Hear This Snippet Of Wiz Khalifa’s ‘We Dem Boyz Remix’

by 06/05/14

Wiz Khalifa is riding high with his current single “We Dem Boyz,” but Mister Cap plans to take things a level higher on the song’s upcoming remix.

On Tuesday, just two days following his Hot 97 Summer Jam performance, Wiz told the station that he plans to drop a new “We Dem Boyz” remix with Nas, then on Wednesday he previewed a small piece of the song on his Instagram.

These days, the majority of rap remixes feature MCs delivering new verses over the same (or similar) beat to the original, but Wiz switched it up. With this new version, the Taylor Gang captain chose a slower instrumental, and instead of chanting “we dem boyz” he’s now singing the popular lyric with more harmony.

On May 26, while Wiz was out performing at the Soundset Festival, he took a IG pic with Nas and announced the remix earlier this week.

“You know why I got Nas man,” he said during his Hot 97 interview on Tuesday. “Nas is the original bottle-popper, designer clothes-rocker, weed smoker, young, fly n—a. He was doin’ all that, spittin’. He was puttin’ it out there in a way, n—as never heard that before. And I feel like our generation they need to re-see that from Nas.”

50 Cent Wants A Role In ‘Star Wars’: 8 Things We Learned From Him This Week

by 06/04/14

It’s been just about five years since 50 Cent last dropped an album, but in the lead-up to his latest Animal Ambition LP, the Southside Jamaica, Queens rap star has been everywhere and speaking on everything.

Fif reunited with his estranged G-Unit crew at Hot 97′s Summer Jam on Sunday, may or may not have witnessed a robbery on stage, dropped his album on Tuesday, followed by a pair of freestyles with Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Young Buck.

He’s also granted interviews to Hot 97 and “Good Day Philadelphia” and did an AMA Reddit session, fielding questions about his terrible first-pitch at CitiField last week and his relationship with his son.

It’s been pretty hard to keep up, but luckily we got you covered. Here are the broad strokes.

50

1. About That G-Unit Reunion
50 told New York City on-air jock Angie Martinez that his group reunion started with Young Buck. After bringing the Memphis, Tennessee, spitter into the fold, he then rounded up Banks and Yayo for the surprise Summer Jam reunion. But when asked about Game, Fif simply responded: “Oh, no.”

G-Unit

2. A G-Unit Album Is On The Way
“Yes, you’ll see an album by late November,” 50 confirmed with “Good Day Philadelphia.”

Slow

3. Slow Getting Robbed At Summer Jam
Slow, one half of New York clothing designers Slowbucks, was reportedly robbed for his chain on the Summer Jam stage while 50 was rapping with Fabolous — not ...

Trey Songz Can’t Wait For You To Hear What Justin Bieber Sounds Like On ‘Foreign’

by 06/03/14

When it comes to R&B music, Trey Songz has proven himself a master.

Whether he’s the life of the party on tracks like “Say Ahh” or romancing the ladies on his new single “Na Na,” Songz has rarely looked for help from other singers, but when it came time to collaborate with Justin Bieber on his new album, Trigga Trey just couldn’t pass the chance up.

“I’m elated for people to hear how he sounds on it, because the first reaction I get from a lot of people is: ‘Who is that?’ Because you don’t expect him to be on a record like that,” Songz told MTV news on Monday.

The record that Trey references is the “Foreign” remix, that will appear on his Trigga LP when it drops on July 1.

“It’s incredible. We’ve seen Justin Bieber grow in the last few years. People have a lot of opinions on how he’s chosen to live his life in a lot of ways, but one thing we can’t deny is that musically he’s evolved,” Trey said. “Last year he went out on an edge and made the world — basically — accept him doing R&B.”

Bieber started as a squeaky clean pop kid, but as he’s grown, he’s developed an edge to him musically and in his life outside of the booth. The Biebs is currently in the middle of a controversy after an old video surfaced of him telling a racially-insensitive joke surfaced online on Sunday. Justin has since apologized, and Songz ...

‘Catfish’ Sleuth Nev Schulman Has Gotten So Gangsta In Season 3

by 06/03/14

We’re not sure what’s gotten into Nev Schulman lately, but we kinda like it.

For two seasons of “Catfish,” the super-sleuth and his partner-in-crime, Max Joseph, criss-crossed the country righting the Internet’s wrongs using compassion and reverse Google image searches, but along the way, Nev seemed to have learned that in order to effectively take down digital gangstas, he had to become one himself. Now, well into Season 3, Nev is taking no prisoners.

Consider last Wednesday’s episode, for example, when Nev snatched scam artist Kidd Cole’s phone straight out of his hand and threw it into the Potomac.

“I like that case,” Nev said slyly, before prompting Cole to give him a closer look.

Next thing you know, our “Catfish” hero had swiped the phone and chucked it into the water!

Maybe Nev’s newfound gangsta attitude has something to do with his recent Rocawear endorsement, or maybe he’s just sick of having to console unfortunate victims of heartbreak. Either way, he has our full support.

+ What do you think of Gangsta Nev? Sound off, and catch a new episode of “Catfish” Wednesday night at 10/9c.

Watch Rihanna Twerk In Her See-Through Dress, YAAAAAS

by 06/03/14

What could be better than Rihanna in a see-through dress? Rihanna twerking in a see-through dress, that’s what.

The Bajan beauty made jaws drop when strutted her stuff in a sheer Adam Selman dress at the 2014 CFDAs on Tuesday, and then made her booty drop with a celebration twerk later that evening.

Hair and image consultant Yusef (yes, he goes by just one name like Rihanna), captured the moment and posted it to Instagram last night.

“The way we celebrate after a beautiful night or should I say the second half of a beautiful night #cdfaicon,” he captioned the vid.

At the start of the 15-second clip, Rih walks into a room as members of her team cheer her on, after winning a fashion icon award. To celebrate, the Good Girl Gone Bad hiked up her dress slightly, grabbed onto a table, arched her back and gave us nine booty pumps — yes we counted.

Now, we’re just praying Instagram doesn’t take it down.

Did Trey Songz Predict Chris Brown’s Jail Release With His ‘Free Breezy’ Summer Jam Chant?

by 06/02/14

We already know that Trey Songz is a tremendous singer, but Trigger is also a great friend and a possible prophet.

On Sunday, the veteran vocalist performed at Hot 97′s annual Summer Jam concert and blew away the crowd, singing tracks like “Na Na” and “Dive In,” and he even found time during his set to salute his homey Chris Brown and had his DJ play Breezy’s “Loyal.”

“Say free CB,” he said, encouraging the crowd to show their love for Brown, who ended up being released from jail early on Monday (June 2).

“Summer Jam, they said ‘Free Breezy’ and the boy’s home. What do you know,” Songz told MTV News today, bragging about his clairvoyance.

Now, it is entirely possible that Trey knew Brown would be freed hours after he left the stage, but whatever the case, he is very clear about his admiration for his pal. “Chris, I know what he must be going through,” Songz told us. “To have all this music that you’re creating and the world loving it. He got a big record out right now that he can’t even perform. So when I talk to him I let him know that I’m out there repping for you.”

Trigga Trey wasn’t the only one showing love to Chris; Sevyn Streeter, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne all performed their own separate renditions of select Breezy songs.

Maybe it was the “Free CB” chant, or the work of his lawyers, but Brown was released today after serving 108 days ...

Someone Got Their Chain Snatched Onstage At 50 Cent’s Summer Jam Show: See The Video

by 06/02/14

50 Cent gave fans plenty to talk about on Sunday night when he graced the stage at Hot 97′s annual Summer Jam concert in New Jersey. Not only did Fif reunite his G-Unit group, he also performed while someone got robbed for their chain on stage.

MTV News was on hand to witness the concert and scuffle, but couldn’t positively identify who was involved in the fracas. A video which was posted to AllHipHop.com’s YouTube page on Monday morning, shows a person getting their chain snatched, but the victim falls out of frame and is unidentifiable.

A second, video posted by popular rap site RealTalkNY, doesn’t provide a clear picture either. The incident took place while 50 and Fabolous performed a remix to “Cuffin’ Season” for the first time. A number of media outlets are reporting that a person affiliated with the clothing company Slowbucks and the rap group SBOE, was the one that was robbed, but that has not been confirmed.

In April, Slow, Bucks (from Slowbucks) and known 50 Cent-adversary Trav took an Instagram photo with Fif’s son Marquise. The photo upset the G-Unit boss, who left a comment under the pic. “This picture was a bad idea,” he wrote.

MTV News reached out to representatives from G-Unit and SBOE, but have not received any information as of press time.

Lil Wayne Has Words For Justin Bieber’s Manager Scooter Braun, And They Aren’t Very Nice

by 05/26/14

Justin Bieber and Lil’ Twist used to be the best of friends, but the two have seen their fair share of drama over the past year.

In 2013, Twist either moved or was kicked out of Bieber’s Calabasas, California home, after Justin and his boys had a series of run-ins with the law. The Young Money rapper was often painted in the media as a bad influence and now his YMCMB boss, Lil Wayne, is ready to take up for his artist — and he has Beiber’s manager Scooter Braun in his sights.

“I heard this bitchass n—a Scooter talkin’ sh– about my little brother,” Weezy said to the camera, in a new viral video, with his arm around Twist in a show of solidarity.

The video was shot by longtime Young Money director and documenatrian DJ Scoob Doo, and published exclusively on his website Bread Over Bed on Monday (May 26).

“N—a this my motherf—in’ brother, anything you got to say, when you see me say it to my motherf—in’ face,” an irate Wayne continued. “And if you do happen to say it to my motherf—in’ face, I ain’t gonna make you eat them words n—a, I’ma put them bitches on your tombstone.”

At the end of the 56-second clip Tunechi signs off with a vicious: “F— you Scooter!”

In November Twist took to Twitter and blasted Braun, accusing him of putting fake stories in the media that were meant to discredit Twist and make Bieber look ...

Nicki Minaj Is ‘Obsessed’ With Jay Z, That’s Why She Named Her Album Pink Print

by 05/21/14

The countdown for Nicki Minaj‘s The Pink Print has officially begun. On Wednesday (May 21), the reigning rap queen released the album’s first single, “Pills n Potions,” and revealed part of her inspiration for the upcoming LP.

“I think everybody knows how obsessed I am with Jay Z. He’s always been my favorite rapper — him and Wayne,” Nicki started to explain when she sat down with Big Boy’s Neighborhood on Power 106 in Los Angeles earlier today.

“He did such a great job of creating this Blueprint brand for male rappers, I felt. And I studied a lot of his blueprint, just in terms of becoming a mogul,” Nicki added.

Hov released his first The Blueprint album in 2001, a 13-track LP considered a classic by many rap fans. Jay then followed up with The Blueprint 2 a year later and The Blueprint 3 in 2009; the series of albums have become synonymous with the MC’s brand and help him become the businessman he is today.

With The Pink Print, Nicki hopes to set her own standard in hip-hop. “I wanted to do that, I wanted to be like Jay Z. I felt like with what I’m doing, I want female rappers to be able to pattern themselves with what I’ve done one day,” she said. “And I think the album is soooo classic, it’s gonna feel so good and it will probably be one that female rappers will look to as a ‘pink print’ for years to come.”

Fat Joe’s ‘Another Day’ Video Raises Kidnapping Awareness

by 05/18/14

Fat Joe has always represented for his hood but with his new video, Don Cartagena tells a drastically different story.

“Another Day,” which premiered Sunday (May 18), on MTV Jams as the station’s Jam of the Week, features Joe, Rick Ross, French Montana and Tiara Thomas. If the track sounds familiar to you, there’s a reason: it draws inspiration from Queen Latifah’s 1993 single “Just Another Day.”

While Tiara Thomas and French rework the memorable hook, Joe Crack spits about the ills of the world with a focus on children who have been kidnapped. “All I hear is sirens, the sound of guns blasting/ A little girl is missing but ain’t nobody asking,” he raps compassionately.

At the close of the video, the MTV2 “Off the Bat” host flashes a few key statistics across the screen. According to Joe’s estimation, 2,000 children go missing every day and 42 percent of missing children are African American and 28 percent are hispanic.
