8 Times Katy Perry’s Prismatic Tour Made Us ’90s Kids Nostalgic

by 19 mins ago

RALEIGH, North Carolina – With her candy boobs and brightly colored wigs, Katy Perry seems like the eternal child — remember how in “Part Of Me” she said she was 16 at heart? Of course you do. You’ve only seen it, like, 40 times.

At the kickoff of the North American leg of her Prismatic World Tour on Sunday, however, we were reminded that Perry was born in the ’80s, as her seriously Instagram-worthy performance had all of us ’90s kids in the house missing our childhoods something fierce.

As the Katy Cats grooved to Perry’s two-hour-long, career-spanning performance — she opened with “Roar” and closed with “Firework” — those among us who remember that most nostalgic of decades saw our lives (colorfully) flash before our eyes.

Check out the moments that filled us with the most fuzzy-edged wistfulness below… Over the course of the show we missed:

1. Lite-Brite

Lite-Brite! Lite-Brite! Turn on the magic of colored lights! Perry opened the show with an electrifying rendition of “Roar” complete with glowing neon lights reminiscent of this glorious kids’ toy. Luckily, no luminescent clown faces were involved.

2. My Little Pony

ponies

More like My Giant Pony. Katy trotted out a HUGE pony (pun intended) to help her perform “Dark Horse.” I just want to brush its hair with an ineffectual plastic comb, don’t you?

3.”The Nightmare Before Christmas”

Nothing says “I Kissed A Girl” like a passel of big-bootied, Tim Burton-esque dancing mummies!

4. “Gin And Juice”

Pearl Jam’s ‘Let It Go’ Cover Is Weird But We Love It

by 13 hours ago

Well, it looks like Pearl Jam have joined the already well-populated ranks of those people covering songs from “Frozen.” At a concert in Italy on Friday night, during their song “Daughter” they launched into an abridged version of “Let It Go.”

Though it’s an unlikely combination, Eddie Vedder totally pulls it off.

The barriers between pop and rock certainly seem to be breaking down—recently Bruce Springsteen covered Lorde’s breakout hit “Royals.” Long live poptimism!

Fans Are Loving Ed Sheeran’s ‘I’m A Mess’ … Because We’ve All Been There

by 14 mins ago

Today, MTV premiered its fourth and final track from Ed Sheeran‘s new album X “I’m A Mess” and it’s another lovelorn song. While lost love might be a common theme for the young singer, this time, he’s the one that messed up, and of course the Sheerios are loving it.

A lot of Ed’s songs take someone else to task for hurting him but this one seems more self-reflective and self-critical. “And oh, I’ve only caused you pain,” goes part of a verse, and the chorus includes the halting thought: “Easy baby, maybe I’m a liar.” Usually, Ed is putting women on blast for breaking his heart, but here, he opens up and admits his own mistakes, a feeling that his fans are easily connecting with.

But there’s a few odd lines, like “put your faith in my stomach” that have fans scratching their heads.

Mostly, everyone is just ready to commiserate with Sheeran—we’re all a gigantic mess sometimes.

He also touches on going through the motions in a relationship, and even though it’s not working, Sheeran still hopes to make love last.

Some fans have found their new favorite in the song.

“’I’m a Mess’ was definitely written at my lowest point,” Sheeran said in an interview, but the song isn’t all depressing thoughts.

There’s memories of walking home together and the final, rousing refrain proves that despite everything, he still believes in love. “And for how ...

24-Year-Old Man Dies At Electric Daisy Carnival

by 5 mins ago

A California man died early Saturday morning after attending Electric Daisy Carnival.

24-year-old Montgomery Tsang of San Leandro, California, collapsed in the Las Vegas Motor Speedway parking lot and was taken to University Medical Center where he died shortly after, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

“We are deeply saddened by this news, and hope that everyone will join us in keeping his family and friends in their thoughts during this very difficult time,” Insomniac spokeswoman Jennifer Forkish saud in a statement. “Dance music fans pride themselves in being part of a loving community and, as we get ready to start the second night of the show, we ask everyone to help us keep this event safe.”

In 2012 there were two deaths at the festival, and it was moved out of Los Angeles in 2010 when a 15-year-old girl died. Local authorities reportedly responded to 249 minor medical calls during the festival this year, along with five hospitalizations.

When two died at New York’s EDM music festival Electric Zoo last year, the organizers canceled the event and majorly revised their policies, but there are currently no plans to cancel EDC.

North West’s Birthday Party Was Better Than Any Of Yours Will Ever Be

by 11 mins ago

It may be hard to believe that North West is already one year old, but it’s not surprising at all that Kim and Kanye threw a huge bash for their daughter. The party was held at Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick’s Calabasas mansion yesterday afternoon.

Dubbing the event “Kidchella,” the party was modeled after the music festival Coachella, and included a Ferris Wheel, and mini teepees that offered activities like hair-braiding and face-painting. It was at Kidchella that Khloe’s Instagrammed herself wearing a Native American headdress yesterday, something that raised a few eyebrows.

North’s birthday was actually on June 15, but since that fell on Father’s Day this year it, makes sense that the newlywed couple postponed her party. Kim Instagrammed some photos of the event, including one of a baby partygoer wearing a custom Yeezus shirt and a shot of the ferris wheel.

There was even a karaoke station set up like a stage that Kendall and Kylie made good use of, lip syncing to Rihanna’s “I Found Love in a Hopeless Place” among others.

She might not remember it, but Nori just had one of the best first birthday parties in the world.

Here’s What Happens When Demi Lovato Gets Bored Signing Autographs

by 26 mins ago

When Demi Lovato gets bored signing autographs, you never know what she’ll scribble on a photo along with her signature. Last night she played an intimate show to celebrate the opening of Microsoft’s new store in Garden City, Long Island.

Two hundred fans were lucky enough to meet Demi and get her autograph, but instead of just signing the photos, she began to draw on them too (and document the ensuing loopiness).

Demi with a beard? That’s an autograph you’ll never forget. Her fans were loving the chance to see a goofy side of Demi, and she seemed to be having fun too. Check out the other fun pics she (and her fans) posted to Twitter.

Exclusive: DJ Khaled And Rick Ross Perfect Their Golf Swings In ‘They Don’t Love You No More’ Video

by 2 hours ago

DJ Khaled and Rick Ross could use a little work on their golf swings.

In the new video for “They Don’t Love You No More,” the two Miami natives stand atop luxury vehicles and hit golf balls into the — well, hit golf balls not that far.

That’s not a slight, fellas. Just an observation. We still got love, even if you feel like no one else does, like they discuss on the track.

The lead to single to Khaled’s upcoming I Changed A Lot also features Meek Mill delivering his fiery verse and French Montana on the hook — though Jay Z doesn’t show up when it time for the song’s final verse.

Not to worry, though. They other guys, with the help of Timbaland, flash some stacks, pour some champagne, and rap Hov’s verse in his place.

There’s also an appearance by Terio. Naturally.

‘Orphan Black’ Finale Redux: Let’s Talk About Mark

by 11 hours ago

If you’re not caught up on the finale of “Orphan Black,” may we suggest you back away from this post now (and not slowly), as it contains perhaps the biggest game-changing spoiler in Clone Club history.

OK, so. Let’s talk about Mark, shall we? Because Mark is not really unique. Mark is, shall we say, one of a few with no family, too? That’s right, folks: there’s an army of male clones out there in the world and they all share a face with Ari Millen, the actor who — up until this point — was known solely as Prolethean convert Mark. He’s been creeping us out all season and now we know why…

Mark is a clone. (And here all this time you thought the game-changer was the trans clone.)

Which means we haven’t seen the last of him, or even all of him, yet. Not by a long shot. Ho-ly sestrahood, folks!

Now, the reveal that Project Leda was merely one part of the cloning operation was not all that surprising — people have wondered since season one if there were male counterparts and who that might be (many fans hoped it would be revealed to be Felix). But the fact that we found out, at the end of the season, that we’d been dealing with a male clone the whole time? W-O-W. That’s a reveal, folks. Project Castor is a-go.

Mark’s existence as a clone opens up the floodgates in a really ...
