Listen To G-Unit Drop Verses Over YG’s ‘Who Do You Love?’

by 20 mins ago

50 Cent promised us a G-Unit mixtape before an official reunion album drops later this year, and at the rate that they’re releasing new music, that tape should be ready very soon.

For their second release in three days, the Unit jacks another DJ Mustard beat, rapping over YG’s “Who Do You Love?” and dropping it just in time for July 4 BBQs. Previously, they decided to spit over Mustard production on “Don’t Tell Em,” and now we’re starting to wonder if he’ll be involved in production on the official LP.

Guess we’ll find out soon enough. Listen to G-Unit’s “Who Do You Love (remix)” above, and also check out their freestyle over “Move That Dope.”

Why’d Lil Wayne Shout Out Jay Z On D’usse? Because ‘Hov Is Da God’

We can’t start an official countdown to the release of Tha Carter V — since it could drop in July, August, or September — but, in the meantime, we can enjoy the fact that Lil Wayne is spazzing on every new track he drops. That includes his freestyle on “D’usse” where he gave an unexpected shout out to Jay Z.

And if you were wondering why he name-dropped Hov, well, the answer is pretty simple.

“Hov is da god — I’ll give Hov a big shout out at all times,” Wayne told MTV News on the set of his “Krazy” video in LA this week. “But we was just on that D’usse heavy. I don’t write none of my music — I don’t write it down, so I just go in there and say whatever come to my mind.”

“So what came to my mind that night, was what was on my mind that night,” he added, laughing.

Any chance this indicates a Jay feature on Tha Carter V, then? “I’m not gon’ bother that guy,” Wayne responded, still not ruling it out completely. “I’m not gon’ bother him. He seems like he’s pretty busy right now, but — you never know.”

Believe Me” was the first official single from the album, followed by “Krazy,” and most fans will agree that Wayne is in prime shape right now. When asked what changed between I Am Not A Human Being II and Carter V recording sessions, Wayne said he’s just rapping to suit each ...

Lil Wayne Premieres His Daughter Reginae’s First Video ‘Mind Goin’ Crazy’

by 17 mins ago

Every installation of “Weezy Wednesdays” doesn’t actually have to be about Lil Wayne, right? This week, Tunechi shared the love by premiering his daughter Reginae Carter‘s new music video, “Mind Goin Crazy.”

Reginae is one of the most recent Young Money signees, so dad decided to give her the spotlight this time around, giving a shout out to all the “Reginators,” and telling them to look for her album Becoming Reginae. It’s clear from the colorful clip that Daddy taught her how to stunt, and if you weren’t up on ‘hairfinity,’ you will be after watching this.

Earlier this week, Weezy tried to give MTV News the official drop date of his anticipated Tha Carter V album, but he couldn’t exactly figure it out.

“I’m so not good with that,” Wayne said. “I think it drops either in September and then we have…ah I can’t tell you the sneak thing. Anyway, yeah, I think it drops in September or August.”

“[Or] It might drop before then, in July,” he added. “[Or] August 25 or something like that?” He also plans to drop Da Other Album this year. Hear him explain it all in the video below.

The-Dream Takes A Stand Against Injustice In ‘Black’ Video

by 12 mins ago

The-Dream treated us to plenty of sexually explicit visuals on his last album, IV Play, but in the new video for “Black,” he has a much deeper message to share. He first revealed the lyric video in the midst of uproar over Donald Sterling’s racist comments, and the full clip coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, capturing the spirit of that pivotal era.

Set in South Africa’s Langa Township, the video finds The-Dream surrounded by protesters in a march, carrying signs that represent a number of different causes, ranging from Occupy Wall Street to calls for a free Ukraine.

People of all shapes, colors, genders and sexual orientations are represented in the video, and we’re sure that Kanye West would be especially proud of the banner that reads, “classism is the new racism.”

“I needed to take a step in a direction away from my comfort zone and do and say and sing something worthwhile,” The-Dream said in a statement about his video.

“I think this way all the time, and I spend most of my day in the battle of being Black and being a minority. Money has not changed my status in the department of racism and or classism. I take a step in this direction in order to no longer ignore the real part of life that exists after I walk out of a studio, after I take an award at a show, and after I drop my kids off ...

Nicki Minaj Genuinely Meant ‘No Shade’ During Her BET Awards Speech

by 31 mins ago

Nicki Minaj gave a pretty profound speech at the BET Awards on Sunday night, when she accepted the trophy for Best Female Hip Hop Artist — but she’s really not feeling the way she says her words were twisted and interpreted afterwards.

During the speech, Nicki emphasized that she has always written her own lyrics (something she’s very proud of), and that was interpreted as a slight to Iggy Azalea, after that whole Forbes article fiasco. This didn’t go unnoticed by the YMCMB rapper, who took to Twitter on Wednesday (July 2) to address the negativity.

“The media puts words in my mouth all the time and this is no different. I will always take a stance on women writing b/c I believe in us!” she wrote. “I believe we’re smart enough to write down our own thoughts and perspective, just like the men do. I’ve been saying this for 5 YEARS.”

“I fell in love with Lauryn Hill b/c I knew she was the author behind those amazingly profound and articulated songs on the MisEducation,” Nicki continued. “I wondered how Lauryn tapped into my brain and wrote an album on love, betrayal, passion, pain, triumph, brokenness…. Did she read minds?”

“It’s the same reason I have a different level of respect for Missy. I know she’s a writer and a producer. Women MUST aspire for more.”

And as for all the talk about her throwing shade at Iggy? “I’ve congratulated Iggy on the success of Fancy, publicly. She should ...

Diddy, Meek And French Filmed A Video For ‘We Dem Boyz’ Without Wiz Khalifa

by 10 mins ago

Dropping freestyles over another rappers’ beat is pretty routine, but only Diddy would remix someone else’s track (without them on it) and take the extra step of dropping a video (with a real budget) for his version of the song.

He premiered his remix of Wiz Khalifa’s “We Dem Boyz” in mid-June, with verses from Meek Mill and French Montana, and on Wednesday (July 1) he dropped the accompanying visuals.

There’s not much we can tell you that you don’t already expect: lots of bikini clad women, luxury cars and numerous bottles being popped. Check out the video below.

Diddy is currently prepping his Money Making Mitch album for release. He and Meek recently took a trip to the Swiss Alps for his “I Want the Love” video.

Justin Bieber And Johnny Manziel Can’t Party Without Cops Interrupting

by 33 mins ago

Because even the cops can’t put an end to this kind of party. Justin Bieber and Johnny Manziel could both benefit from keeping their names out of the press for just a few days, but apparently it’s impossible when you live this kind of lifestyle.

Biebs threw a big bash at his home in Beverly Hills on Sunday night, which Manziel attended, along with other stars that included Floyd Mayweather, Tyga, Tyrese and Chantel Jefferies (where was Selena Gomez — didn’t he learn anything from bible study?)

According to TMZ cops showed up twice to keep things under control. The first time, they responded to noise complaints, and the second time neighbors were disturbed by the mob of screaming girls outside of Bieber’s place.

We know Manziel was in attendance thanks to the photos Bieber posted on his Shots.com account.

And the timing of this is pretty funny, considering that less than a week ago Manziel complained that his Cleveland Browns teammates were tired of answering questions about his party life. Well, Johnny Football, it looks like the questions might never end.

Did Lil Wayne Just Announce Tha Carter V Release Date? We’re Confused

by 23 mins ago

Lil Wayne has been teasing us with great singles from Tha Carter V, including “Believe Me” featuring Drake and most recently, “Krazy.” So when MTV News caught up with Tunechi on the “Krazy” video set in Los Angeles early Tuesday morning (July 1), we had to ask: When is the album finally dropping?

There was some confusion, but a couple of dates were thrown around.

“I’m so not good with that,” Wayne replied. “I think it drops either in September and then we have…ah I can’t tell you the sneak thing. Anyway, yeah, I think it drops in September or August.”

But what about the Drake vs. Lil Wayne tour that kicks off in mid-August? Wouldn’t the album be out before then?

“It might drop before then, in July. [Or] August 25 or something like that?” At the very least, Wayne could confirm that the album is completed — “I’m finished, I’m done” — and that he’d be dropping another project called Da Other Album two months after Tha Carter V hits stores.

“If Tha Carter was to drop in August, [DOA] would be October.”

by 5 mins ago

Hey Taylors, good news — the wait for Wiz Khalifa’s 3rd studio album is almost over. Blacc Hollywood will finally arrive on August 19, and you can probably catch a second hand high from the cover art.

Wiz officially announced the drop date on Monday (June 30), after giving fans a little teaser with his 28 Grams mixtape last month. By the time the album is released, the Pittsburgh rapper will already be on the road for his Under the Influence of Music tour with Jeezy, Tyga and Ty Dolla $ign.

He’s been steadily releasing music for the past few weeks, including the recent single “KK” featuring Juicy J and Project Pat. On the song he celebrates his own personal strain of weed.
