11 Real-Life Dolls That Are Creepier Than ‘Annabelle’

by 1 hour ago

Annabelle” creeped her way into theaters nationwide this weekend, possessing the mortal spirit of each and every sucker who was unfortunate enough to buy a movie ticket.

However, as scary as the doll who stole “The Conjuring” is, a quick search on Etsy reveals that the dolls that actual human beings actually create are a zillion times creepier than the one who gets all stabby on screen. Here are 11 of our favorites:

Meet ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ Star ‘Paul The Illustrated Seal’

by 6 mins ago

Most of the so-called “Freaks” from “American Horror Story: Freak Show” will be covered in make-up and prosthetics to achieve their two-headed or three-breasted look, but not Mat Fraser — because the actor behind “Paul the Illustrated Seal” was born with phocomelia, which is the cause of the malformed limbs that lend to the “seal” look.

“Freak means a radically different person onstage, entertaining with their radical difference,” Fraser says in this behind-the-scenes video, which “AHS” creator Ryan Murphy shared on Twitter with the hashtag, #WeAreAllFreaks. “I cannot help but exploit my physique when I’m performing. I think what’s interesting about me is my personality.”

The rest of the video, which includes footage from the new season and more interviews with Fraser, is both fascinating and inspiring, which is pretty amazing coming from a show that famously featured Ian McShane dressing up like Santa Claus and murdering people.

“For me, when you’re disabled, the two things people think you can’t do are fight and have sex,” Fraser continues. “So I’ve got a black belt, and I’m really good at shagging.”

‘The Vampire Diaries’: All The Biggest Moments On ‘I’ll Remember’

by 1 hour ago

A lot can happen in five months, as “The Vampire Diaries” just proved with a season six premiere episode that found all of our favorite (mostly former) Mystic Falls residents more lost and confused than they’ve ever been. With the town rendered inhabitable for supernatural residents and Bonnie and Damon dead and gone, Elena, Caroline, Stefan, and more were all struggling to pick up the pieces in “I’ll Remember” — while the lucky dead folk ate pancakes.

Let’s dig in!

Elena’s On The Drugs
Elena seemed remarkably calm and happy at the beginning of the night, considering the latest tragedy that had recently befallen her. However, this state of stasis was quickly revealed to be drug-related — blondie twin Luke made her an herbal witch cocktail that allowed her to somehow “talk” to Damon, at least in her own mind. (Luke second-guessed his decision, to be fair, but Elena was a junkie by the time her first pre-med class kicked off.)

Unfortunately, these drugs had one major, way worse than dry-mouth side effect: they made Elena ravenously hungry for humans, earning her the “Border-Lurker” nickname outside Mystic Falls. She nearly killed a woman before Caroline stepped in, and even Stefan told her to let it go Queen Elsa-style when she called him for a fix of Damon-talk.

Elena said goodbye to fake-Damon with an imaginary kiss, but she still couldn’t give him up. Clearly desperate, she turned to my boyfriend (and her professor) Alaric’s help, since — as he was turned by an Original ...

Matthew McConaughey’s Mission Is Revealed In Stunning New ‘Interstellar’ Trailer

by 48 mins ago

Everything we’ve seen so far from Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated “Interstellar” highly suggests that the space-stakes in the film are very, very high, but Anne Hathaway just threw Matthew McConaughey the gauntlet in this latest, probably final trailer:

“You might have to decide between seeing your children again, and the future of the human race.”

Boom. What’ll it be, Matthew? What’ll it be?

Check out the trailer — and its new, jaw-droppingly gorgeous footage that shows the end of the world as we know it — below, and we’ll see you all at the movies on November 7th:

The 9 Stages Of Finding Out There Will Be More ‘Twilight’ Movies

by 29 mins ago

Last night (September 30), everything we’ve ever known to be true was shattered when Lionsgate announced that there would be more “Twilight” on the way, specifically in a series of mini-movies helmed by aspiring female directors, which will debut on Facebook in 2015.

Related: Recapping Every ‘Twilight’ Sequel, Reboot And Spin-Off Rumor

The films will be made under the mentorship of a dynamite panel of female advisers, which includes Stephenie Meyer, Kate Winslet, Octavia Spencer, “Frozen” director Jennifer Lee, “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke, “Modern Family” actress Julie Bowen, Women In Film President Cathy Schulman, and, of course, Kristen Stewart.

This news is a lot to digest all at once, so here is our hopefully-helpful guide to understanding the nine stages of finding out there’s more “Twilight” on the way:

1. First, there’s denial. Denial that there might be more Denali.

2. Then, there’s curiosity. You start searching the Interwebs on “legitimate websites” for proof that it might actually be true.

3. … And guess what? It is true. It finally starts to sink in that it’s really, really true. For a second, you begin to panic.

4. So you grab the nearest human you can find, and hug them like there’s no tomorrow. There is simply too much joy to contain.

5. Next there’s the need to share, so you tell all of your real life AND Tumblr friends, and spurn their disbelief with the cold, hard facts. THERE’S MORE “TWILIGHT!!”

6. After that you ...

Know Your Gladers From Your Squibs With Our Glossary Of YA Movie Slang

by 7 mins ago

art by Nick DeSantis

Many of the young adult movies we’ve grown to love in recent years take place in futuristic, dystopian universes, so it’s only logical for these films (and of course, the novels that inspired them) to develop their own slang terms to differentiate their worlds from our own.

Only problem is, many of us — especially those of us who have not read the books that inspired these films — have no idea what these characters are talking about when they’re throwing around terms like “klunk,” “squib,” and “reaping” like they’re “and” or “the.”

That’s where this handy-dandy glossary comes in. Using terms from “The Hunger Games,” “Divergent,” “Harry Potter,” “The Giver,” and “The Maze Runner” — the last being the “worst” offender in terms of made-up slang — we’ve created a simple guide to all of your YA movie needs, so next time someone calls you a muggle you’ll know right then that you should slap them in the face. (Just kidding, violence is bad.)

‘Once Upon A Time’: All The Biggest Moments On ‘A Tale Of Two Sisters’

by 7 mins ago

After months of torturous anticipation, “Once Upon a Timefinally debuted its big “Frozen” premiere on Sunday (September 28), with a flashback-heavy episode that gave us the “Tale of Two Sisters” while also revealing an exciting new path for Regina, as well as a certain iconic hat that promises more Disney goodness to come.

Read on for all of the biggest moments, but be warned: spoilers (and snowmen) lie ahead!

A ‘Frozen’ Plot Gets A Makeover

ELIZABETH LAIL, GEORGINA HAIGABC

First thing’s first, Iggy Azalea is the realest. Also, on “Once Upon A Time,” the “Frozen” plot was revealed so let’s start with that.

So, as it turns out, when the King and Queen of Arendelle set off on that ill-fated boat voyage in the movie, they were really going to find something that might help Elsa’s little “problem.” The show’s version of Elsa learned about this after the events of the film and told her sister, so before Anna was able to marry Kristoff, she — despite Elsa’s objections — set off for sights unknown to get her hands on whatever it was that her parents were looking for.

Only problem is, that something-something was located in the Enchanted Forrest, and we all know what happened there. What happened to Anna during the curse is still unknown, though her necklace is in Gold’s shop, which I guess is a good sign? Either way, Elsa is now in Storybrooke for good, and she kicked off her tenure by ...

7 Forgotten YA Books That NEED To Become Movies

by 45 mins ago

In case you haven’t noticed, Hollywood has become completely entranced by film adaptations of popular Young Adult books as of late, because MONEY. From dystopian sci-fi worlds like “The Hunger Games” and “Divergent” to more weighted-in-reality fare like “The Fault in our Stars,” teens — and of course, adults who are teens at heart — come out in droves for a solid big screen remake of a beloved Young Adult book.

Related: What Did This YA Author Do To Get Banned From School Libraries?

… Which is great and all, but we won’t be completely satisfied until Hollywood takes these seven YA treasures — some well-known, some virtually erased from the public’s consciousness due to the cruel passage of time — and turns them into movie gold:

1. “Stargirl” by Jerry Spinelli

IMG_0002Scholastic

How this 2000 book has not been adapted yet is beyond us. Its titular character is quirky, kind, and insanely lovable, as its narrator’s internal struggle between accepted his first love for who she is and succumbing to soul-sucking popularity has already resonated with millions of teens (and adults) worldwide.

2. “Time Windows” by Kathryn Reiss

urlHarcourt Children's Books

This book, in which a girl’s dollhouse serves as a window into the terrifying lives of her new home’s previous occupants, features a well-structured mystery that would translate very nicely to the big screen.

3. “Song of the Lioness” Series, by Tamora Pierce

Alanna1Atheneum Books

Pierce’s series of book about Alanna of Trebond, a young noble ...

Watch Chris Pratt And Jimmy Fallon Try To Say ‘Titmouse’ Without Laughing

by 5 mins ago

It’s hard enough to master “word sneak” — Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” game of forcing guests to sneak random code words into the conversation — when the topics don’t include a songbird with a non-nonsensical, semi-dirty name, so we understand completely why Chris Pratt couldn’t keep it together when “titmouse” showed up on the roster. (It isn’t a tit or a mouse!)

Pratt, of course, was in town to promote his September 27 hosting gig on the “Saturday Night Live” premiere, and if his ability to commit to silly improvised material on “Fallon” is any indicator, it should be a really great show. Also, yes, Norm from “Cheers” really could have benefited from using a NordicTrack:
