time.'

"And life is so much easier when you just be yourself," he continued. "I broke into the industry when I was young, but now I feel so much more comfortable in my own skin, and life is so much easier like this."

Derulo said that Talk Dirty represents "a bridge" between his past and his future, his first album that shows off every facet of his personality ... which is good news for ...

‘Incredibles’ Sequel Officially In The Works: What We Want To See

The cries of "

This is the first time we've heard talk about an "Incredibles" sequel outside of Bird talking theoretically about a follow-up, so there's certainly reason to be excited. But it's worth remembering that Pixar moves pretty slowly, so we're still at least four year away from another visit with Mr. Incredible, Elastagirl, Violet, Dash and Jack Jack.

If a sequel to "The Incredibles" is officially in the pipeline after all these years, there are a few things I've been waiting a very long time to see.

The World of Super Heroes Restored
The conceit of the original "Incredibles" removed most of the superheroes from the modern world. That meant, we only got short (but hilarious) glimpses at the heroes of old. It's easy to imagine that the events of "The Incredibles" eased up the ban on supers, so let's see what new characters Bird can dream up. But, as always, no capes!

Jack Jack Grows Up
Just because it has been a decade since the original, that doesn't mean the same amount of time has passed in the world of "The Incredibles," but I really hope that's the case. Think of it like "Before Sunset," except with superheroes. Where are these characters ten years down the road? How are Mr. Incredible and Elastagirl handling middle age? How has the world changed? What has life been for Jack Jack as a pre-teen who is able to shape shift? That's a movie I want to see.

Keep It Light and Dark
Of course, a sequel should be fun, but go back and watch "The ...

EXCLUSIVE: 50 Cent Says Steve Stoute Once Urged Him Not To Sign ‘With The White Boy,’ Eminem

It's hard to imagine where 50 Cent's rap career would be if he'd never signed with Eminem, but according to the G-Unit juggernaut, music executive Steve Stoute once advised him to steer clear of Slim Shady.

"Don't do the deal with the white boy," Fif recalled Stoute telling him in a Los Angeles hotel lobby, back in 2002, right before he decided to ink with Shady, Dr. Dre's Aftermath Records and Interscope.

50 made the revelation to MTV News on Monday night during a sit-down at Eminem's Shade 45 radio station, where he taped a SIRIUS XM Town Hall with fans set to air on March 31. But although Fif was in full promotion mode for his June 3 album, Animal Ambition — his first since announcing the end of his major-label deals — Stoute has been questioning whether 50 has the same musical effectiveness these days.

"He hasn't had a hit in a really long time. He has not made anything musically that's changed anything in a very long time," Stoute told New York's Hot 97 last month. "I feel like he's always gearing up for something that never happens," the exec behind the VH1 documentary "The Tanning of America" added. "Hopefully, now that he's independent and there is no record company to blame, his aggressive content will get on the air."

We'll roll out more of the MTV interview Wednesday on "RapFix Live" at 4 p.m. ET/ 1 p.m. PT on MTV.com and MTV Jams, but days after the Hot 97 Q&A hit the airwaves, 50 ...

U.K. Band Rixton Are Getting Over ‘Lifetime of Broken Hearts’ On Their New EP

Sure, they caught your attention with their catchy, silly parody video but U.K. band Rixton have a whole lot more to offer.

On Tuesday (March 18) the foursome, who gained fame on YouTube with covers of songs by Taylor Swift and Katy Perry and are now MTV's Artist to Watch, released their EP Me and My Broken Heart in the U.S. through Scooter Braun's School Boy Records.

Hooking up with super-producer Benny Blanco, the four-song EP shows off the band's soulful, playful and funky vibe, which could easily be compared to Maroon 5. The standout tracks of the EP have to go to "Hotel Ceiling," a heartfelt ballad that was co-written by fellow Brit Ed Sheeran, and their first official single, "Me and My Broken Heart."

"It's basically a lifetime of broken hearts and desperation of love," drummer Lewi Morgan told MTV News.

Lead singer Jake Roche added, "It was a song that we heard straight away and we fell in love with it, and it's got a cool vibe to it."

The record also sets the tone for what's in store for this up-and-coming group, who are putting the finishing touches on their upcoming debut album. The group revealed their album, which is 90 percent completed and will drop later this year, will "take you on a bit of a journey."

"The album itself is really eclectic. There is a song on there for everyone," Morgan said, with Roche adding, "Like my mom will love it and my nan ... I think that's just because we are related."

The boys are currently ...

New ‘Maleficent’ Trailer Showcases Angelina Jolie, Dragons And Other Winged Things: Watch Now

We already walked with "once upon a dream, and now we can watch another full trailer for the upcoming Disney reboot, no strolling required.

Yes, today we got two more minutes of the be-horned Angelina Jolie playing the villainous Maleficent, foe of Elle Fanning's Princess Aurora, Sleeping Beauty herself.

In the new clip, there are the old familiar tropes — 16th birthday, curse of the eternal nap, beasties, yadda yadda — but there's also something decidedly new: Hey, look, everyone, Angelina Jolie has wings now!

"I had wings once," she intones darkly. "They were strong. But they were stolen from me."

Whether the following shots of Jolie swooping around on massive, dark wings are a flashback or a foretelling of Maleficent snatching those bad boys right back, one thing is for certain: They are fierce.

Oh, and pardon us while we try and creep away without anyone noticing while she cackles like a crazy person after mentioning the evil, hatred and revenge in the world. Um, bye? Bye!

"Maleficent," starring Jolie and Fanning, and directed by Robert Stromberg, is set to hit theaters May 30.

EXCLUSIVE: Check Out The Striking Cover For Crisis Of Faith Novel ‘Rumble’

YA author Ellen Hopkins first started conceptualizing her new book "Rumble" — for which we have the exclusive cover reveal — after a fan called her out on Facebook.

"I'm a Lutheran with spiritual leanings, and there were some mosque burnings in the news," she told MTV News. "I posted on my Facebook page, 'We all serve one creator,' meaning Jews, Muslims, Christians, people are agnostic. That's how I feel. And this girl who was 16 came back at me and she said, 'It's awfully arrogant of you to assume that I need to have a belief in anything.'"

The statement fascinated Hopkins, who recalled her own teenage years as being an explorative time in which big questions were asked rather than answered.

"The story grew out of that," she said. "The conflict is that the Atheist falls in love with the Evangelical Christian girl, but the driving conflict is that some of his friends actually bullied his little brother into suicide."

Matthew Turner, the aforementioned Atheist, decides to live with abandon after his brother's death, only to be awoken by a mysterious "rumble" that Hopkins described cryptically as "something that he hears that makes things make sense to him."

"His big thing is that he bears some guilt," she added. "He could have come home earlier to save his brother, but he was with his girlfriend and by the time he got home his brother had done it. So how do you find forgiveness that you really, really need when that person is gone? So the rumble is around that. ...
