This Kid’s Teeth Look Like The Batman Symbol

by 24 mins ago

“Some are born Batman, some achieve Batman, and some have Batman thrust upon them,” Shakespeare kind of said this one time. For Reddit user cptnblck‘s nephew, Batman was almost certainly thrust upon him — right on his teeth, in fact.

At first glimpse this photo might look like your everyday, pre-braces kid’s smile, but when you really look at it, there he is — the caped crusader himself. (Or, at the very least, Commissioner James Gordon trying to get him to show up.)

Right between and under the upper and lower central incisors, in addition to the adjacent lateral incisors and cuspids, you can clearly see the Dark Knight’s famous symbol on display. I don’t know what this says about this child, his future, and the destiny of mankind itself, but I really hope this kid’s parents never, ever take him to the orthodontist.

Still don’t see it? Here…

‘Sons Of Anarchy’: 6 Things We Learned From The Season 7 Premiere

by 9 mins ago

Can you believe it’s almost time for the final season of “Sons of Anarchy?” For six years we’ve happily jumped on board for Kurt Sutter’s messy, chaotic roller coaster ride of a show, and on Tuesday, December 2, that ride will finally come to an end — but not before a few more twists, turns, and upside-down loop things, of course.

MTV News has screened the show’s September 9 premiere, which (season six spoiler alert!) picks up only a couple of weeks after Jax’s wife Tara was brutally murdered by the show’s matriarch, Gemma. It’s an explosive — but also kind of meditative? — start for the season, and needless to say, we’re already chomping at the bit for more.

We obviously can’t disclose the nitty gritty details, but we do want to share the wealth, so here are six things to know about the season premiere of “Sons of Anarchy”:

Um, It’s Dark

SoA_701_BlackWidower_0377_hires1FX

Does this one seem like a no-brainer? A no-brainer like how Tara has no more brains after Gemma stabbed them with a giant fork?

Yeah, Tara’s death looms heavy over everyone in the season premiere, which I’m sure you can all understand. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some moments of levity — a couple of them even involve Juice, which is insane given his current life situation — but from the moody, violent opening montage to the, well, moody, violent closing montage, everything that’s happened over the past six years is getting to SAMCRO like never ...

Your Favorite ‘Game Of Thrones’ And ‘OITNB’ Stars Are Doing A Play Together

by 25 mins ago

Have you ever watched Taylor Schilling play Piper Chapman on “Orange is the New Black” and been like, “man, I bet she’d be a really great scene partner for ‘Game of Thrones’ star Peter Dinklage”? No? Just us?

Well, regardless, fans of HBO’s genre sensation and Netflix’s prison sensation will be pleased to learn that Schilling will indeed star alongside Dinklage, in a play in New York City’s East Village. Dinklage will play the Rakitin to Schilling’s Natalya in Ivan Turgenev’s “A Month in the Country,” which will run from Jan. 9 to Feb. 15, 2015, at the Classic Stage Company. (You can sign up for their newsletter for ticket sale alerts.)

Dinklage’s character is in love with Schilling’s character and, well, you can ask Alex and Crazy Eyes how well that worked out for them.

Also, in related news, Poussey is set to do “Waiting For Godot” with King Joffrey.*

This 6-Year-Old Is The Best, Most Adorable Theater Critic Ever

by 12 mins ago

World, meet Iain Armitage. Iain Armitage, meet world.

Many of you might envision New York theater critics as a bunch of highfalutin fuddy-duddys like these guys, but this six-year-old theater maniac is here to prove that the Great White Way has a little something for everyone. (Except for “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” of course, which is not appropriate for those in Iain’s age range.)

Armitage — who is the son of actor Euan Morton, who famously played Boy George on Broadway, and producer Lee Armitage — has been filming glorious, too precocious for words reviews of the shows he regularly takes in with his family, and his mother has been capturing the footage on her YouTube account. (H/T to Nick Walsh for the heads up.)

We think his opinions are pretty spot-on — and also out-of-this-world adorable — so feel free to watch some of our favorite reviews if you’re thinking about heading up to NYC for a show anytime soon, or if you just really like things that are cute. (Be sure to check out his rant about not being allowed to see “Hedwig” since it’s essentially the cutest thing we’ve seen all week.)

On “Les Miserables”

“It was a feelings show. They put a lot of feelings.”

On “Sundays in the Park With George”

“It’s kind of about two different shows put together in one. One part is about the George who does paintalism, I mean pointillism. The second part is about George in more modern times. ...

Benedict Cumberbatch Will Again Play A Villainous Khan

by 16 mins ago

“Khaaaaaaaan!”

Actually, make that, “Shere Khaaaaaaaan!”

Okay, okay, so Benedict Cumberbatch isn’t exactly reprising his “Star Trek Into Darkness” Khan at this point in time. But he is lending his impressive vocal talents to the upcoming Warner Bros. adaptation of “The Jungle Book” playing — you guessed it — the villainous tiger Shere Khan. You know, this guy:

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Cumberbatch’s casting on August 19, and the headlines essentially wrote themselves since, you know, Khan. The film will be directed by the motion capture god among men Andy Serkis, and is based on Rudyard Kipling’s short stories that were famously adapted by Disney in 1967.

Interestingly enough, another sexy Brit — Idris Elba — will also voice Shere Khan in a competing Jon Favreau film that is already fully cast. What’s also interesting is that Cumberbatch’s version of the talking, man-eating tiger is actually an engineered super-tiger who initially went by the name of John Harrison.

Just kidding.

Carrie Moves On In New ‘Homeland’ Season 4 Trailer

by 8 mins ago

["Homeland" Season 3 spoilers ahead!]

“Homeland” is officially almost back, and with it a blank slate after the show killed off one of its two leads, Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), at the end of last year.

It’s a widely accepted feeling that Brody’s presence on the show became unrealistic after everyone learned of his treachery — and his family’s problems became burdensome as the plot line continued to drag — so we’re thrilled-slash-cautiously optimistic at the prospect of Carrie Matheson (Claire Danes) starting anew.

“It hasn’t been a 14-year war we’ve been waging, but a one-year war, waged 14 times,” a tired Saul (Mandy Patinkin) voice-overs as Carrie takes on a new field position in the Middle East (the fourth season is set in Islamabad and Kabul).

In addition to the dangerous new setting, the trailer also reveals a first look at Carrie and Brody’s baby, a peek at Corey Stoll as the CIA station chief in Pakistan, and footage of Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) having what appears to be some sort of alcohol-fueled meltdown.

“Homeland” returns with back-to-back episodes on Sunday, October 5.

J.K. Rowling Needs To Give These 4 ‘Harry Potter’ Characters Their Own Story

by 21 mins ago

Hey “Harry Potter” fans, in case you got knocked out by a bludger and have been lying unconscious in the hospital wing, know that J. K. Rowling released a new story today. No, it didn’t update us on the lives of Harry, Hermione, Ron, and the other 38 essential main characters we grew to love over the past two decades, but it did tell the story of one of Rowling’s favorite fringe characters, the singer Celestina Warbeck.

Warbeck, whom Rowling describes as one of her “favorite ‘off-stage’ characters in the Harry Potter series,” is given the full biography treatment in the new story, which was released on Today.com via Rowling’s Pottermore site.

We’re floored, naturally, but also getting greedy as a Gringotts robber as we imagine all of the potential Potter fringe characters that should be given the Warbeck treatment. Like these guys, for example:

1. Cuthbert Binns
Binns didn’t appear in any of the “Harry Potter” movies, much like Warbeck, but we’d be fascinated to hear the tale of the most boring man at Hogwarts. (No, seriously, that’s his legacy.)

Binns taught History of Magic until he shriveled up and died of old age — then continued to drop knowledge bombs to the likes of James Potter, Lily Evans, and Sirius Black back in the ’70s and the new class in the ’90s, just as a ghost — but he never managed to lock down a curriculum that engaged his students. Still, we’d be willing to bet that ...

Ian Somerhalder Says He ‘Couldn’t Be Happier’ Dating Nikki Reed, So Now We Cry

by 6 mins ago

Those of you who were still holding on to hope that Ian Somerhalder might get back with Nina Dobrev (or you) in the near future might want to look away, because the actor did everything but publicly propose to Nikki Reed at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday night.

E! News took on the task of asking the “Vampire Diaries” star about his trips to the farmer’s market with a “special girl” — Somerhalder and Reed have been snapped by paps during many a healthy eating outing as of late — and the actor coyly admitted that things are currently going prettttty well with his latest vampire girlfriend.

“Life is good,” he said. “There’s a lot of support and love from a lot of people. I couldn’t be happier if I tried.”

Now, this might seem like a jump to conclusions if Reed, who hasn’t appeared on television since 2007, wasn’t also walking the carpet. (And if, you know, they hadn’t been seen together in public about a zillion times before then.)

Check out (separate) shots of the couple at the Emmys below, as well as a mandatory picture of a kitten because this news is terrible and the only thing that will help is a kitten.

by 1 min ago

If every dude from improv class to Reddit boards and beyond was already head over heels in love with “Internet girlfriend” Anna Kendrick, her surprise appearance at Sunday night’s (August 17) WWE SummerSlam just took things to the next level.

Not only did Kendrick show up to the big show with an entourage to die for — AKA “Pitch Perfect 2” castmates Brittany Snow and Adam DeVine, and “Teen Wolf” star Tyler Hoechlin — but she sat front and center, cheered like a maniac, and even took time to pose backstage with fangirling referees.

It was a truly magical night that likely propelled Kendrick straight to America’s Sweetheart status, and thank God the Internet exists so we can grab hold of the evidence and keep it forever and ever:

Will There Be A Sequel To ‘The Giver’? Brenton Thwaites And Lois Lowry Weigh In

by 17 mins ago

Fans are already squealing with dystopian delight over “The Giver,” which hit theaters this weekend with Brenton Thwaites, Odeya Rush, Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, and — of course — Taylor Swift at the helm. The film took about eighteen years to come together after Bridges struggled to keep hold of the rights, but now that it’s here, we’re sure the cast and crew are busy celebrating their success and picking out a fine bottle of champagne to toast with.

… Or are they?

Everybody knows that, especially in the young adult world, it’s all about having multiple sequels these days. And fans of the novel the film was based on also probably know that Lois Lowry wrote three more books — “Gathering Blue,” “Messenger,” and “Son” — that followed the 1993 original. So when MTV News hit up the film’s New York City premiere, we just had to ask — will a return to the Community happen sometime in the next, say, eighteen years?

“That’s like asking a woman in labor if she wants to have another baby next year,” Lowry said with a laugh. “She would say ‘no,’ and yet I am a woman who had four children in four years. So maybe down the road a little bit, not too far off, maybe I could get excited about it.”

Well, that sounds like good news! However, even if “The Giver” proves to be a hit and sequels are given the go-ahead, you won’t necessarily see the same cast. Each book ...
