Remember that time Trey Songz flooded Nicki Minaj’s studio with roses, to say ‘thank you for working on my album?’ Well, it was a very sweet gesture, but Trigga is really making it difficult for other guys to impress the YMCMB rapper — and that’s exactly what he wants.

“I don’t want nobody else to impress Nicki Mianj, that’s why I sent her a couple thousand flowers,” he told MTV News on the 2014 BET Awards red carpet on Sunday (June 29).

“Nicki’s phenomenal, to see her at this point in her career… I remember when we both started and we both were trying to achieve a certain level of success, and to see her doing so well and being such a dominant woman in this game, I think it’s great,” he added.

“To be working with her again on my album, I think it’ll be one of the biggest records of my career yet again, [that] i’ll share with her. And I’m just happy we’re celebrating one another.”

With all of that said, we’re waiting for the video now. “It might happen,” he said, trying to play coy. “We might shoot a video. That’s all I’m gonna say — we might.”

So basically, yes, they will shoot a video.

Have Kim and Khole Kardashian helped bring two of our favorite rappers closer together? We already know that both French Montana and Kanye West are working on their new albums, but French reveals to MTV News that they’ve already banked a few tracks together.

French tells us that his Mac & Cheese 4 album will arrive in November, after he wraps up work on Lil Durk’s debut LP.

“Right now I’m working on Durk’s album and I’m getting my next single together, it’s about to drop next month,” he told MTV News on the 2014 BET Awards rep carpet on Sunday (June 29). [It will be] Mac & Cheese, and it’s like a follow up to all my mixtapes that I had.”

“I got Kanye on the album, I got will.i.am on the album, I’ve got Durk on the album and Chinx,” he revealed.

And what’s it been like working with Yeezy? “I love it — we’ve been working on his album and mines so we’re just going back and forth.”

So far, French says that they’ve banked about five tracks, and it seems like we’ll be hearing the first one on his project.

When he’s not in the studio, French is busy with his new boo, Khloe Kardashian.

We’re going to need a little more clarity on Young Thug’s label situation. Although the ATL rapper is clearly affiliated with the Cash Money/Young Money family, there was also talk of him being signed to Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles’ 300 label – but now Thugga is defining his situation his way.

“We signed forever,” he told MTV News of his Young Money affiliation on Sunday (June 29) when he walked the red carpet at the 2014 BET Awards. “It’s not no 300, it’s not no 100, 250 — whatever you call it, it’s a lifetime warranty, you dig? It’s in and out. Blood in, blood out.”

And since he’s Young Money all day, you can expect to hear him on upcoming music with both Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne.

“I’m gonna do something for my project and [Nicki’s] project because we’re family and it wouldn’t be right if I just did hers, and it won’t be right if she just did mine,” he told MTV News on the BET Awards red carpet Sunday evening (June 29).

And what about a Weezy collaboration? “Yes, of course. I recorded a million tracks with Wayne already,” he said. (A million — how do you even divide that up into albums?)

The 21-year-old wouldn’t give a drop date for his anticipated #HiTunes album, only revealing that Birdman would be executive producing the project.

“We’re not in a rush to put out no album,” Birdman explained. “We wanna do what we wanna do and really flex what he’s doing. An album ain’t what’s important ...

Earlier this month, there were very mixed reactions to news that Disney Star Zendaya would play Aaliyah in an upcoming biopic, but none of that matters now, since the 17-year-old has officially dropped out of the project.

Zendaya told MTV News that the film was being pieced together too quickly, and she no longer wanted to be a part of it.

“I just felt the project wasn’t 100 percent there. I feel [that] production wise everything just felt a little rushed,” she told MTV News on the BET Awards red carpet on Sunday evening (June 29).

“And I think because she’s someone I admire and I love so much, it can’t be done halfway, or not to the standards I think it should be done at, so I just decided not to do it,” Zendaya said, adding that she would still be up to the task of playing Aaliyah further down the road.

“By all means, when the right project comes along and it’s done the right way I’ll be the first person ready to play Aaliyah, but this wasn’t the right one for me. I’ve been into Aaliyah since I was little, so there wasn’t too much getting into character. I always pretend I’m her anyway.”

“106 & Park” host Keshia Chante was also in consideration in the role, but so far there have been no details on which actress will replace Zendaya for the part.

The countdown is on. We’re exactly one week away from the July 4 debut of Gucci Mane’s Trap House 4 album, and MTV News is premiering his first single, “Top in the Trash,” which includes a feature from Chief Keef.

Gucci and his Brick Squad affiliate trade bars over a catchy beat from Mike Will Made It, serving up a little appetizer from the project.

Gucci is currently facing a 20-year sentence for weapons possession charges, but that hasn’t derailed his output. Most recently he dropped “Panoramic Roof,” featuring Young Thug and in addition to Trap House 4, he also plans to release Trap God 3 in September.

Lil Wayne clearly doesn’t like to leave us feeling unsatisfied. This week, for the latest installation of “Weezy Wednesdays,” we got a very brief snippet of a new track called “Krazy,” and 24 hours later, he decided to just drop it in full.

Actually, he had LA Clippers star Chris Paul drop the new track, since he’s all about having athletes involved in Tha Carter V roll out plan.

Over the Infamous beat, Wayne gives a shout out to his boys over on Rikers Island and reminds everyone that he, “Ain’t got nuttin’ left to prove unless I gotta prove it in court/ Live fast, die young and leave a beautiful corpse.”

We still don’t have a release date for Tha Carter V but Wayne recently announced that he plans to drop yet another project in 2014.

“This year, not only will I be dropping Tha Carter V— I’m dropping two albums,” he said. “This year, [be] looking forward to two albums from me because I been out the game for a second.”

The G-Unit reunion is in full swing, with multiple releases over the past few weeks, and fans can expect all of those tracks to end up on a mixtape very soon. 50 Cent tells MTV News that the Unit definitely plans to drop a full tape.

“You’ll see a mixtape come out before [the album],” he explained. “The material that you see us putting out, it’s just getting back to the way we did it from the very beginning. We’re gonna start over and work like we need a record deal.”

“But while we’re putting out that music, we’re making the coolest original content and letting that be there for the actual album.”

Fif explained that he, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck and Tony Yayo are still trying to lock down the vibe of their upcoming reunion album.

“We’re still trying to find the song that defines the record and then we’ll be able to work off that record,” he said. “The formula we used to make albums in the past [is] I’d actually come up with one joint, one song that kinda felt like, ‘This is what the record should be like,’ and then sequence the rest of the record to follow that.”

“We’ve got some interesting stuff already, [and] it doesn’t take long because having that many moving parts, creatively everybody kinda keeps up with each other.”

(Cam reveals his big features)

The first installation of Cam’ron’s “First of the Month” series is due on July 1, and although his recent tracklist doesn’t mention anything about Nicki Minaj, we know that we’ll hear them on a record together pretty soon.

On Wednesday night, Cam posted a video featuring a new Nicki verse, but of course the visuals and the captions had nothing to do with the song. Instead, he decided to go in on his manager, and then side-note that we were listening to Nicki.

“Yo!!! Why I pulled up on my manager @britishthetitan and he driving da #S63,” he joked. “How much am I paying u exactly n—?!! And don’t be tryna pull off on me neither n—!!”

Although Cam was light on details in this post, he did reveal to MTV News last month that a Nicki Minaj collaboration will be part of his “First of the Month” series, so we’ll stay tuned.

Common reunited with No I.D. to work on his upcoming album Nobody’s Smiling, but Dion wasn’t the only Chicago artists who’s imprint will be on the project. On Wednesday (June 25), Common debuted several covers for the album, featuring different Chi-Town artists, including Lil Herb, King Louie, Dreezy and more.

While Common’s face is featured on the standard covert art, the deluxe versions features himself, King Louie and Lil Johnny, and other renditions include solo shots of the artists.

“The album covers from Nobody’s Smiling — the concept came from the staff at Def Jam who was like, ‘Man, we got this idea about having different people from Chicago on your covers,’” Common explained.

“Why I was super geeked about it, is because you got Lil Herb up against the background, you got King Louie up against the background,” he continued. “I’m on one cover but then for them to be on another cover…Lil Herb, Dreezy, Lil Bibby…I got a lot of artists from Chicago and I feel like it’s my time to do that.”

The artwork is very fitting, since the album title was inspired by Common’s hometown, where violence continues to rip the city apart.

“I feel like a new artist because I created this album with the purpose to give back to my city and to the culture of hip-hop,” he said. “Def Jam is part of the foundation of hip-hop and being able to work with No I.D. was returning to my ...

So Trigga isn’t just romantic in his music then? Trey Songz exclusively premiered the stream of his new album on MTV Tuesday, which includes the track “Touchin’ Lovin’” featuring Nicki Minaj. To say thanks for working with him, Trey sent the YMCMB rapper a really old fashioned thank you note.

A helluva lotta roses (you try to count), which Nicki found spread across her recording space.

“Walked into the studio to this. Whoa! U rlly shldnt have @treysongz,” she wrote along with a photo on Instagram. “I’m playing, u should have. Lol. Listen to our song #TouchinLovin.”

Somewhere between all of those roses, there was also a note that read, “I’m a lil late on the Rosé , so I got you these roses instead. Nicki I love you!!! So proud of you. Your growth is inspiring and beautiful to watch. Very happy and honored for us to do it again.”

Nicki posted it on Instagram, returning the sentiment. “The honor is all mine, Trey,” she wrote. “Thank u. #BottomsUp #TouchinLovin.”
