Get To Know Kelli Berglund, Disney’s Most BFF-Worthy New Star

by 29 mins ago

Despite the fact that at 18 years old, Kelli Berglund has three seasons of a TV series, an upcoming Disney Channel Original movie, and an impressive modeling career under her belt, she really is just like you — that is, in the completely obsessed with Ariana Grande and “Breaking Bad” type of way.

Your new BFF crush Berglund, who is wrapping up her third season of the Disney XD hit “Lab Rats” (season four will begin shooting this fall) and preparing for the August 1 release date of her movie “How To Build A Better Boy,” stopped by MTV News headquarters last week for an in-depth chat about what’s next for her TV character, her big screen dreams, and, of course, her summer obsessions.

“I really like Ariana Grande’s new song, ‘Problem,’” Berglund said. “It just gets me going. And I love Iggy Azalea… her whole album is on that [summer] playlist.”

Samesies! In case you needed more proof that Kelli was the super famous, Netflix-loving best friend you never had, check out the video below — where she tells us all about her upcoming summer concerts, her must-have playlist, and, of course, her future plans to binge-watch “Game of Thrones.”

Stay tuned for more from Kelli — including her thoughts on which Disney dudes would actually make a “Better Boy” — in the coming weeks, and watch “Lab Rats” on Disney XD on Mondays, beginning June 30.

‘Doctor Who’ Is Back With A Premiere Date, A Trailer, And Peter Capaldi

by 31 mins ago

Those of you who have been waiting since 2013′s Black Christmas for a glimmer of hope in the “Doctor Who”-verse can finally rest easy — Peter Capaldi, his eyebrows, and the TARDIS will return for a brand new series of fun and adventure on Saturday, August 23.

Per BBC America’s press release, the Twelfth Doctor’s won’t be the only (relatively) new face on the scene for series eight. Joining Jenna Coleman in companion-land will be Samuel Anderson, who is playing Clara’s coworker Danny Pink. (Great name, obviously.) Though of course, us being visual learners and all, we’re most excited about the new teaser trailer that accompanied the announcement. In the trailer, which again shows the TARDIS on fire (!!), Twelve asks Clara if she thinks that he is a good man.

“I don’t think I know who the Doctor is anymore,” she replies.

… which is great and all, but wasn’t the whole point of the 50th special to get rid of the whole genocide thing that weighed down Doctors Nine, Ten, and Eleven, and usher in a new era of Happy-Who? Either way, we’re so excited that we literally can not breathe and are therefore dying without hope of regeneration.

‘Game Of Thrones’: Why Cutting Lady Stoneheart Will Change Everything

by 24 mins ago

(Warning — Major Book Spoilers Ahead!)

When the credits rolled at the end of the season four “Game of Thrones” finale, many devoted fans of “A Song of Ice and Fire,” the book series that serves as the show’s source material probably found themselves furiously hitting that replay button. Was it something we missed?

No, no it was not. The producers very intentionally left out the Lady Stoneheart — also known as the vengeful, zombie-fied, Frey and Lannister-slaughtering resurrected corpse of Catelyn Stark — reveal that shocked ASoIaF fans to their core back when “A Storm of Swords” came out 14 years ago, and it looks like the decision to cut this game-changing character is one they’re going to stick with.

“Yeah, the character’s dead. She’s dead,” actress Michelle Fairley told Entertainment Weekly. “You respect the writers’ decision. I knew the arc, and that was it. They can’t stick to the books 100 percent. It’s impossible — they only have 10 hours per season. They have got to keep it dramatic and exciting, and extraneous stuff along the way gets lost in order to maintain the quality of a brilliant show.”

Fairley has a very solid point — the show has already benefited from cutting some extraneous plot lines and sprucing up others — but the Stoneheart character was such a big deal for the books that it’s impossible to deny that her (terrifying) presence will be missed. Also, leaving out Stoneheart, who was revived by Ser Beric Dondarrion and ...

Which ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Star Does The Cast Want To Send To SHU?

by 36 mins ago

One of the most constant (and most heartbreaking, since it’s true to life) threats on “Orange is the New Black” is, and always has been, the possibility of being sent to the secure (solitary) housing unit, popularly known as “SHU.” Piper has been there twice, Pennsatucky lost even more of her marbles during her recent stint, and it’s practically poor Watson’s second home.

So when MTV News caught up with the so-close-they’re-family cast in New York last week, we just had to ask — which of the show’s many stars has been so bad on set that they could actually use a stay in this horrible, horrible place? The answers varied, but one name was definitely heard loud and clear above all others: Natasha Lyonne, who plays “junkie philosopher” Nicky Nichols. Thankfully, Lyonne didn’t seem to mind — in fact, she wholeheartedly agreed.

“I know based on the shame I experience the morning after I work on set that there is probably something I’m doing that is not okay,” she said with a laugh. “Because I know I’m left with a dirty feeling that I did something inappropriate the day before.”

Sounds like a good time to us. Find out who else got thrown under the bus for bad behavior in the below!

A Crazy Fire Tornado Ruins Everyone’s S— In New ‘Into The Storm’ Trailer

by 18 mins ago

A lot has happened since the movie “Twister” came out in 1996, but most important for “Into the Storm” — the upcoming Steven Quale-helmed tornado disaster flick — is the fact that special effects have gotten way, way better. Like, we’re pretty sure that everyone’s former favorite movie about cray cray storm chasers heading into the eye of a deadly cyclone never featured one that is made entirely out of fire, or another, apocalyptic-looking one that seems capable of destroying an entire town in approximately eight seconds.

Hopefully, stars Sarah Wayne Callies and Richard Armitage learned enough from fighting zombies on “The Walking Dead” and Smaug in “The Hobbit” movies (respectively) that they can survive this thing, but from the looks of this trailer, we’re not so sure:

“Into the Storm” hits theaters on August 8th.

5 Reasons Why Ariana Grande’s Big Brother Is Already Winning ‘Big Brother’

by 7 mins ago

In case you missed it, birthday girl Ariana Grande rang in her 21st with a particularly emotionally gratifying night of television (the only real way to celebrate) last night (June 25). Her older brother, Frankie, made his “Big Brother” season 16 debut, and totally pulled a number on us all by winning the first competition of the season, and becoming the official “Head of Household.”

“Holy s— he won hoh i’m a mess,” Grande tweeted. “He needs to form another alliance immediately.”

But even before Frankie won the HoH competition by standing on a moving log in his underwear while being repeatedly squirted in the eyes with sunscreen (if this sounds strange to you, you clearly haven’t been watching enough “Big Brother”), he won our hearts by somehow not being the most annoying contestant introduced last night. Heck, he wasn’t even in the top five! So to celebrate the lovable Frankie and his birthday girl sister, here are some reasons why he might win season 16 of “Big Brother”:

He Has His Sister’s Twitter Army On His Side
Last season on “Big Brother,” an MVP twist earned the ire of many when the sister of popular player Rachel Reilly, Elissa Slater, won every week due to her sister’s loyal following. We don’t have that twist this year, but there is a “Team America” twist where three players will be voted into a secret, fan-controlled group that will go on “secret missions” for the show. Something tells us that Ariana’s very large and loyal ...

Emily Osment Tells Us Why ‘Young & Hungry’ Is No ‘Hannah Montana’

by 22 mins ago

When tuning in to former “Hannah Montana” star Emily Osment’s new ABC Family sitcom “Young & Hungry,” which chronicles the adventures (and pratfalls) of food blogger turned personal chef Gabi Diamond (Osment), one truly can’t help but think, “are you sure this is ABC Family?”

Because “Hungry” — despite its goofy physical humor and gorgeous, House-of-Mouse approved young cast — is decidedly a lot sexier than the network’s other fare, at least in the overt sense. Other shows might hint at sex or even show a suggestive makeout scene after the characters have been officially dating for an acceptable amount of time, but “Young & Hungry” shows Osment having sex with her boss in the very first episode. After just meeting him.

And she ends up locked in his closet after the fact, which quickly makes it clear that sex is not going to be a hot-button, handle-with-gloves issue (if at all) like it is on other young adult shows. But 22-year-old Osment — whose “Montana” audience has aged right along with her — isn’t particularly concerned about the show’s more risque content alienating the network’s core audience.

“It is physical [comedy] and it is a sitcom, but it’s older and it’s sexy and it’s funny, and it’s a different style,” she told MTV News. “It pushes the limits for ABC Family.”

EMILY OSMENT, JONATHAN SADOWSKIABC Family

However, Osment adds that any raunchy bits from the show (which is produced by “High School Musical” alum Ashley Tisdale) are ...

‘Orange Is The New Black’ Cast Tell Us What They Want For Season 3

by 22 mins ago

So much happened to the ladies of Litchfield during season two of “Orange is the New Black.” [Season two spoilers ahead.]

Taystee (Danielle Brooks) and Poussey (Samira Wiley) were torn apart by Vee (Lorraine Toussaint). Larry (Jason Biggs) cheated on Piper (Taylor Schilling) with Polly (Maria Dizzia). Morello (Yael Stone) ended up being a crazy person, Pornstache (Pablo Schreiber) ended up in jail, and poor Red (Kate Mulgrew) got hit in the face. More than once.

With all of this unfortunate crap bringing them down, MTV News decided to ask the cast if there were any good things that they wanted to happen to their characters next season, which is already in early production in New York. Of course they couldn’t offer up specific details on the goods to come, but Brooks, Wiley, Stone, Biggs, and Mulgrew (along with Selenis Leyva [Gloria], Nastasha Lyonne [Nicols], Uzo Abuda [Crazy Eyes], Laverne Cox [Sophia], and Laura Prepon [Alex]) gave some answers that just might surprise you:

Taystee and Pouseey want to reunite…

“It was rough to be torn apart. Any time you go through something like that, it’s not an overnight thing where you say, ‘okay we’re cool, we can put on our Amanda and McKenzie voices and be alright.’ There’s still healing that needs to take place between the two girls.” — Danielle Brooks

… And so do Nichols and Morello.

“I felt jealous [of Nicky's conquests], and I definitely missed the [sex] scenes. It was nice to get to come together ...

Ben Affleck Debuts Beefcake Batman Body In ‘Project Greenlight’ Promo

by 14 mins ago

It’s great that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are executive producing the HBO show “Project Greenlight” again. Really, it is. The series is a wonderful showcase for first-time filmmakers, and it gives viewers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the film-making process from start to finish.

But if you check out this promo for the upcoming season, we think you’ll understand why “Greenlight” was the last thing on our minds while Affleck and Damon were speaking — because Affleck is jacked.

We’re not exactly sure if he has a beef with Christian Bale, but he’s definitely making sure that his Batman, the Batman from the upcoming 2016 film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” is the beefiest Batman of them all. So beefy, in fact, that Jason Bourne looks like pre-Captain America transformation Steve Rogers in comparison.

Sorry, Superman — our money is officially on the other guy.

‘The Notebook’: 11 Hilarious References For The 10th Anniversary

by 14 mins ago

What’s the number one way to convey the fact that someone is either sad, in tune with his or her own feelings, or way too macho to care about romance? Well, ever since June 25, 2004, the answer to that question has been “show that person crying while watching ‘The Notebook,’ admitting that he or she cried during ‘The Notebook,’ or referencing how much he or she can’t stand ‘The Notebook,’” respectively.

It’s now officially been ten years since the iconic Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams-starrer came out, but everyone — from your favorite movies and TV shows to the actual celebs who star in them — still can’t stop referencing it. (Heck, even MTV’s own “Teen Wolf” made a “Notebook” joke. It’s an addiction!) So in honor of Gosling and McAdams’ decennial anniversary, we’ve compiled 11 of our favorite “Notebook” mentions from the past ten years:

1. ‘Saturday Night Live’ (2005)

We knew SNL digital shorts were going to be a thing when Samberg admitted, “I love those cupcakes like McAdams loves Gosling.”

2. ‘Just Friends’ (2005)

Nothing gets Reynolds fired up quite like movies starring the other Ryan.

3. ‘The Big Bang Theory’ (2010)

Howard proved himself to be heartless when he revealed that McGosling just isn’t his thing.

4. One Direction (2011)

Want to start a fight between the dudes of 1-D? Mention that you don’t like “The Notebook.”

5. ‘Horrible Bosses’ (2011)

Charlie Day’s character chooses the film as his boss-stakeout viewing material, which is an… interesting… selection.

6. ‘Teen Wolf’ (2011)

Jackson will do anything to please ...
